Samuel "Sam" Winterburg

Age: 26

Height: 5'11"

Position: Uke

Nationality: London English

Personality: Timid, open minded, honest to a fault, self hatred

Bio: Once a timid, self hating human who couldn't help but think he wasn't wanted by anyone had been stabbed in an alley and left for dead. Thinking he had found peace with himself an older man found him and "helped" him. The man, was a survivor of an ancient bloodline that had been banished and hunted. Now Sam would suffer the same fate as he did.

Sam had never enjoyed his life, he felt that he was never needed, ever wanted. His parents had left him when he was five at an orphanage, and he was never adopted. He grew up to the age of nineteen, when he was forced to leave the orphanage. He struggled to find a place to work, or find a place to live. During the winters he almost died, and in the summers he couldn't stay out of the heat. Finally at the age of twenty two he found that he truly was no longer needed. He was nearly skin and bones when someone had decided to stab him in a dark alley in the cold streets of London.

Sam had come to peace with himself and had only hoped if he were reborn, he know what it was to love someone or be loved by someone. But just when he thought he didn't need to live anymore, a man had found him on his last breaths. He didn't know the man, had no interest in knowing him. But as he lost consciousness he felt the prick of something sharp against the skin of his forearm. When Sam woke up again he felt pain in his forearm and his head, as well as an overwhelming sense to eat something. Not knowing what he was now, Sam stumbled his way through the foggy morning streets trying to figure out what had happened.

His hunger brought him out of the foggy streets and into an open area where vendors set up and sold their goods. Their was one particular stand whose owner slept beneath the table. Somehow Sam was able to sense the blood pulsing through the man's veins. He stumbled over to the the stand and plopped heavily down beside the sleeping man. His hunger grew heavier and the pain in his head pounded stronger. He hadn't noticed what he did until the warmth of something red found its way down his throat. When he had gained himself again, Sam found himself sitting over a man whose blood had been sucked dry.

Stunned and frightened of what he saw, Sam ran. He ran from the streets and into the safety of a nearby woods. There he had met others of his own kind who taught what he was. He learned how to live with his hunger and his new developing powers. As a young vampire he was able to handle more sunlight then the elders could. Years had passed as he tried to make himself a home with these beings. But his hopes for a new life did not take him where he wanted to go. At the age of twenty six his bloodline was discovered.

Sam was banished from the vampires and left once again to find his own home. He had traveled long and far until he ended up in other countries. Not that he could stay, for as soon as he entered the country he was forced out of it by the vampire community. Just when he didn't think he'd find another home to go to, Sam thought of ending his life. He gone so long already without eating, it wouldn't be long before he wouldn't last much longer. Sam collapsed a large oak tree in some place he had lost any way of knowing. He no longer could think straight or stand up right. His legs had given out on him and he could no longer support his own body weight.

Sam closed his eyes against the moon that peeked through the forest ceiling. His head hurt much like it had when he first woke up all those years ago. "I can't anymore." He whispered to the chilled air around him. He was giving up, this was no longer the world he was meant to live in. Sam let himself go to the natural world around him. His legs were kicked out in front of him, his arms splayed to the side, palms up towards the sky. It had truly looked like a man who was giving himself to the forest and its inhabitants.

As a natural born wolf, DarkFlame was more in tune with his animal side than weres that were human born. It was a cold day in winter the day he was born. He did not learn how to transform into his human form until he was 10 years old. It hurt like nothing else he had ever experienced before. But with training and practice it got easier and hurt less. It was still painful but it was tolerable now that he was 32.

He had made his home deep in the forest a bit away from human settlements. Although he still goes in to town for certain things his human self craves, he mostly spends his time in the forest. He felt more comfortable in his wolf form then and his human one. Even though it seemed he could not stay in either form for long. Too long in the human form and his animal instincts started to take over causing problems. Too long in his wolf form ,although nearly twice as long as his human one… And his fur begin to itch and he would crave human things. It was a balance between the two different DNA types running through his veins.

