Name: Kason Reid

Species: Ibex

Appearance: Long brown hair reaching his lower back, tanned skin and deep black eyes. He also has freckles.

Height: 186 cm

Build: Muscles well defined, sign of working out

Personality: Kind and sweet but snaps easily, said to be scary when mad, possessive and rather protective

Bussiness-wise, the day was fairly ordinary. The morning customers which were all regulars had already left and the store was now empty, not that it was much of a surprise. Everyday around this time the situation was about the same, exception being the weekends when the place was more often than not packed.

" Alisia. I will be outside if you need me. You can just take your break now if you want to. Ah please tell Connor the same." The young man spoke in a kind voice as he addressed the young woman that was wiping the tables at the moment, a panther with black short hair and lithe body. She simply flashed him a grin, giving him a thumbs up.

Taking on a broom, Kason found it to be the perfect timing to clean the outside like he was doing every single day. He closed the door behind him, only so the dust would not get inside, not starting his work until he braided his long hair behind his back just so it does not get all that dirty. He had quite a good feeling about this particular day, feeling that started early in the morning and lasted up until now. Kas could not help but smile to himself as he cleaned, humming softly.

---

It was warm, that was the one good thing, other than that nothing seemed to be going right that morning. Fisk had burned breakfast, he had looked away for a moment too long and the pancakes had burned. Eric had a big meeting that day, Fisk knew about the big meeting but he had still burnt breakfast. Eric was the one who provided for him, took care of him, fed him... Without Eric, Fisk had no one. So why had he made such a stupid mistake? That extra stress could affect Eric's performance at work, he could be fired and it would all be Fisk's fault.

Because of that Fisk had to be punished. With a new cut hidden under his shirt, Fisk had been thrown out of the house. Eric would call him when he was allowed back home. Of course Fisk didn't have any money, he didn't have a job, why would he have his own money?

He hoped that he wouldn't have to stay out all night again... Just the idea made him shiver. It was so scary to be left alone on the streets.

As he wandered Fisk couldn't help but notice that he stood out like a sore thumb. His clothes were disheveled and he was starting to bleed through the shirt. He kept his eyes on the ground, trying to hide the bruise forming on his cheek and how his eyes were red and puffy from crying. At least it was warm... He didn't have to worry about feeling cold...

Kas had just finished swiping the outside and was prepared to return inside. In one hour or so, more customers would arrive but until then, it was about time that he took a break himself and enjoyed a cup of tea along with some early lunch. Connor said he'd prepare some cookies along with sandwiches for lonch afterall, and it would be a lie to say he was not looking forward. The lion's cooking had always been the best but sadly most of it was destined for customers rather than for personal consumption.

Yet Kason froze in his steps. His eyes fell upon a mop of fiery hair with matching ears, the sight shaking his very core. It only took someone one glance to notice how worn out the man looked, and the more one observed the fox, the worse it would get. He seemed to be bleeding. It was showing through his shirt. To top it off, his face was not in any better condition.

The brunette took a deep breath then put on a warm smile, approaching the stranger without hesistation, unlike the passersby that either only stared or kept their distance.

"Excuse me!" He casually spoke loudly enough for the other to hear, his smile not showing pity but rather concern. "Would you like some tea and cookies? It's on the house." He kept his voice gentle as he pointed towards the cafe, only to make sure the other would not take him as someone suspicious. His outfit was his regular working one afterall so he was sure anyone would be able to understand. He wore a black uniform with a white apron, mostly because often he played waiter along with Alisia.

Fisk instinctively flinched away from the voice. Why was this man talking to him? Had he done something wrong? "I-I'm sorry I-" He stopped himself as the man continued to speak. Free tea and cookies..? His stomach growled softly at the idea, he hadn't had anything to eat before leaving... And he probably wouldn't have another chance to eat until Eric allowed him home.

"I... I don't have any money..." He met the stranger's eyes for a moment before looking away. "At all, I can't pay i-if you change your mind and I can't buy more if it's a free sample..." His fingers moved to fidget with the hem of his shirt.

This sort of thing always felt unnatural. Being outside like this was his punishment for making stupid mistakes. People shouldn't be nice to him right now. But still... He needed to eat something. Eric would be even more angry if Fisk passed out from hunger and didn't answer his phone when he was called. Or worse, if he was found and brought to the hospital. That would cause Eric so many problems. So a cookie wouldn't be too much... He would make sure to apologize to Eric right away.

