Sathenus
Name: Gabriel Age: 22 Personality: Determined, hard working, passionate. Gabriel won't give up on anything easily, whether it's his dreams, or his responsibilities to whoever he is assigned to protect or bring down. Working hard, he trains consistently when home, trying to hone his skills and become better. Cunning hazel eyes scanned the seemingly deserted ruins of what was once a grand city. Something the mortal race, his race, had been proud of for many generations. It was nothing more than dust covered rubble now. Mother nature had already started reclaiming what was now a scar on the face of the earth. The war that had destroyed the once grand cities that had been the pride of the human race had long since passed. Almost sixty years had gone by. Gabriel was a sixth-generation vampire hunter, it was by generations that his family counted how long ago the war had passed. Glancing over his shoulder, Gabriel looked back in the direction he had come from. He was on his way home after a mission himself. His family lived in a large building always patrolled and hidden deep within the woods that had to be no more than a mile before him. Looking forward to returning home so he could relax and get so much needed medical attention for a rather deep wound he had acquired on his shoulder. Having wrapped it up the best he could with the limited amount of resources that had been around him after taking out his target. Still, the cloth he had used had long since been soaked with his blood. Even he was able to smell it in the air. Something that made his eyes dart around trying to make sure that he was definitely still alone. After a moment he started forward again, placing his feet carefully to make as little sound as possible. He was so close to making it to the safety of the trees. The forest spreading out just before him would provide much more shelter and many more places to hide if need be than the ruins he was currently in. There had been no other option though, the quickest path back to his home was through the large ruins. Had he tried to walk around them his journey would have been increased by at least a day or two. That was something he couldn't do, even if he knew his chances of running into danger in the ruins was far higher than had he stuck to the forests. Why? Because there were still pathetic humans trying to hide in the former cities that their ancestors lived in. And for what? To try to hold on to something that was long gone. Honestly, he thought it was a miracle they hadn't been turned into some supernatural creature's pet or play thing yet. There were still groups out there fighting, groups out there struggling for survival. Normally his family did all they could to protect them and help them get to safer areas. Not this time. Most of his family was out on a mission to extinguish a group of vampires that had moved to close to their own home. Even if it was a weeks journey by foot, for the blood suckers that could travel much quicker it was not that far away. Shaking his head he pushed them from his thoughts, the trees were growing as he got closer. Suddenly he stopped mid step, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on edge as his eyes darted around. His normally cream colored skin had a slightly paler hue to it thanks to the blood he had lost in the fight. His fingers inched towards his hip and the blade there as he grew on edge. In some spots his skin was dirty, his normally neat black hair was messy from sleeping on the ground when he had the chance. The past few weeks had been hard on him, but he was no less of a danger to anything that got in his way. Careful to not turn his head even slightly as he glanced around him he took another step forward. Stopping completely would be a bad idea. He would stand and fight if it came down to it, but he knew the best way for whatever it was to show itself was if he kept moving. Even if he could sense the eyes watching him. Sans_Sexy_Slave
Name: Emirik Schuyler Age: over 600 Personality: Continuously frustrated not only by the lack of food but also by the stupidity of the supernatural that freely hunted the mortals despite the consequences. Extremely smart and loves learning of the history of all races even mortals. Doesn't fight unless provoked. Keeps those close to him safe. Emirik sighed as he looked up from his book at the yearling before him. Since the war, he was hunted down by his own and forced into being an adviser and protector of sorts for the counsel of the supernatural beings. He had enjoyed his solitude before then with his small covenant of mixed supernatural beings. It had always been like that. Emirik and his small band of companions that came and go yet were always there to protect each other. But now, here he sat. His small time of peace from the counsel interrupted by a child whose sire could not even install rules and respect into its own child that it is not to disturb one's elders for nonsense. And to show some form of gratitude when they asked for something from said elder. "Are you sure that they have just decided to hunt further from your nest. It is not unusual during these times." Emirik answered calmly yet already bored of the situation. The yearling growled. "Have