“Why is school even that important?”

“It can’t be that important.”

“Wouldn’t you rather have me around then ship me off to school anyways?”

 

"It is important for you to know what you're going to do with your life further. It's not like i will be forever there, not that i will leave your anything, but it is good for you to learn to be independent" he said keeping his eyes on the road. As Nick was older than Daniel with 3 years he knew what he was talking about. School was important in finding a good paid job and live on your own or even be able to travel and see the world.

 

"Is there something else that you don't want to go back?" he asked not knowing about what happened at school. They never talked about those things. They just arrived in the parking lot where he stopped and looked at Daniel narrowing his eyes. "Did something happened at school?" he asked.

Daniel sighed when Nick spoke, he felt like he was being reprimanded even if he knew that probably wasn't Nick's intention. What he wasn't expecting was for Nick to ask him if something had happened at school, turning his face away from him he tried to keep his face emotionless but it was almost impossible. The memory of the events that had happened made his eyes tear up, and his heart start racing. It was something he truly didn't want to think about, the only person who knew what had happened that night other than Kyle and his goons was Chris.

 

"Of course not." He said softly his voice seeming to lose any strength that it once held. Since they were in the parking lot of the hospital he reached for the door handle to get out of the car and head inside. He didn't want to discuss what had happened and hoped that for right now at least it wouldn't be pushed.

Nick could see the change in his behave and the way he avoided his gaze. something happened but he doesn't want to tell me ... he doesn't trust me ... he thought narrowing his eyes seeing how desperate Daniel was to get out the car avoiding the talk.. Biting his lip he caught Daniel by his arm and stopped him before getting out of the car.

 

"Daniel .... It's alright ... You don't have to run if you don't want to tell me" he said in a soft voice looking with concerned at the other. "I am not forcing you" he added sighing. "I'm just worried ... can you blame me for that?" he said with a small faded smirk on his face.

Turning to look at Nick when his arm was grabbed he barely managed to force himself to meet his gaze. He frowned at the words, "It's not you I'm running from." He replied his voice still soft though slightly more pained. "N-now just isn't the time to talk about this. I'm sorry..." Daniel added after a moment turning his gaze back away from Nick. "No. I can never blame you for being worried about me but... now just really isn't the time. We can... talk about it later after our visit." Of course this was the last thing he really wanted to discuss but he knew that it was necessary.

 

Taking in a deep breath he sighed softly before turning to look at him again, "Lets just go inside. I promise we can have an actual talk about this later." Daniel did trust Nick, he had a lot of trust in the older man. Later he would be more willing to discuss what had happened, preferably after a drink or two but he would give that little detail later as well.

He nodded and got out of the car, heading to the hospital entrance standing right beside Daniel reaching the room where Chris was in.

 

"Mom i'm not hungry" said Chris trying to run away from his mother that was trying to force him to eat.

"You are weak, you have to" she said.

"I'm weak not handicap" he added turning his gaze to the door. "Nick?" he asked looking confused. "Bro what's up? Long time no seeing" he said smiling at Nick which only made Nick even more uncomfortable.

"Hei" he said being confused.

"Daniel ... so glad your here brother ... Please escape me from mom" he said pointing towards here.

Nick looked confused to Daniel not understanding what happened.

Daniel walked silently beside Chris as they entered the hospital and set off for Chris' room. What he wasn't expecting was for them to walk into such a scene, apparently their mother was trying to force Chris to eat. His brother on the other hand very much looked like he was trying to flee. To make things more confusing Chris greeted Nick almost like you would an old friend... but Daniel knew that Nick and Chris hadn't been friends in years. In fact... the way Chris was acting was something he hadn't seen in a long time.

 

Suddenly his brother was speaking to him and he glanced towards their mother, "Mom just leave him be. He'll eat when he is ready." Daniel said though he doubted she would listen to him. He understood why she wanted him to eat but pressing him to do so wasn't going to make a difference. Then his gaze turned back to Chris, "How are you feeling?" He asked the other man his eyes showed his confusion.

"Im fine. Mom said that i had an accident but i dont remember driving" he said narrowing his eyes, scratching his head. "The last think i remember is that i left you guys at the caffee so thar you have your date" he said feeling a little pain in his head.

 

Date? But that was ... Nick widened his eyes remembering the moment. It was his and Daniels first date. But that meant that Chris had lost his memory. He placed a hand on Daniels shoulder and looked at him.

 

"Dont worry. Mom knows about you too. And from how you guys act seems that all went well" said chris smiling.

