Novels recommendations (criminal/apparent criminal and other character)

Hello! I admit I've been away from the forum for quite a while! (sorry!)

I was wondering if anyone had some recs! I recently found out a recurring theme in all my favourite romance novels, which is mostly based on a character apparently (or not) a criminal (or assassin, or demonic or wathever might be considered on the 'evil' side of a common story) and another character who is kind with them and help them/protect them. Sort of on the idea of "he has been too kind with me" for one character and a "I've never been kind enough with him" for second character.

 

Ahh, here some example of similar books I've read: Ginn Hale's Rifter series (one character is an assassin sent to kill the main one), Ginn Hale's Wicked Gentlemen (demon/vampire and a vampire hunter who helps him), Lowachee's Cagebird (assassin/pirate and a guy who ends up being his anchor of kindness), Hajicek's God Eater (a nobleguy meeting a gunslinger/assassin), Brooke's Shades of Grey (criminal and a FBI agent protecting him when he has to testify).

 

I am sorry for this super specific request, I was just wondering if I missed some good book!

Whoa there, that's a very specific taste in books. But i like it, you know what you wanted.

I get what you feel for the books that just captures your feeling, it's somewhat common to feel for the books, but it's rare to find good reads now and then for me.

 

Well, i have some criminal types, these are my favorite, but i don't think the secondary character is that much of what you described. You can take a read yourself to find out. There's also a tinge of mystery for those who like them spice little thrillers.

 

My recs are The Dead Returns and Girls in the Dark by Akiyoshi Rikako.

haha yes SORRY. It's weirdly specific. I enjoy a lot of books and novels, even gay romance novels, but sometimes I find my comfort in this very specific feeling.

I have read the novels you mentioned and i totally love The Rifter Series And God Eater was one of the first novels of the genre I read.

Have you read In the company of shadows or Bloodraven ?

Lord of the white hell, althogh you might have read it as a Ginn Hale fan

Perhaps Prisoner from the Kria series and Song of the fallen by Rachel Haimowitz ?

I know of Lord of the While hell and Song of the fallen (which I loved) but I've never heard of the other books, so THANK YOU.

I think searching for torrent you might find the Rifter series, but the ebooks are also quite cheap on amazon! And you can download the first one and see if you like the rest
