Yukio Takamiya
Name: Qiang Feng (强风) (means 'Great Wind') Age: Existed since ancient times Gender: Male Race: Water Dragon Abilities: Water, Rain, Flight Description: In human form, he possesses straight black hair, brown eyes and pale skin as well as donning pure white robes. As a dragon, green scales cover his body and he sports two horns above his head. His body covers 180 metres in width and 2 kilometres in length. Likes: Peace and quiet, reading, swimming and though he rarely ever does, coming out to the surface. Dislikes: Fire or any form of heat and the arrogant octopus at the bottom of the sea. Personality: Pretty dormant if no one flips his switch. Back where he lives, most creatures left him alone and so did he so he never really had the chance to get angry. He isn't easily angered either. Most of the time, others may find him staring of into space thinking about one thing or another. Other times, he would be found somewhere on the ocean grounds reading a scroll or two. Short bio: Life was pretty swell for him if he had to admit it. Except for the time of the ten suns, he was pretty much free to do whatever he wanted. Rain came often in the recent decades and there wasn't really any need for him for him to bring it. Qiang Feng is most often known by others as the thirteenth prince of the eastern ocean. As such, he and his many brothers are expected to compete for the throne. Except that he wasn't interested in such trivial matters. Already two of his brothers had died in competition for the throne and he wasn't interested in joining them. Though it couldn't be said for sure that he wouldn't be targetted by any of his remaining brothers. ------------------------------------------------------ Opening post: Qiang Feng opened his eyes for fourth time since arriving in this godforsaken place. He had been falling in and out of consciousness repeatedly from the anestetics injected in his body, too weak to even attempt to escape. Not that he didn't try of course. The chains bounding his body to the table was made of really strong alloy that wouldn't break even if he tried to shift into his larger form. They only succeeded in cutting into his skin when he tried too hard, letting out some of the golden blood within his body. Qiang Feng breathed heavily against his restraints, thinking of the time he was captured and regretting for the first time when it came to visiting the surface. Though he couldn't exactly be blamed. Unfortunate circumstances forced him to reveal his form above the surface. ----------------------- It started the day before when an attack was sneaked on him. Qiang Feng had been relaxing as usual in the ocean square when a group of smaller dragons were seen heading for him. At first, he paid them no mind, thinking that perhaps his brothers were going to fight again. He never took part in vying for the throne and all his brothers knew that, thus left him alone and he expected that this time would be the same. Little did he know that they were headed for him until they got close enough to alarm him. Qiang Feng backed away from the troops cautiously, stopping when the group parted to let someone through. A single majestic figure floated through the path created for him and revealed himself to be the fourth prince of the eastern ocean. "Fourth brother, what is the meaning of this?" Qiang Feng asked with a glare The fourth prince, Qiang Long gestured to his troops. "It's as you see little brother. I'm here to reduce my competition by killing you." At this, Qiang Feng paused. He didn't know why his brother was suddenly coming after him after so long. "I'm pretty sure I made myself clear that I have no interest in the throne," he reasoned. Qiang Long let out a humorless laugh and pointed his spear at Qiang Feng. "You seem to think that I'm stupid thirteenth brother. You intend to wait for us to kill each other before getting rid of the surviving brother while he is weakened. If it weren't for your servant who told me, I would never have known how cunning you were." Qiang Long then have his order for the troops to attack. Qiang Feng who knew that his brother wouldn't believe whatever he said, changed into a large magnificent dragon and fought off his attackers. Jaws came in from all directions and Qiang Feng hit them all away with force. With various swings of his long body, he created violent backlashes of currents that threw his opponents left and right. The dragon troops weren't considered to be strong in his eyes and he defeated the majority until his brother threw him a surprise attack. In a normal spar, Qiang Feng would have won against Qiang Long but in this case, the troops were used to distract him while Qiang Long dealt the fatal blow. With a roar, the fourth prince's jaws clamped down on the bottom part of his neck. Qiang Feng wasted no time in breaking free and moved to escape. His immortal blood left a diffusing trail in the water as he swam as fast as he could. Behind him, his brother and the remaining troops were catching up fast. Qiang Feng threw another torrent of waves at them before he finally broke out of the surface. His brother gave no more chase and the troops couldn't leave the water. Qiang Feng hovered in the air, shifred back to his human form flew weakly towards the North, his brother's voice resounding in his head. 