Mother Always Wanted a Girl (Alexia x Wolf)

Kansei left and was actually picked up by his mom that day. She was on time and was being extra careful to help her daughter feel better. It was actually a really strange turn of events that he had to write off for now. The boy still made dinner since it would be dangerous if his mom did and he was able to get straight to studying for the following day's exam. Thankfully, each exam day was a half day of school so it wasn't too stressful.

 

The next day, Kansei got to school just slightly early because his mom once again drove him. He got in and when he went to change his shoes, the envelope was there. People around stared in amazement as he pulled out the letter turning it over a couple times. The princess let on a small smile when she opened the letter and everyone was floored as to what happened.

 

Kirigaya changed shoes and made her way up to the classroom When she made it to her seat, she looked over at Katsu and nodded to make everyone even more curious as she slipped the note in her desk and waited for the exam to begin.

Today's exams were English and Japanese History, they were fairly easy for Katsu although he would have to do some reviewing for math.

The teacher indicated they could start and soon enough all his thoughts went out the window as he began to write away. Before realizing it an hours had passed, then two and he was done. Most students followed after that and the class was dismissed when all tests were collected.

 

He gathered his things and headed to the courtyard where he was to meet with Kirigaya, a place where only two days ago they had sat close enough to feel each breath one took and remain fairly warm due to the cold. His fingers were slightly numb due to the nervousness and he paced lightly as he waited. Most students walked by pointing at the guy who now was part of everyone's conversation.

'Jokes on you fuckers' he told himself 'I got more tricks up my sleeves'

 

Not only was he going to continue being the theme of conversation but he would completely change the subject, play with all of them and have this damn drama over by the end of next month.

"Where is she" he asked noticing Kirigaya had yet to show up.

English was the easiest test Kirigaya could have taken.... History on the other had was always her worst subject. It took longer than usual because she wanted to make sure every little question was answered, thought through, basically the test book looked like a math quiz by the end of it. But Kirigaya had to place well and this was her worst subject. By the time she passed in the exam, the class was empty.... oops.....

 

The princess remembered what she had to do and stuck the note in her bag before making her way down to the yard where Katsu waited for her. "Sorry I'm late, were you waiting long?" Of course he was but she had to ask,,,, besides, he should have known that it would take Kirigaya longer than most because she was on crutches and he didn't exactly make things easy for her to be able to get places.

 

"Was there something you wanted from me? Your note said you wanted to meet up." Just got to play along. Everyone was staring so intensely.

The part was played well, like any refreshing romance on tv where the innocent boy and so desperately in love with the most beautiful person that would soon be his.

"I'm glad you received it" he states taking a step closer to her "It might be sudden, I used stand" Katsu's eyes traveled to her face eyes locked on each other.

"Would you be my person Kansei, someone to bring me happiness" it sounded dramatic even for him but he was sure girls were into that crap, not that Kirigaya was a girl but when the story got out his words would go down in history!

 

This time his hand reached for hers, he was careful enough since she was also in crutches.

"What do you say?"

'Well, that's probably the most dreadful saying I think I've ever heard,' Kirigaya thought to herself. Still, everyone who was watching probably ate it right up... that sucked. However, no matter what he said, or how he put it.... oi... Kirigaya had agreed to well, agree so he had to go along with the image of a teenage girl and he had to reply properly. With a smile and a slight blush, always know how to blush, it helps so much, Kansei nodded.

 

"Alright, I don't mind.. My answer is yes," the crowd just blew up, eating this crap up like it was the biggest news that could have ever come their way. Kansei didn't even mind having his hand taken as long as Katsu was careful not to knock to poor girl over. Thankfully, with just those few words, they were now finished and an "Official couple."

 

Would you mind helping me carry my stuff? I'd like to head home. Oh, I almost forgot. He reached into a pocket and pulled out his phone. "We should exchange numbers."

"Yes" he replied taking his own from his pocket. The two numbers where exchanged and soon he had taken the other's stuff.

The bag was light but the act was significant of a now dating couple specially since she was hurt.

