Daniel hadn't expected Chris to wrap an arm around his waist pulling him closer before pressing a kiss to his cheek. It was nice though, and it was something that he found so familiar. Watching Chris head into the backyard with their father he sighed before he heard their mother speak. Turning towards the kitchen he followed her into it, taking the meat that was handed to him. His mind was still focused on something though, and his eyes moved to his mother as he helped her get the meats ready for the grill.

"Mom?" Daniel questioned waiting until he had her attention before he continued. "Do you think... now that Chris has his memory back he'll go back to looking for his real parents?" As much as Daniel wanted to believe that he wouldn't, there was a small part of him that knew that wasn't true. He was putting all of the meats on the pan to take out to Chris and their father when he felt his phone go off in his pocket.

Reaching down he pulled it out his cellphone and saw that it was a message from Nick. Instantly he felt himself get excited, happy to know that Nick was back in town. It didn't bother him to hear that he had gone to the office upon his return, he was sure he had a lot that had to be handled upon his return. What excited him the most though was hearing that Nick was up for them to hang out later tonight. Turning slightly, he leaned against the counter to reply to Nick.

'Glad to hear you got home safely. I'd love to come over later to hang out with you. My parents just got home from their business trip and are doing a BBQ to celebrate Chris getting his memory back. Do you want me to bring you something to eat when I come over?' After checking the message, he hit the send button and slipped his phone back into his pocket. They always cooked more food than was necessary when they BBQed and he knew that it wouldn't be hard to put some aside to take to Nick later if the older man wanted him to bring him something to eat.

Daniel doubted after all that Nick would really be up to cooking himself since he just got home from a business trip and all. Grabbing the pan of meats, he turned to take it out back to Chris and their father. For a moment he stopped to admire how happy the two seemed to be. It had been awhile since their family had done anything like this and it was honestly quite nice. Something that he could really appreciate for a little while.

"Mom?"

"Yes sweety?" said his mother turning her gaze back to the boy as she was closing the fridge getting all she needed out.

"Do you think... now that Chris has his memory back he'll go back to looking for his real parents?"

His mother sighed and looked towards the door that was leading to the backyard. "I don't know pumpkin" she added. "It's up to him if he still want it or not. I wish he wouldn't but if he want's to know what had happen it's his choice" she said starting to prepare the meat. "Now darling, no matter what he finds out he will still be your brother and he will be with us. I know he wouldn't leave us or anything" she said smiling kissing her boy on the cheek finishing the food.

Nick went straight to the shower to warm up and change clothes after, deciding for something cozy and loose. As he was heading downstairs his phone rang in his pocket letting him know that he got a message from Daniel. His heart hurt reading the message. He wanted to be apart of that family but apparently there was no room for him. Daniel's father didn't liked him ever since he caught him sneaking in their house, Chris didn't liked him as they love the same person. The only support he had was their mother who was so close and warm with him, just like with her own child.

See you tonight than. Enjoy

He wrote back and tuck his phone back in his pocket, jumping on his couch in the living room turning on the Tv. He had time to relax and even taking a nap. He really needed one.

He wasn't really happy with his mother's answer, but it was kind of expected. At least he didn't seem to be the only one that wished Chris wouldn't go looking for his real parents. Their mother at least seemed to see it his way, even if she was more accepting of him doing so than he was. Hearing how Chris would still be his brother and still be with them wasn't something that concerned him. He knew Chris wasn't going to leave, but that didn't mean he wanted him to go looking for his real parents.

Sighing softly at the kiss to his cheek he watched her as she finished preparing the food before they both headed out to the backyard. Daniel had just stepped out into the backyard when his phone went off again, checking it he saw that short reply and it made him wonder if he should invite him over. But... Daniel knew that Chris and his father wouldn't be so accepting of Nick coming over. Especially considering their whole point of this BBQ was to celebrate his brother getting his memory back.

There was part of Daniel that really wished that Chris and Nick could just get along, but he knew that they wouldn't. The friendship the two had once had no longer existed no matter how much Daniel wished it would return. Pushing those thoughts aside he moved over to where Chris was and watched his brother for a moment. It really was nice to have his brother back, even if he had never technically lost him, knowing Chris had his memories was even better.

It wasn't even so much that Chris remembered what had happened between them, there were other things they had shared over the past couple years that had been lost when Chris had amnesia. Smiling at his brother he spoke, "It really was nice to spend the weekend with you, Chris." It had been a nice, innocent weekend with his brother, minus the small move his brother had made the other day at the lake. But he had managed to look past that.