'Escaping to the surface is going to be the biggest mistake of your life. Humans now are even more ruthless than us. Your death on the surface is sure to be long and painful. Seems like I won't have to dirty my hands after all.' Qiang Feng hadn't visited the surface since over a century ago. He didn't know the ruthlessness his brother spoke of and thought that the surface would be better than going back to the ocean no matter what. The humans of the past worshipped dragons as deities who gave them water, the living element, since everything needed water to survive. Qiang Feng had no idea that such believes changed with time and that humans grew so strong on their own.... Until he felt the sharp searing pain in his shoulder blade. Immediately after that, his body grew even weaker than it already was and crashed into the sea. Something shot him, some kind of poison that depleted his strength. He couldn't transform and his body wouldn't move so that he could go deeper under water. From the distance, he heard loud sounds approaching his body that was drifting with the currents. Hands grabbed at his robes and arms then pulled him up onto a weird vehicle. Qiang Feng could vaguely hear voices and registered them to be,"so they really exist, I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen him transform by myself." Then another voice," at least we didn't have to worry about transport a large dragon. Good thing he was too weak to maintain his form." Then a third," seems that the higher ups were right, this trip wasn't wasted." Qiang Feng couldn't make out anything else and blacked out. ------------------------------- And that led him to where he was now. He had been captured by humans. Humans! Whom had once worshipped him and weeped in happiness if they ever had the chance to gaze upon him even once. They gave him offerings every single day in thanks for the rain he brought during the drought caused by the ten suns. How they've changed now. No longer did they believe in deities, knowledge was what they believed in. Qiang Feng heard them speaking about experiments and such which led him to this conclusion. Sighing, Qiang Feng closed his eyes and drifted off once more.
Rumpleteaser
Gōngsūn Xuan Name: Xuan Gōngsūn (公孫) meaning Duke's descendant Age: 29 years old Race: Chinese human from Nanjing in Jiangsu Province Abilities: No known magical or supernatural abilities Description: Xuan has dark brown hair and gold-brown eyes. His mother had golden eyes too, a trait that goes back many generations. He doesn’t know what it means as most people have black or dark brown eyes, but doesn’t put much stock in it. It’s a mere mutation or oddity in his opinion. He doesn’t like the stories his mother seems to make up about their eyes. He doesn’t like a lot of her stories and superstitions. The human has a lithe, toned build with light skin as he rarely goes out in the sun. He has a tribal tattoo on his left shoulder and wears a bead necklace his mother gave him for “protection”. He doesn’t put any store in it but wears it for her. He likes to keep his fringe long and his hair in a long, low ponytail. He only really puts it up in a chignon when he has work so he can put a medical cap over it. Likes: Quiet situations, something to pay attention too, walking in the rain, moderate indulgences. Dislikes: Crowds, excited people, distraction, laziness, anything excessive, talkative people, superstitions, folklore. Personality: People are starting to wonder about Dr Gōngsūn. He’s always polite but what is he really thinking? Does he even like women? Does he have any interests outside work and the working holidays he goes on? He seems to like those komodo dragons, monitors and goannas he researches than humans. Biography: Gōngsūn Xuan was born to Gōngsūn Shang and Tan Yin twenty-eight years ago. His father is a well respected and influential pathologist specialising in the removal of tumours, cysts and fibrosis. He always wanted his son to become a medical professional too and started encouraging him from an early age. Xuan was taught to read and write in Latin by the time he was ten years old so he could understand medical text books. He had several private tutors that took up any time he could have spent being a normal child. He learned the parts of the body rather than the names of animals and coloured in anatomical sheets rather than drawing pictures of his home and family. A lot of study was pushed into a few short years and Xuan became the youngest person to graduate from a medical degree in his university. He his masters as a surgeon, completed a massive postgraduate project then finally finished his studies with an internship at the leading private hospital. It meant he had to travel a lot from Jiangsu and had very little time to do anything else. Everyone thought he would burn out by the end of his studies. Luckily, he didn’t need a job because his father was willing to sponsor him through the next five years until he took his place in society. That was when Dr Gōngsūn took his first holiday to Indonesia. It was a working holiday and work experience rather than spending time around Bali, Java and Sumatra. He worked in smaller villages as a doctor and surgeon where people didn’t have the facilities to go to the major cities to hospital. While there, he got his first glimpse of komodo dragons. Using his family’s finances, he was able to purchase one and have a station setup at his work to dissect it. He was fascinated by its internal workings and soon spent many of his holidays around the world purchasing such animals for his personal curiosity. It was a strange habit for someone of such a high position to have but he was respected enough for people to accept it. People expect great things from him and the projects he undertakes. He is very much one of the up and coming professionals in the medical industry.
