Naeem awoke early the next morning and looked down at the boy sleeping in his arms. He let out a soft sigh and kissed the boy's forehead before climbing out of bed and dressing him in a light robe. "I'll be right back..." He murmured, hoping that he wouldn't awaken the concubine as he stepped out of the room.

Bakari stirred a little when he felt the warmth he had been clinging to move and leave him. It was his brain unconsciously hearing this Pharaoh’s voice that settled his half-awake mind. Drifting back to sleep one hand clutching the sheets beneath him as the other rested on the pillow next to his head. His mind wasn’t even aware of the fact that Naeem had left the room. His body taking in what warmth remained in the sheets from when his Pharaoh had left him in the large bed alone.

Naeem returned after a few minutes and climbed back into bed with the boy, kissing the top of his head gently. He stayed quiet for a moment until there was a knock on the door and a few slaves entered with breakfast for Bakari and the pharaoh. Once the slaves had left, Naeem gently tapped his lover's shoulder. "Bakari, breakfast is here..."

Bakari made a soft sound when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Shifting in his sleep before he heard his name. Mumbling something under his breath his eyes fluttered open. Slowly he pushed himself up and looked over to Naeem, “Morning.” He murmured leaning over to kiss his Pharaoh. It was then that his eyes fell on the breakfast that had been brought in for them. “How did you sleep?” Bakari asked as he sat beside the older man, looking him over. It didn’t seem liked Naeem was in any pain but he wasn’t completely sure.

"Good morning... I slept well." Naeem leaned down to kiss the boy gently. "I think my wound is almost healed enough for me to get back to work... It only hurts if I move around too much." He smiled slightly. "How did you sleep?" He stroked the boy's cheek. "I was a bit worried that you might wake up alone since I had to leave the room for a few minutes..."

Bakari responded with a soft hum at the news that Naeem may be well enough to return to work. "If you do... be careful not to over do anything." The last thing he wanted was for his Pharaoh to do more harm than good. Even if the wound was healed enough for him to return to work the older man could still hurt himself. "I slept like a rock." He responded with a small smile though he noted that he was told Naeem had left him for a few minutes. That made him watch the man curiously, "It helped that your scent was still present. I stirred for a moment after you left but fell back asleep." He admitted with a sheepish smile. The scent of his Pharaoh alone was enough to ease him, not providing as much comfort as actually having him physically beside him but close enough. "What did you have to go do?" He asked. He was hoping that wasn't overstepping any boundaries, though he was sure if Naeem thought it was the man would say so.

Naeem hesitated for a moment before responding. "I spoke to my head guard... I know that he has been guarding my room every day and I saw him here while you were gone. So he couldn't be the one who... Who hurt you." He lightly stroked the boy's cheek. "I asked him to be ready to gather the guards at some point today or tomorrow. I want to take care of this before too much time passes."

A small frown crossed Bakari's face when Naeem spoke. Instantly his anxiety hit him and he felt like he couldn't breath. Facing the men who had hurt him, regardless of whether or not he would be clinging to Naeem to do so terrified him. Taking in a shaky breath he tried to let it out slowly in an attempt to calm his nerves. It didn't work. But it had been worth a shot despite the fact. Remaining silent until he managed to catch at least a slight grip on his emotions he spoke. "Okay..." His voice was soft, almost meek. Even though he knew he could pick out the men who had hurt him doing so terrified him to no end.

Naeem hugged the boy to his chest, pressing a light kiss to the top of his head. "I will be right here by your side for every moment. And I will never let those men get close to you again...." He tightened his grip slightly, wishing that he could end the his lover's terror. "I love you Bakari, I want to do this as soon as possible so you don't have to worry about those men being near you... And so that I can send the message that I will not allow anyone to hurt you."