 

"

[Sathenus]

Daniel was stunned by what Chris told him. 'But that's not possible... that was a few years ago!' Turning to look at Nick when he felt the older man's hand on his shoulder. Daniel didn't know what to do or say, even the comment about their mom knowing and that the date must have gone well. Part of him was upset that Chris didn't remember anything that had happened between them, but it also meant Chris didn't remember that he was adopted.

 

Glancing toward their mother he spoke, "Is this... permanent?" No matter what he knew he'd still love Chris, but... maybe if Chris didn't remember anything having happened between them then he could really keep Nick without feeling guilty.

Their mother shaked her head in a no sighn. "Doctor said is temporary that because of a shock he remained in that date" she whispered to Daniel locking at him and at Nick.

"Mom dont panik Daniel with your stories. When do i go home"

[Sathenus]

Nodding at the news Daniel wondered why it was that date that his brothers mind seemed to have gone back to. Glancing towards Nick he gave him a confused look wondering if maybe he had any input. Hearing Chris speak he couldn't help but laugh softly and shake his head.

 

Glancing back towards his mother he asked the same thing, "So... When is he able to leave? I mean if he's awake even if he can't... you know... there really isn't any reason for him to stay here right?"

"They have to keep him here over the weekend to run some tests, plus he needed a rest with someone in his care. Over the weekend there is no one home so he will be here in good hands" she said caressing the sick boy smiling softly.

 

"I don't need care. Really? I'm old enough to take care of me" Chris said narrowing his eyes.

 

Nick was still under shock seeing Chris talking so carefree towards Daniel and him. He was still trying to understand why Chris could only remember a period of time from 2 years ago, the moment where he and Daniel got their first date. Ironically it was thanks to him. It was only after when he had troubles with his gang that Chris started to be overprotective and getting closer and closer to Daniel, until he turned Daniel against him and that's why they broke up. It was really ironic and he thought that fate was mocking him up. The same person that brought him and Daniel together was the same person that got them apart. It was because of that betrayal that they stopped being friends but he just couldn't stop care and love Daniel.

 

It was a teenage love, his first true love not all the nightstands that he had for the past year. It was the real deal and Chris knew that, but trying to be a good brother he crossed the line and ended up loving Daniel. He broke their word, which was never to interfere between ones relationship, no matter who that person was. And now, ironically again, he was the one that broke that code. He just got together with Daniel while he was trying to find his real family. no .... why didn't i figure it out sooner ... he thought taking a step back and getting out of the room, walking slowly on the hall.

 

Now that Daniel didn't had to look for his family, Daniel was happy. He didn't had to worry to much anymore about Chris leaving his side or the other stuff that he thought before, but be able to get back with him. He felt a short sting in his heart just thinking about that. Even if Daniel told him that he wouldn't let go, he couldn't be together with both of them at the same time. He had to chose eventually. Even if Chris was ok with him again, that wasn't changing what happened. Chris could gain his memory back any moment and would change again the situation.

 

His head was spinning. To much thinking of this situation was exhausting him, making him dizzy. Once thin was sure, he was going to lose Daniel again just before they could start to be together again. And all because of Chris again. He clenched his hands into fists, just thinking about it. Even if he knew in what he was getting into it was still hurting, but he couldn't hurt Daniel with his selfishness. After all, in all this picture, he was the intruder. He exhaled the air in his lungs trying to calm down. Daniel could be happy again with Chris, even if that meant him suffering.

 

He just didn't knew what to do anymore. He manage to get outside reaching his car and leaning on it with his hands, bending his head down. It was to complicated for him to handle but he just couldn't tell Daniel about what he was thinking.

The news that Chris would have to remain in the hospital over the weekend really didn’t make any sense to him. After all, it seemed silly that Chris would need to be tended to over the weekend, he seemed perfectly fine and was more than capable of taking care of himself. Still, their mom had one point in all of this, if Chris was in the hospital under the care of the staff if meant they wouldn’t have to worry about him. “There really isn’t any point in you arguing, Chris. This isn’t something you can win.” Daniel commented giving his brother a small smile before turning his gaze back to Nick who had suddenly turned and walked off down the hall.

 

Confused he watched him leave before he frowned and looked down at his feet, mind suddenly racing. He didn’t know why Nick had left yet again, wasn’t the other man happy that Chris didn’t remember what had happened between them? When was he ever going to be able to stand in Chris’ presence again and be treated like a friend versus an enemy? Daniel truly didn’t know but it was just more and more confusing as he turned his attention back to Chris and his mom. Walking over to Chris he pulled his brother into a tight hug, “Well, I’m really glad you are okay.” He murmured as they hugged before pulling back and turning to their mom.

