brohne
Kenta I opened my eyes, blinking slowly. Something didn’t look right. It was too dark, light streaming in from one small window set up high in the wall. “Get up Arakaki.” I immediately sat up. Rame? Why was Rame here? Fuck. I ran a hand over my eyes and looked around. Rame was sitting up on his futon glaring at me. This was . . . why was I here? “Rame? What-“ “Shut the fuck up bitch.” I nodded and shifting around sat on my knees facing him. Something must have happened for him to be in this bad of a mood. “Go get me my smokes.” “Hai.” Getting to my feet I went to the shelf where we were allowed to keep a few small personal items. I had none. The shelf was mostly Rame’s books and porn magazines. The cigarettes were hidden behind one of the books. I moved the book and had just reached for the half empty pack when I felt a large hand on my neck and I was suddenly shoved against the shelf. Oh fuck! Rame’s breath was hot on my cheek as he leaned down. “I heard you were doing favors for Takemago.” He pressed me harder against the shelf, the edge cutting into my stomach as he leaned against me. “You are mine. I catch you doing any favors for anyone else and I’ll let Arita and his gang have that tight little ass of yours.” “I wasn’t! I-I didn’t! I fucking swear Rame!” The weight lifted and I could breathe a little easier, until the fingers tightened around my throat. Next thing I knew I was on my back on the floor. Rame glared down at me, the dark eyes narrowed dangerously. “You think you can get away with lying to me.” I shook my head scrambling back as he walked toward me. “Come here.” I swallowed hard and fought down the sick feeling as I edged toward him. You didn’t fuck around when Rame gave an order. He ruled the whole cell block. No one wanted to mess with him. It was common knowledge that he’d murdered several people, compared to him what I’d done looked like a misdemeanor. Getting put in the same cell as him was both blessing and a curse. A blessing because for some reason he seemed to tolerate me which meant most everyone else left me alone and a curse because it meant I had to humor his every whim unless I wanted to end up like the kid before me. “On your knees.” I closed my eyes for a moment before complying. It wasn’t often he made me do this and apparently I was the only one he made do it. I’d heard some of the other guys talking and it seemed Rame considered me his personal property. Was the only reason I hadn’t been used like a lot of the other new guys. Sure enough, the giant dick appeared out of his pants and he gave me an expectant look. I stifled the sigh and let my mind go blank until it was over. At least he only seemed interested in blow jobs and nothing else. Except this time he shoved me off before he’d finished. I looked up at him confused and a little scared. Had I done something wrong? I wasn’t sure how to read the look on his face. It seemed to be a mixture of disgust and arousal. I yelped as he grabbed me by the hair. He leaned down until our faces were only inches apart. “Toshiaki is right. You are too fucking pretty for a guy.” I blinked a few times, confused. Toshiaki was Rame’s second in command and between the two of them they basically ran the cell block. I didn’t quite understand where this was going, but got the hint very quickly as I was forced down on the futon. “R-Rame what are you doing?” I tried to push myself back up, turning to look at him over my shoulder. There was a cold prickling sensation running through me. “Just shut up.” He shoved me back down and I felt a hand on the waistband of my pants. Holy shit, no fucking way! He’d never gone this far before. No fucking way I was letting this happen. I didn’t give a fuck how big he was. Twisting out of his grip I whipped around aiming a kick at his chin. It knocked him back. “You ain’t fucking touching me.” I was on my feet now, shifting to get into a stance that would allow me to move quickly if I needed to. He got back to his feet growling at me. “I’m going to fucking rip you apart Arakaki. No one refuses me.” “I just fucking did asshole. If you fucking expect me to just spread my legs like some bitch you better fucking think again. Ain’t no one doin that to me. I’ll fucking rip your dick off.” He chuckled as he got up, wiping the blood from his chin. “You ain’t got a chance in hell against me Arakaki. You coulda made this easy on yourself. You give the best blowjobs of anyone here, so why wouldn’t I want to get a bit more.” I edged back as he moved toward me. “Don’t fuck with me, Rame.” “I’m going to do a lot more than fuck with you Kenta.” I dodged out of the way as he lunged for me. There wasn’t much room to maneuver in the small space and I knew if he got a hold of me again it would be over. I needed to end this as quickly and permanently as possible. I didn’t get a chance. My back was to the door and I turned as it opened, startled. A massive hand closed around my neck even as I realized it was Toshiaki in the doorway. Desperate I pried at Rame’s fingers, but they just squeezed tighter. “Starting without me