fruity
Fuyuki swore it was an impulse and he regretted it as soon as Kenshi leaned forward, downwards. This angle was not one he was supposed to see, was it? Kenshi fidgeting and hesitating before him was a lot more... (no, not arousing,) unexpected. He couldn't pinpoint the exact feeling, but it felt like they were doing something else altogether. "You're definitely an..." Fuyuki began, waiting until Kenshi looked at him again, then continued, "... M." He locked eye contact with Kenshi while lapping the cheesecake still sticking on his fork. It took him a second before realizing what he was doing, but he swore it was only, only because he wanted to prove to the other that Fuyuki himself was not a masochist. Though he didn't know why it mattered, as if it could hurt his masculinity, which, obviously, was baseless. "Huh, that was an indirect kiss," he said, his mouth ran quicker than his brain. "I guess you have something date-ish to write in your report." Fuyuki mentally groaned, wondering why the fuck had he been doing all these flirty stuffs on an impulse. It was just that Kenshi was grating on his nerves and he wanted to throw the other off their horse all the time. Totally not because the smaller male was suspiciously batting for the same team and thus might or might not find Fuyuki attractive. Not that he wanted to be found attractive by that infuriating guy. He just... Why was he thinking in this track, again? Another mental facepalm. Fuyuki had lost count of how many times he made excuse for himself in the span of a few seconds. Damn. SapphireD910
Kenshi sat back, his face felt warm and for some reason he felt very embarrassed. Fuyuki was always either toying with him in some weird way or criticizing something about him. He realized that he hadn't even swallowed the bite of cheesecake, the creaminess continuing to sit on his tongue, until he watched Fuyuki take the fork into his own mouth and clean off what he'd left there. He swallowed suddenly. His eyes lingered on Fuyuki's lips before shooting back to his eyes with the word 'kiss.' He found the back of his hand covering his mouth, sure his face was bright red. "I'm not writing any such thing like that. You got to have your fun with your perverted test. Hope you enjoyed yourself." Kenshi took a deep drink of water and pulled out his notepad. He wasn't even sure why he'd gone along with it, but he felt his body squirm a bit as he tried to focus on his notes. "I will note that the desserts are all delicious... and could be fun to share." He seemed to scribble a bit down before putting his notepad away. The waiter placed the check and Kenshi prepared to pay. He felt the need to splash some water to his face and cool down, suddenly regretting the large sweater. "I'm going to go to the restroom really quick." fruity
Excuses or not, it seemed that Fuyuki wanting to get Kenshi off his high horse was... successful? "...Ha," Fuyuki made a sound, covering the corner of his lips that threatened to break into a smirk. Rubbing the side of his mouth, he noted how red Kenshi's face was. How those eyes locked into his lips. This had gone into a very dangerous area, he thought. "Oh I did," Fuyuki said. "And you did too, didn't you?" He watched as Kenshi paid for the meal. "Hold on, are you really going to just eat one cake?" Fuyuki asked to Kenshi who had excused himself. "What a major waste of money," he commented, but didn't stop Kenshi from going. Looking at his own plate, Fuyuki quickly finished his cheesecake, then starting on the keylime pie without hurrying. "Hm... the acidity is just... nice," he said, enjoying the dessert. He could definitely grow a sweet tooth if this was the kind of dessert he was going to taste from now on.
SapphireD910
Stepping into the bathroom the light A/C felt good against his flustered skin. He looked in the mirror and indeed he was a hue of pink all over. "What the hell is with that guy?" He whispered aloud. He was feeling so overheated he pulled off his sweater down a plain white teeshirt beneath. What was that he was doing? It really was perverse, and he didn't even deny it, he totally enjoyed it. Kenshi narrowed his eyes in his reflection. Maybe Fuyuki was just putting up a front. Maybe he was into guys. Maybe he was into both and just pretended to only be interested in girls? Wait, what are you thinking, it doesn't matter what that jerk is into! Kenshi couldn't even look at himself in the mirror at those thoughts and recalling that fork going from his mouth to the other man's. Any other guy and that may have even turned him on. He combed his hand through his hair and clutched his sweater into his arms, deciding to let some cool hair hit his skin for a while. He could put it back on at the campsite. Shit, I have to spend the night with that guy! How the hell did I decide a dumb story was worth this. He groaned, but made his way out to the table. "I hope you're not going to be sick after all those sweets." He said as he stood by the table. Really his hope was that the guy wouldn't make him sick or have to deal with him being sick all night. "Are you ready?" He turned his eyes away. "Thank you for introducing me to this place. I'll have to try it again sometime."
