Florence_Ashmore
Tsubaki began to cut up his own plain pancakes, not particularly keen on sweets or oils he choice to leave out the syrup and butter from his own. Taking a swing of his coffee he glanced up at the odd looking deamon before reaching up and grabbing the folder with the information on it. When most people thought of deamons they thought of these glorious beings that were wrapped in extraordinarily elegant clothing. While he'd seen Zaas like that, he almost preffered him in the state before him. His hair still looked soft and and lucious, but the other definetly had bed head. He could see the top of Zaas's smooth chest showing a bit between the comfortor that he had rewrapped around himself, and was watching the tanned man practically pouncing on the pancakes. Something about this familiar appearance from Zaas made him smile a bit at the warm feeling of it. Flipping open the folder he glanced down at the words before speaking, "Well, it doesn't look to difficult. A few people have gone missing and four bodies have turned up at a local national park. The bodies were found in the river really decomposed since they had been hidden under the ice on top meaning they have been there since at least fall. The authorities are blamming ganks but the order thinks that there is fowl play. Other than that we don't really know to much actually, looks like no one in the research department bothered to look into it to much. With any luck there won't be anything there at all." Finishing, he sat the folder back down beside him, closed. Despite his feelings on the matter, there deamon counter parts were never allowed to look at any confidential case files. "Either way, I have a bad feeling about it after yesterday. I might just be on edge, but do me a favor and watch yourself. Wouldn't be to fun looking for a new a partner on my part, right?" He teased lightly, but his tone held a hint of firmness on the matter.
Noise Prince
Zaas loved syrup. He loved syrups and sauces in general, he disliked plain foods, but maple syrup he liked more than almost anything else. He begged for Tsubaki to buy out a limited edition of maple syrup when one was released. Baki had been nice enough to buy him four- which lasted him five days. He could barely watch Tsubaki eat his poor, naked pancakes, adorned with nothing. He focused on his nicely syrupped breakfast. The best part was that the syrup was cold but the pancakes were still hot. Delicious. Zaas hoped that he wasn't going to slow them down with his morning routine. He didn't take long, but he did move a little slow. Tsubaki was usually on top of things, and wouldn't wake him up so close to their departure time that he wouldn't have time, but he still knew it was a possibility. He didn't want to go out with his hair all frazzled from a good night's sleep. "Huh... murder at a national park..." He repeated. Sometimes he wondered if the Order ever thought humans committed crimes, or if they always suspected this 'foul play'. Of course, an investigation of their own never hurt anything. Bodies that had been stuck under ice since last fall... that was quite interesting. If that was planned, then the murderer was quite smart. If it wasn't, then they were lucky, and probably took advantage of the opportunities afforded to them. It didn't matter, if the culprit was a summoner, Zaas and Tsubaki would find them, it didn't matter how lucky or smart. They were luckier and smarter. "Right, okay," Zaas nodded, and took another bite of pancakes. He wondered if there was something he wasn't telling him, if he was bringing up the possibility of him dying. Of course, if Tsubaki was asking it of him, he'd take it to heart and be more cautious than normal.
Florence_Ashmore
Tsubaki leaned forward and let his head rest in the palm of his hand again as he watched the other continue to attack the pancakes that were more like 80 percent syrup and 20 percent actual pancake than anything else. Still, it was the small quirks that Zaas seemed to have that made the deamon so endering to him as his priest. He could have been stuck with a rage driven, heartless partner but instead he got a syrup loving, hand standing one instead. To be comletely honest, he sometimes felt bad for the other to be stuck with him as a partner. Tsubaki tried his best, he really did, but a lot of the time it seemed like he wasn't cut off for this job. He didn't have the stomach to handle a lot of the things they had to see and do, like if a person was possessed. It wasn't like the movies where you could purify them or exorcise them, once a deamon had a hold of a soul it devoured it. No if's ands or butts about it, within 20 minutes of the initial possesion they were nothing more than empty shells. The worst thing, was that children were the most susceptible, so they were the ones they generally had to put out of there misery. Pushing himself up from the table, he deposited his own plate into the sink before running some water into it. Turning to his deamon he lightly set his hand on the comforter where Zaas's shoulder was and spoke. "I'm going to go get ready and packed up, you have about ten minutes. You would have more if you could wake up like a reasonible individual." He teased again before heading off to his room. Pulling open a drawer he retrived his black beanie to protect his ears. Glancing out of the window, he noted that the snow had stopped thankfully and there was a good two and a half feet of it piled up on the ground. Grabbing his brief case that held holy water, crosses and a few other useful items he headed to the door. "Zaas, you ready" He called out to the other, glancing at his watch impatiently. One of the staples of his team, is that they managed to be late pretty often. Both because of Tsubaki's driving, and his deamons non-morning personality. Noise Prince
Zaas knew that Tsubaki was sensitive for a priest, considering the things they had to witness and be a part of. Zaas was a demon, it wasn't too difficult for him to handle, but Tsubaki was different. He was deeply affected, sometimes each time seemed like it was his first time. He wondered if that folder contained something that Tsubaki knew would upset him if they came across it. Then again, corpses weren't too pleasant, either… maybe today was just going to be a huge bummer. Maybe he should try to step in and be more involved so Tsubaki didn't have to deal with it alone, usually Zaas was pretty distant when it came to the more official details. Of course, the Council preferred it that way, but Tsubaki was already apparently upset, so Zaas was going to have to try to be of more help. "Ten mi-!" He nearly choked, if the syrup didn't double as a lubricant. He coughed a little and gave a fake pout when Tsubaki teased him and left. The demon focused on eating the rest of his pancakes, which didn't take him long, put his dishes in the sink, and rushed into the bathroom to brush his teeth, wash his face, comb his hair, then ran back to his room to get dressed for the day. "Yes, yes, I'm ready!" He called out as he was putting on his shoes, hopping out of his room with one foot in his hands so he could tie the laces. He dressed for chilly weather, with a large hoodie over a long sleeved shirt, and a hat, even though he spent all that time brushing his hair. "I'm pretty sure that was only eight minutes," He said with a large grin. "Do you have everything packed?"
