[Kotorichan]

"I see... Do you think there's any of the other employees who might know what happened? Perhaps a security guard who has seen almost everything that has happened to the merman?" Kai asked. He really didn't want to confront the owner, he might need to get forceful which would expose his true nature.

[WolfDog12]

"I only know of one but he is very loyal to the owner and has worked for him for many years, even before the aquarium had been built. I don't know if he'd even want to tell you if something did happen." The employee really wished he could be of more use than this but it was useless. "You know, the mermaid doesn't particularly like to take anything from anyone until you..... still, I don't know, he just has the worst aggression towards the man and I wish I knew why but sadly, I don't. If you want to try talking to Jay, I can take you to see him. He gets on shift around lunch time. I can come get you when he shows if you'd like.... er, Jay's the security guard that's known the owner for a long time."

[Kotorichan]

Kai nodded slowly. "That would be great..." It might be easier to get someone to confess if they weren't actually the guilty party. Still it could be difficult... But Kai wasn't the best in the business just because of his empathy and easy recovery from injuries. "And just let me know if you think of anyone else who might know about what happened"

"Alright, I'll come get you around lunchtime then." The employee waved and made his way back out the front to go and check on some of the other fish and animals they had out front. He would have to keep an eye out for Jay in a few hours when he was suppose to arrive. Danny on the other hand was getting frustrated with not being able to figure out how to fold the paper fish.

[Kotorichan]

Kai nodded and returned to the mer's room. He couldn't help but smile when he saw the merman messing with his papers. True, that meant he would have to get more soon. But it was just too cute for him to get angry. He slowly stepped towards the merman.

Danny looked over tensing up but he didn't make a sound. The mer wasn't so threatened now and he party did know that he stole something that wasn't his but he was claiming it now. Part of him didn't want to share but he also wanted to learn how to fold the paper. Danny picked up a piece of the non folded paper and reached out to give it to Kai then motioned towards the origami fish.

Kai smiled brightly and took the paper before sitting down in front of the mer. He slowly began to fold it into a fish, making sure that the merman had completed the fold before moving on to the nextone. He didn't want the mer to get frustrated with the difficulty.

Danny was extremely interested in every move Kai had made and he carefully made every fold that he made. The human was going nice and slow for the mer but he didn't mind. Danny wanted to get this done right. As soon as they finished their origami fish, Danny looked at his and it actually came out pretty good. He let out a happy coo sound holding the fish in the air. He was showing it off.

Kai smiled brightly at the sight of the finished fish. He lightly clapped his hands together. "Good~" The color in his hair was starting to fade and looking more gray. So far it wasn't really noticeable unless someone was paying attention. Kai hesitated for a moment before holding out his hand for more paper.

Danny was startled by the clapping and gave a slight hiss until he found that the human was actually cheering and basically telling him that he did well. The mer calmed down again and glared at the held out hand until he figure out what he wanted. The dark mer handed him another sheet of paper before moving away to look at the different origami figures already made. He wanted to see which he wanted to make next. He picked the crane and brought it back.

Kai smiled and nodded. He started to fold the crane, once again making sure he was going slow enough for the merman. The crane was much more simple so he finished it before long and held it out for the merman to take if he wanted it. He was glad that he had found some way to get along with the other.

The mer followed the steps and also folded a nice paper crane. When Kai offered his, Danny took it and gave him his in return. The mer thought this was something very serious and quickly moved away taking the crane with him. He sat in the shallow water, tail curled around him once again, studying his new gift.

Kai repressed his laughter and gently put his crane next to his bags. He pulled out another piece of paper and began to fold it. He focused on his baggage as he did, slowly making an impossibly perfect replica of one of his bags. As he did the bags slowly began to lose color until they were almost completely gray. Kai's hair and body began to brighten in color. By the time he was done his hair was practically glowing with color.

The dark mer looked over curiously.... what was that? Could all humans do that? It was hard for him because Danny had had black scales and pure white hair all his life. The mer moved closer slightly before retracting back to the water a little. He wanted to go closer but it was strange to him... Finally, Danny moved closer and took the rest of the papers and then moved away from Kai where he practiced the two folds that he had been taught. He wanted to make sure they were memorized.