fruity
As soon as Kenshi was out of sight, Fuyuki slumped into the table, making a mental groan. There was still another cake left, but he liked dark chocolate, he could eat it in one go later. "What the hell was that..." he murmured, not even sure if the question was directed to himself or to that Kenshi. He didn't act like this around girls, afraid of hurting them one way or the other. He didn't act like this around guys, not with the amount of flirting he had to admit doing. Get your act together!, Fuyuki scolded himself before propping himself up on the table. With just one stab of fork, he ate whole portion of the chocolate cake. It was on time too, since that guy appeared again from the restroom. "Ho... So you can be decent," Fuyuki said, blinking at Kenshi's gratitude words. "Thank you for treating me too... I guess," he said, before standing up and went to the entrance door. However, before they made a turn to the parking lot, Fuyuki grabbed Kenshi's sweater again. He tried not to extort excessive strength in doing so, he just wanted to stop the smaller male in his tracks. "I told you before. There's a popular park nearby," he said. "They plant different sections with different seasonal flowers, so couples go there all the time."
SapphireD910
He rolled his eyes at at Fuyuki's suggestion that he'd never been decent. Maybe Fuyuki encouraged his ruder side, but he'd definitely tried to hold back more recently to give into the other man's jerk behaviors. He'd been better behaved tonight for the most part though, so Kenshi would try hard to not break that. If Fuyuki had to be rude it would only prove Kenshi's initial thoughts and it'd be no fault of his. The made their way to the door when Kenshi paused feeling the force on his sweater not sure what the other male was up to. He tugged his sweater back but paused in his tracks none the less. He wasn't sure what to do with the information given to him on the park. It seemed... unnecessary at this point. What would they do there exactly anyway? "I forgot about that part." It sounded too sweet and peaceful. The idea of going there with Fuyuki made something shift in him. Nerves? Why? "I suppose we can take a quick walk through. No need to linger around the couples though." Part of him did appreciate the guy fulfilling everything he had offered, but he was feeling uncertain about the way things were going. "Have you been on many dates to learn about these places or something?" He had to admit Fuyuki had looks that a lot of girls would swoon over, even he could... wait, no... no! He wasn't going to let even his thoughts go there.
fruity
"Since you need a lot of reference, I figure going to just one place wouldn't be advantageous," Fuyuki said, rubbing his shoulder. After being inside the hotel, the air outside felt a little colder. Removing the dark red jumper from his waist, he waited until they were completely out of the hotel before wearing it over his shirt. The collars and bottom fabric peeked from the jumper in a casual elegant touch. For some reason, he could sport bright colors without it seeming weird or out of place. "Not as many as you'd probably mock me for," Fuyuki answered instantly. "But they showed the magazines to me, and I have good memories," he said, mentioning that there were more than just one girlfriend who often made the initiative to take him places. He also crosschecked about the availability with the internet. The park was just beside the hotel, but the managements were completely different. That was why there was another fee to enter the park. Figuring that Kenshi had treated the meal, Fuyuki just automatically pulled out his wallet and told the ticketman, "Two adults." Getting the change to his money, Fuyuki threw a glance at Kenshi and said, "Let's go in, it's a clear day so there might be a lot of people." SapphireD910
Kenshi still scoffed on the inside about Fuyuki's dating. He felt the guy was obnoxiously trying to downplay the amount of dating he'd done. But a part of him also felt... jealous. Not of him... not of those girls who got to date him... he just didn't know, but it was the only way he could describe the feeling. Watching him put on his jumper he found his eyes wondering to take in the other male's form. Why couldn't this be any other guy? I could actually let myself fully enjoy this, enjoy looking him over, maybe reach my hand out to touch his... if it were some other guy. Just so long as they were just as handsome... NO! Other people might think so, but I... shouldn't. I don't! Yet, Kenshi felt himself soften when Fuyuki paid to get into the park. He almost reached out to say he didn't have to, but he remembered what he put out for lunch, and how the guy had seemed so proud about being paid for. He figured he could just let him take the cost. "Thanks." When the other guy glanced at him he found it hard to look him in the face. Why was this feeling like what a date should be, just with a guy who obviously didn't want to actually date