Chris smiled at his brother and asked everybody to join the table, and let him handle the grill further. It didn't take him long to finish preparing the meat and sit at the table as well, near his brother and in front of his parents. It was a beautiful sunny warm day that was just perfect to spend it with family. "I just wanted to say 'thank you' for all you've done for me all this years" started Chris looking at his parents. "You've been the best parents in the world and i couldn't ask for more" he continued feeling tears in his eyes. "I love you guys" he said moving to his parents hugging them hard.

"We love you too honey" said their mother crying feeling too emotional. "No matter what you decide to do you will always be our son" she added kissing him on the cheek.

"We will always support you son" added his father. The old man wasn't too emotional but you could tell he cared about Chris a lot.

"And don't worry. Apparently, in the end i only have you guys. I found out that my original family is dead and there is no one to relate in the preset. So .... You will have to put up with me a little longer before i go to college" he added laughing.

"Oh....Well of course we will keep you, you joker" said his mother laughing as well. "Now let's eat" said their Father setting the food in each plate for the rest members.

Chris sat back and drank a little before starting eating but stopped and looked at Daniel. "What?"

Moving over to the table Daniel settled himself down at it after Chris had told him to do so. Letting his brother finish cooking the meat on the grill before he joined them as well. Daniel glanced towards the older man as he spoke and was a little surprised by what he had to say. It almost sounded like his brother was trying to say good-bye and he felt his heart slam painfully into his chest at the thought of such a thing. His relief from that came when he heard his brother continue, even though he did feel a small ache for him.

Chris had a chance to meet his real family, just to find out that they had all passed and that there was no living relation. It was... sad. But Daniel had to admit there was a part of him that was happy, knowing that it truly meant his brother was his. He could love Chris without fear of being judged since they were not blood related, and he did not have to fear losing him since there was no one to take him. But... his heart ached even more at the idea of Nick and knowing he'd have to choose. It was... painful to think that he was going to hurt one of the people he loved so much.

Again he felt the turmoil within him, he felt the ache in his chest grow. Knowing he had to be hurting Chris right now, that had been made clear yesterday at the lake when Chris had made a move and he had refused him. It wasn't like him to refuse his brother after all and yet... he had done so.

Daniel was drawn from his thoughts when he heard his brother speak, turning his gaze from his plate to him. Giving the older man a small smile he spoke, "It's nothing. I just have a lot on my mind that's all." There was still an excitement in him knowing he'd be seeing Nick a little later. But, he had to focus on right now, on his brother, and on the fact that for the first time in a long time their family was spending true family time together. Eating his food he enjoyed spending time with the family, laughing and joking around. By the time they had all gotten up to go their separate ways it was starting to get dark.

After packing some food for Nick, he went to his mother letting her know he was going to go see a friend and would text her if he stayed the night. Daniel wasn't sure if Nick would want company all night where he just returned from a business trip. After saying good-bye he left the house, sending a text to Nick to let his boyfriend know he was on his way over.

Chris didn't want to think about Daniel leaving to Nick so he tried to keep himself busy with his father at the chat that they had now in the living room. He was suffering, but he had to mentain the cool attitude. Their mothers kissed Daniel giving him the package and smiled softly , joining the other two gentleman's on the couch.

Nick was asleep when he heard his phone ring, letting him know that he got a message. Stretching his arms and legs, along with his back he reached his phone and read it. It was from Daniel. He replied a simple 'ok' he sat up brushing his hair from his face. He wasn't sure what or how he should handle this now. It was feeling so off that he was surprised that he was feeling that way. It was nothing like him and he just couldn't understand why.

He went to his room and changed into a shirt and short pants. It was to warm in the house for him to be too dressed. He sat back on the couch looking into his phone until he stopped and stared at Louis's number. Biting his lip he tried to contemplate whether to write him or not. In the end he decided not to, turning his attention at the Tv.

Taking the container from his mother he left the house making sure he had his keys on him just encase the door was locked when he returned. Daniel wasn't really sure what to expect from visiting Nick this late, but one thing he was happy about was getting to spend some time with his boyfriend now that he was back from his business trip. It was a rather nice evening, one that he was really enjoying. It wasn't to cold, but it wasn't a hot evening either, just right it seemed. The sun was starting to get low on the horizon telling him that it really wasn't long before sundown.

