They'd been here before. When the mighty battleship landed once more on the only landing port in all of planet Earth. The Galax was a mighty beast who had created her own stories of the world beyond the clouds. She'd fought in many wars with several of her sister ships following close behind. She'd protected her people from within her belly and had attacked along side the winged ships she let forth from under her own wings. However, there were times even the great Galax lost her battles. She would suffer great wounds, holes in her belly, her wings clipped and crippled. Her sister ships lost to the enemy and her people lost in the sea of darkness.

Like those times, she had returned to Earth to start a new. She would be reborn and strengthened and soon she'd take flight once more. Her commanders and captains would find their way to her again with crews hand picked to fight along side her. And just like before, that's where she was now.

The Galax had returned just three days ago at the port and Captain Jaye Dasdan was standing at attention with the rest of his crew as the say their final farewell to a comrade lost in battle. Right Wing Gunner, private Jason Toretch had been killed as he fought hard against the enemy. He had found his way in front of an enemy blast as he defended his comrade from the fire. His family stood before them, sullen, quiet, crying the tears Jaye always hated seeing. He hated watching as family members of his fallen brothers and sisters grieve for them.

After the funeral services Jaye and his crew would return to the hotel where they were staying. They would spend a day to themselves before going out the next day to begin looking for a new crew member. They would be given dirty looks by mothers and fathers, stargazed looks by children who didn't know what war was, respected looks by veterans who had fought their time. Jaye would hold his head strong through it all. For if he didn't, he would never be able to call himself captain. He would lose the respect of his crew quicker then he could say goodbye. Today he would look for a new crew member to train during the time the Galax is restored. So that by the time they return to space, they would be trained efficiently for the coming wars.

After hearing about the opening available he used every connection he had to try to get onto this ship. Being the hothead he was Private Riley "Chase" Duncan, always fought for what he wanted. He became obsessed at a young age to travel through space. Pushing his mind and body to the limits he was able to come from a little family of nearly nothing to this.

Of course it was sad to loose a team member but it presented an opportunity for him. It's not like he was heartless, just calculating. Some of his social skills needed some serious work but he managed fine. He got known in his classes as "Chase" because he liked the chase. Through the simulations he could quickly figure out where the enemy was hiding or which direction they would come from, chase them down and take them out.

At the ripe age of twenty six he was ready and more than willing to go wherever he was needed to go. Excitement filled him as he made his way to the meeting spot. At least he hoped it was the right spot. In his blue graduating uniform he searched for his meeting spot. So far he hadn't received his next uniform, so he stuck out like a sore thumb in the room. Glancing down at the paper he frowned hoping this was the right spot, it seemed to be.

Dasdan had been asked to check in the new recruits, fresh out of school. He sighed inwardly, he wasn't planning on checking in new recruits. In fact he was hoping to find a new comrade member through more experienced fighters, soldiers. Fresh meat just out of school wasn't what he had in mind.

But he wouldn't say no to his own superiors. They asked him for good reasons, or because everyone else had said no before him. He opened up the files he held in hand as he made his way to the meeting place. There were originally a total of twenty recruits. However half of the dropped out during the classes themselves. Therefore there was only ten recruits who graduated and were waiting for Jaye to show up.

One recruit, Private Riley Duncan had exceptional results. He wasn't better then the other recruits, in fact they were all fairly equal to each other. However there were slight spikes in his reports that showed a higher grade then the others did.

Jaye paused at the double open doors to the building in which he would introduce himself. The file he looked at now had certainly caught his interest. His skills were average, but he showed an exceptional dedication to chase and get the job done. Closing the files he opened the doors and stepped inside. He made his way down the hallways towards the open room where the recruits were waiting. He pushed open the doors and stepped forward. In his low, rough Captain like voice he called out. "Stand in recruits!" As he said that the recruits formed a straight line in front of him.

Around the room he noticed the other similarly dressed men. So he was in the right spot! Smirking he looked around at when might be his competition or new comrades. One guy he knew from school that drove him crazy. He always tried to stand the tallest and be the loudest to be heard. Yeah, Riley came across things in a different fashion, which also explained all the tattoos which were hidden under his uniform.

Hearing the booming voice he got into line at the end and stood a little further from the man next to him then the others. His body stood at attention like he should and rehearsed but his head tilted out a little so he could see who it was.