 

"You should call me Katsu from now on" he says "It will come naturally with time, if not its alright" he had never walked anyone home before so it felt different to walk home with another person. He began to wonder would dates be required too? quickly he removed that thought.

After some distance from the school Katsu said "thank you again for this, I'm sure things will change now. Oh... should we have lunch together from now on?"

"You should call me Kansei then... Katsu." It certainly was weird to say that but she would have to get use to it. Calling someone by there first name felt like some kind of validation where you were either dating or had been childhood friends... There was little to no in between.

 

Kansei's mom had to go t work again so she had given her daughter the option of either finding another ride or waiting until she could make it but that would probably not be until very late. Of course, Kirigaya had texted back saying that she had a way of getting home and not to worry. The thought of her daughter making friends thrilled the woman so much that she didn't care who it was or what their relationship was like. She didn't ask and just said to have fun.

 

"I sure hope this works. But if you don't want to walk all the way to my house I understand, it's quite the distance so now that we're far enough, I can take my bag and go i you want. And about the lunches, it would probably be weird if we didn't eat them together so we should meet up for lunch. However, thankfully we don't have to worry about those kinds of things for now because vacation is starting soon and we don't have lunch during exams." Boy did Kansei hate talking so much. "Anyway, I'm going to be making a stop on my way home so you really don't have to walk with me."

Katsu actually didn't mind, he was quite sporty on his own time and walking wasn't a problem. Stubbornly he ignored the other's protest and continued holding the bag "Its alright" he says "my house is this way"

Since he usually got a ride home he never really got the time to enjoy the outside and now that it was cooler walking wasn't much of a hassle.

 

"Do you have any plans for the break" ask Katsu growing interested in Kansei's activities and life. It would rather rude to not ask, he thought, since they were to some extent friends as well.

"Not really, my mom is working basically every day so I will probably just take the time relaxing at home and being a normal guy.... Though, I'm not exactly sure what that means. There is a movie that I've wanted to see coming out 3 days into vacation so I'm going to go see that hopefully the day it comes out. What about you? Any plans?" Kansei had forgotten about the whole, no telling anyone about the amount his mom works but it was what it was. It's not like she could take vacation as well.

 

The two began their trek up the hill where Kansei went to the convenient store, dragging Katsu along because he refused to leave him. He got a couple store bought meals, some groceries for dinner, and a bag full of cupped noodles. Carrying these bags was pretty easy and Kansei didn't even ask Katsu to hold anything.

 

Once he bought everything, the two were off again. "My house isn't much farther," He explained. It was three blocks farther up the hill and eventually, they made it. It was a nice house, looking pretty small from the outside but it had 3 floors and was deeper. The house even had a small garden out front with a nice gate and wall. "This is my place. You can come in if you want, I can make you some tea." Kansei did need help with the gate and the door because his hands were full.

He listened as the other went over his plans. Katsu had also planned on watching some movies during the break, but that wasn't what was in store for his family since they usually went to the mountains to enjoy a more country side winter.

"My family usually leaves for the winter" he says "Alrhough we don't exactly live in the city, my mother plans for us to go to the country where we visit natural hot springs and such" he sounded like he was showing off so he stopped mentioning details.

 

He continued to walk with Kansei and noticed the things the other bought. A good of them were meals and soups which made Katsu wondered if Kansei did most of the cooking or if there was ever any involded. He refrained from saying anything it wasn't his business and he assumed he had been lucky to have such a well off family and a mother with a flexible schedule.

 

"Your house is lovely" he states "perhaps you should visit me too" Katsu helped the other with the bags and door. Allowing him to walk in first before stating that he would love to stay but since he never stayed out long he didn't want to worry anyone. He then added that next time he would take that offer of tea.

Katsu waved him off and headed back to the convenience store they had passed. He turned left on the light then right and continued down that path until he reached a large gate of a brilliantly illuminated house at the end of the block. It was surrounded by trees and due to its size it also stood some distance away from the others. What was surprising was how close he lived to the others, 10 minutes by walking if one walked slow.