When he reached his boyfriend's home he knocked on the door and patiently waited for the older man to answer. When Nick did answer the door he held the container towards him and offered his boyfriend a large happy smile. "I brought you some food so you wouldn't have to worry about making yourself anything." He said happily before looking over the fact that Nick seemed tired. Leaning forward he happily gave the other man a hug before speaking again, "I missed you this weekend. I hope you had some fun while you were away. Just because it was a business trip doesn't mean you can't enjoy the trip once business is all taken care of." He added.

There was a part of Daniel that felt like something was off with his boyfriend, but he tried not to focus on it to much. One thing he did know was the other would tell him eventually, when he felt he was ready. Stepping into the house he closed the door behind him before turning back to Nick. "Was your father happy with the end result of your trip?" He questioned truly curious.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hearing the door bell be got up heading towards the door, knowing it was Daniel. He smile gently when he saw the boy letting him get it the house closing the door behind them.

"I brought you some food so you wouldn't have to worry about making yourself anything."

"That was very thoughtful of you" he said taking the package letting the other to undress from his coat. The hug took him a little by surprise even if it was something normal and something that he should do the same. Hugging the other a little left handed he turned entering the kitchen to leave the food on the table.

"I missed you this weekend. I hope you had some fun while you were away. Just because it was a business trip doesn't mean you can't enjoy the trip once business is all taken care of."

"Just for lunch and a drink when all was closed," he added turning and bending a little to kiss the other. What he wanted to do was a little hard to do.

"Was your father happy with the end result of your trip?"

"I guess. I didn't saw his reaction. Just left the documents and leave" he shrugged taking Daniel by his hands pulling him slowly to sit at the table.

"We need to talk" he started sighing brushing his hand through his hair. "I didn't want to turn out like this but .... I want to break down with you" he said it turning his gaze back to Daniel. He was hurt but doing this was hurting him even more. Daniel didn't loved him, or he did but he knew better who really gain Daniel. "I know you are hurt and all and i'm sorry but i know that I am not good as your boyfriend. I want you to be happy and not feel sorry for me." he sigh. "I want you to be happy with Chris"

Daniel wasn't truly surprised to hear that the only thing Nick had done after business was taken care of was go out for lunch and have a drink. It didn't mean he hadn't hoped the other would have enjoyed his time away more, maybe do more. But at least it seemed as if the trip had been successful. The kiss he received he returned, despite the fact that it was quick. Daniel would have loved for it to last longer, but didn't really mind that it was short either. He nodded hearing that Nick had just left the documents on his father's desk and had left. Daniel was sure the older man's father would be happy with the end result. As he was taken by the hands and lead slowly towards the table he felt himself become unsure especially when Nick indicated that they needed to talk. Daniel watched the older man with concern clearly on his face, but what was said stunned and hurt him more than he wanted to admit. He felt the ache instantly, his heart seemed to shatter and tears instantly welled in his eyes. His brain struggled to figure out what he had done wrong. What he could have done to prevent this. Before the trip he had thought their relationship was doing great and now... it was crumbling down around him.

For a moment he seemed to not even hear another word that was said. But the words did end up registering with him as he looked away from Nick. Tears started to fall despite his best attempt to force them back, and he truly felt betrayed for a moment. One weekend. That had been all it took to turn everything upside down and apparently make Nick realize he didn't want to be with him. "You make me happy, and I wasn't with you because I felt sorry for you." Daniel said his voice shaking. This was probably the worst thing that had ever happened to him. It made him wonder if this was how Nick had felt when he had broken up with him two years earlier.

His heart was so torn that he couldn't bring himself to look at Nick again. Reaching up he tried to wipe the tears away, though they were immediately replaced with more. Getting to his feet he turned his back to the older man, "I spent this weekend fending off my brother's advance because I love you. I wanted to be faithful to you, to prove I could be a good boyfriend and that you could trust me. You spend one weekend away and decide you don't want me anymore. Do you realize how that makes me feel?" Daniel practically snapped keeping his back to Nick as the tears continued to flow. "I'm going home." His voice shook even more as he said that. All day he had been anticipating Nick coming back, had wanted to see his boyfriend and spend time with him. Maybe cuddle and watch a movie, he had been so excited. Yet instead he was met with such heartbreaking news. "I'll see you later." He murmured not even sure if Nick had heard him as he made for the door grabbing his jacket as he went.