Captain Jaye Dasdan, he'd read about him before. Excellent Captain. There were of course some he heard about more than others but this man struck him as interesting. He just seemed so textbook Captain in person. His hair just right, standing tall and uniform perfect. He couldn't help the smirk that came over his face, but was he really all that perfect?

The recruits stood in line faster then he expected them too. This crop already sporting more reliance then the last. Such a sad group really. But with the right training, they were nearly unstoppable. In fact, one in particular that Jaye himself trained went on to lead a small troop on enemy territory down on another planet.

This group he hoped would fare better quicker. He recalled all ten of the recruits he'd just quickly read up on on his way here. Well built, hair trimmed and out of face, no visible marks that would cause the superiors to lash out on.

Jaye didn't care if they sported a tattoo or two during down times. But when it came to looking smart in there uniform, it was out of the question. There was one taller then the rest, more built, rugged. The Galax always needed heavier men like that to lift around some of the weight.

"Alright recruits, today's the day you step that much closer to becoming a soldier. You e graduated your classes. All with highly exceptional marks. However, it's time you show us if any of your training has meant anything. Starting tomorrow you will be assigned to three man teams, including your superior. You will be allowed access to fighter jets and ran through courses similar to the simulations." He stopped and walked past each recruit staring them down. He stopped at Private Riley. "However this isn't a simulator. One wrong move and you can destroy the fighter, injure yourself and team." He made sure to leave out the 'or worse' part. He was sure they all knew.

"Your grades on this course will determine the secs in which you will be placed. Some of you might end up in the same. One of you might end up in a whole different sec then the others." He'd remember the very first time he'd been split apart from his classmates as he was the only one chosen on a lower graded team. He always was a troublemaker and could care less about how well he did. But after his experience in battle first hand, he soon learned that his skills were necessary to his teammates and the rest of the Galax crews.

Sighing softly Chase hated having to prove himself again and again. He felt he'd already proven enough, he was even stationed on a grounded ship for a while to learn from that Captain for a bit. Why were they taking them through all these steps still?

Irritated now the raven looked off across the square and out the window. This building was a tall one within the city and at the right time of day or night you could see the moon base peaking over the horizon. How he couldn't wait to be out there.

Once the Captain was done speaking the men saluted him. Chase did as well but it was half-hearted, he really just wanted a chance to speak with him. Waiting a moment for the men to go and collect what paperwork they would need he quickly approached the Captain.

"Captain Jaye Dasdan?" Chase stood tall before him, he didn't want to look sloppy now in this mans direct attention. "Private Riley Duncan. I was under the impression sir that this would be more of an interview situation. I thought there was a pressing matter and this." He gestured to the other men. "Is just going to waste valuable time. We've already done our training. Either we're ready to join or they're not." He tried to choose his words carefully but his hotheaded nature made his Irish accent show through sometimes. At the moment though he was able to keep it from being too heavy.

Jaye had the paperwork on hand, so when he finished his speech the recruits managed to collect the paperwork from him before leaving the building entirely. He was just about to close the file, thinking that was everyone until his name was called out. He looked up from the files and found one of the recruits still here. The other spoke in an irritated manner, not strong like he'd heard countless times before. But it was still enough that Jaye understood it. He didn't speak for a minute after Riley spoke and then sighed. He pulled out the paperwork and handed it to him as he answered his concerns.

"This is the final training that all new soldiers go through. It's not about skills or your understanding of what we do. It's how well you can work with a team. While in actual movement. The simulators help you learn teamwork, but physically your bodies aren't being pressured by the real surroundings of what's going on around you." He waited a minute to make sure the other knew exactly what he was getting to. "You will be distracted, and if you can't concentrate on the task at hand while these distractions are going on. Then the Galax doesn't need soldiers who can't fight in war."

He wasn't trying to scare off the recruit or sound to intimidating. His German demeanor just made him that way. When he was a recruit it was this test that finally woke him up. In his laziness, he nearly killed another recruit for not wanting to pay attention to his own teammate. It had left a scar on him where he swore never to let a teammate down again. Although it took a long while before anyone was willing to pair up with him again. Even the teammate at the time, now a captain of his own crew, still holds a small grudge till this day.

Chase listened to him but he still wasn't happy with this response at first. Of course on paper he looked good, but his only real experience had been an attack on the city where he'd helped save some people from a burning building but he didn't look at that as anything special. It was a bad situation and he reacted like how he believed anyone would. But maybe that wasn't true.