Rame?” “He decided he’s too good for me.” I could barely see for the spots floating in my vision. I lashed out with everything I had feeling another set of hands on me. I was going to fucking kill them. “Just hold still Arakaki. You fight too hard and it’s going to be a lot worse for you.” Somewhere in my head I was trying to figure a way out of this. If I was honest with myself things didn’t look good. I shuddered at the sudden cold feeling as my pants were stripped off. Hot fingers grasped my hips and Rame let go of my neck long enough to shove me to my hands and knees. Looking down I realized I was on my futon. My shank was almost within reach. Rame didn’t know I had one. No one knew I had one. If only I could reach it without them realizing what I was doing. I gasped, the air rasping in my sore throat, as I felt wet fingers slide along my crack, probing before pushing against me. “Get the fuck off me.” I tried to move my hips, anything to get those fingers away. I was shaking, a sick weak feeling suddenly hitting me. I managed to inch forward, my blade was still just out of reach. “Stop fighting.” Rame grabbed me by the hair and shoved my face down into the blankets. Someone’s arm was around my waist keeping my ass in the air. I yelled into the blankets as a finger was roughly shoved into me, the burning pain searing through me. I thrashed not caring what I had to do, but I was not going to let this continue. “Fuck, that’s tight. Barely got my finger in.” I gasped as the finger curled raking my insides. Fuck. Oh fuck that hurt like a fucking bitch. The finger was suddenly yanked out and Rame let go of my hair. I couldn’t move, I was in too much shock. “Let me see.” Oh fuck no. I clutched at the blankets trying to move away as one of his huge fingers found me. He pressed the tip against me, my muscles clenched on their own refusing to allow him in. “Fuck I can’t even get the tip of my finger in.” “Gonna have to prep him good or he’ll bleed everywhere.” The arm around my waist tightening and I heard Rame snort. “Let him bleed. Serve the fucker right. Hold him still.” I felt Rame get up, the arm around my waist suddenly gone. Now was my chance, except Toshiaki had grabbed my balls and had them in a tight grip. “Yeah you ain’t going nowhere.” He yanked making me yelp. My blade was just beyond my fingertips. I had to get to it before Rame got back. Too late. “You got him?” “Yeah.” I was pulled up and shoved onto my back. They both smirked down at me, but it was my turn to smirk at them. I had my knife . . . I blinked slowly, a dull insistent ache had settled behind my eyes. What had happened? Light was streaming down around me and I could hear laughter in the other room. I went to turn over and realized I couldn’t. Ryuu was laying curled up against my back. I let out a slow breath, some of the tension leaving me. If I closed my eyes I could still see Rame. An unwelcome shudder ran through me and I sat up. The clock had to be fucking lying. I needed to get going. There was too much to do and way too little fucking time to do it in. “Shit it’s late.”
brohne
Ryuu I came awake fully as Kenta sat up. Yawning I stretched and rolling over tried to focus on the clock. “It’s not that late. We’ve got plenty of time before practice.” “Sora and Hasu are already here.” He grumbled as he got up. “So, its not like they don’t know that we sleep together.” “That’s not the fucking point Ryuu. Anyway, I’ve got to go do some shit today. Don’t wait up for me.” Perplexed, I lay in the bed watching as he got dressed. Something seemed off, but I wasn’t sure if it was just me being overly sensitive. He came back to the bed, dark eyes nearly hidden behind his hair. Leaning down he gave me a quick kiss. “I’ll call you later. Don’t lay around all day.” *** "This seriously isn't working guys!" Akira sighed running a hand through his hair. “We aren’t getting anywhere with this song. I think we need to take a break or just stop for today.” "That's an idea." Sora yawned as he put his guitar away. "So are we stopping for today?" Hasu raised his eyebrows looking at each of them. I shrugged and waved a hand at them from where I was looking over the score sheet. "Might as well." "Cool! I'm getting a snack." Sora sighed once Hasu left and Akira went over patting his arm. "Everything ok?" "Yeah, it's just . . . his birthday is next month and I still haven’t figured out what to get him." "You’ll think of something, Sora. Reiko and I are going shopping for a gift next week, why don’t you come with us." Sora shook his head as he started for the door. "No, thanks though, I’ll think of something. If anything I’ll just take him to dinner. " I didn’t look up from the music as the door shut so I was a little surprised to hear Akira’s question. I’d thought everyone had left. "Was Kenta coming over tonight?" That wasn’t something I wanted to talk about right now. Kenta had been coming over less and less the last few weeks. He still texted or called me every day but it was starting to feel like he was just checking in on me, not actually concerned. "No, he's