him. Maybe at the very least he could use this conflicting feelings to fuel his writing and encourage the couples to follow their steps. He followed Fuyuki's lead, both in tossing his sweater back on and his steps into the park. It was truly beautiful, and it was indeed popular. He wondered since it seemed almost all couples if anyone might think they were dating just from being here? Maybe they'd actually look good together. Then again, wasn't this guy constantly using the word date and telling him how much like a date things were. Just thinking about it seemed to make Kenshi's palms sweat. Looking over the scenery of the park he let a bit of awe over the fresh blossoms slip out, a smile spreading across his face. It was this moment that he wished he had his grandfather's camera, but at the very least he pulled out his phone and snapped a shot of what looked like a sea of flowers and a rainbow of colors. "How have I never been here before?" He questioned aloud to himself.
fruity
"Because you don't go on dates?" Fuyuki retorted with an 'isn't that obvious' look on his face as soon as Kenshi talked about that. Fuyuki tried not to look at the other, feeling a little awkward. Still, he kept his pace so that they still walked side by side. His ears caught every noise Kenshi made, proving that he was thoroughly conscious about Kenshi's presence. He really didn't expect that things would go this way. It somehow felt like a date, or an outing when he started approaching someone and they were in the unsure stage. (That was really specific; Fuyuki tried not to think about it.) Actually, not only couples went here. There were four girls obviously just finishing their tour around the place. His dark eyes met one of theirs, and she made a small run approaching him. "Uhm... sorry," she said, with a slight blush from running. "Do you think you could take a panoramic picture of us?" Not even thinking that Kenshi was the photographer between them, Fuyuki just nodded and said, "Sure." He didn't ask for permission from Kenshi and just walked away, following the girl and borrowed their phones to take pictures in turns. "Thank you!" the approaching girl said after a while. "If you want, I can also take a picture of you and your date~" Fuyuki blinked. A pause. "...We're not like that," he said. He didn't know what to think that people saw them both like that. The girl covered her mouth. "Oh, but... I was so sure... You two made a very good looking couple. I mean, you two are very good looking." Scratching his wavy hair, Fuyuki said, "Thank you. He'll be happy to hear that from a cute girl like you." That was a small polite exchange of compliments. They bowed in gratitude, to which Fuyuki just replied by waving back. Afterwards, he looked around to see where Kenshi was.
SapphireD910
Kenshi was startled to say the least when a young girl approached Fuyuki in particular. He found some humor in the fact that the other was asked to take a photo for a group of girls, knowing full well it was probably that they found him handsome. If only they knew that was practically my job, he scoffed. He wouldn't have minded, except that he seemed to catch the way Fuyuki seemed to appreciate the girl's looks. Why he didn't know, maybe he had allowed himself to feel the atmosphere of a date by mistake. He loosened up his neck of some sudden tension and turned towards a path leading to a fountain, not too far from Fuyuki that the two couldn't easily spot each other. He couldn't hear them from his spot at the fountain, but he watched as the particular girl who had approached seemed to speak directly to Fuyuki. Her expression changed to a little embarrassment and Kenshi wondered if the guy had shamelessly hit on her or something. He too seemed to be acting uncharacteristically bashful over something said. Geez... could he just not right now. He felt a pout form on his face before he could help it. He made himself comfortable, looking into the waters of the fountain. But looking around he suddenly felt a little lonely. So many couples and groups of friends, neither of which he and Fuyuki were, even when the other man eventually rejoined him. He looked back over and noticed him finishing up and obviously trying to locate him before their gazes locked on one another. He felt his chest skip a beat and cursed himself. When the taller man joined him he felt awkward. "So... what was so embarrassing?"
fruity
Apparently, Kenshi was close. Fuyuki approached the smaller male in his usual pace--- which was too fast for most people. It wasn't as if he was rushing. "Nothing," Fuyuki answered the question. As if he could tell the other something embarrassing as being mistaken as a couple! "No, I'll take that back. You're very good looking," he said, deliberately making a pause to gauge Kenshi's reaction. Not knowing why he said that, it was true that Kenshi was gorgeous. Objectively speaking. At least, Fuyuki's own misunderstanding when they met earlier should be some kind of sign.