It was slightly embarrassing seeing the different now but well who would ever complain for having a nice home.

Quickly he typed in the code and stepped inside when the gate opened.

The front door was unlocked and when he stepped inside he saw that his mother was home.

"Going away for the winter sounds so nice, I hope you have fun," He state and focused on getting in the door. Kansei placed his bags on the counter in the kitchen and asked for Katsu to do the same. After, he made his way over to talk to Katsu some more. The popular boy talked about how nice the house was and even offered for Kansei to go over to his house as well. "That sounds like fun, I'd love to see the place."

 

They seemed to be able to talk only about the small things.... Small talk was great and all but it was kind of strange thinking about it... then again, everything about these two was strange. Kansei wished Katsu luck before he left and told him to get home safe. The long haired boy then put all the groceries away and made his way up to his room. He checked his phone and there was a text from his mom saying she wouldn't be home until tomorrow evening. Why did she always have to spend all nighters at the office...

Katsu spends the afternoon with his family before heading to his room for homework and a shower. By the time 8:00pm came around he was in his bed fast asleep. The day had been exhausting from all the tests but he was glad weekend was almost there and he could get to eat sweets. An idea hit him and he noted to mention it to Kansei, before completely drifting away.

 

The morning sun hit his eyes and he found himself awake before the alarm went off. He stretched and headed to the bathroom, some time after he came back to dress his hair slightly wet. Katsu dressed, ate and was about to head out when he opened the door and a harsh cold wind hit him.

Quickly he shut the door again

"Wow... Today is really cold" once again he opened the door with time with a red scarf around his neck that popped out nicely from his usual uniform. The walk was dreadful because the wind was too strong and he had never been so glad to be in school.

Kansei got up and ready for school, having to get up a bit earlier to be able to work around his injury. He still made himself breakfast and everything. He hated wearing a skirt in the cold weather but still had Katsu's jacket and it added a layer of warmth over his own. A scarf and gloves were also in order since he couldn't put his hands in pockets with the crutches. Kansei managed to get ready and got going.

 

He limped out of his house and down the hills to the school. He made it on time with a few minutes to spare when he switched shoes and searched for Katsu. People seemed to walk a little closer and said more hellos to Kansei who nodded and kept going without breaking stride. It worked to keep people at bay for now. Hopefully, it would last long enough for the breakup.

 

Kansei found Katsu and greeted him with a friendly hello. "Hi Katsu." Everyone was floored and the princess went over to him.

Katsu turned when he heard his name "Good morning" he said happily taking in Kansei's profile, plus the scarf, gloves and... his coat.

A smile formed on his lips "I see you're enjoying my coat" he states. His eyes were gentle compared to his usual attitude, he had woken up in a good mood but didn't know exactly why. His hand moved towards the others scarf and slowly undid the knot that held it together. The two sides, once loose, rested on Kansei's chest.

"This color is pretty, you can borrow my coat...it looks good" he held the door indicating the 'girl' to walk in first.

"Oh come now, You can see I don't have any arms to carry the coat and I planned on returning it today," He said. The scarf was gently loosened from around his neck and Kansei gave a gentle smile. When he complimented on the color it did surprise him a bit but he shrugged it off. "Thank you, I actually got to pick the color myself.... except it wasn't allowed to be black." She shrugged. Still, the dark but bright purple did stand out against all the black Kansei wore.

 

The princess was a shadow or sorts... Or maybe a dark cloud. You couldn't help but notice her even though he wore nearly all black including he school jacket that should be white... And yet, it wasn't. "You should be careful who you lend your clothes to. Girls are known to not give clothes back," he snickered before carefully removing the coat to hand back to Katsu.

"Thank you" he says taking back the now warm jacket. "Perhaps you'd like to borrow it again this afternoon as we walk home" he suggests since it might get a bit colder then. Katsu remained by Kansei's desk for some time chatting away before he was called outside by some guys from his class. He followed them and closed the door behind.

 

Last time he had checked the rumor had become a question, one that people weren't as sure anymore whether it had really happened or not. It was almost magical the effect having a girlfriend did.