 

“I should really get going. Nick had some errands he wanted to run today and I really don’t want to keep him tied up.” Daniel said lying through his teeth. It seemed like she didn’t see through his lie so he said goodbye to both of them and hugged her quickly before leaving the room and tried to find Nick. It had taken him longer than he expected, by the time he found Nick it had become clear that he was once again not in the building.

 

Finding Nick leaning against his car he frowned, watching the older man from a distance for a moment before moving forward. He wrapped his arms around Nick’s waist and rested his head against his back, “You ran off on me again… did I do something?” Daniel questioned as his arms tightened around Nick. The more the older man ran off on him the more he started feeling like he had done something wrong. “If I did… I’m sorry.” He whispered nuzzling Nick’s back gently as his eyes drifted shut. Truthfully, Daniel didn’t know if he did something wrong or not, but he was going to apologize if he did even if he didn’t know what he did.

 

“I love you, Nick.” Daniel added after a moment of silence knowing he would do whatever he had to in order to make it so that he wasn’t mad at him. That and he really did love Nick, if Chris thought that they were already a thing it meant he could be with Nick freely. He didn’t have to fear his brother’s wrath for being with him. At least not until Chris got his memory, back, but truthfully… who knew when that would even happen. The doctors said his memory loss was temporary, they didn’t say how long it would take to get it back.

 

“I was thinking… we could maybe… go on a camping trip this weekend. Just the two of us. If you want of course.” Daniel said trying to keep his voice soft and not show just how excited he was about the idea. This seemed perfect to him, and he was going to take the chance to spend as much time with Nick as he could before Chris made it difficult again.

Nick was caught by surprised when the other wrapped his arms around him, keeping him tight in his embrace. Nick's muscles relaxed in a second feeling the other beside him. He could finally calm down, breathing deep. Inhaling and exhaling with his eyes closed he opened them immediately when the other spoke, nuzzling his nose on his back.

“You ran off on me again… did I do something?”

“If I did… I’m sorry.”

“I love you, Nick.”

 

"You didn't do anything wrong" he said removing the others arms so that he can turned around and hug him normally. Keeping him at his chest it was feeling so good that he just didn't want to let go. He hated all the things he thought just now. In his mind was a battle between his rational mind that was saying he should enjoy the moments he had with Daniel, but there was the other part where the 'what if's' where running around like in a rodeo. "I'm sorry for running out the room like that. Didn't want you to worry. I love you too" he said kissing the forehead of the other breathing in his shampoo scent. Daniel was smelling just like him which made him happy.

“I was thinking… we could maybe… go on a camping trip this weekend. Just the two of us. If you want of course.”

"What about your brother?" he tense for a bit thinking again about Chris and how this situation will get worst with each day because of him. Was it because of Chris or because Nick wanted to blame Chris? That he couldn't tell, but he wanted to spend more time as possible with the other and not letting Chris have the chance to snick him again from him. "I would like to. But for that we might need some shopping to do" he added lifting Daniels face up to him. Looking at him, he just couldn't imagine how it would feel to lose him again.

Confused when he was told that he hadn’t done anything wrong Daniel couldn’t understand why Nick had run off. Frowning as he stood there pressed against the older man’s back as he tried to figure it out. A moment later Nick was speaking again as he was undoing his arms turning around before he was taken into a proper hug, his arms wrapping instinctively around Nick once more head resting on his chest. Humming his approval Daniel just remained resting against Nick, enjoying the warmth of the other’s body and their closeness.

 

The response he had to asking if Nick wanted to go camping was unexpected, tilting his head back he looked up at him. “What about him? He’ll be fine without me, he doesn’t need me by his side all the time and he is more than capable of taking care of himself. Memory loss or no memory loss.” Daniel replied. He didn’t understand why Nick seemed to be worried about his brother and he had felt him tense, leaning up he pressed their lips together. “Relax, you’re mine. Stop worrying about my brother.”

 

Daniel worried about Chris enough as it was, he didn’t want Nick to worry about him as well. It was more important that he had the man in his arms relaxed and happy then tense and constantly worrying about someone who as of right now was no longer a problem for them. “Look, Chris losing his memory is probably the best thing that could have happened. It means we can be together without having to run around behind his back or worry about his temper. You heard him in there, this Chris is okay with us being together.”

 

“Shopping for what?” Daniel questioned pulling back enough to look up at him. As long as they were going camping he could care less about anything else, but if Nick said they may need to go shopping it was obviously for a reason. It just made him wonder what they may need to get for the trip, pressing himself against Nick once more he tucked his head under the older man’s chin and let his eyes slip shut. “I could really get used to just being with you like this. Not having to worry about anything.” He mused.