It was hard for him to accept that Nick's feelings could have changed like that. But his mind was briefly aware of what the older man had learned about him before leaving for his business trip. Had it been learning what had happened between him and Kyle that had made Nick not want to be with him anymore? Was he to broken to be with the older man after all? Daniel truly didn't know or understand. But right now, he didn't care. Despite Nick having said that he wasn't a good boyfriend for him, Daniel had a hard time accepting that was true. Something had changed in the other, and it wasn't for the better.

He didn't give Nick a chance to say anything else as he left the door shut harder behind him than he had intended but he didn't care. Pulling his jacket on as he walked home trying to get the tears to stop. It was hopeless though, they just kept streaming down his face. When he did finally make it home he went straight for his room not caring about anything else but wanting to be alone. He tried to be quiet as he closed his bedroom door behind him, hoping that maybe he had come in completely unnoticed. His body already shook with silent sobs as he managed to slip out of his jacket again and crawl into bed where he buried his face in his pillows and pulled his blanket tightly around himself. Clearly he was devastated, still not being able to fully come to terms with what Nick had just said. There was a very desperate part of him that hoped today had been some bad dream. Deep down, he knew that wasn't the case.

Seeing Daniel changed and starting to cry broke his heart into pieces. What have he done? He did the one thing that he promised he wouldn't do, and that was hurting him. He just did that. He hurt Daniel and he did it big time. Biting his lip, he sigh and wanted to speak again but Daniel was already running out his house. He couldn't stop him. And why would he looked back at him and stay? He just hurt him? What was the point in staying here?

Leaning his head in his hand he cursed the saints and all his stupid thoughts but he wasn't suffering for breaking up with Daniel, but because he hurt him that much. Breaking up with Daniel made him feel relieve. It was like a stone was lifted of his chest. He felt sad for Daniel, but he knew better and Daniel knew better. He was a fraud from the beginning, filling the empty space that Chris had left it.

He took out more bottles of beer and started drinking. He wanted to get drunk. After 5 bottles he call Louis.

Louis was resting in his bed, leaning back against a bunch of pillows a book in his lap and cup of tea in his other hand sipping at it when he heard his phone start ringing. He didn't spare it so much as a glance as he finished reading the paragraph he was on before reaching over blindly and answering the phone. The voice that met him was surprising, not just because it was Nick calling him but the man had clearly had one to many to drink.

"What'd you call me for, Nick? You never call me." Louis said into the phone, shifting it so he could hold it between his shoulder and ear so he could flip to the next page in his book. It was an odd call, not necessarily an unpleasant call but odd all the same. Nick after all really did never call him. If anything he called Nick, and the other man always ignored him the first time he called only answering if he called right back. It made him a little suspicious of the other man. Surely Nick had some reason for calling him, maybe it was a drunk call though and the man had meant to call someone else?

"Go to bed." He added after a moment of silence had passed between them, "You've obviously been drinking." Louis wondered briefly if this meant Nick had actually broken up with Daniel. There was a part of him that thought the other would chicken out once they spent time together again. So... maybe that was why he had called? Had he truly broken up with the younger man and then started drinking? Even if that was the case it didn't explain why Nick would call him of all people. Surely he'd rather call someone else like Sam, Mark or even Jack. The people he had known far longer than him.

"What'd you call me for, Nick? You never call me."

Nick narrowed his eyes and looked again at the phone. Why did he called Louis of all people? Maybe because he knew more about the situation than his friends, or because he wouldn't judge him for what he did. How did he end up in this situation? So many questions but not a sure and simple answer.

"Go to bed.""You've obviously been drinking."

Biting his lip when he heard the other scowling him like a child, he tried to calm himself and answer. "Forget i call you. Sorry for bothering you" he added and hang up returning to his drinking. HE felt so judged at that moment for everything. He tried to call his friends but Sam was out of town to visit his parents and Mark was with Jack where in the mountains. He had no friends. The only person available was Louis but he didn't cared.

"Why should he ... He is a selfish bastard who only cares if it's in his interest or affects him in any sort of way" he said to himself walking to his sofa with one beer in his hand and the pack of beer in his other, stumbling in his legs, but managed to reach the living room safe.