helping at the bar tonight and Suke needs him tomorrow so he’s staying at his place tonight." "He's been gone every night this week though." The papers crumpled in my hand and I forced down the sudden hurt welling up. "He . . . comes home when he can. We've actually been talking about him moving in." It was a flat out lie. The most we’d talked about was work and the band. Akira raised an eyebrow at me, clearly not believing me. "Ryuu. . . What's wrong?" "Hmm . . . oh nothing, just this song is bugging me. I've never had so much trouble with a song before." I looked back down, gathering up the loose sheets and smoothing out the crumpled ones. Akira walked over to stand next to me the concern in his eyes all too evident. "Are you sure that's all it is? You've been kinda quiet all day." I turned to him the papers clutched to my chest. "Yeah. I guess I'm just missing him. He's been gone a lot lately. He's been getting called to help the clan too with some minor stuff." "Jiro said he-never mind." Akira stepped away and started for the door, I almost reached out to stop him wanting to know what he’d been going to say. He looked back at me. “Don’t worry, alright Ryuu. I’m sure that whatever he’s busy with he’s missing you too.” After everyone went home I headed back to the studio to work on the song. It was really starting to bother me that I hadn’t got a decent track laid for the week. It was going to throw off our release schedule. Putting my headphones on I listened to the tracks we’d recorded earlier. That’s when it hit me. The music sounded great. It was me. My singing was off. When I took the vocal track out it sounded amazing. Sighing I set my headphones on the desk and leaned back. Maybe Kenta being gone so much was affecting me more than I wanted to admit. Maybe I should ask him to move in. I sat up realizing something. I didn’t know where Kenta lived. How had I known him this long without ever once going to his place? Maybe it was time to correct that. He was always over here and I didn’t want him to think that I didn’t care about his life beyond what I saw every day. Grabbing my phone I called Jiro. It wasn’t even midnight yet so he was probably still awake. He was. “What’s wrong Ryuu?” “Umm, actually I had a question for you . . . do you have Kenta’s address?” There was a long pause. “No, I don’t.” “What? Really?” “Yeah . . . he’s never let anyone go to his place. I think the only person who actually knows is Hayate.” “Oh . . .” “Ryuunosuke, is something wrong? Do you need to get ahold of Kenta? He’s helping Suke interrogate someone right now but I can get him-“ “No, its fine. Do you have Hayate’s number?” “Yes, just a sec.” I took it down and said goodbye. Sitting back down I stared at the number. Why would Kenta keep where he lived a secret from everyone? I knew he made good money. Not that you could ever tell by looking at him. Maybe he was embarrassed about it. He just never seemed to care about material possessions, at least outside of his motorcycle. Well I would just have to surprise him.

brohne
Kenta I glared at the man across the counter. “What the fuck you mean I gotta pay?” “You want to see one of my escorts you have to pay. No one sees them for free.” “You gotta be fucking kidding me.” I felt like punching the overdressed piece of shit. He was smiling at me. “Well you know . . . I could put you to work if you are needing job. You’ve got a great-“ “You wanna die fucker?” “Ahem . . .” He backed up a step eyeing the blade that was now in my hand. “You don’t have to resort to that kind of thing. I was only offering you a job.” “I’m gonna make this real simple. I just want to talk to them. Okay? Talk.” “Okay . . . just put the knife away.” Flipping the blade shut I stepped back. Why didn’t people ever do what I asked them to the first time? It would make things so much easier. “Follow me and please don’t scare them, they’ve had enough issues lately.” I frowned. That didn’t sound good. “What’s been going on?” “The last couple of weeks we’ve had some ‘incidents’ with our escorts getting mishandled by clients.” “Don’t you have bouncers for that kinda shit?” He glanced back at me as we walked down the narrow hall toward the back of the building. “Of course we do, but the boys never once said anything. It wasn’t until another client complained of bruises on the boys that I found out.” “Someone was hurting them and they were too scared to say anything?” I tried to ignore the sounds coming from some of the curtained rooms we were passing. “Yes, that’s why I was reluctant to let you see them.” “I fucking get it. I’m here to find out who that fucker is, not hurt them.” He stopped at a door and turned to look at me, his eyes narrowing. “Are you really with the Kobayashi?” I pulled back my sleeve to show him the tattoo. He nodded, pressing his lips together for a moment before opening the door. The room wasn’t very bright, the kinda lighting Ryuu called ambient or something. There were a couple of couches facing each other. The boys who’d been sitting on them scrambled to their feet as we