Name: Dion

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Position: Uke

Race: Mix( human, demon, beast)

Clan: Beast

Ability: Berserker (he is able to change into berserker form where all his powers are enhanced), fire, speed and strength.

Description: Green hair, amber eyes. In his berserker form, he has blonde hair, green eyes and elf like ears.

Likes: Fruits, adventures, training and animals.

Dislikes: His father, rude individuals and flowers(he's allergic to them)

Personality: Dion is a very dense person in character. He often takes things literally and never thinks before he speaks. He isn't easily angered but when he does get angry, his anger explodes.

Short bio: Dion was born from a beast lord(his father) and a demon and human mixed blood(his mother). But his parents didn't love each other. His mother had a human lover before she was captured by his father to bear his child. After that, they were sent into the forest to live alone. His mother hated him and often threw her temper at him, smashing the things that he brought her. When Dion first went berserk, his father finally acknowledged him and brought him out of the forest.

Dion followed his father into the castle past the guards and into the throne room. Walking along the long red carpet, he stopped when his father stopped and bowed to the beast emperor when his father did. After that his father moved to the side while Dion remained standing in front of the emperor. He kept his eyes on his feet, not daring to make a move. Dion didn't know why his father brought him to see the king. The man hadn't even once in his life glanced at him and now there was this. He probably found that Dion was useful now after so many years of his childhood spent getting beaten up. Word of Dion's rage had reached him, and the man whom he called his father had came to visit him for the first time. And the first time, he visited, he took Dion away from his mother. Not that the woman actually cared, she was happy to see him go.

"Hmm..." the king mused, gripping his chin in a thoughtful post. "He really does look human. I never would have expected someone like this to be your son Caros," he said.

Caros, his father bowed and replied. "It may not seem like it but this boy is most definitely my son." This made Dion suspicious. Why did his father only acknowledge him now? Does it mean that he wasn't Caros's son if he was weak? Dion clenched his fists tightly and kept quiet waiting for what the king had to say.

"I have a task for you boy," the king said. Dion looked up at the king keeping silent to let him know that he was still listening. "You will go into the human's territory to gather some information for me," the king continued. At this, Dion's eyes widened in fear. Humans may seem weak in the past. But over time, the other races noticed how they got stronger quickly and were now a force to be reckoned with. They could sniff out intruders with their own spells. Dion knew this and feared the consequences if he was ever found. But he didn't know that the human blood within him would also protect his identity.

"W-what will i have to do there?" He asked softly. "Gather information on their military and battle plans?"

"No," the king replied. "I want you to tell me how the humans rule their people." He said, pausing to take a look at Dion. "I realised that the reason why humans became so strong is because of their unity. I want you to find out how they achieved this."

-------------------------------

A week later, Dion found himself in front of the large wall which blocked the humans from the outside. His face was hidden beneath his dark hood when he went closer to the wall. The guards saw him and raised their swords.

"Who goes there?! State your race and the reason why you're here?" They shouted from their positions.

Dion took a deep breath and pulled back his hood. Giving the guards a smile, Dion waved and said," Sorry, but I'm human."

Name: Veles

Age: In his late twenties

Race: Beast

Appearance: Though the only feature clearly distinguishing him for a human are a pair of large horns that protrude from the back of his skull and bend forward, his sheer size is abnormal and would single him out. He is a tall and brawny man with pure black hair that far too short to conceal his beastly attributes. His mild, light green eyes stand out simply thanks to the contrast they provide to his tanned skin.

When he is forced to conceal his race, he either wraps a dark cloth over his head and his shoulders or wears a heavy cloak.

Personality: To a person who shares his world view, Veles might seem respectable or even admirable but to others he is nothing more than a brute and an extremist. He is a tactician and is very clever, able to make snap decisions and do well under pressure. However it is not beneath him to b sly as well, though this is not what he prefers. He is self assured to a fault, suborn and unwilling to listen but on the other hand believe and fiercely and relentlessly defends certain good ideals as well.