Florence_Ashmore
Tasubaki let out a laugh that seemed to echo through the entire hallway when he watched the other rush out of his room on one leg. Reaching up he had to cover his mouth and hold onto his side with the other hand until he managed to somber up, at his deamons expense. "Ahaha, wow Zaas. Record timing. So it only took you eight minutes right, that means next time I can only give you eight minutes to get ready next time and it's still reasonable, right? Since you have done it before and all." He didn't usually tease the other this much, he was generally a pretty mild mannored person, but he just could help himself this morning. Just a few moments ago he'd been really stressed out about the assignment, but now he felt like there wasn't a care in the world. There was no way he was ever going to let anything happen to Zaas, and the feeling was mutual so he chose to try and relax. Waving his hand in the air slightly dismissivly he nodded and patted the brief case by his side. "Yeah, I actually made sure to remember it all this time. Make sure you keep yourself warm." He finished, stepping forward, he reached up and tugged the others hat on his head so that it was more snug, certainly messing up the hair underneath but that really wasn't his priority. Without another word, he pushed open the door and stepped out into the freezing air. The freezing rain felt like ice pellets on his skin at first, but by the time they got to the car his cheeks were numb enough to barely even feel it. Climbing inside, he blasted the a.c. and took off towards the location while the song played on the radio, setting it off to be another calm car ride. That is, until he nearly took out a light pole pulling out of the parking lot, but that was irrelevant to him. He didn't hit it, so it didn't matter, right? Noise Prince
Now, it seemed like Baki was in a better mood, as the demon hopped towards his summoner. He shook his head, laughing himself. "What a dictator!" He whined, pretending to bite him on the shoulder. "You can't expect a record to become my average just like that!" He added. "Plus, if you're going to shave off minutes, you gotta let me sleep in for those!" He didn't care how insignificant two minutes may seem, but first thing in the morning, wrapped up in blankets on a warm bed- two minutes was everything. He was glad to be able to get back to their banter, the way breakfast ended left Zaas a bit concerned about Tsubaki's feelings. But now he seemed like he was in a really good mood now, which was always a good thing when starting the day. Zaas nodded absent-mindedly, before the white-haired man reached up and started to adjust his hat. It was such a typically nurturing thing for Baki to do, Zaas couldn't help but smile. "Remind me why I brush my hair?" He chuckled, following him outdoors. Damn was it cold! And he was a demon, with better resistance than humans… how did they live?! He bet Tsubaki's skin might get numb from the freezing, ice cold rain. But the car wasn't haphazardly parked too far, and soon they were within the confides of Tsubaki's death machine. A fun song started to play on the radio. He laughed again. "Fitting," He commented before Tsubaki introduced him to the first near death experience of the morning. Florence_Ashmore
Tsubaki glanced down at the radio, as if doing that would help him hear it better. Completely taking his eyes off the road he didn't even notice that he manage to run a stop sign and a the car that was crossing had to slam on there brakes and laid on their horn. "Mm, I have to admit, it is fitting." He agreed before laughing a bit and finally bringing his eyes back up to the road just before slamming on the brakes at a red light. "Dammit, they really should fit the light timers." He cursed softly, putting all the blame on the traffic light and non on his own lack of an attention span. The drive itself was not as convientient as the day before, it took them a good 45 minutes to finally make it there, and to his relieve he saw that the place was pretty much deserted expcept for a sherifs car parked in the lot. "Wait right here," He spoke to the other as he parked the car, finally ending there drive of terror. Leaving the keys in the ignition he pushed open the door and dug his hands in his pocket, heading over to the sherifs car so that he could let the man know they were with the 'fbi' and here to scan there area but that moment he got closer to the ccar he could tell something was wrong. "Sir?" He spoke, looking through the tinted windows to see that there was no one inside of the car. There was a half eaten donught on the seat and a cup of what looked like coffee was spilled on the passenger seat. "Hm." He murmured, his breath puffing out into the air as he did. Straightening back up, he looked around to see if he could see any signs of fowl play but no one was in sight. Stepped away from the car, he held up an arm and waved it towards Zaas in the car, "Come on, it's clear!" He yelled, whenever authority's were handled it was his job. Zaas didn't look like he did when the seal was open, but there was something off about him that seemed to make most humans uneasy. Almost like the other just looked a tad to perfect for a human, like they could sense he was dangerous.