"Katsu how did you and..." asked one not exactly finishing his sentences. He guessed even some of the guys in his class who saw Kensei every day were still taken aback once in a while. He explained how they had startle talking an it was an instant connect or something like that. The measures he took to save his own neck, but now that he looked back on it, Kansei was being nice enough. There had been a time when the two were at each others throat.

He did play fair though Katsu had ended his small fling with the other guy since, as he stated it, he was now with someone. The teacher asked the others to return inside, as Katsu walked over to his seat his eyes caught Kansei's and he winked at him.

"I'd like that. It's pretty cold outside and these skirts don't exactly keep me nice and toasty," He joked. Of course, while they were chatting, some of the other guys that had been giving Katsu a hard time, called him out to the hall for a chat. Kansei could guess what the conversation was going to be about so he didn't worry too much about it and just focused on getting ready for the class to start.

 

He didn't have to wait long as the teacher came in and told everyone to get to their seats. Of course, Kansei knew that as a good girlfriend he should always be looking for his boyfriend and that's what he did, looking back and even getting a wink when their eyes met. The princess smiled and turned back but one of the boys thought it would be funny and got Kansei's attention and winked at him looking rather smug about it. Of course, the long-haired boy just stared looking concerned and the boy got embarrassed and focused on the teacher.

 

The exam started and Kansei breezed through it, perfectly acing it with every question right. Even if She had a boyfriend, the princess was still the top of the class.

The day went on quick enough, it was great to know that exams were coming to an end and with that came the vacations as well as Christmas. What a jewel.

He had never actually thought of how others spent their holidays but now, with Kansei, he felt like a silver spooned child. Perhaps he was but the price was big, he knew exactly why they went out every winter exactly why no one wanted to stay home. It had been a long time since his father had passed but his grandmother and mother felt like it was yesterday and did not want to be reminded every winter of what had happened.

With a sigh he removed all negative thoughts and shifted in his chair.

'Let's finish this' Katsu happily enough had always made it into the top 5 he wasn't about to drop now.

 

Once the ending of the exams were declared most of the student cheered and smiled at each other, the next few days left in the week would be the closing ceremony and a time of planning for the next semester. Katsu looked back at the other boy feeling a bit giddy with all the cheerful atmosphere and that's when it hit him.

Walking over he placed his hand in his poket the other holding a sweater "hey" he said softly

It was so nice to have exams over and to be able to focus on vacation. Sure, Kansei had no plans and would probably be spending them alone, at least this year he had one other person to think about as far as Christmas presents went. What kind of a girlfriend would he be if he didn't get Katsu something nice.... but what could he want? What did guys even want for gifts? Shit.... how could a guy not know these things?!

 

Just then, he was snapped out of his train of thought and looked up at Katsu who spoke out to him. "Hi, Katsu." Everyone gasped as their princess called the school's prince by his first name. They had gotten close fast. Though, it probably wasn't the first time they had called each other by their first names... Was it? Oh well.

 

"What's wrong?" She asked concerned something bad may have happened.

Katsu brushed in embarrassment away, his name sounded so pleasant as it rolled from the others lips.

What the hell?

Quickly he clreared his thoughts "There's a pancake shop near here, would you like to go there's something I'd like to ask.... you" it wouldn't be considered a date, dates required planning right?

'Not a date, not a date' he told himself over and over 'it's a.... business meeting' with this Katsu was pleased, that's what they had going on here dating for convenience? Sure.

 

His mind was a ball of yarn full of tangles, it happened each time he spoke to Kansei. They were friends, why would he have a hard time talking to the other.

"Its on me" he added taking out his phone and sending a quick message to his mother.

"Sure, I'd love to go. I actually really like pancakes," Kansei said with a smile. he wasn't too thrilled about the extra looks he was getting for saying that... Shoot, that's right, they didn't know anything about him and now they knew that he liked pancakes... but is that really such a big deal? After all, most people like pancakes so who cares if he did as well... Kansei brushed the thought aside to focus more on Katsu.