At his last comment a delicate brow rose on his face, "Distracted eh?" He glanced down at the papers he was handed. "I reckon this would be the real test then... real situation to test reactions. Although it's still considered training, so how will 'real' be simulated?"

Those light amber eyes trailed back up to look at the Captain. There was almost a fire behind them, determination that was for sure. Chase was quite the spit fire and enjoyed a good challenge, and this challenge certainly got his heart pumping faster. The question now would be what kind of test and how long would it take before he made it out of there and into the Captain's ship.

Little did they know but entering the solar system was a large fleet. Giant ships were on their way to Earth preparing for their sneak attack. These aliens had a score to settle with the humans after they took over one of their outposts without realizing what they'd done. By sending that small group of human men to their solar-systems smallest moon and taking out their guards they started a war.

The leader of this group stood before the windows of his ship looking out into the dark abyss. One of the men who'd been killed was his son, he couldn't stand by and just forgive him. Protocols had to be followed. His almost bug like appearance made him not look human, even though he stood on two legs and had two hands. Sighing heavily he knew what was about to come.

"General Braket, we'll be to Earth in twenty either hours, by Earth standard we'll reach them by sunset," the second in command told him, whom was the same type of creature he was.

Jaye watched the other before him. Had it been any of the other recruits, Jaye would probably had left them in the dust and never explained this training to them in the first place. But it was what he saw in the riches of this recruits ambers eyes that had him explaining himself. His intense gaze, whether purposeful or not, intrigued the Captain far more then he cared to admit.

"You've done them before, on a computer. You rationalize what weapons you have, what fighters your using, who your enemy and friend are. However, if you lost a wing to your fighter the simulation ended and your grade dropped. This time is different. You move with the ship, not a computer, with your teammates, not a computer. One wrong move and your career can come to an end with the Galax fleet." Jaye hated to admit that this exercise was a poor choice, but it was literally the closest thing they could think of before actually placing their recruits in front of the enemy first hand. Jaye would be there assisting.

"Your results on paper are superb soldier, I have to admit. However, show me how you can read the situation while other things are happening all at once. Read your teammates mind, your enemies. You must feel the heart and soul of your fighter as she beats in time with yours. That! Is what this training will show us. And if you pass, then we welcome you upon the Galax." Though it was small, literally a play at the corner of his lips, Jaye managed a smile to the recruit. It wasn't mocking, it was entirely genuine. And the only way anyone would have been able to tell was by looking into the brown of his eyes.

Back on the Galax and the main port on Earth, high numbers of readings nearing the solar system was broadcasting throughout the systems. It was still far away enough, where they couldn't quite make out what it was. However, officials could tell at the least, that it was large and greatly numbered. Higher ups were beginning to get word of it, and soon they were sending word to everyone else. It was possibly an hour after their findings that Jaye received the message from a messenger.

Interrupting their conversation, the messenger pulled Jaye aside and told him. It was then Jaye's eyes flashed cold and looked over towards Riley. "Dismissed soldier. Return to the recruit barracks right away." With no other word, he and the messenger left he building in a hurry, leaving Riley alone before he had excused himself.

Chase listened to his every word, taking them in. This is what he'd been missing. The thrill. Maybe that was the wrong choice in words to explain the rush he'd feel within battle. Of course he understood people lives were at stake, but sometimes the right answer wasn't always the best answer. Early on in training he accepted the fact that you can't always save everyone but that wasn't how his superiors saw it.

When he noticed the small smile he couldn't help but smile back at him, but much more visibly than the Captain, "When I pass." He was cocky sure, but incredibly determined. He never claimed to be the best but where he felt he lacked in being the best he gave his all. Some of the other men lacked that drive to keep going. He broke down once after a training scenario but ever since then he pushed himself to become better. He never spoke to anyone about it for fear they'd use it against him. Now that it was all down to 1's and 0's he was REALLY glad no one knew.

Blinking he was surprised at the sudden leave and felt the adrenaline in the room. Something bad was happening. Quickly heading back to the barracks he needed to find out what was going on.

The fleets were moving quickly towards them and the entire planet was on high alert. Mars' outpost was already forwarding messages about the fleet passing by them. Then most reports came in about ships landing and attacking their base.

Over a vid com a bloody man came into the shot, "thhh---- ere's thousands of t-ththt-em! D-DDDDDD--- Don't let----" The video cut to static for nearly a whole three seconds then came back with the same man. "Send HELP!ARGH!!!!" The man was shot dead. The only other thing you could see before the video blacked out was a hand reaching into view crushing the camera.