The young man took a slow step towards the cafe, waiting for any sign that he wasn't actually wanted there.

The smile on the brunette's face seemed to soften even further, his eyes looking nothing else but warm as he maintained visual contact. The fox seemed to be the type that got easily startled, very much so to be honest, something that truly made the ibex feel unspeakable sadness. It was actually not unusual for Kason to invite strangers for tea, this was definitely not his first time yet surely, this person looked to be in a worse state than many that he had seen.

He did not rememeber when exactly he started doing it. His grandfather, the previous owner of the cafe which passed away five years ago, always had the habit of bringing in downcast strangers and offering them free calming tea and a small something to eat, just chatting with them and listening to their problems if they were willing to share. For sure, the old man had saved a lot of lives by just doing such a simple act of kindness, many of the people bursting into tears as they were comforted. Some of the regulars were actually such people, people that got offered a listening ear during hard times. It was not like they were expected to return, but they did either way.

Kason seemed to have picked up his grandfather's habit himself. Perhaps it was because the old man was the closest person to him, or perhaps because he often spent his free time helping out around the store. He would not know himself, but it was not like it actually mattered.

The brunette opened the door widely for the fox, shaking his head but not wishing to rush him in the least. "Please do not worry, I do not require any money. It is but a simple tea invitation. Go ahead and sit wherever you would like alright?"

The offer was too enticing for Fisk to refuse. He very slowly walked towards the man, he was trembling slightly, prepared for the stranger to turn on him. When the man showed no sign of doing such a thing Fisk entered the cafe. His gaze flitted around the cafe nervously.

He quietly sat down in the corner, trying to make himself as small as possible. His ears flattened against his head. It felt like he was somehow lying to this man by not telling him the situation. This was supposed to be his punishment, Fisk really should say something about that. Otherwise the stranger might think that Fisk was some kind poor soul in a bad situation and deserved sympathy.

"Um... I..." He lightly scratched at a scar on the back of his hand. "I d-don't deserve to be t-treated nicely..." He didn't know how else to say it. If he tried to explain more then he'd probably end up crying again.

His heart simply ached when he had heard the fox speak. Why.... would he say such thing... He tried to control himself however, not losing his composure. The last thing that someone in such a frail state needed was for someone else to have a breakdown due to the situation they were in. Instead, Kas's gentle eyss squinted as he smiled, keeping his tone as gentle as he could.

"Even if you were a death row convict, my invitation for tea would still stand. Eating with someone is more enjoyable than eating alone. Would a sandwich be alright with the cookies? It is lunch time afterall."

The entire room was empty, the only two employes being in the kitchen- which was obviously a staff only area- and the brunette did not get all that close to the fox, giving him space for fear that he would end up startling him even further, motioning yet again towards the tables in invitation for the other to make himself comfortable.

A death row convict... That was obviously an exaggeration. But it did comfort Fisk a little bit. He slowly moved over to one of the tables and sat down at it, keeping his gaze lowered.

"I... Whatever you want to give me is fine..." He said softly. He didn't want to ask for anything specific, even though he really wanted some water. All the crying had made him very dehydrated.

No one else seemed to be around. Was this cafe even open? A sense of fear rose in his chest as he realize how suspicious this situation was. He was all alone with a stranger who was being very nice to him. Of course he didn't have too much to fear. Eric had a tiny tracking chip installed in Fisk's wedding ring, it wouldn't do much if the man took the ring but it was better than nothing.

Kas did not waste any more time as the fox did not reject the offer. Instead, he walked himself to the door marked as employes only. He was rushing, not willing to leave the frail looking man alone for long. Outside the door was a hallway that connected the cafe with a staircase leading upstairs and the kitchen. The second floor was not a place that others were allowed to enter, being the ibex's personal living space. The kitchen was of common use instead, both for personal needs and bussiness.

"Connor? Could you prepare an extra for lunch? We've got a guest."

"I always prepare an extra or two." a massive ginger with a white apron and hat laughed, already handing the ibex a tray with way too many sandwiches. He looked more like a bodyguard than a chef but he was way calmer than his wife. "You are just like the old geezer afterall. Alicia, you should help with the drinks. I will join in a minute with the cookies."

