The news that they had known each other for so long but had currently been together for only a week brought a smile to his face. This was perfect really, obviously this was their second attempt at becoming more, something had pushed them apart previously and it was only a matter of time before something did so again. “Oh I see, how do you think it’s going this time? It’s not always easy to try again after one failed relationship.” It was a bold move but necessary. Louis needed to get Nick’s feelings about the whole thing straightened out.

 

At the question about him and Jack he laughed, “Just good friends. More of he said he needed to bring someone along and I was the only person who didn’t already have plans. Guess that’s the single life.” He mused thinking about it for a moment. “Though I suppose I’m the one who got lucky.” Louis added as he watched Nick pick up another drink. Normally he’d probably comment, but he knew that the more Nick drank the more open he would become. That was common with most people who drank and it also made things easier for him. No one would realize how deep he was digging into the couple’s relationship. Jack and the others were laughing and drinking on the other side of the campfire.

“Oh I see, how do you think it’s going this time? It’s not always easy to try again after one failed relationship.”

 

"Surprisingly well. I never thought that things might turn around this way after a previous break up. But I'm glad it ended up like this after all it happened and we went through" he said with a sigh, drinking half of bottle, his smile vanishing away for a few seconds as he remembered the one and only obstacle on his happiness. Chris. As long as Chris was still around, Daniel was never gonna be fully his. Shaking his head to ignore those dark thoughts he turned and look at Louis laughing as he heard the other getting lucky.

 

"I don't know how lucky you were with him, but ... any friend of Jack and the rest of the gang is a friend of mine" he said raising his beer up in the air making a toast than drinking the full content of the bottle. The beer was drinking pretty fast. He started to feel a little dizzy but he really needed this drink.

Louis had to hide the smirk that was threatening to cross his face hearing Nick admit that things hadn’t ended well the last time. He waited for Chris to finish drinking half his beer and notice the other’s smile fade before he spoke. “What happened previously to get between you two? He seems rather possessive, I don’t see him letting go of someone he seems so into.” He had to put up a front and seem like he was looking into the best interest of the couple. That of course wasn’t the case, he needed to weasel his way in, but it had to start with gaining more trust from Nick.

 

Following the other’s lead, he drank more of his beer as Nick finished his. “Glad to hear.” He commented with a smile. Well, being considered a friend was a start. Louis knew that he had only one full day and night to give this a shot. If it failed there was nothing he could do, but maybe he could have at least a little fun. Then there was another thing that he wanted to look into, “I’m surprised you let him go on that hike alone. What with it being so close to sundown and all. I would have thought you’d stick closer to him.”

"As I said ... It's more complicated than one could ever understand" he said laughing his sorrow from his heart out. Again memories came to his head so he tried to shake his head in order to get lose of them. He didn't want to live in the past or in his memories. They were together now and that was all that counted.

“I’m surprised you let him go on that hike alone. What with it being so close to sundown and all. I would have thought you’d stick closer to him.”

"I've tried but he wanted to be alone. I'm sure he didn't go to far" he said looking up at the sky that was turning darker and darker. He looked at the fire that was slowly fading and the wood that was slowly running out. "Care to look for some wood to add to the fire?" he asked letting down the beer, heading to the ale where Sam and Mark were before."Guy, we're going getting some wood for the fire" he said waiting for Louis

Louis was aware of even after all that Nick had drank he refused to truly touch base on the question. Something had happened that Nick was trying to ignore, and he wanted to find out what it was. The perfect chance came when he was asked if he wanted to go with him to get some more wood for the dwindling fire. Nodding he agreed, it was a good way for them to be alone and maybe, just maybe he could get more out of him. As they left the clearing he waited until he was sure no one else could hear them. “You know, Nick. Talking about it might be helpful. Ignoring your problems, past or otherwise isn’t good for you.”

 

Something had happened between them and he was determined to figure out what. As they gathered more wood he spoke with Nick some more, coming to understand more about the other man. Having taken the conversation off of Nick’s relationship with Daniel, at least for the moment. Once they had gathered enough wood and were on their way back he decided to make a move. “You know… if he has hurt you once there is nothing stopping him from doing it again. Would it hurt for you to try something new? Or… someone?” He purred. He was careful though, not sure if Nick was aware enough to know what he was even hinting at.

"Louis ... is not that i don't want to talk about ... I don't want to remember" he said with a sigh starting to gather as much wood as possible, trying to find the small ones which were burning quicker but taking also some big branches aswell. It was only when the other spoke he stopped to look at him, not sure if he understood. All the drinking wasn't that good with the carrying.