entered. “This is Arakaki Kenta, he just needs to ask you a few questions.” One of the younger looking guys stepped forward and held my gaze. “I’m Erizawa Hidemichi, I will speak for all of us here. May we speak privately?” I glanced back at their boss who nodded. He led the two of us to an abandoned looking office. I sat on the corner of the desk while Erizawa dusted off a chair. He waited until the door clicked shut then turned to look at me. “I’m glad you are here. The other day when Fuji-san tried to turn him away I thought things were going to get violent.” “Who? What’s the fucker’s name?” “I only know his first name, Naoki. Last time he brought a friend with him. ” I raised my eyebrows, waiting for him to continue. He coughed and squirmed in his seat before getting up and pacing in front of me. "They ordered the usual, drinks and a show. I had one of the other boys help me. Though they didn't really seem all that interested in the strip tease, mostly talking with each other and drinking." I held up a hand stopping him. "What did they talk about, it could be important." “They were talking about this band that Naoki used to be part of or used to date a member from. Naoki was really upset talking about it, saying how the singer had ruined his life and he wanted revenge. They were pretty drunk by that time. I’d been keeping their drinks topped off to avoid them getting violent. Naoki’s friend calmed him down, saying he’s got a plan, that he knew how to make them all suffer for ruining his life.” He stopped and looked at me before sinking back down into his seat. “I know what we do isn’t the most glamorous thing, but I do enjoy making people happy. But these guys . . . there was something totally different about them.” “What did Naoki’s buddy look like?” I need more information if I was going to figure this out. “This new guy . . . he’s not fully Japanese, he looked part African maybe. He was tall, very muscular, and I would have found him attractive if not for his aura of menace. Naoki scares me, but this guy terrified me. I’ve never been so nervous around clients before and we have yakuza in here all the time.” He paused for a moment thinking. “I never heard his name but he had this scar running across his stomach from one side to the other.” Erizawa demonstrated running his hand across his midsection just above his navel. A chill ran through me and I suddenly felt sick. There was only one person who fit that description. “Rame . . . his name is Obuchi Rame.”
brohne
Ryuu I didn’t understand what had just happened. I couldn’t stop sobbing even after I’d thrown up in the bathroom. Everything seemed to hurt, but it was the massive searing weight in my chest that was threatening to pull me under completely. Wobbling into the bedroom, I collapsed on the unmade bed. The smell of Kenta hit me and I clutched at the sheets the sobs coming so hard my vision went black. “Ryuu? Ryuu where are you?” Choking I scrambled to my feet and somehow made it to the door of my room. “Go home! I don’t want to fucking see anyone!” The slam of the door jolted me and I sank to my knees holding my head in my hands. How had this happened? Why? Why would he yell at me like that? All I’d asked was where he was going. Why would he scream at me? What had I done wrong? Was he already tired of me? “Ryuu! Ryuu! Open the door! What’s wrong?” Akira’s panicked voice barely reached me. I couldn’t think anymore. I just wanted to curl up and cry until the pain faded. I jumped as soft hands pulled me up and led me to the bed. I sank down burying my face in the covers. "Ryuu. . . Talk to us." I slowly sat up seeing Akira and Reiko standing over me. Akira handed me a tissue so I could wipe my face. Reiko sat next to me, a gentle hand rubbing my back. "Ryuu . . . what happened?" "He-he left. I woke up when he was getting dressed." I paused as a few soft sobs slipped free. "I-I asked where he was going, but he wouldn't answer me. I kind of got irritated and pressed the issue. Th-that's when he yelled at me and said that if I needed to know he'd tell me. We-we've never yelled at each other like that before, or even fought like that. He-he finally just left and he won't answer his phone. I-I need to apologize to him, I said some things I shouldn't have." "No Ryuu, you had every right to yell at him. You deserve to know where he is and what he's going to do. . ." I could tell Reiko was upset and I felt bad for involving them in my personal matter. After a while they had me go sit in the living room. Reiko headed in to the kitchen making phone calls. I knew she didn’t want me hearing what she was talking about, but I was too exhausted to care at the moment. I felt completely drained, unable to even move anymore. "You-you don't think I'm too clingy do you? I didn't think I was that whiny." "You aren't Ryuu, he was just making excuses." I could hear the frustration and anger in Akira’s voice as he stroked my hair. It actually made me feel worse. Why would Kenta feel the need to make excuses like that? Nothing was making sense. "Ne Ryuu! Let's go shopping. Akira