 

"Let's get going," he stated and stood up getting everything else together for them to leave. As they went to switch their shoes, Kansei started to think about Christmas. After all, it was right around the corner now and he still had no idea what to get for Katsu. "What would work..." he whispered to himself as he walked to the door to meet up with the other. He was completely lost in thought and wasn't even aware if Katsu was talking or not. The long-haired boy was in his own little world.

Katsu went ahead and ordered two pancakes with cinnamon syrup and some decorative cream at the top. Around it were small designs from caramel that stood out nicely against the white plate. He wanted to snatch a picture of the dessert it looked so professional and fancy!

Before biting into it he took a sip of water, and then tasted the astonishing taste of hot pancake and warm cinnamon !

"This is so fitting for the season" he told Kansei.

 

The atmosphere at the shop was so welcoming as well. Despite the cold breeze outside, inside there was a scent of warm and comfort, but he guessed that was the ingredients for the pancakes and the small coffee shop section. The tables were relatively cute as well and it wasn't until after taking a long look that Katsu realized there were mainly couples there.

His heart skipped 'not a date!' He screamed intensely at himself before giving a calm and collective smile to the other boy.

 

"Comments regarding the dessert?"

By the time Kansei came out of his own little world again, they were already at the shop ordering pancakes. The boy focused on the menu in his hand and thought about what kind of pancake was best. He ended up picking a strawberry buttermilk pancake that also came with creamy strawberry sauce on top. When it came around, he was careful to take a small bite of it and found it to be just amazing.

 

"Wow Katsu, I've never had anything this good before!!" He said with a bright smile. As he was eating, Kansei took a moment to glance around and saw all the couples. 'What a perfect place for a date', he thought to himself. 'Was it his intention to come here and look like we were on a normal date?' Kansei thought about it as he stared at Katsu for a minute. The long haired boy was too afraid of it being a date but was curious if it had been intentional or if he was only doing this to be nice. He may have acted stuck up at times but it wasn't like the boy was an idiot.

 

Kansei continued to eat his pancakes and enjoying every bite of them. "Thanks for bringing me," he said in a low tone as soon as they had finished.

A dark flush spread through Katsu's face and he lowered his gaze to allow his hair to fall down, providing some coverage at least.

"N-no problem" he murmured in response

 

Where had his confidence gone? He thought to himself it's not like anything was happening between the two aside from their secret. Was it because of the atmosphere? Or....

Through his fallen bangs katsu stole a glance towards Kansei noticing the delightful face the other made

'Sweet lover' he mentally noted before his gaze moved to the others small lips.

 

'Oh.... there's cream on the bottom lip' despite this it seemed Kansei was unaware. Clearing his throats Katsu raised his hand and leaned closer to reach the other boys face. His finger traveled under Kensei's lip gently and lingered slightly even after he removed the content.

 

"Don't eat like a child" he said before retiring his hand but bringing it to his mouth cleaning away the cream that had been on the others lip.

"Strawberry"

"Sorry I can't eat elegantly enough for you," Kansei stated feeling a little deflated. Why did Katsu have to put it that way? The school's princess was just trying to enjoy some pancakes and it seemed her company thought she ate too much like a child. It was sweet of him to get the cream from his lip but at the same time, Kansei wished he'd noticed it sooner to take care of himself. Why was that bothering him?

 

 

He was usually so level headed and rarely got bothered by things. After all, if you are forced to dress as girl even through high school and not put up a fuss, why should he get irritated about anything? Then again, maybe it was the way he said it... the tone or action of dissing and then trying to be sweet and cute... It was like going on a date with a punk that was trying to act classy and it really just didn't seem to be working out... All the same, Kansei realized this might not actually be a date. After all, they were only pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend but that didn't mean Katsu actually wanted to date her or wanted to make anything sound official between them.

 

"Sorry, I didn't mean to say that..." he apologized, not because of what he said but for the fact that Katsu probably didn't want to be here... Not with a girl... After all, the prince probably didn't think of Kansei as a boy.

 

Kansei returned to the pancakes and ate slower to make sure no cream got left on his lips this time.