Kai watched as the merman practiced the different folds. He had just 'eaten' by taking the colors from his bags... But if he didn't eat anything then the staff may become suspicious. He stood up with a soft sigh and walked towards the door. Maybe he could go out and try to buy more papers, then he could just tell everyone he had gotten food.

Danny looked up and watched as the human got up and left. He didn't say anything and simply watched before returning to what he was doing with the paper going over the folds and making another nice fish and then another crane, and repeat. The dark mer wanted to be sure he knew the folds perfectly. It was key to be able to understand how to do things. There was still another hour before Jay was suppose to get on duty so Kai seemed to have some time.

Kai left the room and told an employee that he was going out. He asked the employee to make sure no one entered Danny's room. He didn't want anyone to disturb the merman when he was just starting to relax. He went out and found a store with foil origami papers. He got a bunch of different colors so that he would have plenty to share. He also stopped by a Japanese grocery store and bought a few different types of live fish as well as a live crab and lobster. He wanted to see which type the mer would prefer. The hour was almost over so he hurried back.

The employee agreed and went to make sure no one entered the area. Of course, the owner walked over and told his employee to get back to work cleaning the outer area. He had no choice so he hurried off and the owner went to pay the mer a visit. Danny was not happy to say the least. The mer made a loud growl and tried to move away as he approached trying to force the mer to be friendly with him.

 

Just before Kai got back, the owner had left and returned to his office. The employee that hit Danny with the broom was waiting outside the door with Jay who arrived early. They waited for Kai to return, not daring to enter the mer's room.

[Kotorichan]

Kaai rushed to the door, his hair messy. "Oh, I'm so sorry for being late" He set down his bags and tried to smooth down his hair. "You must be Jay? My name is Kai, it's nice to meet you" He offered a hand to the man. "I don't know how much you've been told about me. I'm a specialist from Pastile, I work with 'mythical' creatures who have ended up in difficult situations like this."

[WolfDog12]

"Ah, I see, well I'm Jay. It is a pleasure to meet you Kai." Jay was an older man in his mid to upper 50's. "You're not even late, I just arrived early to get ready sooner, that's all. So, I heard that you had a question for me about the mermaid there. Sorry, but you'll have to fill me in on the details because I don't know what this has to do with me. I'm too old to deal with a beast that vicious," He said honestly.

[Kotorichan]

"Is there somewhere that we could talk in private? I'm told that as the security guard you have seen most of what has gone on with the merman, and I just have a few questions for you." Kai smiled sweetly, he appeared perfectly innocent. Like someone who just wanted to help out a poor unhappy animal.

[WolfDog12]

"Certainly," Jay agreed and lead Kai down the hall farther and into a back room where the employees kept their coats and extra things. "There's a camera but it's the only one that doesn't pick up on sound so you don't have to worry. Now, what is it that you'd like to ask. I don't spend time with the mer... probably one of the reasons he doesn't like me... though spending too much time with him and he won't like you either, just ask the owner."

[Kotorichan]

"That's actually what I wanted to ask you about. He seems to distrust the owner more than anyone else. I want to know why since it would help me figure out what to do to get him to relax" Kai smiled up at the man. "I wouldn't judge him for what happened... Or you for staying quiet. I just want to help as best as I can."

[WolfDog12]

"Ah, I see. Well don't worry, it is nothing like he abuses the poor creature. The owner just tries to get too close too fast and it earned the Mer's distrust. Every time the creature tries to relax outside his pool, the owner is right there trying to force him to eat fish and should the creature give it a sniff, the owner reaches out and tries to touch the mer. Over and over caused the mern to not even want to accept food from the owner."

[Kotorichan]

"Touch him how..?" Kai kept his voice friendly, even though he was ready to get extremely aggressive. "Do you mean in a sexual way?" He knew that plenty of humans had a strange attraction to mythical creatures. It was sort of like an interest in the unknown. But that interest often led to rape and abuse.