Ability: He has exceptional physical strength and thick skull. He is nearly invulnerable to head trauma and is prone to headbutt an enemy if the come close enough to give him the chance.

Short history: Within a society of beasts he is little more than a worker with nothing special to his heritage or his abilities. However, he is invaluable to the group he is a part of thanks to his devotion and near fanatic convictions.

It had been a struggle to grant Veles passage over the border and now that he was left to his own devices in human territory he had as much trouble passing unnoticed and was forced to linger at the outskirts of populated areas, hiding and sneaking like an ominous shadow. Even someone as sure of himself as he was couldn't help but question his superiors decision to send him of all people to resolve this. However, he intended to complete his assignment even despite the obstacles and minor details, it did not even matter if the humans were to capture him in the process.

He'd been sent a few days in advance of his target and was waiting at the town nearest to the border. Knowing his destination, it was only logical for the younger man to pass through this place. Veles had memorized his appearance in detail but there was only so much he could be certain of when he'd never even seen the man he was suppose to stop but was only given a description. This was what bothered him, how little information he'd been given and how much he felt was concealed from him, the possibility of causing harm to someone who was unrelated to this entire ordeal. Still he explained it to himself, that secrecy was necessary and information was hard to acquire, that it was unlikely for anyone innocent to be hurt and that, after all if it came to that the victim would be human.

He stood quiet, immersed in the shadows of trees and other plant life that occupied the forest, watching a section of the short road that connected the town to the boarder. An impressive weapon, a sword large enough that even he could only drag it behind himself when wielding it only with one hand, was placed on his back, or rather was using his body as a support not to tip over. He'd had little idea what to do with such a weapon when first laying eyes on it but he had much time to implement it on pretend targets and grow to like it while he'd waited. Now it was ready to be drawn and provide him protection from either a human enemy or the person he'd been sent for but he did not intend to use it quite yet. For now he was only watching, looking for his objective with the intent to follow and observe him.

The soldiers took one look at Dion's features and immediately, their harsh expressions turned into friendly welcoming smiles. Dion was surprised at this but kept his expression neutral. "Ah! Welcome back," one of them said. "You shouldn't be going out of the country for too long even if you may be strong. Those beasts are dangerous too," the other said. Was this the unity that the emperor was talking about? Humans were so friendly to each other. Seeing this made Dion feel rather sad that he wasn't a part of such a world. The soldiers each gave him friendly pats on the back that made Dion feel warm all over as they ushered him through the gates. It was the first time he had ever smiled genuinely.

"Thank you for your concerns, have a good day ahead," he replied and waved to them as he continued on his way. The moment he passed through the gates, he was greeted with a bustling market place within a city. Dion's eyes were wide with wonder and curiosity as he walked along the path. The beast territory never had anything like this. Stalls with food, drinks and other supplies lined the side walk. In the beast territory, food was hunted individually, water was taken from wells and rivers, and necessary supplies were made by oneself, sometimes even stolen. Compared to this, the beast territory was pandemonium. It was at this moment that Dion realised. Unity wasn't anything complicated like the emperor thought. It was a relationship, created through friendship and trust. And all this could be achieved through living together. In the beast land, everyone minded their own businesses, living separately and avoiding others who were not their family. Stealing also created negative relationships.

Dion however, regretted that he had to realise this upon entering the city. He wanted to spend more time enjoying himself among friendly humans. As he continued to walk, he suddenly heard panicked shouts coming from behind him. Dion turned his body and spotted a horse, charging through the streets and destroying carefully set up stalls. The horse was huge, with black hair and eyes unlike an ordinary horse. They were violet and without pupils. "WATCH OUT. IT'S A WAR HORSE!!!" He heard a human running behind the horse shouting. The poor human looked exhausted, sweating in his dark uniform while chasing the horse. A soldier he assumed. Dion didn't know what a war horse was since there was no such thing in beast territory. Instead, he took the horse running towards him as a form of greeting. Did humans have such masculine greetings as well? Since they used an animal for this. Being brought up in the beast land where everyone were all muscle heads, this kind of assumptions were normal for beasts. Since everything was about strength. "Then I should greet back,' was his thought.