He was in his wolf form when hunger hit and he decided to go hunting on the other side of the mountain the forest was covering. He found small herds of deer and smaller animals like wild pig and even rabbits when larger animals were scarce to be plentiful on that side. He chuckled deep in his throat as he moved through the underbrush, senses always at the ready for detecting movement and changes in smell. They probably sensed he lived on the west side of the mountain . A Smell he was unfamiliar with hit his nose as he crept along his hunting pass. It was not a pass anyone knew of and he kept the map of it inside his own head. But this… This was neither animal nor human. Although it did have human undertones it almost smells like death. As he got closer to the smell he realized what it was .

He stood straight up out of his Crouch and walked over to the limp figure leaning against the tree. Vampire. That was the only word that ran through his wolf brain. There was a vampire in his territory. His first instinct was to rip the creatures throat out. However, the human part of him told him he needed to get this vampire in to a safe place and question him. After all, he looked extremely malnourished skin so pale it was almost white . Human side and Wolf side like knows what the pings of hunger felt like the despair of giving up and just die of malnutrition. Especially during one of the harshest winters he had ever had to survive through. Therefore given the situation and his warring minds… He decided to take the figure back to his cabin. And as much as he needed his wolfs strength it would be easier to carry the vampire as a human. So he made the change and shifted into his human form. Strongly muscles, sleek and graceful he bent down and easily picked up the very light vampire and headed for his cabin. It was only a 15 minute walk and seeing as how the vamp was nearly dead he didn't think The creature would wake up anytime soon.

Sam had lost most of his mind to the darkness, but just before all went completely black, he felt as if his body had been lifted into the clouds. Perhaps he had left his body, that his spirit was now making the journey to the other side. But why did he not see the light that was spoke about all the time. He did however feel warmth against his side just before he lost his mind. When he finally came to, which was no more then a day later from when he was found, he woke slowly. His senses took time to adjust before he could completely sit up and look around. His hearing came first, hearing the crackling of a fire and possibly some rustling from across the room. Touch came next as he felt the softness of the bed beneath him. It had been the softest bed he'd slept on in his entire life.

Sound came to him next, it smelled like a woodsy smell, a rustic smell. It was strong, and so was the scent of something he'd never witnessed before. It was musty, much like the old dog that had lived with him in the orphanage. But it was stronger then that, so he wasn't able to put his finger on it. Then came his sight, slowly he cracked open his eye lids. Blurriness came to him first, he blinked once and then shadows came to him. He groaned as he tried to put a name as to where he was. He groaned and moved his head to the side, a wall. He turned to the other side, open space. He found the fire he heard, and now that he looked at it, he could smell something disgusting coming from it.

He continued to look around the room, he was in a cabin of some sorts, definitely not against the tree or in the open of the forest. He wasn't in the dark streets either. His vision came to him more, he caught some movement from across the way and watched the figure carefully. It moved about like he would, a human, no, perhaps another vampire. Sam's eyes widened and he shot out up of the bed. He regretted it instantly as his head exploded with pain. He cried out and clutched on to his aching head. Soon after he found the ache of his throat and the unbearable hunger he had felt all those years ago. "Hah! Ah! I- I want... Give me-" He tried crawling towards anywhere he could before he fell out of the bed.

With a hard thud he landed on the floor, clutching at him self and clawing at the floor. He had scraped some nails marks into the wooden floor before he felt the figure looming above him. He tried to make out the figure, but struggled. He swung his hand out and clutched hold of the leg of the other human. "I want...blood..." All the years he had stayed true to himself and stayed away from drinking human blood was quickly going down the drain as he struggled to grasp hold of his life. He wanted to drink something, he wanted human blood, but he was willing to drink the blood of a decaying boar if he had to. Anything to get this pain to stop.

Vincent, as his human form is called, laid the vampire down on his bed. He looked him over for any serious injuries and concluded that the vampire was merely week and cold. So he stripped off the wet clothes wiped down the pale body with a warm rag and put on a pair of cotton pants and long sleeve shirt that seem to be two sizes too big for the young man.

Then he took the clothes to the wash bin and clean them. Then He hung them on the rack by the fire to dry. He went back into the room and sat in the chair over by his book case to read until the vampire woke up.