“You know… if he has hurt you once there is nothing stopping him from doing it again.”

"Daniel wouldn't hurt me ..." he said with a sad smile on his face. "He just ... can't leg of old connections, but i knew that from the beginning " he shrugged looking down for a second, thinking again in what he got himself into.

Narrowing his eyes Nick looked again at Louis confusing. "Wh-What do you mean?"

“So you are running from those memories.” Louis concluded when he was told that Nick didn’t want to remember. It was just as bad in his opinion, even if he knew some people would argue otherwise. As they walked he heard him say that Daniel wouldn’t hurt him. “He already has once, Nick. What’s keeping him from doing so again?” He asked wanting to plant that seed of doubt into Nick’s mind. Once planted he knew it would do the rest without his help, it was just a matter of watching it all unfold.

 

At the question of what he meant Louis moved closer stopping in his tracks and reaching over to stop Nick. Taking the lead he pressed his lips forcefully to Nick’s taking immediate control. “I mean, it might be better for you to move on with someone who hasn’t hurt you, someone who won’t. Daniel has hurt you once already, there is nothing keeping him from doing it again. Just his word. That’s not very reliable.”

Before he could do one more step or even say anything, the other stopped him and stood in front of him pressing his lips against his, letting Nick in surprise. Wh...what ...

His eyes remained open and locked on the others as he continued talking. Narrowing his eyes he pushed the other away from him not wanting to hear anymore.

"And probably that othet person would be you? A total stranger who just dropped himself in my life. Now thats hylarious" he said laughing nervously. This guy a control that he wasnt used to. He was the one in control every time, but now, the other was dominating him and ge was scared, not wanting to go back to that self. "You dont know any of us and your no better than to hurt me, but at least Daniel will remain near me" he said in an angry voice, trying to convince himself of that idea.

"What's better Nick? A guy who even if he hurts you will stick close just because he wants what you so willingly will give him? Or a guy who truly wants you?" Louis asked his eyes hardening. He could tell by the way Nick pushed him away he wasn't used to another man being dominate in this sort of situation. It made it clear to him what position Daniel played, not like there was ever really any doubt in his mind. Right now it seemed more like Nick wanted to keep the younger male for one reason only, though he wasn't entirely against someone keeping a guy around for that he knew Nick would be happier with someone like him instead.

 

"Come now. At some point Daniel was a stranger to you know, and look how hard you are trying to defend his actions. We both know he'll hurt you again. Well... unless you teach him his place. But by the way you are acting I don't think you can. You act dominate and in control when it comes to him, but he's really the one calling the shots isn't he?" His voice had taken on an amused tone. Reaching out he cupped Nick's cheek, "You're encouraging his bad behavior. Letting him run you the way he is, and yet you defend him. Drop the child, and I'll show you what it's like to be with someone who actually wants you." Louis purred.

"Just stop it dude ... You don't know me nor Daniel. What ... you heard a little story from my side and now you're assuming you know everything but you know nothing" spit the words out feeling angry, and with a little alcohol on board it wasn't a good thing.

Nick swallowed his words before speaking. Louis had a point. He would do anything for Daniel, but wasn't because he was played by the other but because they loved eachother and that was a complete different thing. or is it not, he thought feeling his head spin because of the drinking and angryness. What was this guy doing with his head. He was messing with him, letting out all his insecurities that were well hidden. He just couldn't go back to were he once was. The moment Nick started speaking Louis knew he hit a nerve, but it was a good thing. If he was getting to Nick like this it meant the man knew he was right, and was trying to do everything he could to deny him. Well, he was going to make it hard for him to do so. It wasn't like it was his first time seeing a relationship like this, he had to step in even if he didn't end up with Nick. Though, he definitely wanted to end up with him. That thought only made his smile grow as his eyes raked over the for before him, he could have a lot of fun with Nick, and he knew it.

 

"You can't tell me you haven't laid eyes on someone and realized it was more of love at first sight." Louis replied as he watched Nick. Sure, the other man had a point they had just met a few hours ago and yet here he was weaseling his way in. But Louis knew what he was doing too, and that included pushing the couple enough to see who truly ran the relationship. Every relationship had that one person who had most of the control, regardless of position, and he was trying to figure out who really had it in this relationship.