Rumpleteaser
Why did humans always have to make up stories? What was the need to create fantasies when the truth was far more fascinating and involved? His mother had been like that, telling him stories about the Yellow River when he just wanted to know where the river came from. He’d never listened to her stories. He loved her dearly but not the tales she tried to teach him. She seemed to think it was part of who he was, part of their culture and part of their history. Xuan didn’t think it was part of who they were though. Who they were changed over time and the modern era no longer needed superstition or folklore. Xuan was much like his father in that regard. He liked to know how systems were put together and how things worked. He didn’t particularly like all the study he’d been forced to do but he now understood it was to get a better standing in life. His childhood had not been wasted and as a result he had a better adulthood. He was a more functional, useful and interesting human being. I --- The lights glared white, terrifying the shadows and restricting them to the very corners of the room. They burned the eyes if looking directly into them, thus many of the people present inside the room and in the observation room had shaded goggles. The entire room was bathed in sterile, white light that illuminated every metal instrument in the eyes of the many cameras. Every breath Qiang Feng took, every movement Doctor Gōngsūn Xuan made and every computerised sound the machines made were being recorded. Everything had to be documented and kept for review. Everything had to be accounted for. Xuǎn had to be accountable for every action he took. The doctor ignored the people standing in the observation room set up beside the largest of the Little Flower Hospital’s auditoriums. He only kept his mind on the machines, the other doctors attending him and of course the patient on the bed in front of him. He still didn’t believe the creature was a dragon but belief had no part in what he was doing. ‘I am now stitching up the chest dissection. The subject appears to be healing up the wounds at the same speed at which I stitch them,’ he said as he closed the incisions he’d made earlier. Doctor Xuǎn had, at the request of his superiors, cut open the chest and abdomen to inspect the internal organs of the person. It had been quite tricky, as they had needed to increase the surgical anaesthesia no less than eight times during the procedure because the subject had come close to waking despite the increasing dosages. The machines monitoring him had displayed heart rate, breathing rate and other levels that implied the subject had entered a waking stater. Even if the subject did wake though, it would still be in a deluded, daydream-like state from the nitrous oxide being pumped into its lungs. Even then, it was chained to the bed in case the subject was immune to such drugs. ‘Doctor Ling, swab the incisions and remove the tape,’ Xuǎn ordered. He removed his nitrile gloves to put on a fresh pair. ‘Doctor Chen, how many organ biopsies do we have?’ he asked. ’34.’ ‘That will have to do for now,’ Xuǎn replied. The subject was riddled with enough holes for now. He’d been poked, prodded and drained of enough blood to kill any normal human. It was a great risk to do so much to the subject at once but the men in charge of the project wanted results and their investors wanted some of that golden blood. Gold was precious and the preliminary set of tests had proved the stuff to be pure. The life monitor began to beep. The head doctor turned around to see the heart rate had gone up enough to be considered conscious, as had the other levels. ‘Quick, Chen, increase the medazolan and thiopental,’ he ordered. Medaxolan and thiopental were the two intravenous general anasthetics used to keep the subject unconscious and oblivious to all stimulus, including pain. The medaxolan was long acting and the thiopental was an extra short acting shot used each time the subject came close to rousing. The subject now had a lot of both running through his body but he seemed almost immune to everything else they’d tried. He now had a concoction coursing through his golden veins that would have killed any other man.
