Name: Fuyuki Motomiya

Age: 20, winter-born

Appearance: Dyed hair color to ash brown with mid-length wavy style, sharp dark chocolate eyes. Around 6'ft tall. Lanky, looks weaker than he actually is. Has nice wardrobe and attractive face, which makes him popular with women.

Personality: Very friendly, according to himself, but most of the times, his mouth runs quicker than his brain. He snaps at distractions. He's not too attached with anything, including people, which annoyed his past girlfriends but works well with his circle of friends. He follows his guts rather than his brain, though he's actually smart enough to never worry about his scores.

Short bio: His family is a rice farmer. Due to helping since he was little, he can lift an average human with one arm. Being the second son, he won't inherit the family business, but he still wants to help them and choose Biology major to have the knowledge if he has the chance to improve his family's livelihood in the future. Has an older brother, and older sister, and a younger sister. Most of his family are simple folks who makes fun of his "city boy" look.

The spring sun still shone bright when Fuyuki went out of the building. He still brought the heavy reference book with him, which was a huge hassle since he mostly used internet for his tasks anyway. However, to do his assignment, he needed to double refer it to the book, which meant he must know which pages his quotes were. Oh well, such was life.

It didn't take him long to find his friends in the cafeteria, they were the loud bunch. "So?" he greeted them, skipping the details. "I think you mentioned about some guy, Arita," he called the one who texted him when he was still in the class.

Name: Kenshi Akuyama

Age 19, spring born

Hair: Jet black, short, wavy

Eyes: Dark brown

Height: 5'9"

Build: Average, petite with gentle features that are androgynous to most, but dont overpower his masculinity.

Personality: Quiet, but not exactly shy. Has strong views and opinions, but keeps new people more at bay and is less likely to share or open up to them. Very studious, but prefers to find a creative way of learning and expressing himself rather than straight facts, often leading to people misunderstand him as stuck up or weird, but often reacts with the emotions he picks up from others.

Family: Has a twin sister. She often got the attention he always wanted from other boys, sometimes he'd wish he was born a girl too, just to pull it off with guys like she did so easily. Father is in marketing and mother is a doctor.

Kenshi fiddled with his camera, making notes of certain shots and how he planned to use them. The school paper was also short on skilled photographers, so a few other shots were on for team members less inclined to cameras. Suddenly he heard a new voice break through those of his friends around him in the cafeteria and reminded him that he'd barely touched his food. It sounded impatient and unpleasant to his ears, like the guy was annoyed.

Without looking up he spoke, guessing that "guy" was him, as normally he'd be in one of the labs at this time, but his friends had insisted him and another one of their friends had to finally meet. "Some guy, I hope thats not how you talk about me Arita." His eyes flicked up at his friend. "Name's Kenshi... I believe you're... Fu...yuki, right? Cool... there guys, we've met."

What's with his attitude? Fuyuki frowned. He also didn't like the way that other guy spell his name. His name wasn't that strange, damn it, there was no need to drag the sound. It was uncomfortable enough for a stranger to call his given name, so he just glared at Arita.

Arita answered, "I just said 'someone', Kenshi. My duty's done, okay, you two can deal, I haven't bought my lunch yet," he said, opening his baseball cap and walked to the counter.

Fuyuki huffed, he didn't like how this went. Still, he sat across the other guy and said, "So what's your business?"

Kenshi felt out of place suddenly. He wasn't used to people really taking notice of him, being behind a camera most of the time usually lead to that. Okay, what did Arita have on this guy to put him up to this? Did his friends really worry so much about him?

He held up his camera in indication. "I work the paper if thats what you mean." He looked up a bit to take in the other's looks, a bit surprised. Oh, I guess I'm suppsed to fall all over his type. Wonder if he's all looks. "What about you?"

"That damned Arita..." Fuyuki mumbled to himself, massaging his temple. It was rare for that guy to introduce someone deliberately, so Fuyuki had previously thought that he got to do some errand for this new guy.

"Obviously, none of your business," he said, all thorns. He knew Kenshi wasn't the one at fault here, so he sighed and fixed his attitude. "You should probably eat your lunch, being that small," he said, grabbing his own homemade lunch from the bag that he made this morning.