It was truly the worst possible day for things to go wrong. The Galax was still immobile and his crew was still missing a member. Jaye clicked his tongue as he and the messenger burst through the Earths outpost in time to see the last seconds of the video that had just come through. "What the hell was that!?" He demanded to the crew who had accepted the message. A woman, about four feet three inches stood from her station and saluted him. "Sir! That was mars sir! Enemy ships have attacked the outpost." Another shot up, an older man, maybe in his forties. "By the looks of the message sir I'd say we may have lost the mars outpost."

Jaye's fists clenched impossibly tighter. He knew that the superior officers had already seen this message and were now coming up with a plan. But with the Galax out they would be relying on her sister ships and all the fighters they can scavenge up.

The previous battle had been rough on them. They had suffered many deaths, large numbers of injured and had lost about half their fighting power. With that knowledge the only thing they could do was to intercept the enemy fleet out in space itself. It would be the only way to even possibly think of saving the citizens.

"Start the sirens. We need to inform people to get to their safety houses! Send a message to all the sister ships! Inform them that we are going to need their assistance! Relay this also to the Galax offices, the superiors need to know about it!" He took in a big breath before letting out in his low voice, "get everyone from the fleets who can still fly to get on a fighter and ready themselves!!"

With that he left, he himself was going to head straight for the Galax, but instead he made a B turn for the recruits quarters. He flew up the flight of stairs throughout the building calling out to everyone of the soldiers who lived there, loud enough so that he could be heard over the sirens. By the time he reached the recruits shared area he was panting and heavily breathing. He didn't knock, he barged right in. "Gear up recruits! Today you start that training!"

With knowing something was already going down he was already packing his duffel bag. In it he placed all his electronics and a change of clothes. Of course their training taught them to pack light and he did but he always took a couple lucky things with him. Like his original dog tags. He wore his new ones that he would keep through this new job but he liked the originals because they had "Chase Duncan" on them instead of "Riley Duncan". His friends changed his name on the paperwork for fun.

Sitting on his bed for a moment he logged into his tablet and used a sign in he wasn't supposed to have yet to get into the immediate files for the base. One of his former teachers had signed in to show him something and he remembered the log in. Whoops on him for having a photographic memory. Clicking his wireless headset on he listened to the video released from Mars. It was horrific to watch. Clenching his teeth he watched the video over and over trying to analyze everything he could about it. Then noticed something in particular in one frame.

The other recruits around him started to get worried except for the couple guys that viewed him as competition, "What are you doing? Stop being a moron, we're fine here-"

Chase was about to speak back but the Captain came in. He would have smirked at the other recruit but this was serious business now. They were all in trouble and would need to work together.

Quickly approaching the Captain he pulled out his tablet and held it up to him, "I assume you already know about Mars but I have this." He zoomed in on one shot and a slight blurry symbol showed up, but blurry as it may be it was recognizable. It was the symbol of the Crytonic's armada. "Judging from the green slash over it, I believe that's General Braket's armada. That means a fleet bigger than what we have available on Earth right now."

Jaye expected the recruits to be put off by his sudden appearance. And while some where, Chase was ready. Jaye had to lift an eyebrow to that. However his questions were answered when Chase approached him right then and showed him the image of the fleets insignia. He tsked at the picture.

Jaye pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. With this knowledge he'd need to prepare not just the recruits, or the rest of the soldiers, but himself as well. This could be a war they would not survive during. His voice came out rather harsh at first, but he cleared his throat and tried again.

"This isn't something I would have wanted any of you to witness until you were good and ready. To be honest...." he looked at each one. "I wouldn't hold anything against you if you wanted to seek shelter with your family." Some of the recruits gasped, some held their breath. But he continued. "But right now, this moment, is the moment when we need absolutely everyone we can possibly get our hands on. We need every ounce of man power we can summon. I'd hate to say it....but even the veterans might have to sum up their courage again."

This sort of voice Jaye wasn't used to using. But there were many a times when he could be compassionate. He had once been in their same shoes. This was one reason why people followed him. His words held truth and compassion, nothing like some of the superior officers above him held. "How 'bout we say we go and kick some alien ass." He tried to sound hyped up. Perhaps it was the only way to get the recruits to risk their lives for their home.