Dion bent his knees and stretched out his hands, ready to receive the horse. The horse didn't bother avoiding the 'human' in front of him. He would wreck everything in his way. Which was why he was surprised when Dion stopped him with a hand to his head and the other to his long neck. Dion stepped back and lifted the one of the horse's heavy legs without much effort, shaking it. "Pleasure to meet you too, Sir War Horse," he said with a smile. The market place became deathly silent. The soldier who was chasing the horse finally arrived a second later.

"Thank you very much for catching this horse, Mister warrior," he said despite being socked from the event that had occurred before him. What Dion had done was possible among humans but rare, since certain humans could use magic or were exceptionally stronger than others, able to rival even demons or beasts. Some even left the land to hunt beasts and demons. The horse, upon realising that he was about to be recaptured, reared up on his hind legs and swung his front hooves at Dion. "WHOA!!!" The soldier exclaimed in shock.

Dion managed to avoid the hooves and grinned. To him, it seemed that his greeting wasn't enough and the horse was being more polite by being more violent. 'I can't be lacking in my manners,' he thought. In his attempt to be polite, Dion placed his hands on the horse's under belly when it came down. Heaving, he lifted the horse off the ground and gave it a few violent spins in the air before it flew a few feet away. There, it sat shocked, confused and dizzy. Dion placed his hands on his hips, that should be polite enough. He didn't want to cause any bodily harm to the horse by being too polite. Dion turned to the befuddled soldier and his eyes widened in shock. "Ah! I'm so sorry. You spoke to me but I haven't greeted you yet," he apologised. Before the soldier could say anything, Dion had lifted him off his feet and begin to shake him.

"Y-You're very....p-p-polite," the soldier managed to say amidst the violent shaking. Dion finally stopped and placed the soldier back on his feet, whom swayed and staggered towards the still traumatised horse. The market place had long been evacuated and Dion felt guilty at having been unable to greet everyone else.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Sir, hope you have a good day ahead," Dion told the soldier, still smiling and unaware of the soldier's current state. "A fine and polite horse you have here, he has been well trained. But sadly, I must get going. Perhaps, I could come to admire him some time in the future," Dion waved at the soldier and horse before walking off, leaving the soldier to stare after him. The horse, sitting obediently beside him and doing the same thing.

It was not that Veles was impatient but after enough time passed and only humans appeared on the road his attention began to dwindle. The steel giant that had rested on his back was eventually placed down, partially forced into the ground and he seated himself beside it with his arms crossed over his chest. Many people had drifted by him as they travelled and none of them had spotted him or even looked over their shoulder to allow their gaze to survey the branches he hid behind. He'd quickly gained confidence in his hiding place and felt safe enough to move to the ground and position himself so he was more comfortable while he continued to watch the path.

It crossed his mind that the man he hoped to see had simply slipped by him, it would had been enough for him to loose focus and allow his thoughts to wander off for only a moment for that to happen. However, he was confident he couldn't have failed in such a laughable way and cleared his mind of such ideas. His target would have to walk along this road and Veles would recognize and begin to follow him, there was nothing to think about beyond that.

At one point, the road suddenly became much less busy and the beast noted that all who passed were heading away from the border, deeper into human territory. This posed an obvious problem to him in that it made it harder for him to study each face, however it also sparked some curiosity in him regrading what might have triggered such an influx. He wondered if perhaps his target had made his job simple and somehow revealed himself but that would have meant that everything he'd done was for nothing and that he would wait there for days and find nothing. For now, it was better if the other man did well and everything went smoothly for him.