Louis wasn't to surprised that his first question was completely ignored, but he didn't expect Nick's response to what he said after. Nick had in no way actually bothered him, but he could tell the man had been drinking and telling him to go to bed had been a reaction to knowing that. It made him frown when he was met by the dial tone telling him that Nick had hung up. Rubbing at his eyes for a moment he leaned back against the pillows again as he tried to figure out what he was going to do. Should he bother going to check up on him? It meant he'd have to pull on some clothes, considering he was already in bed he hadn't planned on doing anything else today.

After a moment of deliberation he sent the man a text instead. Telling him to spit out whatever it was he had called him for and that if he didn't answer him he'd just come over instead. In the end though he really didn't know why he suddenly cared so much. But if Nick had been drinking it was for a reason, and if he had called him, again it had been for a reason especially considering like he had previously made clear Nick never called him. In fact, Nick normally avoided his calls. Setting his phone down as he waited for a response he slipped out of bed, set his book back on his bookshelf and made sure that he had something quick he could slip on and go check on the other if the man didn't answer him soon. While he did all of that he sipped at the tea he had made only fifteen minutes prior.

The buzzing from his phone annoyed him but made him curious who did write to him. Reading the message from Louis he burst out laughing at the menace. "Why do you want to know hugh? .... you told me to go to sleep .... why do you ask me that now ..." he started to argue with his phone and threw it away in the sofa drinking another sip from the beer bottle. He was a mess, yet he finished another bottle.

Not replying to the message he turned louder the volume at the Tv, setting it on music. It was quite a scene , seeing Nick drinking and dancing it was hilarious since he never was good at dancing.

Louis gave it a good fifteen minutes before he was pulling on a pair of sweatpants and an sweatshirt to go check on Nick. He knew that he should have been nicer when Nick had called and just been and ear especially considering what he knew the other male had planned. Still, it was hard for him to break old habits. Grabbing his car keys he made sure he had his phone on him before he left the house locking the door behind him. It wasn't a long drive to Nick's home from his own, but it took him a little longer considering he seemed to literally hit every red light along his way.

When Louis did finally pull up to the house he glanced towards it for a moment before sighing. Running a hand through his head he walked up to the door and knocked. He could faintly hear music coming from inside which told him that Nick definitely had not listened to him and gone to bed like instructed which only made him roll his eyes. This was ridiculous in general, why'd he even care enough to come all the way out here and check on the other man? Hell, he had been in bed with a good book and a nice hot cup of tea. He should have just stayed home. That was running through his head as he brought his hand up once more to knock again. Determined that he find out what the hell was going on with Nick before he returned home.

Having the music loud he didn't hear a thing around him. Only the music resonate in his house which made him jump around and drinking. At least at that moment no one judged him and he could drink himself to death. No one did care about him. He was stupid, good-for-nothing, insensitive bastard. His father hated him, didn't quite care about him that much, only when he could gain some money out of him.

His life was worthless, he was worthless. The only thing that he ever did in his life was to hurt everyone around him. It didn't count it was friend or family. He wasn't good enough for anyone. Tears started falling in the corner of his eyes. He never cried. Apparently now he was way too fucked up to care. He started laughing like a crazy person looking at the beer bottle like he just discover something interesting. But his mind just flashed an idea. Breaking the bottle on the table corner he pointed the sharp glass towards his wrist, taking a few moments to gain the courage to do that.

He was broken, damaged, who would like him that way? He wasn't normal anymore. Closing his eyes and biting his lip, he pushed the sharp glass on his wrist, cutting himself slowly, letting the red blood flow down his hand and on to the floor.

Louis sighed and for a moment pinched the bridge of his nose as he waited impatiently at the door. It was clear to him that his knocking was in vain, not because he was being deliberately ignored (though it was possible that was very much the case too) but because he was sure that the music in the house was to loud to even hear him knocking. Biting his lip he glanced around, should he try a window or something and see if Nick was even awake? Maybe he had passed out with the TV so loud from drinking. As that thought crossed his mind his hand unconsciously reached for the door, he turned the knob and was surprised to find that the door was actually unlocked.

Letting it slip open he was met with the music which sounded even louder now that the door was open. Even though he knew it was wrong of him to do this, he slipped into the house and shut the door behind him not wanting any neighbors to complain from the noise. Moving into the house he glanced into the kitchen, nothing. Turning he looked into the living room and his eyes locked on Nick stunned. What he saw there made his eyes widen. What the hell was he doing?! For a moment he was frozen, unable to move before Louis was suddenly in motion. Without even thinking his hand closed over Nick's wrist, right over the cut as if his hand alone would be enough to stop the bleeding. His other hand had reached for the broken beer bottle and pulled it rather easily from the drunken man's hand. At that point he tossed the bottle to the side grabbed the TV remote which was just barely in reach and turned the TV off completely.