"Excuse me?" Kenshi frowned, disturbed by the other man's sudden shift in attitude. So he is all looks then. He squirmed uncomfortably in his seat.

Then he heard the man sigh, as though disappointed and commented on how he should eat for his weight, a subject he often got picked on for. "Oh and sorry if my frame isn't your type, but news flash just because Arita thinks you need to meet more guys doesn't grant you judging my looks."

He suddenly smirked with a hint of bitterness directly at Fuyuki, observing he was rather thin himself. "Or maybe you're just projecting your own issues?"

That hit a sore spot. Fuyuki didn't have many guys to hang out with. Girls sometimes swarmed at him and made him generally being avoided by the guys.

"Just so you know," he began, entirely wishing his chopstick was one he must separate by force so he could vent, "I'm strong enough to lift you up my head in matter of seconds, so don't judge my look, you ungrateful jerk!" He couldn't stop himself from saying the insult, because really, that previous comment was a peace offering, and this Kenshi guy just tossed it like a trash.

Kenshi groaned, "Well according to you I'm underweight, so even a guy like you should have no problem lifting me." The thought of being picked up by another man did make him blush.

"Ungrateful? To have your criticism? My apologies. I figured a friend of a friend would be nicer or just leave me alone if they didn't like me like everyone else." He hung his camera around his neck with a huff. "I suddenly have no appetite." He pushed the plate away and stood up with a sigh. "Enjoy your lunch."

Fuyuki honestly didn't know how to reply to that bitter sentence. The expression was just how his family told each other to eat more and chill, why would this guy take it so negatively? He was just about to reply with something snappy when Arita came with his bowl of ramen. Fuyuki eyed him in disbelief. Extra spicy beef ramen for lunch, when he still had classes afterwards? "Good luck with that," he commented at Arita.

Said common friend ignored Fuyuki and addressed Kenshi though. "Where are you going, man? Lunch break is just starting and I just brought my food here." He made an inquisitive look at Fuyuki, who avoided that glance. "Just ignore this guy if he offends you somewhat."

"You know me, charming the pants off everyone." Kenshi huffed again at Arita's suggestion to just ignore Fuyuki, interesting he'd speak of another friend that way. It made Kenshi smirked slightly that maybe the guy rubbed most people the wrong way. "Heh, sure I'm not getting in the way? I'm ususally off printing this time anyway."

He slouched in his chair turning half way away from Fuyuki and facing Arita. "You sure you are going to be alright?" He pointed at the ramen. "I can even smell the spice." Out the corner of his eye he saw Fuyuki's home lunch. He decided to pull his lunch closer, but only poked at it.

"You jerk!" Fuyuki yelled at Arita, who ignored him too. They were too used to goof and badmouth each other, so this was nothing out of ordinary. Merely huffing afterwards, Fuyuki returned to his meal. There was a complete set of rice, nori, salad, octopus-shaped sausages, and even tomato cherries inside the bento box. He was educated to have a balanced meal since he was little.

"This isn't nearly enough to make my palate satisfied," Arita said with a grin to Kenshi, then asked Fuyuki, "Say, I remember you told me, one of your classes are including some nature observations." Arita was the one with most common sense among Fuyuki's friends, even if he was known to be a little sadistic once he got close to people.

Fuyuki bowed to the bento box in casual manner before taking his chopsticks and started eating. "True that," he replied lightly. "The nightlife observation is going to be a hassle. I don't have proper equipment for that, and renting is a heck lot more expensive than I expected."

"Equipment... like high-end camera? Then why don't you ask for Kenshi's help here?" Arita grinned mischievously.

Kenshi furrowed his brow at Arita. "I'm sure my help would be less than satisfactory." He smirked at Fuyuki with a bit of malice. "I know the AV guys run high on their rentals, downpayment is half the price of the chosen camera for like six hours, and like $20 each hour after."

He took up a bite of his chicken katsu curry before it got too cold. It was his favorite, but honestly the other guy had ruined his appetite. "I have good equipment, but it goes nowhere without me." His eyes fell sternly on Fuyuki.

