Kai smiled and relaxed slightly when the mer began to eat. He released a couple small live fish and a lobster into the water. The lobster also had it's claws held shut. Kai moved backwards. If the merman went after any of the fish then he'd go talk to the owner about it.

Danny didn't even think to go after the small live fish as they joined the small fish already in the tank. He just focused on the lobster, not letting it touch the bottom before scooping it up and eating in in a similar fashion to the crab. The mer devoured the lobster and turned to Kai looking for something else. Danny was always hungry for more food.

Kai smiled and shook his head when the mer looked to him. He didn't have any other food. Now that he knew Danny would eat he could go ask the employees to bring more fish... And more importantly he could confront the owner. He swam back up to the hole in the fence and squeezed through, ignoring the pain from the wire digging into his skin. He'd have to ask them to raise the fence as well...

Danny followed Kai to the surface and watched as he crawled out of the fence and began making his way towards the door. The mer let out this loud whine sound trying to get Kai's attention. The mer grabbed at the fence now wanting to get out but without feet, he couldn't fit on the small space of land between the water and the fence. He tried to pull himself up to be able to get up to follow the human, but he couldn't get himself out.

Kai gasped softly when he noticed the merman trying to get out of the water. "Oh, no" He crouched down by the mer and smiled sadly. "You have to wait here... I'll be back soon" He knew Danny wouldn't be able to understand his words, but maybe he could understand the tone. He lightly reached out to touch the mer's cheek.

Danny was hesitant at first but he let the "Kai" touch that scaly cheek for a moment before needing to pull away. The mer let out a frustrated and sad sound before disappearing beyond the surface of the water again and swimming around for a while before returning to the cave. Danny rested on the edge of the cave this time and curled up and placed his head on his arms to fall asleep. The mer rested for a while as he waited for Kai's return.

Kai slowly stood up and left the room. He told an employee to open the fence so the mer could move freely, and to bring fish but to leave it outside of the room so Kai would be able to feed him. As they did that Kai went straight to the owner's office.

The employees got right to work, one unlocking the gate and opening it up again so the area was wide open. He was nervous and kept his eyes on the water hoping the mer stayed hidden for now. Of course, he didn't surface until the room was empty again before pulling himself out of the water and going over to Kai's things staring at them for a while before grabbing a sheet of paper and beginning to fold it into a fish again. While he did that, another Employee took all the fish brought in that day for the mer and left it outside the door.

When Kai made it to the office, the owner wasn't there anymore. It hadn't been even an hour and he'd already run off somewhere unknown.

Kai let out a soft hiss when the owner wasn't in the office. How dare that coward run away like this? He immediately went to the security room, throwing the door open without knocking. "Where is he?" He snapped to whoever was in the room, he looked like he was ready to kill someone.

"Whoa!!!" the monitor their jumped and looked on nervously. He would have kicked Kai out but everyone was told to give Kai full access to anything he needed in order to get the mer back to full health. "The owner? He left for lunch. There is this place he likes to go to three blocks away. He'll be back in about an hour... Sorry, there is nothing else we can do until he does return!!!" the monitor quickly explained.

Kai grit his teeth together. "I see... Please send someone to tell me when he returns, I want to speak to him in his office" He turned away and stormed back to Danny's room. He stopped just outside of the door and forced himself to breath. He couldn't be around the merman when he was in this mood. Once he calmed himself he picked up an armful of fish and stepped into the room.

The dark mer perked up a bit at the smell of food and looked over to see Kai return. Danny seemed quite happy and gave the human his full attention. The mer sat there with another crane and two fish next to him, folded neatly as he stared at the fresh and frozen meat brought for him. Of course, nothing was alive but that didn't matter. Danny let out a coo of happiness waiting to be fed.

Kai brought all fish in and set it in the shallow pool connected to the tank. He wanted to spend time with the merman and it was difficult to do so when he was underwater. If they could stay in the shallow pool he could even try to teach the mer how to speak simple words.

Danny moved away from the origami pieces and straight for the food. He didn't even pay much attention to Kai as he stood there and just went to try and have his meal. It was pretty hard for the mer to resist food and it made it hard on the aquarium with the mer eating his own body weight every day. Still, he was starting to gain a little weight after losing so much so it was a good sign that he was eating so much.