SapphireD910
Kenshi blushed with a nervous laugh but almost immediately his eyes shot open wide with shock. He's not... oh no... I don't know what to do... no, he's not talking to me, he can't be... I... he's into girls... and I'm sure he hates me... and I'm pretty sure I don't like him either... no, I know I don't like him... no matter how handsome I think he is... or... how how nervous I suddenly feel.... "Wait, what?" He felt almost trapped in this awkward situation, unsure what he could do to change subjects. He looked around skeptical for a moment. What a jerk! He's just messing with me, he knows I'm gay and he wants to make fun of me, humiliate me, in public! "Ha... very funny. Are you messing with me? Where is she, the girl you're really talking about? You keep these jokes up and I'll start to think you've actually taken a liking to me." Yeah right, like that would ever happen... like I'd even want that to happen. fruity
That's what she said about you, was what Fuyuki wanted to continue his sentence with, but those words dies in his throat. That Kenshi was blushing, like, really blushing because of what Fuyuki said? This wasn't amusing anymore, this was... This was... What was this, exactly? Fuyuki gulped. "What do you mean, girls? I said that to you," he said without clearing up the confusion and the awkward mood between them. Fuyuki made another mental facepalm. Am I always this shallow?, he thought. Thinking that someone was interested in him, and all he wanted to do was to see how far he could go with that? No, it must have been the other guy's fault too. Who knew that someone with so much spite in their first meeting would react like that to his words? Yeah, this was all Kenshi's fault. "Whatever man, let's go one round before going to my place," Fuyuki said, then made a mental groan for that slip of tongue. "The trip would take a few hours so we might arrive when it was already dark," he said, not bothering to fix his words and praying sorely that Kenshi would get a hint and not get excited about that. SapphireD910
"Are you feeling well?" He squinted at the other man, not exactly concerned but at least suspicious of where all this was coming from. "Next thing you might try to kiss me and have me write about it. Or maybe you think because you're so handsome you can just charm anyone." Shit, do not focus on what I just said... do NOT! I didn't mean it like that... I was not complimenting you like that! And you practically said the same thing to me! He jumped at the chance to avoid both their awkward behavior as Fuyuki urged them to explore before moving on to the camp site. "Sure... whatever." He said softly, still feeling uneasy, especially with the word choice of the other. One round? Your place? He felt a slight shudder. "Next time I want to spend more time here." Next time? That made it sound like he was inviting Fuyuki to do this again with him. He just meant the next time he was here, he didn't care what the other did. He found himself side glancing the other man, and again, the thumping in his chest annoyed him. What happened to just giving this jerk a piece of my mind? Then again, was it so bad if they could tolerate each other for a bit? "Once I have that camera back I can get some really good shots." He pulled out his phone again taking a few pictures before putting it away.
fruity
I didn't realize Kenshi had given his gramps' camera. Did they need it as one of the equipments brought to the camp? Okay, just what were they doing right now? Going with the flow, let alone Fuyuki, it seemed that Kenshi was reciprocating in whatever weird exchange of words they were currently having. Fuyuki tried to be the adult one and didn't say anything to that hidden compliment that he was handsome. But the attempt was so hard that he had to cover his mouth and sighed to it. Be the adult one, he chanted, and decided to respond to Kenshi's words as is. "Sure. The flowers will be in full bloom in about three weeks," he said, looking at the species and made an educated guess. "We could go back here again." We?, Fuyuki groaned to himself. Why did that sound like scheduling for a date? He looked at Kenshi who was taking pictures and decided not to bring that up to light. "Well, with that decided, I think we can cut short here," he said, putting hands to his pocket. "Let's go now?"