needs a new French couture outfit, don't you think?" Reiko closed her phone as she walked toward us. I shook my head, the motion making me dizzy. "No, I don't feel like going out. Actually, I have a really bad headache. I think I'm going to lay down." "Ok, Ryuu. I'll go get you a coke and some aspirin." Akira got up as I shifted around on the couch to get comfortable. I didn’t feel like being alone in the bedroom anymore. I thanked Akira as he brought me the bottle and pills. Drinking the coke made my stomach feel a little better but I still felt oddly weightless and disconnected. Reiko’s phone rang and she frowned as she went to answer it. "The hell?" Answering it she blinked, "What's up Sora” She paused and I could just make out Sora’s voice. "What? No. . . Hasu isn't here Sora. . ." Reiko turned to look at Akira, her eyes wide, "Are you at his place? He might be- I don't know. Are you nearby? Go check." Pulling the phone away from her mouth she frowned as she spoke to Akira. "Hasu isn't answering his phone." Akira shook his head. "Maybe he's in the shower or something. Or he accidentally left it on vibrate again. He did that a couple weeks ago, remember. I'm sure everything is fine." “Yeah, Sora? Oh you are . . . alright, just call me back when you find out something.” She hung her phone up glancing at Akira, "Apparently Hasu left with someone but that doesn't explain him not answering his phone. I'm going to get my guys on it. I want to find Hasu. I'm not taking any chances at all with this." "Can you call Hayate and ask if he can send some guys looking for Hasu? I'd call Isao but I need to call my people first." Akira already had his phone out and was dialing Hayate's number. I looked back and forth between them, not understanding why they were suddenly so worried about Hasu. What was going on? "Ano, Hayate, we have a situation and I need you and Isao and whoever else you can get, to check it out. Sora went to pick up Hasu, but apparently he left his house with someone and now he's not answering his phone." Akira hung up after talking a bit longer to the yakuza enforcer. I was starting to feel sick all over again, but for an entirely different reason. Time seemed to crawl but all too soon I heard the door opening. Sora gave me a small smile as he slipped his shoes off. "Heard from Hasu?" Akira shook his head. I frowned seeing the hopeful look in Sora's eyes fade into something akin to panic. "I'm sure everything is just fine, Sora. Maybe he left his phone on vibrate again or something." Sora nodded. "Yeah maybe so." "Hey Sora." I managed. He immediately came over and gathered me up into a hug. I buried my face in the soft hair and hugged him back. "Rei told me what happened. You okay?" "Not really. I just . . . don't understand what went wrong. We've been through so much together . . . is he just tired of me?" Sora hugged me tighter as I started to shake. "Whatever his excuse, it's wrong." He pulled back after a moment to look at Reiko. “I talked to Hasu’s landlord. He was able to give me a description of the guy Hasu left with. Maybe you know him. He was tall, foreign looking, clean cut with a goatee.”
brohne
Kenta I parked my bike in an alley not too far from the bar where I’d been told Rame and this other guy Naoki were seen pretty often. My heart was beating too fast and I really wished it would fucking calm down. I could handle this. I wasn’t a scrawny, terrified fifteen year old anymore. Out of habit, I checked my knives. One in my belt sheath, one in my wrist sheath and one in my boot. Should be fine. Trying not to think too fucking much I headed inside the bar. It was dead. Not a single person sat at the bar or any of the tables and the stale, musty air felt like it was choking me. Had I been lied to? “We aren’t open yet, happy hour doesn’t start for another thirty minutes.” A gruff voice from the direction of the bar informed me. “I’m waiting for some people. Supposed to be here.” “Oh . . . you with the guys in the back? Go on in then. He said he was waiting for his buddy.” I almost said it wasn’t me but suddenly thought better of it. “What room?” “Last one on the left down the hall past the bathrooms.” “Right.” The hall was cluttered with empty liquor crates and other shit. A couple of stacks threatened to fall on me as I walked past them. I jerked to a stop hearing a muffled yelp. What was going on? My knife was already in my hand as I edged forward. As I got closer to the end of the hall I could hear voices. “Tell me the address.” “No!” There was a smack and a yelp. “Tell me or the next hit I’ll aim lower. You are really just making this harder on yourself you know.” My heart suddenly seemed to be trying to leap out of my throat. Someone was being interrogated. “Not going to talk? Fine. Maybe we’ll try something new.” “Stop! Stop! What are you-“ The sentence was broken by a scream of pain. I clutched my knife and rushed the door. I knew that voice! The scene made me want to puke and I’ve killed people. But to see a friend like this . . . he was hanging from the ceiling by chains that had