Kai watched him with a smile, it was so nice to see the merman eat. He did seem to be doing better now.. But it wasn't healthy for such a creature to be trapped in an aquarium. Could they even keep feeding him enough? It must be expensive to buy all this fish and they clearly didn't have any guests... Were they planning to have Danny put on shows like a dolphin? He was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice he was frowning in worry.

Danny had eaten basically everything left on the ground and noticed Kai's foul mood. The mer let out a groan and slapped his tail lightly against the ground trying to get Kai's attention. He wondered if he had done something wrong. The mer stared Kai down waiting for him to respond hoping he wouldn't act like the owner had been.

Kai jumped at the noise and looked at the mer. He smiled gently. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you" He murmured. He thought for a moment before picking up a small fish the mer had left behind. He held it out and smiled. "Fish" He said slowly, Hoping that the merman would understand.

Danny opened his mouth and down the fish went whole. He then stared back at Kai wondering what that sound coming out of him was.... Fish... well, he was given food so maybe it was a word that meant food? No, he'd have used it more... Danny shrugged it off and turned to what was left and continued to eat. Only 45 minutes had passed before an employee opened the door and told Kai the owner returned. When he made eye contact with Danny, the employee jumped, stared for a while before quickly turning and stepping out again.

Kai laughed softly when the mer swallowed the fish. He'd have to try again later.

His eyes narrowed as an employee entered and he stood up. "I'll be right there..." He stood up and walked towards the door. He stopped and turned back to the merman to make sure he wasn't upset. "I'll be back soon..."

Danny was of course upset. Once again, Kai was getting up and leaving him. Why did he feel the need to leave every time? The mer wanted him to stay but of course, he didn't and just walked out the door again. So, Danny dove into the deeper pool and went to sulk in the cave he now called home.

The owner was back in his office but when he saw that the gate was open and the mer was in the deeper pool, he began to get rather frustrated. It was hard enough to try and make advances on the creature but now, this would make it nearly impossible. He turned around when Kai suddenly entered. "Thanks for all your help but your services are no longer required. It seems the mer is on the path to recovery," he stated.

"That's a shame..." Kai shut the door behind himself and locked it. "Fortunately you won't be in charge anymore" He pulled a piece of origami paper out of his pocket and began to fold it without even looking. His piercing gaze was fulling trained on the owner. "You see I tried to be nice, if I could just get you to confess then it would be easy to have you taken from your position" He kept folding as he spoke. With each second the owner lost a bit of color and energy and Kai gained more. After just a few moments the effects were becoming noticeable. "I mean... How can you be expected to take care of a merman if you can't even notice another non-human right in front of you?"

The owner stared in confusion towards Kai and thought it was truly strange when he locked the door and began to talk while folding the paper. "What are you talking about? I was honest. I don't know why that mer doesn't want anything to do with me but-" The owner cut off as he noticed the color in him start to drain away. He looked at himself, then at Kai with a startled look. When he mentioned not being human, his eyes wondered what that meant and what Kai was.

"You know... Anyone who isn't a human has dealt with someone like you at some point in their life" Kai's body was glowing by this point. "Some human who thinks we exist just to fulfill your disgusting obsession." He dropped the finished origami on the desk. It was a perfect replica of the owner's face, meaning that the man was completely gray and had lost almost all of his energy. "Now... I have two options for you. You can either give me the merman now, and you'll go back to normal within a few days... Or" He pulled out a second paper. "I make you fade away until it's like you never existed..."

The owner seemed completely freaked and took the threat very seriously. "Take him!!" He panicked backing away and pressing his back against the wall of security monitors. The owner was breathing heavily and seemed very scared. He had no idea what Kai had done nor what he was capable of. That being said, he did not want to know what Kai could do to him. "We rescued him so I don't think sending him to the ocean will be easy but you can certainly try," the owner quickly explained.

"I'll contact the people I work with to come pick him up... They will be here by tomorrow afternoon..." Kai crushed the origami head in one hand. "And don't try telling anyone about this. No one will believe you. Even if they do I'll just make you all disappear" His eyes narrowed as he tossed the crumpled up paper onto the desk. "I hope I'm made myself clear" Without waiting for any response he stormed out of the room.

He stopped in front of the merman's door and calmed himself down before entering again.