you not been listening old man? My covenant members are missing, what's so hard is that to understand?" Emirik slammed his book closed causing the younger vampire to flinch. Emirik said nothing as he slowly narrowed his eyes at the insolent child before him. With a deep sigh, Emirik stood from his seat, pushing his seat in. Then walked towards the guest that sat before him. He stood beside the other creature of the night placing a delicate hand on the younger's shoulder. "I will look into your friends' disappearance," Emirik reassured squeezing the yearling's shoulder until the younger whimpered. "Though in my absence, I will advise you to learn some manners. It is quite rude to speak to your elders in such a way even during this day and age." The yearling nodded trying not to let on how much pain they really were. Emirik nodded in acceptance then finally let go. With a slight smirk, Emirik disappeared from the room flitting to the spot that the yearling had mentioned during their rant. It was only ruins now but Emirik could remember the bustling city . . . when it could still be called such a thing nearly a hundred years. It was sometimes unsettling how such a prosperous location could become nothing but rubble in a matter of hours. But such is the thing of life. For even in nature, there was no certainty how long even the greatest of predators will eventually meet their own doom. Emirik glided through the ruins occasionally stopping to run his hands on the remnants of a building's walls or a memorial statue. A small smile graced his lips as visions of the past flashed behind his eyes. He could hear the multiple voices of the now dead. The laughter of children and friends. The smell of gas and pollution from vehicles. His slightly glowing unfocused eyes looked back up at the building before him. But this time, it wasn't the destroyed pile of rubble but the glory of what the building once was. It stood tall and magnificent. The gargoyles that rested on the roof and the stained glass was enough for Emirik to see that the place was once a church of some sorts. Beautiful. What a shame that its beauty could not have survived the war. The wind picked up snapping Emirik from his embrace with the past losing the fragile visage he had. As the wind blew once again, Emirik took a deep breath realizing what had caught his attention. He could smell the strong scent of humans, which weren't really a surprise. He had already had a suspicion that there were humans in the bigger cities' ruins. More hiding places and whatever. But they weren't what he was interested in. He never was. What did truly peek his interest, was the under scent. The smell of fresh human blood. Emirik tilted his head and headed towards where the smell was stronger. As he walked, he kept his gaze towards the road before him. There he could see sparsely spaced droplets of blood. Either the wound wasn't that bad or it was being soaked up by a cloth which was overly filled. It did not matter which but Emirik knew that he would need to figure out if this injured mortal had anything to do with the nearby young covenant. He followed the light trail of blood a little further to see that it was heading towards the forest up ahead. With a sigh, the vampire flitted towards the treeline. Navigating through the trees until he began the stench of blood becoming even stronger, as well as, hear the footprints of the person. He slowed until he was able to easily track the figure before him from the trees. Either the other didn't recognize the threat of Emirik following or was playing it cool. Emirik knew it would be stupid of him and highly dangerous if he thought it was the former. After the war, many humans had become better at recognizing a threat and learning to trust their natural instincts. Not wanting to drag this out any more than he needed to, Emirik stepped from the shadows to lean against a nearby tree thankful that he decided to stay in his human form instead of his true one at the moment. "Hello lost lamb. It's quite late to be wandering these woods by yourself, especially with an open wound like that." Emirik stated bored wanting to be done with this endeavor. "Though I must ask you, you wouldn't know anything about a young covenant near these parts, whose members have been going missing have you?" Emirik's burgundy eyes began to glow an unearthly ruby red color as a pasting wind blew the red heads long locks wildly around his face. "It would be in your best interest not to lie to me, human." Sathenus