already bloodied up his arms. Blood was running down his chest and stomach from dozens of cuts and there were already bruises forming in places. “Hasu . . .” “K-Kenta!” Hasu gasped through bleeding lips. “Kenta . . . help.” Things faded until all that mattered was the man holding the cattle prod. I didn’t recognize him, but that didn’t matter. I’d figure it out after he was dead. My blade hit metal as he blocked me. I followed up with my other fist and landed a solid punch to his jaw. He staggered back trying to keep his feet. I didn’t give him a chance to recover. Batting the prod away, I landed several more punches, the last one finally knocking him off his feet. I kicked him in the ribs grinning at the loud groan of pain. I grabbed out my larger knife and was going to finish him off when Hasu called for me. “Kenta, please . . . the other one will be back soon. Please get me down.” It took me a few minutes to figure out how to undo the chains. I kept one eye on the fucker on the floor. He was holding his ribs and breathing hard. “Stay down unless you wanna die right now fucker.” I growled at him. I nearly dropped Hasu as his weight sagged against me. He was slick with blood and sweat and difficult to hold on to. “I gotcha, Hasu. Lets go.” “You aren’t going anywhere, Arakaki.” I froze. Hasu whimpered softly and I let him go so I could turn to face the new voice. If anything he looked even more intimidating than the last time I’d seen him. “Rame.” “You’ve filled out nice, Arakaki.” He sneered at me, flicking ash off the end of his cigar. “Shut the fuck up you damn fucking son of a fucking bitch.” “Ah, that pretty mouth is still the same too I see.” I shoved Hasu behind me, my knife ready as he took a step toward us. He glanced down at the other guy and shook his head. “You let this little bitch get the drop on you Naoki?” “He just charged in here, what was I supposed to do?” So that was Naoki, shoulda stabbed him when I had the chance. Fuck. I could feel Hasu shaking as he clung to me. I had to get him out of here and fast. “Get out of my fucking way or this time I really will kill you Rame.” Rame cocked his head, grinning at me. “Really? We never did get to finish what we started did we? You really think you can take me now, Kenta? Maybe I’ll take you instead? Just like I was going to last time.” My mouth was suddenly dry, my throat tight as I tried to breath normally. “Yeah, that didn’t work out so well then did it?” The smile faded replaced with a grim hostile look. “You aren’t leaving this room. Either of you. I’d been hoping to find you after I helped Naoki with his little problem, but it seems you were more involved than I thought. Get this Naoki, Kenta here is fucking that piece of shit singer.” I almost threw my knife at him, but I’m not as good a mark as Daisuke and I didn’t want to lose a weapon. “I’m gonna gut you and let you watch me pull out all your insides Rame.” He laughed. The next thing I knew he was coming at me. He was a lot faster than I remembered, but he also wasn’t a fat sixteen year old either. The fat was gone, only muscle remained. He punched clean through my block. Hasu yelped as I fell into him. I was seeing stars and shook my head to clear them. Maybe trying to fight him was a bad idea, but there wasn’t any other way to get Hasu out of here. There was an odd crackling sound and a sudden searing pain flared in my side. I blinked. Fucking hell! Why was I on the ground? “Kenta!” Hasu was trying to help me up only to get kicked away as Rame came to stand over me. I was still trying to figure out what had happened. My side felt like it was on fire and moving was fucking difficult. I flinched as that crackling noise started again. Rame chuckled. I nearly bit through my tongue as agony surged through me. It was like someone had set me on fire. When it finally stopped, I gagged. I couldn’t even fight back as I was lifted and shoved against a wall. I had to blink several times before Rame’s sneering face became clear. “I like that look on you.” I grabbed for his arms as his hands wrapped around my throat. His grin seemed to get larger as he leaned down, his voice soft. My heart was pounding so fucking fast it was going to make me sick. “I’m going to enjoy this.” “Stop.” I barely managed to get it out. “What do you want?” He laughed, the pressure on my throat letting up slightly. “What do I want? I want what I’ve always wanted. But that’s not something you need to know about.” “Come on Rame! We don’t have time to play around. We need the key codes.” “Well . . . we’ve got two people right here who know them, don’t we.” Rame’s shit brown eyes turned back to me. “You wanna be a good little bitch and tell us the code to get into the apartment.” “Go get fucked, Obuchi.” “Didn’t really expect anything from you honestly, now your pretty little friend over there-“ There was a crash and I shoved against Rame as Hasu yelped. “Let me go! I’m not telling you!” There was that dammed crackling sound and Hasu started screaming. “Stop! Stop it!” I kicked at Rame. “Leave him alone, he’s just a kid!” “Hold