Kas could only laugh hinself and head back to the cafe with the plate of sandwiches, followed by the panther who was holding both water and a pot of tea, along with empty cups. She was a bit shaken the pitiful appearance of the fox guest but did her best not to show it.

"Hello honey." She spoke like an old woman despite her youth, placing the things she was holding in her usual manner, all 4 cups in front of each seat. "My husband and I will join in. Ah he is a lion and can seem scary but I promise he is a meek kitty." She was accustomed to introducing her husband in such manner.

"I hope you do not mind. Two more wanted to join lunch." Kason explained slowly, not giving any opportunity for mistunderstandings, placing the sandwich tray in the middle of the table, not something he would do while the cafe would be full of customers. "Please help yourself. There is no need to hold back alright?" He motioned towards everything on the table, sitting himself down and taking on a random sandwich himself, even before filling his cup with tea.

Fisk's ears flattened to his head, he didn't have the best experience with big cats in general. "Okay..." He kept his gaze down on the table, trying to make himself as small as possible. All this attention was making him even more uncomfortable.

When the sandwiches were set in front of Fisk, his stomach audibly growled. "I... A-Are you sure it's okay for me to have some..? I really don't have any money..." He finally looked up at Kason, looking for any sign that he should leave. "I-I really don't want to cause any problems for you..." His fingers moved to pick at the scar on the back of his hand, he had been picking at it so much that it was almost bleeding.

Kason looked at the fox, a small smile constantly plastered on his face, but a smile that looked a bit pained. He had noticed the way that the man was picking at the scar and he would have wanted to stop him. He really did not like to see the scared fox harm himself as if out of habit. It looked painful in more ways than one. But saying it now would not help the situation.

"Please, there are so many sandwices we cannot possibly eat them all by ourselves, you see? No one will get mad at you."

"You shouldn't worry. He will not get in any toubles. Afterall, this entire place belongs to him. And he had already decided you are a guest here. " The panther interrupted in a similar soft manner, getting up from her seat. "Should I pour you something to drink? Which would you like? Water? Or tea? Ah you can have both as well if you'd like?"

"J-just water is fine... I don't want to b-be anymore of a burden..." Fisk said quickly. Taking their sandwiches and tea would be far too much. He felt bad even asking for water. He didn't deserve this kindness, he had been thrown out of the house for a reason.

Once everyone else had taken a sandwich Fisk reached out and took one with trembling fingers. He was half expecting someone to slap his hand away and laugh at him for actually thinking he would be allowed to eat. When that didn't happen he let out a soft sigh of relief. His eyes darted between his three hosts before dropping to the table as he took a tiny nibble of the food. It still felt like a possibility that someone would start yelling at him for doing something wrong.

Hearing the response, Alicia could not help but feel like pouting. Who was the one that brought such a sweet little cinnamon roll in such a pitiful condition? She would love teaching them a lesson or two on how to treat human beings. A painful lesson to remember for the rest of their pathetic lives, so much that they would never approach the fox ever again. She was not a calm person when faced with such circumstances.

Surprisigly, it was Kas that reached out for both the water, pouring the frail looking man a glass, but also for the tea pot, pouring a full coup for him. "Sandwiches go well with tea so I really think you should give it a try as well."

Alisia was slighty surprised. The brunette seemed to be more disturbed by the man's appearance than she was herself. She knew him as a calm person, but to one that knew him well enough, he could not be described as such in this moment.

"Ah sorry for the wait." The sturdy ginger walked in with a plate of chocolate chip cookies he had just gotten out of the oven, placing them on the table as well before sitting himself down. "Feel free to help yourself to desert alright? I guarantee the taste." The man spoke cheerfully, the words clearly directed at the fox. "Ah they are still hot tho so careful."

The meal looked more and more like the type that one would have with family, withouy giving someone the impression that they were a stranger.

As Fisk stared at everything on the table he felt his eyes starting to fill with tears again. It actually felt like he was with a family for the first time in years. A soft hiccup escaped his lips and his shoulders slouched as he started to curl up in his seat. His chest hurt so much, like someone was crushing his heart.

This was the kind of meals he had always imagined having with Eric. Just the feeling of warmth and family made it so clear that his day to day life was nothing like this. A soft sob shook his body. "I... I think I should g-go..." He wiped his eyes on his sleeve and started to stand. If he stayed he'd just end up ruining these people's nice day. Besides, it just reminded him that things with Eric were nothing like what he wanted, and he only had himself to blame.