SapphireD910
No worries, it's his favorite general camera for still shots, but not his only, just very special to him. The idea is is that he's offering filming equipment that he still owes his parents for and doesn't use that often. Kenshi furrowed his brows when Fuyuki suggested that they head out. He wasn't really ready to leave, but he knew they were already going to have trouble with it being dark soon. "Hope you have plenty of flashlights, we'll need the help with setting up the tent and the filming equipment." He stretched a little as he walked and took a deep breath of all the floral scents in the air. He let out a sigh of disappointment when they reached the exit and promised himself that it wasn't the last time. He looked over at Fuyuki recalling all the weird things he'd been saying. They made it to the car but before Kenshi got in he looked over at Fuyuki. He had a few things that came to mind but all of them felt... wrong. "How far would you say it is?" He turned to the other man before started up the car.
fruity
Fuyuki looked at Kenshi, noticing the obvious disappointment. But he didn't say anything until they were in the car. "They're open at weekdays," he said as Kenshi started the engine. "Since your schedule is so flexible, just go back here later." Fiddling with his smartphone, he had been looking at the GPS to the first location he knew of. It wasn't the closest, but had the most probability of spotting the target. The speces he was looking for was also nocturnal, thus it was more advantageous to look for them when they were most active. Finding the location, he leaned right towards the driver seat and said, "It says 2 hours and 10 minutes."
SapphireD910
"Oh man, I had no idea!" Kenshi was not excited to be on the road that long. Even less so with the tension building with Fuyuki. Today was the first time they didn't seem seconds from punching each other since meeting, so while there was a lot to learn, he wasn't sure they could avoiding pushing each other's buttons. "You can put on whatever music if you want." He fidgeted a little. "So, whats the species you're tracking? And are you going to be up all night or let the camera capture some of it without you?" He wasn't sure about trying to sleep if Fuyuki was up all night, but he also knew he couldn't stay up all night. "Should you sleep some of the ride if you need to be up tonight?" fruity
Fuyuki had an eyebrow arched from all of the offers. "You sound amicable," he said, mouth running fast again. "It's still in the same subspecies as thrush, I need to find them first before I can take pictures. And yeah, if you don't mind being left alone, I'm going to snore in this car. I'm leaving this on but don't open messages." Answering everything in one go, Fuyuki made his seat more comfortable and closed his eyes. He always liked some sleep in a long trip. That sounded a little unfair for Kenshi though, maybe Fuyuki would behave and be more nicer as soon as he woke up.
SapphireD910
"Snorer then? Good to know before we sleep together." Shit! His body stiffened, but Fuyuki seemed to immediately get comfortable and doze off putting him more at ease. He reached for the radio dial, turning on a soft rock station. He looked over at the now sleeping Fuyuki. He actually looked really peaceful. His features were softened and.... Focus on the road Kenshi! Kenshi nudged the other man, not all that gently but not roughly either. He noticed the firmness of Fuyuki's arm and warmth of his body. The contact made him shiver. "Okay sleeping beauty," he teased. "Ready to setup camp? Its getting dark, but we have enough light to see what we're doing if we hurry."