"Then forget it," Fuyuki bit back in an instant, not caring if he didn't get the equipments or what not. Still, he ate his meal obediently, though the taste wasn't as enjoyable as he would have likened.

Arita, though, ever the sadistic jerk, sling his arms over Fuyuki while looking at Kenshi. "Don't mind what this guy said, Kenshi. You can ask for his help too if you need some kind of local tour, he knows his way around here. He needs you," Arita said with a wink.

"Don't go putting words into my mouth, you bastard!" Fuyuki shoved Arita away, which Arita dodged, fully knowing how strong Fuyuki was when he didn't control his power.

"You'll thank me for this, I know it bro!"

Fuyuki groaned.

Kenshi paused in thought. What was Arita getting at that he would so strongly suggest that the other guy needed him, and that Fuyuki could provide info to him. "I can do it... if you do something for me."

His expression was blank as he spoke as to prevent the other guy from catching on how helpful he could truly be. "Well it is spring. I have been asked to do a series on the best spots to visit... summer romances is the theme." He took another bite, feeling a bit of his appetite return.

"We can start over," he said begrudgenly, "help each other." He said as much, but deep down felt his effort would take less to help and he liked the idea of keeping a jerk like this guy indebted to him, take his attitude down a notch.

Fuyuki really wanted to refuse the offer, but his money was tight this semester; the projected harvest of his family wasn't as good as usual, so they had to tighten the belt for this. He couldn't afford expensive non-primary necessities, not when the bait was dangling right in front of him. Throwing one last glare to Arita (who proly didn't care), he offered his hand for a shake and grumbled, "Fine."

He didn't like the idea of how he was going to stay indebted until summer came around. Damn.

Just to be clear--- is this summer? And I salute you for providing a nice plot tool. //claps slowly

Kenshi was not sure what he was doing when he watched the other man's hand offered to shake. He held his hand up, but only halfway out, just shy of the final shake. "Before we agree, how long would you need my equipment? It should be fair. If you need it a week, I say a few spots. But if you need a month... at least two for every week. And we need to exchange something so we both hold up our part."

Kenshi was serious, college reporter didn't mean he didn't have real journalism goals, and you had to trust your connections and know they wouldn't back out once they had what they wanted. He knew he and Fuyuki weren't getting along and would rather minimize the time together, though he wouldn't miss an opportunity.

I figure they'd propose summer ideas in spring, so I followed your note of spring, but a story would be ideas for the summer. Thanks for checking.

Fuyuki's hand curled stiffly, wishing claws would grow out of his nails and scratched the hand before him until it bled. "Exchange what?" he said coldly. "The schedule... I don't know if we can find the subject on the first try, there are several spots it might be in," he said, recalling that the species of bird he was going to find was rare in this area. He could think of several mountains they had to camp in, but because he didn't want to make that Kenshi back out from the deal, he didn't say that.

"And whatever, I'll take you anywhere you want." Fuyuki sighed like it was such a huge deal, though he was exaggerating.

Kenshi frowned. "Trying to make it just as fair to you as me is all. We could trade something special. Arita knows us both and could confirm we put up something special to us. I'd offer the vintage camera my grandfather gave me. Unless... you can't play nice with others even when it matters most?" His tone held a bit of snark, but his expression was flat and hand now extended out. "Or Arita can promise to make hell for the one that doesn't hold up his end." He looked over at their mutual friend with a sly smile.

Fuyuki shivered. Arita was his friend as much as Kenshi's, but he didn't doubt that Arita would unleash hell for the fun of it at any chance he got. He had seen that firsthand. Taking away the thick thread that was hidden under his shirt, he pulled it away from his neck and handed it over to Kenshi. "My family's omamori. Don't you dare lose it," he said. "And sheesh, tune down that attitude will you? If you're deliberately making me pissed off, you've succeeded since the beginning. Now let me finish my lunch!"

After the last sentence, he looked at his bento box again and pulled an octopi to his mouth.