Just as Veles came to this conclusion and analysed a group of three men to confirm none of them were who he was waiting for one of the humans strained from the road and came close to him. The being was small, barely a threat and clearly hadn't noticed him, but the beast still tensed and acting on instinct readied himself to rush forward. Though he had learned how to use the sword he still hadn't developed the habit to grasp for it when in danger or when a quick reaction was needed. Instead he readied his body to use as a weapon and in his mind planed how to attack the human but came to his senses in time and stopped himself momentarily. He could not allow himself to make a scene now, and if he could stay still and remain unseen it would also be unnecessary to take any action.

Dion was lost. He only realised this after multiple twists and turns in the complicated paths of the human town. Dion was desperate to find a landmark, any place which could give him a hint of where he was. Dusk had already fell and he still hadn't found an inn to spend the night in. He ran his fingers through his long green locks for the umpteenth time, making them more messy than they already were. "Goddamnit! Just where am I?" He cursed and continued to move through the deserted streets.

When dark fell, the city lights suddenly lit up, not by fire but rather, balls of glowing light energy. Dion's eyes widened in wonder, shock and curiousity. He hadn't a clue as to what was going on. He continued to walk down the streets, until the first door opened and music started to play. Humans all left their houses one by one, dressed in festive outfits. Stepping our of their houses slowly, it rhythm with the music. A little hop and a step, they found a partner and started to dance. Dion blinked in confusion, he still didn't understand what was going on. A young lady stepped up to him, also in rhythm to the music and grabbed his arm. With Dion in tow, she danced to the centre while he stumbled along. People laughed good-naturedly at him while he burned in embarrassment. Although he didn't know what was going on, he knew that the logical thing to do was dance along, yet he had no clue of how to dance. Dion tried to copy their movements, stepping to the side, a hop then turn. But he failed miserably, unable to grasp the music. After a while, he asked his partner. "Apologies, i am not from this town. So may i know why people are dancing at night?"

The lady laughed. "It is a festival good sir. The day when we celebrate the birthday of our prince. He may not be around anymore," she said the last part sadly. "But we love him dearly. So we celebrate on the date he was born and mourn on the date he passed." Dion looked at the lady sadly as well. He could feel her grieve and mourned together with her despite not knowing the deceased prince. Although he was curious as to how he died, Dion decided not to pry for fear that the lady may burst into tears.

"He must be a great person for his people to love him so. Grieve not. Today, we celebrate his birth, no? There should be no tears," Dion said with a comforting hand on her shoulder.

The lady smiled up at him. "Indeed, he was the kindest and strongest man who loved his people," she replied. "We feel his concern and love for us, that is why we love him back." The dance soon ended and Dion bowed, following the other men. Food was brought out and everyone enjoyed their time deep into the night, Dion included. The people treated him warmly despite not knowing him personally and Dion was grateful. He understood that this was yet another factor that contributed to their unity and peace, making them trust and work together. Indiscriminating of their kind regardless of race or religion, Dion absorbed all of this knowledge.

When the festival ended, Dion asked for directions and went on his way to explore more of this pleasant world

There was a certain point, after nearly being revealed and his patience had run out, that Veles started to doubt the orders that had been given to him and chose to disregard them altogether. Having become familiar with the area and being comfortable in the forest even at night as any beast would be, he picked up his sword and started walking slowly, following the curves of the road he had been watched. Perhaps it was arrogant of him to decide his judgment was better than that of a team of people but he had waited long enough and it was obvious that whatever they'd planed wasn't what happened in reality.

Veles had nothing to fear in the darkness and what's more felt more free knowing there were nearly no humans out on the road so late who could cause him problems. He did however have some trouble seeing properly with so little light and was concerned someone or something important would slip by him without him realizing it. Though at this point he was very sure something like that had already happened and now he was only wasting his time waiting and searching for someone to show up there.