Vincent close his book when he noticed the vampire moving. He stood up and walked over to the bed just as the young man fell to the floor and grabbed his ankle. He wasn't sure what would happen if a vampire drink were blood but he also knew that a starved vampire could turn vicious under The kind of malnourished state this one seemed to be in. Reaching down Vincent gathered The young man up and set him on the bed. His were strength keeping the week creature from attacking him.

His voice was low but gentle. Who knows what a vampire would do if he thought he was being threatened.

"My name is Vincent. I am a werewolf. I am not sure what would happen to you if you were to drink from me. However, in anticipation of your waking I have a deer tied to the tree out front. You must understand I do not want to be the cause of your death should you drink my animal were blood. Do you understand?"

Sometimes if a vampire is so overtaken with the thirst their brain does not comprehend words. And I was not entirely sure how far gone his mind was at this point.

Sam could feel himself losing his mind, the hunger was getting to him faster then he had ever thought it could. Had the strength of the other hadn't been over powering, Sam was sure he would have pushed him down and sucked him dry of all his blood as well. But seeing how he couldn't somewhere inside he realized that this wasn't a mere human. His earlier thought of being a vampire came back and he tried to get away from the other. But soon he was being lifted once more and placed on the soft bed. His hunger had his eyes turning a frightening shade of red from his normal grayish color. He growled at the other as he held him to the bed. It was gently, and even if he struggled, Sam wouldn't be able to do any harm to himself or the other.

Sam couldn't comprehend the exact words that were being said, just that words were coming out. But as he watched the other, he couldn't help but feel more at ease as he looked into the other's eyes. It calmed him down, enough to stop struggling against the other's grasp. Sam stopped growling, but still bared his fangs. In light of his calmness he finally managed to make out the words that were spoken. His eyes flashed quickly between the two colors, but decided to remain red. "V-Vincent...." Sam slowly whispered out. But it wasn't long before his hunger had him clawing at Vincent's arms.

He scraped his nails against his skin and drawled out some blood. This only excited Sam even more and he tried with what might he had left to lean into the bleeding arm and drink the blood that was oozing out. The arms that held him were stronger however, so Sam didn't get further then bowing his head. He was in a pathetic state. One that no vampire would ever take mercy on if they saw him like this. Perhaps then Vincent wasn't another vampire. But he wasn't human that was for sure. Sam still couldn't put his mind on it. And he probably wouldn't until he had something to eat.

Vincent sighed. It was clear that the young vampire was too far gone to comprehend what he said. So he used his strength and pick the other up and rush to the front door. He had knocked the deer unconscious just a few minutes before the vamp had woken and the poor creature was still out cold lying there tied to the tree. Being a Wolf he knew what was about to happen and it did not sicken him in the least. Sometimes his hunger got the better of him and he tore his pray to shreds. So in anticipation of what the other would do once blood his tongue, Vincent knelt down putting the vampire on the ground next to the deer, shifted and tore a chunk out of the deer's throat. All of this happened in less than 30 seconds. He jumped away and stood on the porch licking his lips from the blood that had shot into his mouth once he tore the flesh off of the deer's neck. Soon the vampire would would be sated and be able to have a decent conversation. But until then he would stay as he was in case he had to run.

As Sam was lifted into the air once more, he kicked his feet out, tried to fight to get down. He even tried to grip onto Vincent's shoulders to push himself away and then pounce back at him and attack him. But the were held him down tightly. His hands didn't once loosen o its hold around his frail body. NOt even when Vincent readied the deer's carcass and allowed the blood to seep out of its throat. INstantly Sam could smell the sweet sent of blood. Deer's blood was the sweetest of animal bloods, rich in vitamins and nutrients. Human blood was just always the better chose, the least amount to track down and hunt. As soon as Sam was settled down next to the deer he dove for it. Lifting up the neck of the deer into his hands and meeting it half way, he dug his fangs into the ripped throat.

The warmth enveloped him once more and it didn't take long before the entire deer had been sucked clean of all its blood. Now it just lay as a mass of bone and muscle. Covered in blood, Sam sat back on his knees and stared up at the sky. He was almost in a daze as his eyes slid back into their normal grayish color. From the bottom of his nose straight down the front of his shirt and pants, he sat covered in blood. Had he been in the middle of the street he'd be called a monster and killed on the spot. But here in the forest he didn't have to worry. It took Sam another few minutes before his senses completely returned to him and he was no longer an blood thirsty vampire.