up Naoki.” Rame’s smirk sent a rush of fury through me. I was going to kill him and take a nice long time doing it too. “Are you going to tell me what I want to know?” I took several shallow breaths trying to force down the horrible helpless feeling that was clawing its way through me. “What . . . what do you want with Ryuu?” Rame chuckled and slammed my head back into the wall. “What do you think you fucking idiot? His parents are insanely wealthy. He’s an only child and I’m sure they would pay anything to keep him safe. Or to get him back.” I couldn’t breathe. Rame was laughing, Naoki joining in with him. That’s what they wanted. To kidnap Ryuu? No. I couldn’t let this happen. I might be a failure at a lot of things, but I wasn’t going to let them hurt Ryuu. I had to do something and now. Rame had loosened his grip slightly and while he was talking to Naoki, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my knife. The click of it opening caught his attention. He wasn’t fast enough to avoid getting cut. I grinned seeing the gash in his arm. “You goddamn mother fucker!” He yelled, but avoided getting to close. He knew what I’d done to him last time. I wasn’t going to stop this time. They’d hurt Hasu and were planning on hurting Ryuu. No fucking way I was letting that happen. “Oh come on, Obuchi, you didn’t think I would come unprepared did you?” “Unprepared? Kind of a big word for you isn’t it?” I glared. “Shut the fuck up. Let Hasu go. Now.” Naoki let go of Hasu who scrambled to his feet. “Hasu get out of here!” “I’m not leaving.” “Fucking hell, get out of here!” Hasu looked startled, I’d never yelled at him like that but he had to understand, these guys would kill him. I yelped as my arm was grabbed and twisted. I knew better than to let myself get distracted around Rame. Too late now. The knife thudded to the floor and I followed it about two seconds later. Rame wasn’t taking chances this time. Blocking him was useless. The last thing I remember seeing was Hasu being dragged out of the room screaming for me. “Kenta! Kenta!”
JenovaVII
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT! :Red_fox: BAD?! You're crazy... (-_-) I already said in the chat and I'll tell you again. This is, undoubtedly, my favorite chapter to the date. More than the emotional ones and more than the ones that had love scenes. This chapter made me excited at the end of every paragraph and desperate to read the next. So f*cking damned good: bloody Hasu in chains and mega pissed off Kenta cursing is sexy ass off *.* It's building up to the climax. Anxiously waiting for the next one. Top quality writing, as expect (:

brohne
Ryuu Sora and I sat on the couch in the living room watching the news. Akira and Reiko had left to go look for Hasu while we had decided to stay at my apartment in case he showed up. Sora kept picking up his phone and looking at it. I didn’t say anything. What could I say? Hasu was important and special to all of us but especially to Sora. Sora sat up on the couch as he heard the front door open. Familiar blond streaked black hair appeared around the door. "Oh my god! Hasu! We've been so worried!" Sora was already on his feet and heading for the door when he stopped. I took one look at Hasu's face and knew things were horribly wrong. I'd never once seen Hasu look that terrified. "S-Sora . . ." Sora could have been a statue as the door opened wider. I clapped a hand over my mouth to stifle the sudden urge to scream. "Hello Miyaki, it's been a while." Naoki. Naoki was standing in the hall behind Hasu. Sora stumbled back as Naoki lashed out with what looked like a metal rod. It caught him on the side of the head sending him to the floor. I jumped up. My shout mingling with Hasu’s "Sora-" Hasu's yell ended in a yelp and anger surged through me as the younger boy was knocked to the floor. No one, especially not some fucking psycho like Naoki, touched Hasu. I started forward but Sora was already on his feet again. Blood was trickling down the side of his face, but his eyes were dark and murderous. "Stay where you are Sora, or your drummer will be lucky to be able to hold chopsticks." Naoki's foot pressed down on the back of Hasu's neck, holding him down. "Now, I'm going to let you up. Remember what I told you. You do what I say or I'll make good on that promise." I watched Hasu slowly get up as Naoki moved back. He moved like he was hurting, his normally cat-footed grace gone. He didn't look up as Naoki shoved him in the direction of the living room. What had Naoki done to him to make him too terrified to even fight back? There was no time to think about it. There was a crackle of electricity and a thud. I gasped seeing Sora on the ground Naoki with the baton raised over his head. “Sora!” I don’t know what possessed me, but the next thing I knew I had a hold of Naoki’s arm and was trying to keep him from hitting Sora again. “Let me go you dumb fuck.” He shook me off and I suddenly found myself grabbed and forced to the ground. “So this is the famous Ito Ryuunosuke.” A low ominous voice drawled above