"Maybe your right" he said smiling in the corner of his mouth kissing him back, relaxing again. Maybe it was really a good think that Chris had that accident and had a memory loss. God knows that he didn't wish for something like that to happen but it was at the right time. Breathing deep he sight looking at the other how confused he was about the shopping.

 

"We need to get what we need for the trip cause we will not stay in a hotel or motel or whatever. I want to enjoy the real thing" he said lifting and settle down his shoulders in a small shrug. "First we need to get a tend, then sleeping bags, some mattresses, a grill, those mosquito killer light thing" he started to lay out all the things they needed, making amusing faces as he was trying to explain those things. He never knew the real names, he just knew that they are needed.

 

"Oh ... and we should make a bonfire and in that case we need to take some thick blankets" he started being more exciting than the other who came up with the idea in the first place.

[Sathenus]

“We can have an actual relationship… be together with no worries.” Daniel murmured against Nick’s lips glad that Nick seemed to agree with him and relax once more. It was more important that Nick was comfortable and not worried about anything than anything else in Daniel’s opinion. Snuggling against him again he listened as the older man talked about what they would need for the trip, going from a tent, sleeping bags, grill and so on. “My parents have some stuff like that. We used to go camping a lot when we were younger, before they got so busy with work. I am sure we could borrow some of it.”

 

Glancing up at Nick after he finished speaking, “Unless you really want to buy everything new.” Daniel loved how excited Nick seemed to be getting about the camping trip, it honestly made him even more excited. He had really just seen the trip as a way to get away from everyone and everything, just the two of them out in the woods, under the stars. It sounded fantastic, and the more he thought about it the more he was looking forward to it. “A bonfire sounds great.” Daniel commented thinking about the thick blankets that Nick also said they would need.

 

That of course maid him give his boyfriend a questioning look, then again the word boyfriend with Nick seemed weird. Not bad, but certainly weird. Leaning up he placed his lips closer to Nick’s ear and spoke in a soft whisper, “Does this mean the date is on? A camping trip with my boyfriend would be great way to relax.” A small smirk pulled at the corner of his lips as he pulled away to move around the car. “We should get everything together.” He commented.

“My parents have some stuff like that. We used to go camping a lot when we were younger, before they got so busy with work. I am sure we could borrow some of it.

“Unless you really want to buy everything new.”

 

"Neah ... it's fine by me. If they are in good shape then we can take them" he said smiling, amused but also happy at the same time. He was going away from everyone else with Daniel. Just the two of them. Not that in the house were other people or something like that. It was just the thought that were no signals on phones and they were literally alone, with no one to interrupt them.

“Does this mean the date is on? A camping trip with my boyfriend would be great way to relax.”

 

Nick smirked as he looked after Daniel while he was getting in the car. He did the same, turning on the radio and starting to drive towards Daniels home. They were about to relax, but not long. He was about to enjoy way to much the trip It would be one of a kind and memorable. Making the list in his head what they needed to shop eating and drinking supplies he took Daniels hand, holding it on his knee, wrapping his fingers together.

“They are.” Daniel said with a small nod as he slipped into the car and buckled up. Glancing towards Nick as he got in as well and started the vehicle. It wasn’t long before they were heading towards his home to get the supplies that his family already had, they had been big on family trips and vacations while he and Chris were younger. As they got older their parents grew more focused in work, though they would still go on extravagant vacations they weren’t nearly as often as they had once been. Looking down at his hand when he felt Nick grab it and place it on his knee, their fingers twining together made him smile. Eyes moving back to the scenery outside of the window, everything seemed so normal, like this was how it was supposed to be.

 

It was strange really, knowing that just a few days ago things like this were what he was doing with Chris. Yet here he was with Nick, Chris having absolutely no memory of any of the moments they had once shared with each other. Daniel then realized that it also meant Chris had no memory of what had happened to him the night of the Halloween party. As of right now, it meant he had no one to turn to regarding the events of that night, but at the same time… did he really need anyone? He was fine after all, there hadn’t been any lasting effects. Well… if you could exclude the fact that he was reluctant to step foot back in that school and face Kyle again.

 

Pushing such thoughts aside he knew that now wasn’t the time for such thoughts. It didn’t take them long to get to his home, leaning over to kiss Nick’s cheek before he slipped out of the car and lead Nick up to the front door. Pulling his keys out he unlocked the door and entered the house heading instantly for the basement where he knew the equipment was located. Flicking on the basement light he lead the way downstairs pointing out the tent easily, “The rest of the stuff is right over here.” Daniel added pointing to their right just under the stairs.