Kenshi looked at the item with deep consideration. He wasn't prepared to be handed something immediately. "Ugh. Whatever. Same to you!" He pulled a case from his pack. He popped a roll of film from the camera around his neck and put the camera in the case. "I'll see you around Arita. And you," he spoke towards Fuyuki with a sigh, "we can work out the details tomorrow." He frowned and headed out of the cafiteria.

The next day couldn't come sooner. It was Tuesday, Fuyuki had classes on the noon that stretched until 6 PM. Lucky him, he thought cynically. The one class before lunch had been cancelled for the day, the teacher was sick. So he wondered what he could do to pass time before his class began again.

His neck felt weird without that omamori, and he swore he would kill Kenshi if that guy lost that. Inside the omamori pocket was a sea glass he found years ago when he was little on one vacation with a complete family. Now that he thought about it, afterwards they never got the chance to have the complete members again.

The digital light-weight thing around Kenshi's neck felt odd, fake even. It wasn't that he didn't like them, but he enjoyed the feel of the older camera, the quality of the make, the mechanical sounds of the shutter, and he loved developing by hand. Everyone was a photographer with digital cameras and camera phones. They could apply whatever filters. But he liked doing it by hand, finding interesting details, and even beautiful mistakes. Why the hell did he offer it up to that ass?

Instead, in order to promote respect for his own item, he wore the other man's omamori. Not looking inside, not caring that much to know, he could at least tell something with a bit of weight was held inside. He didn't want to wear someone elses charm, but he risked it getting burried under stuff at home, picked up by someone else at the photo lab, and he never could remember the combo to his little locker the tech labs offered for equipment storage. Part of why he'd always have his grandfather's camera with him, other than it being his favorite to use.

He remembered back then he wanted a new camera, and he was disappointed when he got the old used thing. His grandpa showed him how to work and develop a couple of times before he passed. He had grown to appreciate it more, but always felt guilty he had been a jerk about it in the beginning.

He was leaving the dark room to allow his photos off the film he pulled yesterday to set when he spotted Fuyuki, not looking particularly focussed or aiming for anywhere. He huffed, not sure he wanted to start conversation on their exchange right now.

Fuyuki's eyes also met the other who obviously huffed when he saw Fuyuki. It was Kenshi. Either the last/most person he wanted to see today, just to get their arrangement over with. "Hey," he said cautiously. His eyes narrowed since he could figure out how much the other loathed to see him. It was fucking mutual. "So what the details?" he asked directly, clearly not wanting to prolong this meeting.

That tone of voice was grating. Why couldn't this guy just accept that they were helping each other? Usually by now even the most infuriating of people would give up and concede to cooperating with one another. Kenshi felt a huge mistake. The light weight around his neck and tucked under his shirt reminded him that this guy had to behave, and knowing that somewhere in the guy's possession was his camera case, meaning he would behave as well. "Hey..." Kenshi spoke softer than he would have liked to towards Fuyuki, but felt it would get the arrangement met with greater ease. "My first location piece is due in two weeks. If we could visit somewhere... maybe this Friday or Saturday, then I'd have enough time to write it. Then we can get the equipment from my house. I just need to know when you need to go out and how long we're keeping it going?"

Maybe it was losing the pride of his camera against his chest that made him feel... meeker around this guy. "I'm pretty flexible... schedule wise." His mouth curved a bit into a half smile. Not because he wanted to smile at Fuyuki, just he knew he could hold up his end of the bargain pretty easily. He hated the idea of falling short for anything. He needed to know what Fuyuki was looking to keep his end up.

"Friday is good," Fuyuki replied, trying to keep his voice down and civil. He checked the watch and saw that he still had more than two hours to spend and wondered if he should take Kenshi somewhere they could sit. Especially since Kenshi was a little more bearable now, than yesterday. Still, Fuyuki eyed that smile suspiciously. "My class ends early in Friday. The observation can take a couple hours or more, and I need datas from at least three different time. It can be late at night when I find the subject again, in the area where there are no public transport at that hour."

Shrugging, he continued, "I usually camp. And so will you if you insist on accompanying your stuffs."