Yukio Takamiya
Qiang Feng didn't know how much time had passed when consciousness came to him once more. The restrains reminded him of his current predicament but his thoughts were else where. Who maligned him...his servant? Qiang Feng only thought of his home. He had never partake in any of his brother's squabbles so why would someone under him try to harm him? Qiang Feng's mess of thoughts brought him to one conclusion. The Eastern ocean was in danger. Someone or perhaps a group wanted the royals to fall. But the remaining brother who wouldn't eventually die because he wasn't in the competition, was in the way. Which means that this 'servant' of his came from somewhere else. Qiang Feng needed to go back to warn his father... It was then that he felt the familiar feeling of the unknown substance entering his body once more. No! He couldn't fall asleep again...he needed more time to think! Qiang Feng willed his body to move but only his hand managed to twitch. His mind was fading out again but he really didn't want to black out. With that thought, Qiang Feng summoned the strength to bite down hard on his tongue. Nothing better than pain to wake him up. His mind cleared significantly and Qiang Feng started to thrash. Weakened he may be, but he was still a great dragon. His movements caused the bed to shake, his mouth opened to let out a deafening roar, giving him the momentum to struggle more against his chains. These metals were so strong...why? Amidst his struggling, his mouth bit onto a tube that was attached to a needle lodged in his arm. Giving it a pull, the needle came out. At least he felt that was how the unknown substance was entering his body. It simply wouldn't do for it to continue weakening him. "Release me at once!" He managed to growl out, his voice masked by anger, didn't sound human. He tensed his body once more, struggling to break the chains but they didn't budge. If he had been at his peak condition, they wouldn't have held out against him at all. The humans depleted his strength using that substance, the best he could do now was to keep them away from his until the effects wore off. Qiang Feng breathed heavily against his restraints, snarling at anyone who dared to come close. The humans had changed so much in the past century that Qiang Feng almost didn't believe they were once helpless and needed protection. In fact, they had advanced so much to be able to subdue one as great as himself. If Qiang Feng had visited the surface regularly, he would have known how to avoid unnecessary danger. His fourth brother's words replayed in his head and Qiang Feng knew now how right they were. He had thought that the surface would be safer. But nothing was worse than not knowing what went on around him. These people may kill him eventually and he wouldn't even know. Thinking of it made him shudder. Coming back to the current situation, Qiang Feng tried not to exhaust himself, occasionally growling and shaking the bed whenever anyone came close. But there was one who hadn't yet tried...the human whom, if he wasn't wrong, had been the one touching him. Qiang Feng was cautious of this man the most, seeing how he felt different from the others. Rumpleteaser
‘He’s gaining consciousness,’ the doctor stated. ‘Damnit, people. Get a needle in him.’ The doctor hurriedly slapped off his gloves, threw them in the biological waste disposal and whipped over to the drawer to grab a syringe and a vial of liquid. The needle pierced through the lid of the vial and sucked up the entire contents. The doctor was taking no chances with a potentially dangerous patient. He prepared the syringe, getting out any air bubbles, then marched straight over to the struggling “dragon”. "Release me at once!" the man roared. It did not sound human. ‘Doctor Ling, take that drip line out of his mouth and place a wad of gaze in there.’ ‘Hold his head still. I’m ready to inject,’ the doctor commanded. Instead of aiming for the subject’s neck, however, he buried the long needle all the way into his shoulder. Within a second the subject was pumped full of some substance strong enough to kill an elephant. It was a last-ditch effort to make sure nobody was in danger of the creature’s great strength. The only problem was they had to be careful not to kill the patient in the process. ‘Watch his vitals. Get the defibrillator ready in case we lose him. Dr Jiang, pass me a flashlight,’ he ordered. ‘Hold him steady. Brace his neck if you have to.’ The doctor tossed the syringe and vial into the sharps disposal and held out his hand expectantly. With the little torch in hand, the doctor came over and took hold of the patient’s upper eyelid. He pulled it back, shone the light into the man’s eye then flicked it away. He then tried again with the other eye before going back to the first. ‘What’s his heartrate, Dr Chen?’ Dr Gōngsūn asked. ‘That’s too high. He’s going to go into cardiac arrest if it doesn’t drop.’ ‘Look at me, patient. Look at me,’ he ordered. He put his hand on that strong chin and gripped it hard. He didn’t have the strength to stop the man thrashing but he was determined to hold onto the man’s chin and make him look. ‘You are in Little Flower Hospital. My name is Doctor Gōngsūn Xuǎn. I need you to relax and focus on your breathing. You’re going to go into cardiac arrest if you keep this up.’