Both Alicia and Connor exchanged a glance, being a complete loss of words. What could they even say? Their hearts just tightened in their chests, a strong pritective instinct raising inside. Someone surely hurt the fox and hurt him bad, not only physically.

It was Kason however that managed to keep his composure, reaching out and patting the young man's head, a soft sigh escaping him. He was unsure if such a gesture was going to help or further scare him, but he felt the need to somehow comfort the fox.

"You do not have to leave... Instead... Would you like to speak about what happened? We do not know you so you can be sure that nothing of whatever you say is leaked." The ibex's words were carefully picked, not willing to force the other into anything he was not comfortable with.

At first Fisk flinched at the touch, expecting it to hurt. "I..." He looked up at the ibex, his eyes still filled with tears. "Okay..." He slowly sat back down, his gaze moving back to the table. He sniffled softly and wiped his eyes again.

"I d-don't even know what to say... I just... You all seem so h-happy and I don't want to ruin it" Another hiccup escaped his lips as he spoke. "I-I ruin everything else, s-so I should just leave now... Right?" He looked back up at the ibex, searching for validation. If they knew how badly he had ruined things with Eric, the person he loved more than anyone else, then they'd want him to leave.

Kas took a deep breath, continuing to gently stroke the fox's head. He did not back away so perhaps he did not find it exceedingly scary. He had no reason to be afraid, that was exactly what the man was trying to convey.

"You are not ruining anything honey." The panther spoke up warmly, her husband nodding in agreement. "What is there to ruin? We just enjoy a meal and don't do it alone." Unlike the ibex, she did not make any movement to touch the fox. Mostly because she felt it would not help if it was her hand as well. Too much affection could have the opposite effect.

"You heard her. See? No one here thinks of you that way. Why do you think so badly of yourself?... You really did nothing wrong. You should not have to be afraid." Kas laid his head on the table, his eyes looking up into the young man's, not removing his hand.

Fisk hesitantly leaned into the gentle touch. This was all he wanted, someone who would treat him nicely. He froze as the man rested his head on the table, quickly averting his eyes. "M-my husband..." His fingers moved back to his scar. "H-he's always taken care of me, and he's the one who works, a-and he's so patient with me..."

He shut his eyes tightly to hold back tears. "A-and I'm a-always messing things up... A-all I was supposed to do this morning is m-make breakfast so h-he could be ready for his meeting today..." His hands moved to cover his face, the back of his hand starting to bleed. A broken sob racked his entire body. "A-and I b-burned the p-pancakes, I-I couldn't even m-make breakfast r-right... T-the one thing I'm supposed to do.... A-And I ruined it..."

Something inside the ibex's heart just curled up and died as he listened. He was always been rather quick to understand things, and in this case, no genius was needed to understand that the said husband was abusing the fox as he pleased, gulting him into staying and not letting him realize he deserves so much better. It was horrible and saddening. He held back his tears, continuing to gently caress the young man's head. The panther on the kther hand, teared up. She threw caution to the winds, got up and hugged the fox.

"Connor. Please bring some disinfectant for the wound from upstairs. It's in the bathroom. Also the bandages. He is bleeding." The ibex issued something like an order only to get the lion away, being able to tell that the ginger had nothing but anger for the "husband". Connor got up, leaving for the employes only area.

"Hey... you know? Everyone makes mistakes... it does not make yoy bad at all... it is in out nature..." he continued, unsure of how exactly he could say to comfort him. "Today I overslept and these two had to take care of everything alone. Does that make me bad?" The brunette could only watch him.

"Honey... this comes from a stranger but... you do not deserve that over such a small thing. Really. It is not your fault at all.... It is not normal... Please just think about it. Imagine the man in front of yoy did something like that. Or my husband would have burnt the cookies. Would you get angry at them?" The woman wiped his tears, still holding him in a hug.

Fisk grew tense at the hug, but when it was clear that it wasn't going to be painful he finally let himself press into the woman's chest. "I-I... B-but..." He sobbed softly, his entire body trembling. "T-that's all I'm for, I-I just cook, and c-clean, a-and..." He trailed off, not wanting to admit how much he was pressured into sex.

