Daniel slept well that night curled into his brother, when he woke up he was a little surprised to find that Chris wasn’t still in bed with him. Then again he figured he was just getting far too used to waking up in the same bed as his brother, something he realized he probably shouldn’t be getting so used to. It wasn’t normal and as much as he enjoyed it, he shouldn’t be finding so much comfort in it either. Slipping out of the bed he moved towards the bathroom to shower and get ready for school, once he was done showering he got dressed and moved downstairs.

 

Glancing over to his parents as he entered the kitchen he found himself once more surprised since Chris wasn’t anywhere to be found, letting his eyes rove around the room he finally spoke, “Where is Chris?” he questioned as he moved to grab something for a quick breakfast. This was definitely not like his brother, and he wasn’t sure what to make of the fact that he wasn’t here, if it wasn’t for the fact that he always walked to school with his brother he would have just let it go.

 

Turning to face their parents he noticed that they both had identical expressions on their faces, and that unnerved him a little bit. Watching them he gave them both a questioning look, “Is… everything okay?” he asked his voice making it clear he was hesitant to do so.

Mary and joh were sitting at the table together with sad faces, but tried to act all normal when Daniel arrived in the kitchen.

 

"It's fine dear" said his mother trying to prepare him something to eat. More like to make herself busy with something else rather than thinking about Chris and what will be from now on. She didn't want to tell Daniel the truth, not yet at least. If Chris was that much affected, she couldn't handle to see her other son in same state. She didn;t want her familly to breake.

 

"He just went to school quicker because he had practice" his father said quickly, looking at Daniel with a small smile. He was getting old. Even if he had 48 years, he was feeling much older this days. it was better for the moment to keep it a secret. Or at least till Chris was able to talk with them again.

 

"There are .... some problems at work so you don't need to worru" added his father drinking his cold coffe. "You just eat and have fun at school" he continued wrapping up his papers in the case, preparing to leave for work.

 

Once his mother placed the dishes, she kissed Daniel on the forehead and sat down, drinking her coffee aswell.

"Oh?" Daniel question when he was told that Chris had just gone to school early because he had early practice today, it wasn't something that never happened but it was still rather rare. In the end he didn't really question it, despite the fact that it seemed like his parents were acting rather odd, sitting himself down at the table as he watched his father gather up his papers and put them in his briefcase preparing to leave for work.

 

Looking at the food that was set down in front of him before he felt the kiss that was pressed to his forehead, "Okay." he replied picking up his fork and starting to eat his breakfast, he didn't really see any reason to press things, so instead of doing so he just decided to eat his breakfast and head to school. When he was done he put the dishes in the sink, grabbed his backpack and said good bye to both of them before leaving the house and heading to school.

 

The whole way his mind was running over the way his parents were acting, and when he got to school he was still thinking about them. He was tempted to head to the gym and see Chris, but he knew that doing so he would be late for class and so went to class instead figuring he could always catch up to Chris later during lunch.

Chris was exhausted. All the hoops that he made for the passed hour made him feel like he was going to faint. In his mind were running again and again his parents words. He wasn't their son. He was adopted and now, his real parents were looking for him. Did he wanted to know them? To find out the reason they throw him away? Maybe. He wasn't sure. It was to much for him to handle at once. The was in a difficult balance. On one hand he wanted to know them and find out the reason why they did that, but on the other hand he was hatting them and wasn't thinking of them as parents. They kind of lost that right when they throw him away. His real family was John and Mary.

 

Throwing the ball away he felt on the floor, punching the shiny wood with his fists. Daniel didn't hat to find out. He couldn't. Although it was a good news. They weren't brothers at all, so being in love with one another wasn't something disgusting or wrong from the other's point of view. There was at least one good thing in all that mess. He could be with Daniel without any problem and without worrying about their parents anymore. His adopted parents. That sounded so wrong for him.

 

Chris missed the first class, and second aswell. He just stood there and laid on the floor, feeling empty and alone. When the third class started, he manage to get in class, right before the teacher, but his mind was far away. not paying attention to what it was happening in class.