Chase waited a moment, expecting to be told off for how forward he was just then but he was glad that the Captain took what he said and started to rally the troupes. Looking around at the other recruits he could see some of them were going to run from there and some were staying from a sense of duty. There were a couple that seemed to be prepared for this but he wasn't sure who all would make it.

Turning back to the Captain he looked at him determined as ever, "We're on this earth together, and if we would be brothers; fight-not on your own behalf, but for the sake of others." It was an old Irish saying he'd heard when he was younger. That speech and then Chase standing beside the Captain seemed to help calm down the other recruits. In the face of danger chase remained visibly calm even though his heart was about to pound out of his chest.

Smirking he looked back to the recruits and this time a handful of them approached him and saluted, "good at least we have some, Captain. We're with you." He turned back to the Captain and saluted him too. Behind them a couple recruits quickly left but they were leaving either way. Right now the majority was with them.

Jaye had to admit, he was pleasantly surprised by how strong willed Chase was. And although other superiors would have spat back at his powerful presence, Jaye was glad for his support. Because of it, only a few recruits left, but the majority of them stayed. By now there were even on lookers from the hallway, recruits who had yet to graduate. Sadly, even they would be needed in this fight.

Jaye straightened up and announced, "For today you all fall under my command. Some of you will be taking two person wingers, the rest of you one person fighters. Just stay next in range of my fighter, Angel 1, and I'll do my absolute best to get you back home." He turned then, stepping out into the hallway.

Those who gawked at what was going on addressed the Captain, others stood in fear. "The rest of you will be heading to the Galax, the outpost and helping citizens evacuate to their safety houses. We don't have much time before the enemy arrives. Let's get a move on!"

He waited until the hallways were clear, the recruits would run to their own superiors and be given orders on what to do. Then Jaye and his own team of soldiers left the building, heading straight for the Galax where most of the fighters still were. His included.

Chase smiled a little, he was happy to see the Captain didn't immediately reject him. He started to follow after the Captain and turned around to face his fellow recruits, "grab your packed bags like we trained for, mates, and get to your designated areas with you immediate commanding officer. Let move!" It seemed there was a small group of men not happy with Chase stepping in there like this, but they were his top competition for this spot. It seemed to work with the rest of them who were frazzled by what was happening. It helped kick them into gear to gather their bag and go.

Earth had been fine up until now, so none of these recruits had seen actual battle and it was overwhelming for most of them. Thankfully with having a few confident recruits in their mists helped the others get up their courage to keep going.

Chase ran after the Captain and adjusted his own duffel bag on his shoulder. In his hands held the tablet still as he looked over it, "Captain, there's new information coming in. The time has been adjusted of their arrival. They're saying we have only five hours now." He clicked along through the information on the tablet trying to see what else he could find out for them.

Jaye was determined to get the masses together before the enemy had time to touch down anywhere. He strode through the streets, helping lingering citizens get to safe houses nearby. He'd just helped a mother and her child into one when Chase jogged up next to him and held out his tablet. Announcing that the enemy was within five hours of hitting earth.

Jaye clicked his tongue. "Five, huh? It will give us just enough time to stop them before reaching us." He looked towards Chase then back at the recruits following behind. This would be the moment of truth for them. This would determine everything for them. They finally reached the Galax. It was crowded with soldiers all over the place. Recruits frightened and nervous, officers shouting orders. Jaye charged through the crowd and headed straight into the Galax towards the west wing. There were some crews, but most had yet to touch the wing itself.

He made his way to his own crew, who were in fact waiting for him. He stopped and greeted them before turning to the recruits who were following him. "Along with myself, these three guys will be helping you all during this battle. From left to right we have Fin, Aron, and Erik. Learn their fighter tags, learn their skills." He turned back to the crew. "We'll hold a trial run with these guys. Ready them quickly for the coming battle." The crew nodded and Jaye instantly started announcing where and how which crew would be assigned.

Chase was following behind and looked up a couple times to help point people in the right directions but kept up with the Captain as he typed on the tablet trying to find out all he could. He also loaded schismatics on the ship they were headed to. He'd glanced at them once before but now he would need to learn this ship from top to bottom.

Once they reached the ship he nearly ran into the Captain but stopped just in time. Looking up he was a little startled at where he was. He was so busy studying the images he hadn't really realized where they were. Looking over the Captains men he nodded his head as he went over everything.