"He's a-always so nice... E-even when I m-make stupid mistakes he a-always forgives me" He pulled back a little, looking up at the panther. "H-he's let me stay with him for s-so long... E-Even though we had to wait so long to g-get married because I wasn't o-old enough, he n-never cheated on me... A-and h-he made sure my p-parents didn't find me when we moved away..." He was starting to become desperate, there was no way that there was anything wrong with Eric. Fisk was always the one who made mistakes... Right..? "He's nice... He's always been so nice to me... I just m-make too many mistakes, one or two is okay but I-I make too many"

"Honey... please. Listen to me... it is not you at fault. Really. You should never accept anyone that treats you like that..." She was sobbing herself, not willing to let go. Perhaps it was because he was hitting a weak spot in her. Afterall, her father had been abusive towards both her and her mother. Meeting Connor, the old man that used to run the cafe and later on his grandson was what changed her fate. "Nothing justifies the actions of someone that hurts you, no matter in which way. Nothing at all... Not even murderers get beaten up by the police. So what have YOU done to deserve that?"

Kas took his hand back, seeming to be deep in thought. "You should listen to Alicia. At least consider it. I am not forcing you tho. But you should. Your family must be worried too you know? Their precious son disappeared and they cannot find him anywhere. How can you know it is not true if you never spoke to them?"

Probably it was a lot to consider, but the ibex felt the need to state it all. He searched the other's eyes with his own.

Fisk shook his head and tried to pull away. "T-they don't c-care about me... E-Eric said that he never saw any sign that they were even l-looking for me. T-They wouldn't let me e-even leave the house when they f-found out I was g-gay... They hated me and thought I was disgusting..." He sobbed softly and shook his head again.

"They don't want me... I'm a f-failure... I c-can't do anything right... Eric's the o-only person who can put up with me" His fingers moved back to the bleeding scar on his hand. "I d-deserve everything he does... A-and he's always nice and forgives me... He's s-so kind to me"

It was only obvious that the words would not get to him. He, who knew nothing but abuse in both family and relationship.... how could he react in any other way. The way they were addressing things was wrong.

Alisia said nothing more but did not let go. She was the very emotional type afterall. That was one long hug.

Kas got up, no longer adressing the subject directly. He got on his knees, only so he could gently grab hold of both of the fox's hands, only to prevent him from further injurying himself. The way he held his hands were as if he was holding something incredibly delicate that could break with one careless touch.

"You are not a failure." His words were incredibly soft. "Sorry. We came on too strong. But you truly are not a failure. You, are constantly doing your best are you not? You cannot call someone like that a failure, no matter the mistakes they make or their sexual preference. Would you look at a someone else and tell them that if they did the same things you do? What if your husband's role and yours were reversed. Would you act the same as he does? Ah- You do not need to answer me. Just think about it alright? But for now, I really want you to stop picking at the scar and eat a little. Can you do that?"

It was then that with his gaze, Kas told the panther to let him go. She reluctantly sat back up on her chair, her eyes puffy as she tried not to sob. Connor would have to deal with that.

Fisk hiccuped softly, weakly shaking his head one more time. "Eric takes care of me.." He whimpered. His hands hesitantly moved to hold onto Kas. The ibex's gentle touch was so comforting... He never wanted to let go. "H-he's nice... Really nice... He protects me from bad people... S-so, even if he hurts me sometimes it's okay..."

It was clear that the fox was just trying to convince himself at this point. He couldn't doubt Eric, if he doubted his husband then his whole life would fall apart. Even though deep down he knew these people were probably right, they really seemed to be worried about his. But if he did believe that Eric was a bad person then what would he do? It would just make his life more painful.

Fisk slowly sat down again, sniffling and trying to stop the tears. "He's nice... Y-you just don't know him... You haven't m-met him"

The panther was slightly taken aback while observing the owner. She could somehow see the old man in his actions, and her tears stopped as she blinked and tried to regain composure. All along, she had not been crying for herself but rather the fox. But again. What would her tears even do? How would it help?

It was then that Connor finally returned with more than Kason asked for, but obviously well thought choices. Cotton, tweezers, different types of bandages and a mild disinfectant were the exact items placted on the table for the ibex to use. He did not hesistate, freeing his right hand only, just so he could apply the disinfectant with the cotton pad, only to ensure it would not end up getting infected. He did not ask for permission. Even if the fox did not want to allow him to do it, he would not listen. The wound needed to get cleaned, even if it stung.

"It is true. I do not know him but... more importantly. Are you happy?" He spoke up as he dabbed on the wound several times, removing the blood.