Daniel didn't see any sign of Chris for the first half of his day, by the time lunch was rolling around he had to admit he was worried, not to mention he had caught the gaze of Kyle more than once and every time he did his skin would crawl. He didn't like that he didn't have his brother around to run off too, in fact it just made him more nervous and want to go home even sooner something completely out of normal for him. I n the end he figured it was justified, considering what had happened not so long ago, he was even tempted to ask his parents if he could be home schooled, or even just do it online. Whatever meant he wouldn't have to face Kyle on a daily basis, scratching the back of his neck nervously as he stopped by his locker just after his class let out he knew he was going to have to hunt his brother down.

 

'He has to be around here somewhere.' he thought to himself letting his eyes rove over the hall once more, he knew that his brother was here, his parents had said he had left early for an early practice. But if that was the case then where the hell was he? Glancing around once more and not finding him he set off for the cafeteria thinking maybe Chris had beat him there, something not entirely out of character for the older man. The longer he went without seeing him the more he had to admit he got worried, especially with the odd way their parents had been acting that morning.

Chris was moving his feet to the cafeteria even if he wasn't that hungry, but his stomach was already grumping because he didn't eat home before leaving as he was used to. His mind was still far away, not paying attention to the ones around him that were passing him back and forth. He took only an apple and some water sitting on a table , resting his fore-head in one hand while eating the apple. He started to have a head-eke which it was strange for him. It wasn't something that he was used to. He was always healthy and never had any pain.

Daniel went to the cafeteria, and when he arrived his eyes scanned the room for his brother, he found him sitting at a table alone, and after grabbing a light lunch he joined him sitting across from him. Watching Chris for a moment he didn't speak, it was only after watching him for a moment he spoke, "How was your practice?" Everyone and everything seemed off right now, but he figured he could at least try to act as if something wasn't completely weird

Chris mind was far away from school. He was there only because he had to, not because he wanted. At least a good think was coming out from all this mess. In that moment he heard Daniel right next to him. The fact that they weren't really brothers was the best news in this matter. He smiled. Seeing him next to him was relaxing.

 

"Tiring ..." he sighed keeping his eyes on the other. Would it be ok if he told his brother that they weren't brothers? That could wait until they were home. Or where the other would be prepared to be with him again. And that time will be as lovers and no more brothers.

 

"How about you?" he asked turning to drink some water from his bottle.

Daniel nodded when Chris told him that his practice had been tiring, when his brother turned the question back on him he frowned slightly. "Mom and dad were acting weird when I came downstairs. Other than that fine I suppose." The more the thought about it them ore he was irritated with the fact that they continuously treated him like a child and pretended like he didn't catch on to what was going on, he knew that whatever it was that had gotten to his parents this morning did not have to do with his father's work.

 

He hated how they treated him sometimes but he knew it was because he was the baby of the family, even if he wasn't a baby anymore his parents had a hard time seeing it. Often times he felt like they were still trying to act like he was five, when that just wasn't the case anymore, he could only imagine what their parents response would be if they knew he was having sex, much less having sex with Chris. That thought honestly amused him a little and after a moment he returned his gaze to his brother, he didn't mention anything about the way Kyle kept watching him not wanting to anger his older brother.

"Mom and dad were acting weird when I came downstairs. Other than that fine I suppose."

 

"Maybe they have problems themselves and don't want to bother you or me with them" he said fading a smile, messing his brother hair. He was trying to act as normal as possible right now. It wasn't the time to tell his brother what he found out. He need it to digest the information himself before telling the other.

 

"How did the day went so far? All good?" he asked eating an apple that he had on his plate. Even if he wasn't that hungry he had to have something in his stomach. Plus, a little conversation with Daniel was a calming one. At least that's what he was auto-suggesting himself.

A frown crossed Daniel's face when Chris spoke telling him that their parents probably had problems that they didn't want to bother them with, why did it seem that his brother was on the same page with their parents? It always made him feel like a little kid when he did that, as if the three of them were keeping things from him. Then again it could just be him being paranoid, it wasn't like that would be the first time, though he still felt like the three older members of his family were keeping something from him.

 

It was the question as to how his day had gone so far that made him shrug wondering if he should be honest about it, after a moment he decided not to do so and just said one simple word, "Fine." After what had happened at the party it was his fight, he couldn't keep letting Chris take care of him, not when it came to sticking up for him, he was still embarrassed that the older man had to have come to his aide that night. He had to fight his own battles, and the only way he was going to do that was if he stopped running to Chris with his problems.

Chris smiled and messed his brother hair a little. He knew that the other didn't like it when he was doing so but he still love it to see his brother getting angry over little things. His brother that wasn't his brother.