Saluting with his empty hand he gave a little smile as he looked over the ship seeing what they were getting into. He stepped after the Captain and smiled to the new men they met. He approached one of them and started to ask about different items on the ship, "ahoy, is this ship really equipped with a double barrel armor penetrator gun? I heard there were only a couple ships in the whole armada to have those."

Erik piped up at Chase's excitement to the gizmos of. The Galax. "Of course she does kid! The only ship in the whole galaxy that does. Hell! The only ship in all the universes. Jaye didn't mind the small talk, it was a could reliever of stress. While Chase learned about the ship Jaye got other recruits into their ships.

Several were grouped as pairs in wingers, three were put in single fighters. He showed each person how to control the ships controls before stepping down and going to the next. When they were all settled Jaye returned to the group.

"We're limited on time. Let's get these recruits ready for battle." With that the three left for their own fighters, nor first before Erik ruffled up Chase's hair. Jaye tapped Chase on the shoulder gaining his attention. "This gal is yours." He pointed to the one fighter he had left. The fighter that had originally belonged to Jaye's previous crew member. It had been patched up and reborn again just in time. "Follow your instincts. Don't second guess anything. And call for us if your in a bind, we will come and help." He looked back at Chase with a small smile.

Jaye didn't wait for the recruit to say anything before he went over to his own fighter and strapped himself in. He took in a deep sigh before he turned his comms on. "This is Captain Jaye Dasdan. Angel 1. Taking a crew out for field practice." When he finished he brought his fighter to life and hovered it out of the west wing and out into the open sky. The recruits followed one by one as the other three members helped them navigate out of the hanger.

Chase giggled at the hair ruffle and reached up to fix his hair before he was pulled out of his conversation from the tap on his shoulder. Looking up the the fighter he felt his heart skip a beat. This was finally real. His hand dropped down from fixing his hair realizing it didn't matter. He was finally about to really fly one. Not just in a controlled location. Honestly be able to fly it.

Smiling back he quickly got strapped in and checked that he did everything correctly to set up twice. He didn't want to mess up on his first run, "Yes, Sir!" As they flew out of the hanger, he looked around trying to memorize who was in each vessel. His radar helped him keep track of most of that but it was still surprising. Smiling he typed along the controls then quickly followed the Captain out for their exercise to prepare for what was to come.

During the training he pushed the machines limits a bit to see what it could really do. Inside he did notice something that caught his eye. There was a spare helmet with a mans name on it. He noticed the name was of the one who'd just died from the Captain crew. He tucked it below the seat and frowned softly. He was in his fighter jet.

He was in the Captain's best mates fighter jet?!

Lifting his head he smiled despite himself and put even more effort into his flight training. If he was being trusted with this fighter then that certainly meant he was doing something right.

Jaye was actually surprised by how well his recruits did. And he had found soon after their training that other crews were doing the same thing. Not that they had other recruits to train, but because they wanted to make sure their skills hadn't died off. The wingers took some time, having to gain the trust of their partner and their skills. But it wasn't long before they had figured it out.

Jaye's crew was awesome with teaching the recruits and advising them when needed. He was proud of his new recruits, however there was one who stood out among the others and caught his attention. He couldn't help but notice how well Chase handled the fighter. And how well he flew along side the others. Jaye couldn't help being drawn to him. In fact, he had nearly missed a call from the Galax when he snapped out of his trance.

When he had regained himself he was calling to the rest of the crew. They'd been practicing for two hours and were now needed at a briefing to cover plans for the oncoming battle. "New plans recruits. Let's land for the day and meet at the Galax north wing offices." He stated over the comms. Soon they were all heading back to the hanger.

Landing and hoping out of the fighter. Some of the recruits joked with each other and smiled to one another about how well they did. Then a groupd of them came over to Chase to do that same. He laughed along with them and told them how well they did. While he was a little socially awkward it didn't seem to effect his relationship with his friends. If anything it made him more charming to them. He didn't gloat or boast about how well he did. He knew he did well, he could calculate that much but instead he commented about how well they did.

"Chase you did awesome out there," one recruit said.

"Oh I um... don't know about that um... Captain!" Chase turned to the Captain and saluted which caused a chain reaction for the others to do the same. Sometimes he didn't know what to do with compliments. When he got embarrassed he gets flustered and once he's flustered he doesn't know what to say.

The recruits were the first to make it out of their ships. Then the three crew members who were doing a quick check of the fighters to make sure all was still well, then Jaye. The hatch to his fighter opened when he heard a voice call out to him. Chase had called out and saluted him, causing a chain reaction from the other recruits. He sighed before climbing down from his fighter and heading towards them.

