Working an idea

So I've had this idea stuck in my head now for a while. I've tried starting it before in another forum I was part of, but we both went our superset ways and the thread died. So now I'm trying it again!

In a world where creatures ruled the lands and humans lived side by side with them. For centuries upon centuries, these creatures helped the lands grow. They brought life to forests, rain to deserts and crops to country sides. They were respected by the humans, some were however feared. But they were given names. They were called guardians. Unfortunately, some guardians retaliated. A war broke out and many humans and guardians were killed and sacrificed. Guardians sided with humans and fought against the attacking guardians. When the war died, humans became frightened of the guardians. They feared for their lives, thinking they would attack them again.

 

The humans captured what guardians they could after killing off those that were too strong to control. Contracts were created by mages to chain the guardians to their master. Because of this development, war still broke out. Those who thought they were strong enough to rule a land attacked. Only those strong to defend against them fought back. In the end, guardians killed each other, a day old rule that was designed against this fact had been broken in an instant. At the end of all the fighting, only one guardian remained, stubborn, slightly skittish, sometimes defiant, fire creature. He was guardian to a forest that ended up being burned down during one of the wars. He was forced to kill many of his fellow guardians and has slowly suffered in the darkness of his cage.

So here's the idea:

 

MC, the lonely fire guardian that has been captured and tamed, is being left in the darkness of a dungeon. Since the wars he hasn't seen the light of day. And the only time he sees his master is when he comes down to pass him food. Food in which a crow wouldn't even want to eat. YC, the master, isn't all bad. In fact, he has his reasons for keeping MC down in the darkness. Now, this is where you can decide a little on your characters time frame.

 

Either you can be the master of the day and age of when the war ran through the lands, or you can be a descendant of MCs master and find MC in the slumps of a broken dungeon, unable to stand on its own. It's been years since he was left alone and master less. However, because of the contract still technically in place, having not been broken when he died, our characters are still tied together.