 

"After school I want to go for a ride.... care to join me?" he said with a small smile on his face waiting for his brother's answered. He wanted to tell him what he found out so that there would be no problem in acting outside the house as lovers. Practically they were not related. It wasn't a problem anymore. Even in school he could tell and act like a boyfriend.

Daniel huffed when Chris messed with his hair giving his brother a dirty look, he was aware that Chris knew it bugged him but the older an would do so anyways. After a moment he shook his head before relaxing in his seat a little bit, thinking about the odd way their parents had been acting and the fact that Chris had not been around this morning. Something told him he should be a little worried, but if his brother didn't see to be then he assumed it was safe to relax and not think much about it himself.

 

It was a moment later that he heard his older brother speak, and he glanced up at him when he asked if he wanted to go for a ride later. "Ah... sure." he answered not really sure what else he should say, it was more time to spend with the other man so it wasn't like he was going to pass it up.

As the bell rang the beginning of the classes, Chris just winked at his brother, messing his hair before leaving the caffeteria and heading back to his next course. He was thinking of the moment he was going to tell his brother. Was he going to be happy or was he going to be sad that they are not in fact brothers and that maybe he doesn't like him anymore. He kind of read something for the past years that came up in his mind. A person can no longer like a thing or another person if they find out they are available. There isn't anymore the thrill that it's something forbidden and shortly,they lose interest. Chris narrowed his eyes at that thought. He didn't want Daniel to forget him or not being interested in him. He got used to him being around him, buzzing him around. He loved him and blamed him for turning out so pervert, but now. Now they had the chance to be together.

 

As the hours were passing by and the classes had finished, he patiently waited for his brother in the parking lot, near a car that was the basketball team's. It was a minivan with plenty of sits in the back for them to fit.

Daniel gave his brother a dirty look when the older man got up and messed up his hair once more, before he watched him head to class. For a moment he just sat there and quickly fixed his hair before gathering his things and heading to class himself. He was still thinking about how strange his brother and parents had been acting today, and it just made him wonder if all three were hiding something from him. Shaking his head he tried not to think about it to much as he slipped into his seat just in time for class to start.

 

The day just seemed to drag on after that, but before to long it was over. He stopped by his locker to put some things in it he no longer needed before heading off to meet up with Chris. He found him in the parking lot by the van that belonged to his team and moved over to him. "You look like you are thinking to hard." he commented as he stopped before his brother a small smirk crossing his face.

His thoughts were broke by Daniel's voice, which let Chris relax a little bit more and smile in amusement. His brother started to read him to damn easy. It was getting harder and harder to fake something or trying to have a poker face around him. Seems like his brother got all his tricks.

 

"It doesn't smell like burning around here so I'm fine" he said making a joke about his hard thinking. He took a step away from the van and open the door to let his brother get in. After he walked beside the van and got on the driver seat sighing. With one small gesture he caught Daniel's chin , turning and pulling him a little closer and pressed his lips on the other's into a small kiss. When he finished he smiled like a little devil and winked at the other.

Daniel laughed softly at his brother's joke a small smirk crossing his face, though he glanced at the van door when Chris opened it for him. For a moment he just looked at his brother before slipping into the seat and watching the door shut behind him, waiting patiently for his older brother to join him. He didn't have to wait to long, though he wasn't really sure why Chris had wanted to meet here or what the older man was really up to. Surprised when his chin was caught he kissed him back, leaning into the kiss a soft pleased hum escaped his lips as they parted.

 

Eyes locking on Chris and noticing the look on the other man's face making him smirk himself and laugh softly. "You look nothing short of devious when you look at me like that." he teased. He still didn't really understand what his brother was up to, but he knew that he did enjoy being with him, and though it seemed strange to meet at the van and now be sitting within it he wasn't about to complain. Especially since it meant that he was with his brother, alone, and that was something he was always up for.

"I try my best now" he said laughing while starting the engine and driving away from school heading towards the down town for after to get to the high way. "What do you think if we escape from home and school for a day?" he asked keeping his attention at the road but trying to figure out what Daniel was thinking or at least what his face was showing out.

 

"Like a day-vacation. Mom and dad said it was fine as long as we are careful" he said laying about the part with their parents. He didn't talk with them or even asked permission or anything. But, give the fact that he just found a big secret he needed to be away for at least a day.