Just as he thought of this and sighed deeply at the possibility he took note of a figure moving along the road. He didn't get his hopes up, knowing after watching random humans all day that chances were slim this was who he was looking for. Unable to take a better look because of tree branches that blocked his view he approached the stranger, coming close to them while still being careful not to be seen.

Veles should had been happy to see the man seemed like the one he'd been sent for but at this point he didn't trust his eyes nor his memory and tried to convince himself he was making a mistake. However, even before clearing his doubts he began to follow the other knowing it would be too big of a mistake to dismiss him and do nothing as he walked past him. After all, he had no other possible targets track of and could devote his attention to this man even if he were to turn out to be another random human.

Dion had received directions on how to leave the town. But for once, he felt incredibly stupid to have forgotten to ask for directions to the nearest inn. What he needed the most was a lodging to rest for the night yet he had forgotten. Or should he return to the festival and ask for a place to spend the night? But Dion didn't want to impose on them and overstay his welcome. He wandered around the deserted streets, messing his hair up in frustration.

As he walked, still mentally berating himself for being so forgetful, a lone figure sitting by the sidewalk caught his attention. Dion stopped walking and turned to look at the person. Dressed in tattered rags covered in mud and dirt, the beggar laid on the ground groaning in extreme hunger. Dion stared for a while more before shrugging, it was still better than nothing. He pulled his dark hood over his head and approached the man.

Dion knelt by the figure lying on the ground and reached out a hand, stopping when the beggar flinched. That was when he noticed the scars and wounds covering skin that was not concealed by his clothes. No wonder he was afraid. And looking closer, the man seemed young....no, not young... he was far too young. This homeless person was but a boy of about seven to eight years old. Dion looked sadly at the boy. So humans were also capable of something like this, abusing little children. No world could be perfect after all.

Dion opened his cloth sack and rummaged about before taking out a loaf of hard crusted bread he had gotten from the festival as travel food. He held the bread out to the boy. "Take it," he said softly so as not to frighten the small creature. He watched as the boy cautiously took the bread, pulling it back fast im case Dion changed his mind about giving him food. Dion stroked his fingers through the kid's greasy unwashed hair while said boy ravaged through the bread, having not eaten for days. Dion waited until the boy finished his meal before speaking.

"Apologies, do you know where i could find the nearest inn to spend the night?" He asked softly. The boy stared up at him and then turned to the right. He lifted his hand and pointed, speaking in a frightened child-like voice.

"Right down this street, turn left, three doors down," he instructed. Dion smiled and thanked the boy. He took out a small pouch of coins and placed them in the boy's palm. "Spend it well," he said and left. He would have wanted to take the boy with him but Dion knew that the boy would once again be alone once he went back to the beasts.

After walking a few metres, Dion became strangely aware that someone was following him. He thought that this was impossible since none of the humans were suspicious enough of him to have him investigated. Dion pulled his hood further over his jead and quickened his pace until he reached the doors of the inn and stopped. Dion looked down the empty dark streets where he came from suspiciously. Seconds later, he opened the door and entered the inn.

The more time passed in Veles watching the other man through the cover of branches the more confident he became that this in fact was the person he was meant to stop. Though he'd had an image of the man in his mind all the while he'd waited for him to appear, he now had a chance to observe him and see what details he'd imagined incorrectly. He wouldn't have wasted time on studying the man's features if it was only in order to assess his appearance, rather he was concerned he would loose track of him at some point and wanted to have the image of him etched into his mind this time around.

Cautious to never loose sight of his target, Veles kept to the shadows and mirrored the other man's each step as he followed him. He was careful to keep a constant distance between them so to give himself opportunity to effectively back away or hide himself better if the other became suspicious and looked in his direction with a suspicious gaze.

He watched carefully the interaction between the part beast and the human child and an anger formed in him because the other showed the human such kindness and seeing how they treated their own young, he knew that no such good will would be shown to one of his people if roles were reversed. Then again, the other man wasn't one of them, he was as much a human as he was a beast and to Veles that excluded him from what he considered his own brethren.

