After being taken from the sea and from his family when he was very young and not having any real contact with other living things accept for when being fed, it is no wonder this merman isn't a friendly and happy fish. More like a wild animal, he has begun to scare the visitors away or will avoid people at all costs. Since no one can even get close and doesn't have the time, the aquarium/park looks to hire some extra help. YC comes and is given the job to try and help if not train the merman to be more social and maybe even learn the human language. Of course, it will take time before MC is even willing to give yours the time of day but eventually they will learn to get along. What else could happen between the two?

Personality: Danny is in no way friendly or gentle. In fact, he just as quickly tear someone's limp off even fast than a shark would. Due to his proud and violent behavior, he has caused a number of problems for the staff to the point where he nearly ate a kid and they shoved him into an isolated tank away from all humans. He quickly became a hidden secret that no one really wanted to address. Danny holds great distrust for humans and even refused to take food from them for as long as he could. He'd sooner die than deal with humans.

 

Background: Danny lived in the ocean hidden if reefs untouched by men until he was taken in by the aquarium. It was a rehabilitation center that was of no help to him. He lived most of his life alone so it was no wonder his aggression was so bad.

The help wanted sign hung miserably in back of the aquarium near a closed off section. Something about new construction kept people from going any farther beyond that point. Instead, they kept a beast back there unlike any other. The aquarium had managed to be opened after a weeks delay and closed only two days after as the secret creature attempted to kill someone. This was the reason it was now behind locked doors. While finally quiet enough that no one raised too much suspicion except for the few that heard the cries, they managed to keep everything hidden. The problem now was that they had no way of taking care of the creature because it had been refusing any food offered to it.

 

They required help as quickly as possible before the creature killed itself from refusing to eat. Of course, after a month, the creature really did fall unconscious from the sheer lack of rest and nutrients. It was thin, ragged, and had been taken out of its tank where it could be observed and helped. A vet had come to try and help but was little use, only administering an IV to try and keep the creature alive. If only they could find someone who had some idea of how to help.

Personality: Kai is very friendly and gentle. He tries to find the most peaceful method of resolving every problem, but will do anything to protect his loved ones if necessary.

 

 

 

The rumors of a vicious merman hidden away in an aquarium had quickly found their way to Kai's workplace. The company worked to help mythical creatures that were being exploited or abused, and Kai was one of their best employees.

No matter how far from his home, or how long it took, he would always do his best to help those creatures. This time it was no exception. Within a day he was on a plane to the rumored aquarium.

When he reached the aquarium he went straight to the head office, revealed to see a help wanted sign along the way. He lightly brushed his hair down with his fingers before knocking on the door.

There was no response from the office door that had been knocked on. In fact, there didn't seem to be any form of movement or anything in the area. Just as it seemed the section was abandoned, a security guard came around the corner and spotted the stranger. He walked over and asked, "can I help you?" Of course, when Kai introduced himself and everything, the guard explained that the owner was in the middle of something important.

 

Still, he called and the owner picked up instructing the guard to lead the other to where they were. So, that what he did and brought the specialist out back and into a large room that looked like a vet office. In the center, laying on a metal table was the 8 and a half foot, dark mer looking in pretty bad shape. He had a wet towel over his tail to kep from drying out.

Kai let out a soft gasp and rushes to the merman's side without even asking for permission first. "My god... I... How did this happen?" He looked to the closest employee with wide eyes, horrified at the sight of such pain.

"He refuses to eat and won't let us anywhere near him. The only reason we were able to get him in here was because he ended up wearing himself out until he was unconscious," the employee replied. They really did try whatever they could to keep him alive and healthy but the mer had refused all food no matter what kind of fish they tried to use.

[Kotorichan]

"Can he understand English...?" Kai lightly reached out to touch the merman's cheek. It would be much easier if he could speak to him, but if not Kai would figure something out. It was so painful to see an innocent creature suffer like this.

Just as the employee opened his mouth to respond, the dark mer opened his glowing green eyes at the touch. Everyone in the room froze as those wide eyes stared right at the stranger, dilated into slits like a cat's. The mer held a growl in his throat but stayed as still as everyone else just waiting for the next move in hopes to strike. Any sudden movement would have this stranger losing his hand to the beast. The creature was in no way happy to be touched.

Kia held eye contact with the merman, his own brightly colored eyes showing no fear. "It's alright..." He knew the boy probably couldn't understand him, but the gentle tone of his voice was enough to communicate his intent. "I'm not going to hurt you, I'm here to help" He smiled and tilted his head to the side very slightly. It seemed as if he completely trusted the creature, showing no signs of being ready to pull away. His fingertips were only barely touching his skin.

The mer could tell this man wasn't attempting to kill him but he also didn't trust the male either. Still, he wasn't a danger at the moment so the beast scoffed and yanked his head away letting out a low hiss in his chest. He didn't want to be touched and made every effort to keep these humans at a distance. At least he didn't try to tear the "help's" hand off.

Kai gently pulled his hand away. "Alright, I won't try to touch you again..." he looked up at the employees. "Where is he from? And how long has he been unable to swim?" He lightly chewed his lip, trying to make a plan to help the mermaid. It would be best if he could start swimming again soon.