fruity
Fuyuki heard something suspicious, but at that time, his mind had entered the dozing mode. If that didn't alarm him, probably it wasn't that important, afterall. Indeed he snored lightly in every 3-4 intake of breath, which could be muted if someone put a fabric above his mouth. Usually he would toss around as well in a place that he wasn't familiar with, but either he was sleeping lightly to take care not to move around, or Kenshi's care made him feel comfortable, that he didn't wake up before someone nudged him. "Hey there..." he made a lazy greeting, remembering to behave and be nicer when he woke up. It would be linked to their survival as well. No one should spend a time in wilderness with animosity towards each other. Fuyuki lazily opened his eyes. His expression looked a little like a child when unfocused like this. He had to force his eyes open several times before finally waking up. Yawning hard, he opened the car's door and stretched his arms. The mountain wind felt nice, but it was too cold for a person who just woke up. "Yeah, we need to set up a camp deeper and locate the hunter's hut in case the weather gets bad," he said, looking up. The sky above them was clear, though they could see heavy clouds on the northern sky. "I know a clearing near water source, c'mon." Fuyuki opened the car and gathered his backpack and cooler box easily. "Are these your rations?" he asked while taking the bags with ease. These were still lighter than rice sacks. SapphireD910
After waking him Kenshi felt like he was facing a different person. Maybe Fuyuki just got invested enough in his work that he could maintain this ease and almost... kindness. Wasn't Kenshi doing the same though? Except another feeling kept creeping up and confusing him. Fuyuki seemed quick to get things going despite just waking up, dishing out information immediately. "Hunter's hut? Why not stay there immediately?" Then he heard Fuyuki gathering the bags. He was surprised to find him trying to carry just about everything. "Yeah, I brough a few M.R.E.s, jerky, some dried fruits and a water filter." He smiled feeling pretty prepared for not doing such things much. "Was that not correct?" He said a little snarkly, expecting Fuyuki to criticize him. He took up a bag and the sleeping bags from the car. "Don't worry, I figured out you're pretty strong. Don't have to take on so much of it alone though." He remembered how firm Fuyuki's arms were and sort of wanted to squeeze one again. No, stop that. "Ready?" fruity
"Er... because it's hunter's hut?" Fuyuki snapped back, then figured Kenshi might not mean it that way. Come on, make some effort, he told himself. "I mean, some hunters probably use them for skinning or whatever they're doing in this season. I don't know, I never mingle with those people, but I figure it'll be nice to know where we can find other people for help. Unless they're serial killers; we'll never know," he said lightly. Fuyuki was used to assess dangers and look for an anticipatory moves. Of course, in case they really were serial killers, Fuyuki was ready to fight. He would definitely lose if they were national champion in judo or something, but otherwise, he was pretty strong to hold out until he could find a way to escape. But that kind of scenario was too bizarre. He was more concerned with sudden rain showers or landslides than thinking about serial killers on the loose. "You've more common sense than I do. I prepared two bento for dinner and some store-bought bread for breakfast, enough to halt the hunger until we get back to the city tomorrow," he said. "Ha, yeah right. Because I'm doing all this just to impress you." Fuyuki meant those words to be a cynical joke, but since he wanted to behave, he lost a huge amount of bites in his words, meaning they probably sounded like a straightforward flirt. Damn. "Let's go," he said, leading the way, because letting Kenshi respond would probably make things a little more awkward. Upon entering the woods, Fuyuki could discern a small wooden hut. He had a strong wind direction senses, so after marking that on the self-made map he took from the bag, he continued walking for about ten minutes until they arrived at a small river. There was a clearing on the other side of the river, so Fuyuki walked across the water that just reached above his ankle.
SapphireD910
Kenshi didn't like all the talk of killers, as unlikely as the stuff was. But the weather was of more concern. The clouds were rolling in suddenly, though they didn't appear to be too dark, they were blocking their last bits of light. He pulled out a flashlight as he followed Fuyuki pointing it at their path. It was impressive how the other male seemed to navigate the area, though part of him felt the other male was more than aware of his skill and to mention it would just stroke his ego. He paused when they reached the river, watching the other just make his way across casually. Sure he'd worn boots, but he wasn't prepared to walk through water, even if not that deep. He looked around for some rocks and shallow spots. Finding a few he hopped across like a game of hopscotch. However, the hop to the other side caught him a bit. He avoided getting wet, but he fell forward onto his knees... in front of Fuyuki.
fruity
Fuyuki saw that messy attempt. Since he was waiting for Kenshi, he stood just in the right spot to catch Kenshi. He couldn't do much with his right that held the cooler box and other bags, but he swung his left and held Kenshi. The warmth stunned him for a while; he didn't know what to think with that. Maybe because he always thought the other would be like cold blooded shark or something, at least before today. "You don't just hopscotch with boots on, idiot," he said, but it was still biteless. Propping Kenshi up, he removed his arm and strangely missed that warmth. Fuyuki walked a little further from the rocks and the grassless area, because those tended to sign the water level when the river's water volume rose. "If you wound your knees, help yourself with the first aid kit," he said, handing over the small red bag to Kenshi from his bag. Then Fuyuki started building the tent.