It was perhaps because of this rage that he'd momentarily felt that Veles moved more carelessly and gave the other some hint of his presence, however he wasn't ware that the other was suspicious. He quickened his step so to not end up farther from the other man than he would have liked but slowed down and stopped altogether upon seeing him enter the inn. A deep frown formed on his face as he knew it would be difficult to try anything against his target now, still he felt he should hurry and not leave the other an opportunity to get away from him or become aware of him and his mission. He waited for some time so the other would become comfortable and perhaps let down his guard and then, with reluctance and great regret that he would surely have to interact with humans, he cautiously emerged from cover and approached the inn.

Upon entering the cosy inn, Dion contemplated whether he should confront the individual who was tailing him. But thoughts of how it would be for the humans made him decide not to. Besides, he was sure that the other wouldn't make a big fuss as well in order to keep a low profile. Dion approached the owner of the inn and booked a room. While at it, he gave the owner special instructions.

"I have suspicions that someone may be tailing me. Rest assure sire that no trouble shall befall but i must ask you to do me a favour," he said. The owner agreed hesitantly. "I would like you to give me a description of the next person who enters this inn after me once i have retired for the night. Just slip a piece of paper under my door. Thank you very much." Dion retired into his room, keeping his senses on high alert. Just as he had expected, the door of the inn opened after he had entered the room. Dion sat on the bed, anxious of who may be following him. What their motive may be, he couldn't let them hinder his mission.

He waited deep into the night until the owner deemed it safe to approach his room. A piece of paper appeared from under the gap of the door and Dion rushed to pick it up. He read the description on the piece of paper. Tanned skin, brown hair and brown eyes. Wears a light blue tunic with gray trousers. The description seemed to describe a human but he couldn't fathom why a human would be following him unless they knew his purpose. Dion was certain that the owner had gotten the wrong person. No human had that level of stealth displayed by the man who followed him, Dion was certain that he wasn't human. Sighing deeply, Dion crawled into bed. He had waited up for nothing, unable to find the identity of that person. It left him feeling more insecure than ever, not knowing what their purpose was or whether they were going to stop him from accomplishing his mission. He closed his eyes and was out like a light till the next day.

  • 2 weeks later...

Veles moved awkwardly, stiff as he entered the inn and for the first time found himself close to humans without concealment to give him a sense of safety. Of course, he did not fear the humans themselves or whatever punishment they could sentence him to but being revealed and having to run before completing what he'd been sent to do. With his clothes arranged carefully to hide all of his features that were obviously beastly, he approached the owner and without exchanging a word with the man handed him the amount of gold he estimated was enough for a room and took from him a key moments after. It took some effort for him not to rush down the hallway and while he tried not to seem as tense as he was he appeared grim and hostile.

The sword he carried found a place by the door as soon as it was closed behind him and Veles scanned the room with his gaze for only a second to assure himself he was now out of sight of the humans and had nothing to be nervous about any longer. He seated himself by the exit and with his attention trained on the hallway beyond the door he listened for footsteps and voices, hoping that soon as night fell everything would grow quiet. There was still a chance for him to complete his assignment and return home unnoticed but only if he could catch his target off guard and that was what he intended to do. However, Veles became reluctant upon noticing the human from before, the owner of the building, walking by and lingering for a moment by the room of his enemy. Confused and unsure what this meant he staid in place reconsidering his next move even after everyone seemed to have gone to sleep and everything was quiet.

It was late into the night when he convinced himself to pick up his sword and for the first time put it to use. He walked through the hallway slowly, careful not to make a sound and stopped by the other man's door to listen for hints that he was still up and ready to defend himself. There was nothing but silence throughout the entire inn though and so, with great focus on being stealthy, Veles entered and found the man he'd been following asleep inside. He held the sword ready in his hands and as he was given another chance to observe the other male's perfectly human features he frowned but despite all of it found himself reluctant to strike.