After they arrived he fallowed the other into the house, heading after in the basement where they found the tend and sleeping bags. All that there was still needed was the mattresses and the food supplies. He carried all out to his car dumping them in the back seat. It was strange to enter again in Daniel's house after all this time. But he was also happy. He was a complicated man. His feelings were like a roller-coaster.

 

"I still remember your room and how you sneaked me in a few times. I am amazed that I don't have any bruises from all the climbing you put me through" he said laughing looking at the second floor where Daniel's room was. It was fun at that time, feeling the adrenaline rushing in his vain trying to ignore the sensation that in any minute they would get caught by his father which wasn't so happy about their relation. Not that now he was any different.

Laughing softly Daniel smirked at Nick, "I didn't hear you complaining at the time." He replied as he grabbed a few of the things they would need for their camping trip. Even he vividly remembered having Nick climb through his window at night knowing that ihs father was the onle person who from the start did not approve of their relationship. Even if things were the same now it was only because Nick was an older guy, even if only by three years. Still, Daniel thought it was ridiculous for his father to not like Nick, he thought the older man would like anyone that treated him well. After all, he was the one who had hurt Nick a few years ago not the other way around.

 

Thinking back on that he shook his head before moving over to Nick and handing him the sleeping bags. "Maybe... I can convince you to do it again sometime." He said in a teasing voice. Part of him was serious though, it wasn't like his parents would allow him to get away with not coming home for much longer, especially once Chris returned home. It meant they would probably end up going to such lengths again to remain near each other. Not that Daniel was going to complain, it just made things a little more difficult.

"No thank you ... i had enough experience with climbing for a life time" he said laughing not wanting to climb the house again. It was to much back then but now, it was even harder. He got old and even if he was a bildet man, it was still hard.

 

"Lets get the food and after home to prepare everything to be done" he said pointing to his car. Before the boy got in his car, he kissed him on his cheek whispering. "But i would like to fuck you in your own bed one time" he winked getting to his seat. " But sneaking on the front door" he smirked starting the engine.

Daniel pouted at Nick when he said he had enough climbing for a life time. He really was determined to get him to do it at least one more time, just for old times sake. But, he supposed he could always worry about that another time as they took the items out to the car and packed it away. Glancing back towards Nick when he heard him speak he groaned softly, that thought alone was enough to light his body on fire.

 

Moving around the car he climbed into his seat and buckled up glancing towards Nick when he said that he wanted to sneak in through the front door. Rolling his eyes a small smirk crossed Daniel's face, he figured that was the least he could do after all. Let Nicks neak in through the front door, especially if sex was on the table, granted even if it wasn't he would still let him use the front door as long as he was coming to see him. "Alright, I suppose I won't make you use my window, though it would be something to see you try it again." Daniel commented.

"If you want to see me in the hospital , no problem" he said turning on the road to head faster to his house. He was a little tired after that morning and the running back and ford. His phone rand and picked it up.

 

"Whats up?" He asked narrowing his eyes still paying attemtion to tge driving."Sure .. what time?" He asked further stopping the car in his parking lot. "Alright. We meet you at the entrance" he said looking at Daniel. "Yeah , ill be there with someone" he added smiling than hanging up. He got out of the car waiting for daniel to get in the house.

 

"We are invited to a night out in club" he inforned the other. "We need to be ther in 2 hours so we have time to shower and eat before leaving" he added heading in thw kitchen to make himself a sandwish. He was starving.

[Sathenus]

"No... we wouldn't want that." Daniel replied. There was no way that he wanted Nick to end up in the hospital, even if he did want to see him attempt climbing through his window again. It truly wasn't worth the risk now that he was thinking about it. Drawn from his thoughts when Nick's phone rang he glanced towards him, watching him as he spoke on the phone.

 

Once he hung up and they were both out or the car he was about to ask what the call was about when Nick started to speak. Raising an eyebrow at the news he didn't immediately respond, finally he decided to ask his main question. "Invited by who?" Of course it wasn't like he knew who most if any of Nick's friends were but he was still curious.

 

Despite not being the class b type of guy he didn't refuse not truly minding. Daniel figured as long as he had Nick by his side the rest didn't truly matter at that point.

"Some friends from highschool" he respond with his mouth full, chewing and chewing the food. "Not those that you remember. This are nice guys, you'll like them" he added taking another bite from his samdwitch.

 

He had found a few new friends that accepted him as he was and not judging him. In fact, they were couples aswell, but they were hanging out from time to time in diferent bars.