Noise Prince
Zaas gave Baki a nearly exhausted look when he blamed the traffic light for his own mistakes. Zaas wished he could learn to drive, or could at least be give the chance. He had an inkling that he'd be much better at it than Tsubaki. He'd be fighting for yet another way to keep humanity safe. It was a long, terrifying drive, but at long last, they reached the scene of the crime. Zaas would have liked to catch some shut eye during the drive, but he had to stay alert in order to not die if Tsubaki really got them into an accident. As used to his driving as he was at this point, he still knew that at one point he'd have to be ready to grab the summoner and abandon ship. Zaas nodded with a slight huff. He understood why he needed to stay in the car until there was an okay, but it was still a little frustrating. He really liked Tsubaki, and was fine with him being his only friend, but it felt a little isolating without many other choices. He leaned the chair back, and watched the summoner walk towards the cop car. Zaas felt a frown creep on his face. This felt weird, but he couldn't put his finger on why. Maybe it was because it was so quiet, there was no one in sight. For a crime scene, he didn't expect it to be bustling, though. When given the okay, he jumped out of the car and ran to Tsubaki's side. "What did the offi-…" He saw that there was no one in the car. "Oh… you meant literally, 'all clear'," Zaas mused. "Rare to see them off hard at work," He joked.
Florence_Ashmore
Tsubaki looked over to see the other heading over, leaning down he glanced back into the car for any other clues as to what happened here but frowned slightly when he saw nothing. "Mmm, you know the local Police. Working hard or hardly working, they seem to take the latter options more times than not." He mused, before setting down the brief case and biting the tip of his right glove to pull it off then pulling the other off. Rubbing his hands together he kneeled down and flipped open the case, his breath puffing in the chilled air as he did. Pulling out a small class bottle that was in the shape of a cross he flipped the top off of it. Reaching down into the snow with his free hand he drew a simple compass with north, east, south, and west before standing back up. "Careful, you might want to stand back a bit." He spoke before tipping the open bottle over each direction and letting a single drop fall where it sizzled in the snow. Taking a step by, he spoke in the latin tongue, "Domine deduc me in via mala." All was quiet for a moment before the snow around the west direction in the ground began to slowly melt , only instead of turning to clear water it was a black and thick substance. "Ah, there we g-." He began, turning to look in the direction that it had indicated only to see that he was looking directly at his own deamon, Zaas. With an annoyed and slightly apologetic groan he sighed and kicked some loose over his markings before turning to Zaas and speaking. "Well, looks like your deamonic presense is over running what ever else may be here, even sealed. Maybe this is all a bunch of coincidencial evidence and there is actually nothing." Bending down, he set the cross back inside of the case and picked it back up. "Still.." He murmured, looking back to the odd car and around the snowy scenery around them. "What ever is here, if anything, can't be to big and bad. Let's just take quick look around, i'll take the gravel trails and you take the sand ones. If anything happens, we'll just shout like last time. The quicker we finish this, the quicker we can enjoy having the rest of the day off. Sound okay?" Bringing his attention back to his deamon, he waited for the others answer.
Noise Prince
Zaas chuckled, crossing his arms as his summoner started to pull his gloves off in order to start digging around in his briefcase. He pulled out the detested cross-bottle thing. He was already backing away before Tsubaki warned him to mind his distance. Zaas didn't need a bad experience to know to keep back a little when he brought certain tools out into the playing field. Tsubaki could have been an artist, and made a lot of money, Zaas presumed, seeing how quickly and how well he could draw those compasses. He did not pity the snow when the water started to fall, though. There was something inherently scary about holy water for demons. The fact that it could hurt so much, but not leave a mark- at least in this form, it could blister a demon unsealed a bit- was frightening. With no marks, humans couldn't really tell just how much it could burn, and he'd heard tales of humans tricking their demons into drinking it, or otherwise coming into contact with it, because they thought it was funny and had no idea how painful it was. Tsubaki understood, though. And the Elders, which was why they weren't adverse to using it on demons themselves. He was only half-paying attention, reminiscing on something that would only make him mad to think about, until the black melted snow caught is attention. It ebbed it's way towards Zaas, almost politely approaching. "Ah, really?" Zass frowned. He wouldn't mind if they got the rest of the day off due to the assignment being of this world, but he had such an eerie feeling about the place that he suspected that they really should be there. "Okay, that sounds good to me," Zaas agreed. A day off would be pretty nice, so he wasn't going to think himself to death over a weird gut feeling. He downed his breakfast pretty fast, after all. "Wait a second… so irresponsible…" Zaas mumbled, and went over to the patrol car. He knew enough about cars to know that leaving the headlights on wasn't good for the car or the gas. He opened the unlocked door, and fiddled with different options until he found the way to switch off the lights. He was sure he'd be getting a thank you note in the mail from the police station for this good deed. But still, no good deed goes unpunished. "Guess they really were ready to get to work, they had left the light on." He commented.