It was clear that whatever had found him had been following the scent of the open wound on his shoulder. It caused Gabriel to swear under his breath, if only he was more prepared to treat such an injury. Eyes scanning around him as he continued to move forward, again be careful to make sure he didn't turn his head in any direction. The last thing he wanted was for the creature to realized he had caught on to their presence. Having been in enough of these situations to know it was for the best if he played it off, as if he didn't notice or feel that he was being followed. Finally he reached the tree line where he felt more comfortable, despite the fact that he knew danger was nearby his muscles visibly relaxed and a soft sigh passed his lips. Eyes drifting shut for just a second. When the reopened he noticed the figure leaning against a tree bringing him to a full stop as he eyed the creature. A small frown crossing his face at the words, "I'm not a lost lamb, I know very well where I am going." Gabriel replied his voice taking on a rather cold tone. "I don't think that's any of your business." Gabriel added as he crossed his arms over his chest. There was no way he was going to admit any involvement with the disappearances that had been happening to a nearby vampire coven. Of course Gabriel had a part in it, hell, a few different members of his family did. But in no way was he going to admit that to the vampire before him. A small smirk crossing his face at how easily he had been able to tell, knowing that the others back home would be proud. Some races were not that easy to tell apart from others. Being raised the way he had been though meant it was easy for him to tell a vampire from any other. Still, it brought questions as to why this one was inquiring about the coven. Looking him over Gabriel was sure that he wasn't part of it. If he had been he'd have known already that he had a part and knew about the disappearances. Gabriel wasn't really sure you could call it a disappearance, considering none of those members would ever be returning to the coven. "It would be in your best interest not to address me like that vampire." Gabriel responded shooting the creature a glare. He might be young, but that didn't mean that he was going to be tolerate of they way the creature was speaking to him. Turning slightly away he continued to speak, "If you don't mind I have somewhere to be." Alright, he was being more than a little difficult. But was it really surprising? He was sure it wasn't, not with how the world was today. It made him wonder how things had been before this war, none of his relatives that had survived the war were still around. Their legacy lived on though, and the family was stronger than ever. His father insisted it was because of 'selective breeding' as the older man liked to call it. As if they were just animals that needed to be bred to be better. Sometimes it bothered him how the older members of his family referred to his generation. It seemed as if all of them had married and had kids for one purpose, to improve the bloodline and make better hunters. The thought made him wonder if it was successful. After a moment he realized he had lost himself in his thoughts, with a threat so close that was not smart. 'So much for better.' Gabriel thought to himself with an eye roll before he moved to leave and head back on his way. There really was no time for him to stick around and humor the creature, he had to get back home and get the wound treated. If it had lead this vampire to him then he didn't want to know how many other creatures had picked up on the scent. Though his family mainly hunted vampires, and that was what they were raised to do since they could walk. It was not the only race that they had been trained to take down, it was just their specialty. Sparing another glance back towards the creature as he moved past the tree he was leaning on. Having made sure he put a bit more of a distance between them as he did so. Gabriel didn't want to lead the vampire back to his families home, but he wasn't going to stand around and have a conversation either. He was trying to avoid conflict, already being injured meant that the fight wouldn't be in his favor. Thinking logically, he knew his best bet would be to just try to bore the creature. If the vampire found him uninteresting then surely he would leave. Or at least, that was what Gabriel was currently hoping for.
Sans_Sexy_Slave
Emirik frowned with a tired shake of his head. “You brats need a few thorough lessons in respect,” the vampire sighed before looking towards the wounded human. “Listen Childe, I am neither in the mood or mind set to have to deal with your foolishness. Your body language and refusal to answer such a question is enough for me to think that you at least know something.” The red head leaned his head against the tree though didn’t take his eyes off the brunet, “You do understand in these circumstances that the rule us creatures have in these parts will be dismissed, correct?” Emirik raised a questioning brow at the other. “You will not be turned into a pet or anything along those lines. You and your acquaintances will be released into the care of the remainder of the victim covenant and tortured to the brinks of madness before being turned yourself and starved until there was nothing more for you to do but to turn on your comrades and feast upon them.” Emirik explained as he took out a cigarette and lit it. Emirik chuckled at the human’s spunk, just a little amused. He closed his eyes as he took an inhale of his nicotine. “Unfortunately, human I do mind.” The vampire replied yet didn’t move from his spot from the tree. “It’s mortals like you that make it so difficult for old men like me to honestly relax. But like they say, there’s no rest for the wicked.” Using his vampirical speed, Emirik reappeared just out of arms width of his human companion in case the young male had a weapon. The