"Nick, what the hell is wrong with you?!" He asked as he looked now to his hand which had quickly covered in blood as he glanced around trying to find something else to wrap around it in order to stop the bleeding. He had to inspect it to see if he should take Nick to the hospital. Realizing there wasn't anything nearby he tugged on the other's arm hoping that Nick was drunk enough to easily lead around as he pulled him off towards the bathroom all the time swearing and saying what an idiot Nick was under his breath.

Nick narrowed his eyes when someone grabbed his hand and trow away the broken glass from his hand. Having the music turned off, made his ears ring, giving him a terrible head eke. He wanted to pull away from the person who stopped him from ending his unworthy life but was to drunk to have any power to remove the hand that kept the wound bleeding to death.

Mumbling he fallowed the person to the bathroom biting his lip in pain when the water hit the wound. Just then when he heard the person speak he lifted his blurred eyes and saw who it was, surprising him. "Why do you care" he said sniffing and trying to keep his tears from falling. "I'm no good to anyone ... i'm not worthy. I can't do anything right" he added wiping the fallen tears from his cheeks. "This is the least i can do "

Louis held Nick's arm under the water as he pulled his hand away from the cut, keeping one hand around the other's wrist to keep his arm in the sink he rummaged through the medicine cabinet looking for the supplies he'd need to get the wound clean and wrapped up. It was definitely bad, and he should really take Nick to the hospital to make sure it didn't need actual medical attention. What stunned him was Nick's response to what he had said, he was halfway through gathering everything he needed when his eyes moved back to the other, his hand freezing in it's tracks.

"Is that really how you see yourself, Nick? This is never the answer, drinking like this and hurting yourself. That's never the way to go." Louis said finally finishing gathering the materials he needed. Maneuvering them he got Nick to sit on top of the closed toilet and started cleaning the wound before he put some gauze over it and started to wrap it up to stem the flow of blood. "Look, I know that whatever happened apparently hurt you. I also know that you feel like this now. But it'll get better, you'll see that you did what was best for you and you'll move on with your life. Drinking, and hurting yourself is never the answer. You're better than this."

After he was done he wiped the tears away from Nick's face with some tissue and cleaned them both up of the man's blood. "Come on, lets get your shoes on so we can take you to get this properly looked at. I'm no professional, even if I do think I did one hell of a job myself." Louis said giving Nick a small smile. "We'll stop and I'll grab a movie on our way back, maybe a snack. I'll stay until you fall asleep. Sound good?"

"Is that really how you see yourself, Nick? This is never the answer, drinking like this and hurting yourself. That's never the way to go."

Nick dropped his eyes on the floor like a child and sat on the toilet behaving as the other was trying to clean up his wound on his wrist. He would look from time to time at Louis as he carefully clean the wound and bandage his hand. Why was he so kind to him when he was always mean? Why did he cared? He was a nobody to him but still ... Louis came here to check on him.

"Look, I know that whatever happened apparently hurt you. I also know that you feel like this now. But it'll get better, you'll see that you did what was best for you and you'll move on with your life. Drinking, and hurting yourself is never the answer. You're better than this."

He just sighed. What could he say? That he felt pathetic in that moment? That he felt so weak in his eyes right now? How could he talk when all he wanted was to disappeared somewhere in the desert where no one knew him.

Keeping his eyes on the boy he took a deep breath, calming his sobs as his tears were dried by Louis.

"Come on, lets get your shoes on so we can take you to get this properly looked at. I'm no professional, even if I do think I did one hell of a job myself."

Not being able to keep himself from smiling he let go and laughed a little at Louis remark. HE was funny when he talked like that.

"We'll stop and I'll grab a movie on our way back, maybe a snack. I'll stay until you fall asleep. Sound good?"

"You don't have too .... I'm sorry i worried you but ... I guess you have better things to do than babysit me" he tried to make a joke getting himself up, keeping himself steady. The loss of blood made him a little dizzy.

"Have better things to do?" Louis repeated giving Nick a questioning look. "Nick, all I was doing was settling into bed for the night. You obviously need someone here more than I need to be lazy and in bed. So we are going to get this wound checked by a professional, then we'll come back and I'll keep you company until you fall asleep. That's final." Louis said his voice taking on a more commanding tone near the end. It was clear that he was not going to let Nick talk him into leaving him be especially after what he had walked in on.