Bakari wrapped his arms tightly around the other man when he was hugged against the other’s chest. Eyes drifting shut as he tried to get a hold of his emotions. It was hard, but he knew it had to be done and the sooner the better. Knowing that once it was done he would no longer be afraid to walk the palace halls alone. “I-I know… it just… scares me…” He responded. Fear of facing the men again, with or without Naeem was almost enough to give him a panic attack. But it was for the best, and he could cling to Naeem while doing so. Something he was sure he would do.

"Let's eat some breakfast, it may help you feel a bit better." Naeem leaned down to gently kiss the boy. He held the kiss for a few moments, relaxing into the touch. "I love you Bakari, please believe me when I say I will do anything it takes to keep you safe." He offered the concubine a bite of food.

Bakari returned the kiss, eyes drifting shut. For a moment he just allowed himself to focus on the feeling of Naeem's lips against his. When it was finally broken he looked at the food that was offered to him. Taking a bite he let out a soft hum of appreciation. It tasted great. Though he wasn't used to eating with Naeem, rather he was used to eating with the other servants and slaves. That made it so he appreciated the breakfast even more. Eating in silence with his Pharaoh. When breakfast was finished he laid against the older man's side eyes having drifted shut. "I love you."

Naeem continued to feed the concubine until they were both done with breakfast. "I love you too Bakari..." He smiled and leaned down to kiss the boy gently. "Would you like to take a nap..?" He pulled Bakari onto his lap and cuddled him close. "We can... Deal with the guards whenever you feel prepared."

"As much as a nap does sound good... I'm never going to be fully prepared to face the guards. So... The sooner we do that... The sooner I can feel safe in the palace again." Bakari responded. He nuzzled into Naeem's chest, knowing if he could stay in his Pharaoh's lap forever he would. Letting his eyes drift shut he took in a deep breath letting it out in a shaky sigh.

Naeem nodded slightly, hugging the boy tighter for a moment before releasing him. "Okay... Let's get dressed then." He slowly climbed out of bed, helping the boy up with him. "I love you Bakari..." He murmured, kissing his forehead lightly before pulling away to dress himself.

Bakari took in a rather shaky breath as he was helped up before he dressed himself. Glancing towards his Pharaoh when he was done and looking the man over. He really could appreciate the simple things about the older man. Once Naeem was also dressed he moved back over to him and leaned up pressing their lips together once more. "Let's do this... before I talk myself out of it." His mind was already trying to figure out reasons why they should just pretend it had never happened. While his heart was ramming painfully against his rib cage as if desperately trying to escape the confines of his chest.

Naeem leaned into the kiss and gently wrapped his arm around the boy's waist. "Let's go then." He kept his arm around Bakari's waist, holding him close, and stepped out of the room where the head of the guard was standing by the door. Naeem nodded to the older man who bowed deeply before leaving to gather the guards.

Bakari felt his anxieties rise when he glanced towards the man that Naeem had nodded to. It was clear that was the man that was the head of his Pharaoh's guard. That didn't mean that it made him feel any better. Glancing up at Naeem he spoke, "Are you sure... after I tell you who they are... that they wont be able to hurt me again?" He asked his voice shaking slightly. Though he trusted Naeem with his life, he was afraid of what the men might try to do once he told Naeem who they were.

"I swear it on my life." Naeem said softly. "Those men will never lay a hand on you again. I will stay by your side to keep you safe." He smiled gently and led the boy to a sitting room where he sat on a wide couch, pulling Bakari down to join him. "Please, cling to me as much as you would like. They will not hurt you." He pressed a gentle kiss to the boy's forehead. "I love you Bakari..." He breathed.

"I love you too." Bakari responded pressing himself against Naeem's side as he rested on the couch beside him. It was when the guards entered that he pushed himself to the point where he was a little bit behind the older man. Eyes scanning over the men as they lined up. Of course he easily picked out the four involved. Even though they had blindfolded him they had not done so until after he had managed to see them all. It was poor planning on their part he figured. Looking back on it he didn't know why the men had thought he would just do what they wanted. Did he really seem like that much of a pushover?