When he noticed he was a live, he looked at his hands and clothes. He grew frightened and panicked, even if he could see the carcass of the deer and not a human, Sam, was afraid of what he had done. Suddenly his nose caught that musty smell again and he jumped up to face it. He narrowed his eyes and readied himself into a fighting position. He didn't know who this was or why he was there, but he wasn't about to let his guard down in front of a stranger. In a forest he didn't know. "Who are you?!" He called out in his defense to protect himself.

Vincent ready himself for a fight ad the vampire crouched in a fighting stance. Perhaps feeding him was a bad idea. But he did seem to be able to think clearly again. So despite his better judgment Vincent relaxed into his human form. And crouched, much like the vampire was doing, on the porch ready to fight if he had to.

"My name is Vincent. I saved you. Although… "

Vincent eyed the young man sideways looking at his stance.

"I'm not so sure that was a good idea. If I wanted to hurt you, you would be dead. "

Vincent hoped that the non-threatening tone of his voice and his open questioning expression would make this Young man relax enough that they could stand up and go back into his house and get cleaned up. The clothes should be dry by now and he would have to wash the ones now covered in blood but that was fine by him if it meant they could go inside. Not that he had a problem with the out doors mind you but Vincent would like to get the vampire inside showered and into clean clothes before the smell of blood attracted other predators.

The creature stood taller then him, he noticed that without even having to stand beside him on the porch. His size left Sam more hesitant and more on guard, but when the creature shifted back to its human form Sam twitched into a more looser stance. At his soft tone of voice, Sam looked to the side at the deer once more and then down at his clothes. He supposed the words held truth. Had this man wanted Sam dead, he would have done so when he was unable to stand against him.

Sam lowered his stance, wobbling just a bit as he tried to stand straight and complete. The rush of blood still hadn't taken over all his body, therefore he still felt a little weak. But he'd be better in no time at all. Same nodded and thanked the man with such a soft voice had he been a normal human, he wouldn't have heard it. "I guess, I should thank you." Despite his ever growing want to have killed himself, Sam had no choice but to thank the man. He had no reason to save Sam, but he did.

Sam couldn't help but look back to the deer and grimace at the sight. He had tried so hard to live off nothing but small portions of blood, like rats. But the small creatures were never enough for him. His body began to crumble away, but Sam never wanted to do anything about it. Which lead to his state just a day ago. But what should he do now? He was given another chance at the same dreadful life he was given. He'd still be hunted down by other vampires and he'd still be stubborn with what blood he drank. There had to be plenty of rats in the forest though, right? Or would he have to go back to the streets and scavenge for them there?

Vincent noticed The young man relax into a stand and he relaxed himself standing up to his fall 6 foot four height. Having been in Wolf form and then shifting into human form, he wasn't wearing anything. Although that did not bother him in the least it would probably be a good idea to put some pants on. He opens the door and motioned for the vamp to come in. He was pretty sure that the young man was not stranded in the deep would 90% dead by choice. And he would address that conversation when the time is right. Right now Vincent's main priority was getting with the other cleaned up.

" I offer you my shower and clean clothes. I am unfamiliar with the specifics of vampires however I do have food if you are capable of eating it. After you have showered and are dressed you may make yourself comfortable in the living room either on the couch or in one of the lounge chairs in front of the fireplace."

By the time he got done with his shower I will have made a fire and a meal for myself. Though I would have preferred to hunting wolf form, I am not opposed to eating as humans do. I just have my meat a little on the rare side. And over the years I have become quite fond of steamed carrots broccoli and Collie flower and baked potatoes with sour cream and chives. It's strange that a wolf would like such things however I am also human and I have to come to terms with that.

I have made peace with both sides of what I am and have learned to enjoy being both. I went into my bedroom and pulled on a pair of black jeans and a dark blue T-shirt. I was not one for fashion but when I was in human form I like to be comfortable.