Watching as Chris started the engine Daniel just settled back against his seat, eyes going to the window as the older man started to drive down the road noticing he was heading downtown but not really knowing what his brother was doing. When he was asked what he thought about getting away for a day he glanced back towards the older man, "Sounds fun, it's not like I'm never against leaving town or school for a day." he admitted with a small shrug. He felt like their parents would never allow them to leave though, but Chris addressed his own concerns for that a moment later telling him that they had said it was okay as long as they were careful.

 

It seemed like Chris had it all planned out, and he wondered if that really was the case. Not questioning it though he turned slightly in his seat to face his brother putting his back more or less to his window and pulling his legs up into his seat so he was sitting on them. "Where are we going?" he questioned, truly curious about just what Chris was thinking, whether he had even planned a location or if they were just going nowhere in particular.

"I don't have a place in mind yet" he said narrowing his eyes trying to find one in the back of his mind. In between he turned on the radio starting to sing a song that was playing, keeping the rhythm with his hand on the wheel. In just a second he remembered a vacation house that their parents had outside the town, right near a lake. It was a perfect place for a relaxing day.

 

"I just remembered the perfect place" he added smiling victoriously.

 

Making a few more turns, he manage to get to the highway and in about 20 minutes they were entering an ale that was taking them deep in the forest.

Nodding Daniel returned his gaze to the scene outside his window as Chris turned on the radio, barely paying much attention to the song or the fact that the older man was singing along with it. It wasn't until he heard his brother say that he had figured out where they were going that he spared him a glance but otherwise didn't show any sign that he had heard him before his eyes returned to the scene outside of his window.

 

It wasn't to long before he noticed them heading into the woods, his curiosity growing slightly but he still didn't speak. He wasn't that talkative on road trips to begin with, so it wasn't like it was out of character for him to have gone this long without speaking. As Chris drove along the road and they went further into the woods he glanced back towards his brother, he wondered how he had even asked their parents for them to take a day trip. It seemed a bit strange that they would agree, considering they would be missing a day of school, but at the same time he really was happy to be getting away from town and it was just the two of them, even better.

The house was having a small garden all around it and behind was laying the beautiful sea that was surrounding half of the city. It was a single store house, with small dorms and living room.

 

"How I've missed this place" he said getting out of the car and heading towards the main door to look for the key's under the post locker.

 

"Come on" he said looking at his brother that was just getting out of the car.

Daniel was silent as they pulled up to the house, looking up at it as they came to a stop. He heard Chris speak as his brother slipped out of the van, but for a moment he remained completely still. It was only after a moment or two passed that he slipped out of the van himself and moved off after his brother. Rolling his eyes when he was encouraged to follow the older man, a small smirk crossing his face as he shook his head.

"I know its a little wierd that i drived all the way here without even telling you, but i have to tell you something" he said putting some woods together to make fire.

 

"I just found out that we are not brothers" he said with his back turned to Daniel. "I was adopted" he added turning his head looking at his brother.

Daniel watched Chris as he put some wood together in the fire place to make a fire. Resting himself on the couch to watch the progress a thoughtful look crossing his face at the mention of bringing him here to tell him something. Curiosity was also bubbling up inside of him as he watched his brother.

 

What left Chris' lips shocked him and his face showed that instantly. They... weren't brothers? That for some reason was a thought that Daniel really did not want to accept. How could that be? Even though it was clear considering Chris had told him that the man he thought was his brother was really adopted. Something inside of him told him that the feeling he had right now was hurt at just not having been told sooner. Had their parents ever intended to tell them?

 

A frown crossed his face as he glanced towards the floor not really sure what to say at the moment. It didn't change the fact that he very much loved Chris. What changed about his love is though before he thought it was something that wouldn't be accepted and that was frowned upon turned out not to be a problem. If the older man wasn't his biological brother then they weren't crossing any taboo line. It just hurt to hear that the person he had grown up with thinking was his brother really... wasn't.

 

Sighing he looked back up at the older man, "It sucks... to think that we aren't related like that. But no matter what you are still my brother. Though I guess this also means that we don't have to worry about people not accepting us being together." That really was a huge plus. But he knew it was going to take him awhile to truly accept the fact that Chris wasn't related to him by blood even if no matter what he would always think of him as his older brother. Was that a bad thing? He wasn't sure, he didn't even know if Chris would want him to continue to think of him that way.