"We found him off the reef about a hundred miles south of here. He was alone and we took him from there to stay here instead. You don't have to worry, the creature can still swim. In fact, if we were to put him back in the water, he'd probably dart off and disappear into the depths again. Then it would be even harder to help him." The owner explained. All the while, the mer kept a close eye on the stranger closest to him and on whoever was talking at the time. "Please, how can we help him?"

[Kotorichan]

"I understand..." Kai thought for another moment. "Do you have any sort of pool that's about three or four feet deep? He might feel more comfortable if he can swim around a bit. But if it's too large I won't be able to help him and keep an eye on his health"

"We have a kiddy pool in storage we can fill but it's only a foot and a half deep. Other than that, all the smaller tanks would be too small," the owner explained. Still, filling the kiddy pool might help so the owner had the employees go and fill it with saltwater. They brought it in and cleared a space before the kiddy pool. It wasn't large enough for the full eight and a half feet but at least the mer could settle into it comfortably. The only problem now was getting him in it. The dark creature wasn't cooperating now that he was conscious and refused ever effort the humans made.

"That should work for now..." Kai moved a bit closer to the merman. "I'm going to put you in the water..." He said gently. He gestured towards the merman and then to the pool, trying to signal what he was saying. He took a deep breath and carefully lifted the merman into his arms. Kai was expecting to get bitten, but it would be worth it if he could get the creature safely into the water.

The mer launched himself at the arm that tried to touch him again and he dug his sharp fangs into the man's arm and twisted his powerful body in an attempt to removed said arm from the man's body. Danny thrashed around as the others attempted to get involved and pull him away but the beast had a firm grip and it's massive tail was knocking people over left and right. Danny tried digging into the table with his claws to hold a grip but it was metal so he couldn't. With the water making the surface slippery, the mer slipped right off the table onto the floor but refused to release his grip.

Kai bit his lip to hold back a cry of pain. "D-don't interfere, he's already scared enough" His blood was a dark pink color instead of red, and tasted strangely sweet. "It's alright, I won't hurt you... It's alright..." Kai gasped and hugged the merman tightly as he began to fall. He used his body to soften the merman's fall to the floor, shuddering at the extra pain. "Just... H-hold on for a moment..." he struggled to sit up and put the merman into the water.

The dark mer just continued to thrash around like crazy. He continued to whip his tail and yank at the arm. Of course, the beast refused to get into the kiddy pool he was being forced to. He tried everything to prevent whatever was happening. Even with his lack of strength, Danny wouldn't give an inch. Eventually one of the employees grabbed a large broom and swung it, the wood making contact with the mer's head forcing him to let go with a yelp of pain. The dark mer fell motionless to the floor for a moment before placing a webbed paw to his head. The creature growled and hissed at his assailed shifting and pulling himself into the kiddy pool for a feeling of safety. The dark mer didn't want anyone near him especially after what happened, blood staining his pure white hair.

Kai gasped as the merman was hit. "W-why did you do that?!" He shouted up at the employee. "He was just scared and confused!" He pulled his sleeve to hide his wound so that the humans wouldn't notice the color of his blood. "How is he ever supposed to trust us if you hurt him like that?" He blinked back tears, thinking about just how much the merman was suffering.

The employee looked embarrassed but what else was he suppose to do? He couldn't just leave it alone to kill their only hope. Just then, the owner forced everyone out of the room so it was just the three, the owner, Kai, and the mer, who had come to trying to hide in the small kiddy pool. He growled viciously, his sail raised and ears lowered threateningly. His hand was still on his bleeding head.

Kai took a deep breath and slowly stood up. "Do you have any bandages? I'm going to see if I can get him to bandage his wounds... I don't want him to lose too much blood" He looked over at the owner. "Please let me help him, I'll do anything I possibly can"

"First let me get you some bandages," the owner said as he grabbed a whole bunch out of a cabinate. He brought them over and wanted to see Kai's wounds first to at least get a wrap on those before attending to the still fuming mer. "Come on, let me see, I can't help if you don't cooperate as well." The color of blood everywhere was strange, but the owner was so pumped on adrenaline that he wasn't paying much attention. Danny on the other hand was licking his fangs from the sweet taste.

Kai shook his head. "I'll treat myself and hopefully that will teach him how to take care of his own wound..." He looked away from the owner. "I'm sorry, but please leave us alone for a little while.. I'll be fine, and I think it will help him calm down if no one else is around"

The owner agreed and placed everything down before hurrying out of the room. He stayed just outside the door just in case but was willing to leave them be.

 

The mer stared at the only other person in the room and let off a low growl warning him not to try anything again. The dark mer wasn't going to put up with any more of this man's touchy hands. He was dangerous.

[Kotorichan]

Kai picked up one of the rolls of bandages and held it out towards the merman. "Bandage" He said gently. "Bandage..." He repeated before setting the roll next to the pool, within reach of the creature. He picked up another roll of bandages and pulled up his sleeve to reveal his arm. His wound had already started to scab over, the scab looked like a strip of pink rock candy. He held up his own roll of bandages towards the merman. "Bandage" He carefully began to wrap it around the wound, moving slowly so that the other could see.

The mer let off a deep growl as the bandages were placed in front of him but he did still observe the human as he bandaged his own wounds. With a loud scoff, the dark mer turned away and curled up in the kiddy pool lowering himself. He was exhausted and if he did not rest, he would collapse again. Of course, he still didn't want to sleep anywhere near these creatures that held him captive but there was little choice in the matter. Danny just had to try and relax.