red head looked down at the other with a feral smirk. “As much as you don’t want me here and mostly is planning my death, you can believe I won’t to be here that much less.” Emirik shrugged, “If it had anything to do with me, I honestly wouldn’t give two fucks if you wiped out the entire covenant of dipshits.” The vampire shook his head in remembering how much things changed from when he was first turned. Usually it was because of some talent or intellect of a certain human that got them turned but over the last two hundred years or so, it has become a problem with the younger generations turning people because they were too fucking lazy to kill them their selves or just for fucking amusement. I’m getting too old for this baby sitting shit. Emirik groaned internally. Bringing his attention back to the human, the vampire sighed loudly, “look, neither of us wants to be here. If you stay here any longer, then most likely you’ll die from blood lost that has nothing to do with me. So, let’s cut the shit kid. Anyway, as a Sentry of the Creature Council, you can understand why I can’t just turn a blind eye to a potential suspect.” The wind picked up as the vampire’s burgundy eyes began to glow a deathly pale green. “So, what will it be? Will you answer my questions, or am I going to have to beat you inches of your life and drag you so the council can deal with you themselves?” Whatever the human chose, Emirik hoped it was quick so he could return to his home, write out his report, and hopefully be left the fuck alone for the next couple of days. Sathenus
“I have respect. For those worthy of having it.” Gabriel replied giving the vampire a dirty look. So he didn’t have respect for the supernatural, that was something he had been taught. He had respect for his peers, if they were mortal… and family. He lived and died for his family after all, that and continuing the tradition of hunting down and destroying vampires. With that thought in place he looked over the vampire before him once more trying to decide if this was a battle he should even take one. Sure, he was injured, something that could very well be fatal if he didn’t have it treated. The smell of blood was in the air which unnerved him as his eyes quickly darted around before moving back to the creature. Gabriel had to make a choice. The creature continuously frustrated him as he spoke. “Oh yeah, because I was so hoping I’d be turned into a pet. I mean what could really be better than that?” He asked sarcastically with an eye roll. Noticing the vampire pull out a cigarette he couldn’t help but snort, it was amusing and in a sense ironic that they would still be around. Still he didn’t comment on that, though curiosity was peaked when he was told that the creature didn’t care if he wiped out the entire covenant. “Then why the hell are you here?” Gabriel asked his tone making it clear he wished the man wasn’t. “You’re the one keeping me here. We both could have been on our way and long gone.” He added crossing his arms back over his chest. A sense of unease passed through him when the creature moved standing just out of arms reach. Instantly Gabriel grit his teeth watching the creature with hesitant eyes. In a way, he was waiting for him to step up or any sign that it was going to move closer. Muscles throughout his body tensing, as if preparing itself for an attack that at this point seemed inevitable. Noticing the sudden change in the creature’s eyes had Gabriel’s hands twitch towards his sides where two blades were hidden to give him a more unprotected appearance. “If you even think you can beat me within inches of my life you are mistaken.” He replied with a slight growl. The fact that he was being so easily underestimated did nothing short of piss him off. Even though he was young he was still a threat, and he never liked not getting the recognition he deserved. “I’m not answering any of your damn questions. Unless you have proof of my involvement then I suggest you turn around and leave.” The longer they were here in each other’s presence the more that Gabriel just wished he had ended it a long time ago. Even if they really haven’t been in the other’s presence for very long it felt like an eternity. On edge now, and knowing that the vampire was quite clearly posing a threat he had to figure out what he was going to do. He could very easily take the chance and just lunge at the creature. The chances of that ending well weren’t very high though and he really couldn’t afford to have his body ripped open in another other places right now. Though the blood flow had slowed as far as his shoulder was concerned it still needed medical attention. Something that it was being refused as he stood there looking over the creature standing in his way. Another option was literally to run for it, but even then. The chances of him making it far enough was not likely and outrunning the vampire was an impossibility something he was already aware of. That left him with only one option. To stand his ground, wait for the creature to make the first move and counter it to the best of his ability. Though it was the best option, it still meant he was wasting time. The more time he wasted the worse of a position he was putting himself in.