 

Who knew? Maybe he'd go to Daniel next and convince him what he was doing was wrong. But before he did that he'd have to make sure Nick truly understood how much he was letting the younger male get away with. Watching as the other dropped his wood and went back to camp he couldn't help but be pleased with himself. His work meant at the very least he had implanted some doubt, or fed the doubt already there. Now he had to see how tomorrow went between the couple and assess how he would proceed the next night.

 

Gathering up the wood Nick had dropped he returned to camp himself putting it in a pile near the fire before waving his hand. "Well, I'm off to bed. I'll see you guys in the morning." A quick glance told him that Daniel wasn't even back from his hike yet, eyes looking up at the sky said there was just a few more minutes of daylight left.

By the time Daniel was wandering back into the camp night had fallen, just a few minutes earlier but fallen all the same. Rubbing at his eyes he noticed that the atmosphere seemed different. Shrugging it off he happily went to Nick's side, leaning into him as he wrapped his arms around him before leaning up to press their lips together. "What did I miss?" He asked a little curious.

Nick was to upset and angry on Louis. How could he come to him like that and start talking like he knew everything. He wanted to hit him, beat the shit out of him, but instead he ran back in the camp like a stupid. Sitting back near the fire he got himself a beer drinking half of it in one sip. Apparantly Sam , Mark and Jack didn't notinced the long absence, and that was a good thing. Nick didn't even look at Louis as he went back in his tend. The only thing that he made was to touch his lips feeling the warmth of the other. Shaking his head he tried to remove that memory away like the rest of it. It was all an honest mistake. He didn't kiss the other, he jumped on him to kiss him. But why was he trying to find escuses right now? Daniel didn't turned from his walk so it was noone to whom he would have to explain. Hatting the fact that the other got to him and to his insecurities he drank further even more until he felt two arms wrapping around him, turning in a second to see who it was.

Seeing that it was Daniel he relaxed a little and smiled. A half drunk smile more to say. "Not much" he said shrugging, trying to ignore the guilt that started to creat in his chest. Bitting his lower lip he took another sip. "How was you walk?" he said caresing the others cheek, touching slowly the lower lip. "Wanna head back to our tend?" he whispered in his ear, kissing the back of the neck sensually.

"It was nice. Peaceful really, the woods around here are really beautiful." Daniel replied with a smile leaning forward to press a kiss to Nick's forehead this time. The whispered words the kiss to the back of his neck sent a sharp shot of pleasure down his back something he struggled to ignore as he reached out running a gently hand through Nick's hair. One thing he noticed though was the smell of alcohol on Nick's breath and by the way he was acting he was drunk or really close to it. Sighing he stepped back and reached for the beer in Nick's hand, "No more for you."

 

Setting the beer aside he reached for both of his boyfriend's hands and pulled him up to his feet, "Now lets go to our tent." He lead the way though he kept a close eye on Nick. The last thing he wanted was for the other man to get hurt, slipping into the tent he waited for the other man to join him. It had been awhile since he had seen Nick drunk like this, and the last time he hadn't been to pleased with it either. He hated it when people would drink in general, but drinking like this was pushing him a little. One drink or maybe even two depending on the drink he could get over.

Nick sprang when the drink was removed, but he oblige when the other pulled him to their tend. He needed Daniel now more than ever. He needed to feel him close, by his side, making sure he wasn't going to slip his hands this time again. He had to make Daniel see that he was better than Chris, in all ways possible. Daniel was stunned when Nick suddenly pulled away and said he couldn't only to apologize before saying he needed to take a walk. He had been about to speak when he heard Nick clarify by saying alone. Watching him leave the tent he just laid there for a moment unmoving. A frown crossed his face when reality finally sunk in. Louis heard was woken from his light sleep when he heard rustling outside of the tent. Of course he wasn't done yet, if Nick was out here, and considering how quickly he had seemed to be fleeing camp that mean something happened between the pair. What it was he was determined to find out. "Though you know... the point of getting your little toy excited and stopping is to cause suspense and make them desperate. Not make them feel unwanted." It had been clear to him what they had been about to do, considering how quickly Nick had left the camp, there really was no other explanation in his opinion for why the other male would be in such a hurry to leave.

 

"You wouldn't truly understand that though, would you?" Louis added as he moved a little closer ignoring the fact that Nick seemed almost desperate to escape him. In order for Nick to acquire his clothes it meant the man would have to come closer to him, since he now stood near the pile. "If you can't handle him anymore... not like you ever truly could. It's best to just let him go. Make room for someone else." He pressed not being shy about what he was hinting.
