Morirp
Heavy... The weight of a past life was just so... Heavy. Hosoke listened, to all of it, without interrupting Nereus. He didn't even notice his body was wearing out. Tired. Slowly the memories of what was before them came back. Nereus, his death, their love... the betrayer. He didn't even notice his mind was starting to get foggy. He didn't want to believe the story, or the mermaid tail, but he couldn't help but know in an ancient part of his mind that Nereus wasn't lying. Not about any of it. Fear This was why he'd been terrified, angry with the other male, just from laying eyes on him. The love was there though, and the sadness that caught his breath. A memory of their first union was the only complete memory that came back and Hosoke felt as though he couldn't breathe. There had been both their families, it was on a secluded island surrounded by the converging ocean currents. His deep eyes became glassy and distant. It was then that Hosoke tried to speak, but nothing came out. Nothing but a whimper. He remembered the stories his grandparents told him of their first trip to Hawaii, how the Japanese loved the Polynesian islands and the people that lived there. He couldn't help but wonder if his grandparents had some ancient connection to his past life. If they had brought his soul back, wandering and alone with them in the form of the child that would become his parent who passed it on to him. It would explain why he didn't particularly look like any of his family. It was speculation though. Tears streamed from his eyes, and without warning his body, weary from the news; his mind, exhausted with new memories... they both just... gave out. Hosoke wouldn't remember what happened next, his eyes would glass over, and his body would stop moving. Giving into the gentle rocking of the ocean. He couldn't find a reason in his troubled mind to keep swimming anymore. His lover was there, refusing to touch him. His murderer was there, confessing his sins. The ocean was a church, a holy body that he could no longer deny. His body sank below the waves, the breath escaping him as he took in a mouthful of seawater. It was so peaceful under the waves. Glistening like stained glass. Gentle rocking surrounded him, like he was being held for the first time. Like he was home. This is where his soul wanted to rest. This was why he'd made the flight all the way back to Hawaii where he'd once lived in peace. His soul didn't want to keep living, he understood now that the overwhelming sadness was just because it wanted to return to the only place it had known happiness. He was so tired now that he was home, everything was just so peaceful... So... Black And with the last thoughts of being cradled by the waves Hosoke's mind went blank, and he passed out. Time_Keeper
Seeing his eyes glaze over at an alarming speed, Nereus dipped his tail back under the surface of the water to propel himself forward in what seemed to be perfect timing. Not a moment later, it seemed that Hosoke's mind and body gave out and his precious human sank under the surface of the waves. Fear clogged Nereus's heart and lungs for a moment before instincts took over and quicker than he had ever moved, he dove under the ocean waves to save the other man. Powerfully moving his tail up and down, it didn't take him long to reach Hosoke and though he still had his reservations on touching the human. Of dirtying him again with hands that had killed him before...Nereus pushed his nervousness to the back of his mind in order to save a life he had once foolishly caused to be extinguished. Gently wrapping his arms around the human, the King gathered the man lovingly in his arms before turning the angle of his body to swim them back up towards the surface of the ocean. He couldn't bare to lose Hosoke again, at least not to death and not in his ocean. If Hosoke hated him after he awaits and remembered everything Nereus had told him, then the blue finned merman could understand and back off.....but as long as Hosoke was alive and well somewhere....even if it was far away from him, then that was all that mattered. Hosoke deserved at least that much. Breaching the surface of the ocean, Nereus pushed Hosoke's head above the water before looking him over with concerned eyes. He could feel the rise and fall of the man's chest against his, he could hear his heartbeat...what alarmed him was how quickly Hosoke's mind had shut down once the truth had been revealed. "My love....I am so...so very sorry" Nereus murmured softly, blinking back the tears that clouded his eyes and blurred his vision momentarily. Pressing his forehead gently against he unconscious man's forehead, Nereus allowed himself a moment to acknowledge that the human he had once lost was back in his arms again. "Please, I hope one day you will be able to forgive me. And I hope you never doubt the love I have always had for you....I will always love you, even if you wish for nothing but my own misery now that you know the truth" he whispered through the sound of his own sorrow. Shifting the human briefly in his arms to safely cradle the man against his chest, Nereus began the swim towards the beach. He knew he couldn't afford to be seen in the form he was but he didn't just want to leave Hosoke dumped on the beach as if he meant nothing. Making sure to keep the man's head safely above the water as he swam over the surface of the ocean, Nereus headed towards the only location he knew would keep the man safe and would not be alarmed by his appearance. The tribe Auli and her brother belonged to had always been near and dear to the people who resided under the ocean waves, he knew they would keep Hosoke safe until he woke up. Especially the siblings grandmother, a woman who had hands down claimed the title of Nereus closest human friend. It wasn't long until he arrived at the small island off the main land that the tribe claimed as their own. It took even a shorter time to have several of the men in the tribe to spot him and come rushing over to assist him. Once Hosoke was safely in one of their arms, Nereus lifted his body from the shallow water and allowed the change to take over him. Absentmindedly, he accepted a towel handed to him to cover up before following after the man who gently deposited Hosoke in Willow's house. It was only when he reassured himself that Hosoke was safe and comfortable, did Nereus leave the man's side briefly to change into cloths. Listening to Willow amble around her house to get some tea ready for when Hosoke woke up, Nereus silently settled on a chair in a shadowed corner of the room while he watched his former mate sleep.