Taking in a deep breath he leaned towards his Pharaoh letting his eyes drift shut for a moment. He was still nervous as he clung to the other man. Finally he pointed the four men out to Naeem but he kept his gaze firmly on his lap after doing so. In no way whatsoever did he want to meet the gaze of any of those four men. Afraid of what he might see in their eyes.

Naeem gestured the head of guard over and pointed out the men. "Have those four seized." He ordered. The guard gave the order to the other guards, who hesitated for a moment before grabbing the four.

"These four men have gone against me." Naeem spoke in a booming voice which commanded respect. "They have taken that which is mine and attempted to soil it with their presence. They blamed my companion for the attempt on my life. But I must ask, who is it that is meant to protect me from such attacks?" He glared at the men. "The assassin should have never been allowed to get so close to me. Such a thing means that you have all failed your job. You are either incompetent, or traitors. I have arranged for you all to be put through more vigorous training, and to have more guards trained and brought in to make up for your failure."

"However," His gaze landed on the four that attacked Bakari. "These four have shown that they lack respect for me, something that will not be tolerated. They are to be thrown in the dungeon, tomorrow morning they will be publicly executed along with any of you who attempt to defend or protect them."

There was a soft gasp from a few of the guards. "Why are you defending that whore?!" One of the attackers screamed.

"It is not your place to question me." Bakari snapped. "It is not about 'protecting' anything, it is about respect."

Bakari was stunned when he heard Naeem’s voice clearly boom through the room. The authority in it was clear, and so was the man’s obvious mood towards what had been uncovered. Still… he knew whatever was heading towards the four men it was deserved. He was sure nothing that Naeem could say would make him feel bad for the four. But he was wrong, the announcement that the men would be publicly executed made his blood run cold.

It wasn’t because he didn’t think that they didn’t deserve death for what they had done to him. It was the fact that it would be public that startled him. Still, he didn’t show any of that, his face turning to bury itself into Naeem’s shoulder when he heard one of his attackers yell out. It didn’t surprise him that he would be called a whore yet again, or that the man was obviously unhappy that Naeem was in a sense defending him. Bakari truly didn’t care, if it meant that he would never have to worry about those four men getting a hold of him ever again then he didn’t care what happened to them.

That didn’t mean his heart wasn’t ramming painfully against his chest. He could hear his pulse in his ears as he clung to the older man. It didn’t matter that Naeem said it came down to respect and not about protecting anything. Bakari knew that what the guards had done to him had been disrespectful to his Pharaoh. In a sense, they had gone against the older man, they had taken what wasn’t theirs to take. Bakari knew anyone to touch him without his Pharaoh’s permission was going against Naeem. The older man was the only person who could do with him what they wanted, any others had to get such permission from him. Something that Bakari knew would never happen.

Naeem rose to his feet, hooking his arm around Bakari's waist and pulling him to his feet. "That will be all. I hope that this will be the last time I have to call you all here." He pulled Bakari out of the room as the head of guard ordered the four to be taken to the dungeons. Naeem didn't say a word until he brought Bakari to his bedroom and shut the door behind him. Then he pulled the concubine into a tight hug, holding him protectively. "I'm sorry that I had to say such things..." He breathed.

Rising as Naeem hooked his arm around his waist Bakari didn't even attempt to argue with being led from the room. Right now he didn't want to be around the rest of the men. He could only imagine what the rest of the guards thought of him and what was happening to those four. It didn't make him feel any better, but at least he knew with those four men no longer walking around he was safe to walk the palace halls again. Upon their return to Naeem's bedchambers he felt himself being pulled instantly into a hug. Returning it he sighed softly, tilting his head back to press their lips together. "It's okay." He murmured.

Naeem shook his head. "I allowed them to insult you, then said that I wasn't doing it to protect you... Even if I can't stand up for you so publicly, I don't want you to feel as though I meant any of that." He kissed the boy gently. "I love you, you have already been through so much and I am just putting you through more..."