Right now, whether Nick wanted to admit it or not he needed someone here to help him. Louis would be here until the man fell asleep, then he'd head back home and hope that Nick would feel better when he woke up sober. Reaching out he steadied the other, who quite obviously both from drinking and blood loss was quite unsteady on his feet. "Come on now. Let's get your shoes on and a jacket. It will be a quick visit, then we'll come back and you can get settled in for the night."

Nick nodded not saying another word again, just being an obedient child and did as he was told. He had to admit again that the other was very kind with him and he was also right. As he took his jacket and shoes on, he walked together with Louis to his car, lifting the hand with the keys towards the other.

"We take my car?" he asked turning his gaze back to Louis, wondering if the boy came with his own car or he took a taxi on his way here. His vision was to blurry to see the others car on the way near the house. He felt so pathetic for being seen in this kind of situation, but apparently the other didn't cared. He wanted just to make sure he was safe and that the injury will be healed.

Louis watched Nick closely, making sure he didn't struggle to get his shoes on, and that his jacket was on before following him out the door. He made sure that they locked the other man's house up before he turned to Nick who was holding his keys out to him. Giving the other a small smile he shook his head, "I'm already parked on the road, we'll just take my car." He replied motioning to where he had parked on the road not more than a few feet away from where they stood. Leading Nick over to his car he opened the passenger side door for him and waited for him to get in, once he was he shut the door and moved around his car.

It wasn't long before they were on the road and heading up to the ER to get Nick's wrist checked out. Louis at the very least wanted to make sure it wasn't anything to serious. He'd even lie about how it had happened to make sure Nick wouldn't have to remain in the hospital for any extended length of time. As they arrived he found a parking spot near the entrance and slipped out waiting for Nick to join him. Once the other man was beside him he lead the way inside and over to the counter to get him checked in so they could wait to be called. Glancing towards the other he spoke, "You know. You really scared the crap out of me for a moment." He admitted as he lead the other over to a spot away from the few other people to wait for Nick to be called.

Nick fallowed the other in silence and sat in his seat quiet, looking out the window. His mind still wavering in alcohool but he was starting to gain his senses. Although the same question was popping in his mind over and over again. Why did he call Louis of all people he know.

As they arrived at the emergency entrance he walked silently along side the other, keeping his eyes on him, studying him. There was something that bothered Nick. Louis expression was confusing him. He was worried but at the same time relieved. but why? why would he be worried? for me? and relieved? . Walking along side the other until he reached the door where he had to wait to be called.

Lost in his thoughts he thought he didn't heard the other correctly. did he just say .... he was scared? Lifting his eyes up to look at Louis in surprised he saw the other's face and all the expressions on it. angry .... fear .... concern .... relieve . Narrowing his eyes he manage to speak. "Why?" was the only thing that manage to came out.

"Why?" Louis replied raising an eyebrow. Was Nick really that blind? Had the other really not noticed that from the beginning he had seemed to have one thing on his mind? Right now Louis wasn't sure if honesty was his best policy, but he knew eventually he'd have to say it anyway. So with a sigh he spoke, "Nick, what's the one thing I've been trying to do since we first met?" He asked the other, hoping the alcohol wasn't inhibiting his ability to think back that far. Who knew? Maybe it would make him even more aware of what had happened, what he had been doing.

"Granted I know how I went about it was shitty and all but... it was just because I didn't want you to end up hurt like this." Apparently it hadn't worked though. Nick had been right when he had said that he'd been the nice guy before and someone had really hurt him. He had a guy like Daniel, someone he had thought he loved despite how many times they had left him for another or hurt him while they were together. His love had blinded him, and one heartbreak had just been to much. Completely shattering who he was. He had become the guy he was now to protect the person hiding beneath who had been through far to much.

Louis had never meant to hurt Nick, and had never wanted to see him at this point. He had tried to protect him from what he knew would happen, all while trying to get closer to him himself. Louis really did have a thing for Nick from the moment he saw him at the campsite. Even if Nick then, and probably even now didn't seem to think love at first sight was possible. But... why wasn't it? Louis knew now really wasn't the time for this so he motioned Nick towards a seat, "You should sit down, you've bled a lot and you're still drunk."