"I have to admit, that was better then what I was expecting it to be. However under the circumstances, I'm guessing you all were envisioning the fight to come." He looked them over with a small smile. He was proud of his small group of troops. "Now come, there's a meeting with the superiors and when we come back we will go over our own plan of action." He began walking off, the trio following behind him. Not first again before Erik ruffled up Chase's hair with a grin.

He was always one to tease, in fact, when he had first met Jaye, before he was captain, he used to do the same to his blonde locks before he cut his hair shorter. They all walked in a small group as other teams and groups of soldiers made their way to the meeting area.

Once they were all there, the Colonel of the Galax started his meeting. It was well planned out, clearly he and other superiors were working on this plan right from when the warnings came in. By the time the meeting had ended, another hour had passed. Every soldier young or old, recruit or veteran, were now determined beyond all that they had been that morning. Their eyes sparked with anticipation of the coming battle.

Even Jaye had found himself in that same group. He'd been in plenty of wars, but never were ever this close to his own home planet. Before ending the briefing, the Colonel announced that he had sent a message to their neighbor galaxy's in hopes that our friends would come to help. But even if it was sent out in time, they wouldn't reach Earth nearly in time. Only hope, faith and for some, praying, would help them get through this.

Jaye got up and left once again for the west wing. Where like he had said before they would have their own quick briefing before it would be near time that all soldiers and their ships begin preparations for departure. The Galax's sister ships would depart first, with all the fighters and wingers departing close behind them. They had time until then.

Chase giggled again and fixed his hair and tried to talk through the giggles, "you're making me look like a bloody arse, Erik..." Heading back inside with the troupes he listened to the speech and smiled. After hearing that he knew moral was really picking up from the initial panic. He stood among his peers and just took it in for a moment. Here they were, standing in their group, waiting for the attack.

When everyone started to disperse that was when he came out of his thoughts. Unzipping his jumper top he wrapped the long sleeves around his waist. Within the jumper he had a tank top and his dog tags under it. Now his tattoos were shown. He had a tribal like one over his left shoulder and an old Irish symbol around his left wrist, and on his right was a rosary wrapped around to a Celtic cross on his wrist.

Heading back behind the Captain he knew their next speech was coming up, then probably a meal before the main event. Going into this bag he pulled out his tablet and looked over it again. More reports had come through and something caught his eye, "Captain?..." He stepped over closer to him to keep others from hearing this. "Mars outpost is gone. The enemy claims to have several people as hostages. Something about wanting the Star of Veils back?"

He held up the tablet and handed the Captain a headset so he could listen to the static feed. It was simply a voice recording from one of the people from the armada, "you attacked our home. We killed as many of yours as you killed of ours. If you wish to not loose anymore of your people bring us back our Star of Veils. We will be waiting on your moon with the rest of your people. Attack us and we will slaughter the rest of you." Then the feed cut out.

Before they reached the wing, Chase came up to his side once more, softly calling his name. The trio noticed something was up and took the rest of the recruits on towards the wing while Jaye and Chase stayed put. He was handed a headset which he put on half way and listened to the incoming feed. His brows furrowed in confusion at the message. The Star of Veils? He couldn't recall anything like that here on earth. In fact, the attack itself was confusing Jaye just as much. The feed ended and he stood completely still. What exactly was going on?

The armada were claiming that earth had attacked them first. That they had stolen the Star of Veils. There was really only one explanation that he could come up with and he'd rather not have gone down that path. It required distrust and an unruly feeling that the attack by the armada all those years ago was not an attack by them at all. Jaye looked down at Jaye, having stood over him a slight three inches.

He instantly decided to fill him in on what he was feeling. "The armada are attacking us out of revenge for the past. But," he shook his head. "The last time we fought them, I had been told they infiltrated our sources and stole something important from us." He clicked his tongue and crossed his arms in front of him. "I have a rather strange feeling that that was all a lie.......and I shot down hundreds of their people." He finished in a quiet voice.

If what he said was in fact true. That meant that their government lied to them. Declared war against the armada for what they had done to us first. When in fact Earth had attacked them openly and without reason. Well, there was one reason. So that they could steal the Star of Veils and declared it was "returned" to its original home again. The pieces were very slowly starting to come in to place now and Jaye wasn't liking it one bit.