me. “Don’t hurt him! Please don’t hurt him!” Hasu was sobbing. “R-Ryuu I’m so-sorry . . . Kenta-“ “Shut up boy!” The man above me snapped. Hasu didn’t say anything else but I could still hear him crying softly. “You got the other one Naoki?” “Yeah he’s out.” My arms were yanked behind my back and I was hauled up. I felt like the floor had dropped out away from me and I was on a continuous free fall into hell. I had a glimpse of Sora sprawled on the floor and gasped in shock. There was so much blood. Why was there so much blood? “Sora! You fucker! What did you do to-“ I yelped as he backhanded me. This felt so familiar and tremors of fear ran through me. My brain was doing crazy tumbles and leaps trying to comprehend everything that was going on. It was all happening so fast, I felt dizzy and pathetically useless. “You forget already how to talk to me, Ryuu?” Naoki snarled. “You should be happy I didn’t hurt him worse.” He shoved me down into a chair one of them had pulled out from the dining room table. “Rame, you got that rope?” Rame? This giant of a man was Rame? He was easily Sora’s height, but didn’t have Sora’s lean graceful figure. He was too bulky. This was the man even Kenta feared. Oh god . . . Kenta. I glanced over at Hasu trying not to yelp as I was roughly tied to the chair. Hasu had started to say something about Kenta. Hasu was huddled in the arm chair that Sora usually sat in, his arms wrapped around his knees, his face almost invisible behind his hair. He looked so tiny. “Tie up the other ones too. We might get some money for them too.” Money? That’s what this was about? Of course it was. Naoki was one of the greediest people I’d ever met, he loved to possess things. The next couple of hours seemed to literally crawl. Naoki and Rame went through every room and I could hear them going through my things. Sora came to about the time they came back and started going through the kitchen looking for something to eat. I glanced down hearing the soft groan. Slightly glazed green eyes peered up at me through blood matted hair. I shook my head hoping he’d get the hint to stay down. I saw his eyes widen in understanding and he settled back down with a small hiss of pain. Hasu had long since passed out in the living room where they’d left him. The poor kid looked terrible and I had to keep myself from thinking about the things they might have done to him. I knew what Naoki was like. How cruel he could be and how much he liked to inflict pain. Just thinking of Hasu being at his mercy was enough to start silent tears running down my cheeks again. The only thing I was thankful for was that Akira and Reiko weren’t there. I jolted, Naoki’s voice catching me off guard. “What the fuck is taking so long? Why haven’t they called back?” “Be patient, they’ve gotta get the money together don’t they?” There was a grunt. “I don’t like being here.” “Don’t worry. No one is going to come up. That kid took care of that.” “Yeah and you said no one knew about the bar either but then he showed up and almost ruined everything.” “Are you questioning me?” Whatever Naoki had been going to answer was interrupted by the phone ringing. Rame’s grin said everything. “Took you long enough. You have it? . . . Good.” I listened to him give them instructions on what to do with the money. My poor mother was probably having a complete melt down. Didn’t they understand that my parents paid money to prevent this very kind of thing? Jiro and his gang were probably already in the area and getting ready to solve this. Naoki and Rame were dead. Quite literally. Jiro would show no mercy. I knew him well enough for that. I looked over at Naoki where he lounged in the kitchen eating my food. “You guys are dead. You realize that. My parents won’t pay you.” He snorted at me. “They already are. Rame’s talking to them now.” “He might be, but my bodyguard is Yakuza and they have sworn to protect me and my family.” He laughed. “Who do you think gave us the access codes to get in here? Rame knows Kenta, they go way back. He was in on this whole little caper the whole time. You really are stupid, you can’t even tell when someone is cheating on you.” Not even being beat by Naoki hurt as bad as that statement. Kenta had been cheating on me? Why? With who? I couldn’t believe him. Yet . . . it made sense. The way Kenta had been pulling away, spending less and less time with me. I let my head drop not even realizing I was crying until tear drops appeared on my lap. “Why would anyone want to stay with a dumb fuck like you, all the needy whining and clinginess. It’s enough to drive any sane person away.” A sob startled me, but then I couldn’t hold them back. It was exactly what Kenta had said to me that morning. I was too needy. “Fuck, this is exactly what I was talking about.” “Shut him up Naoki.” Rame snarled. Grabbing my hair Naoki jerked my head back. The look in his eyes sent a lance of fear through me. “I’ll take care of him, don’t worry.” Keeping a tight grip on my hair he reached around me and I felt the ropes loosen. Then he was pulling me to my feet. “Wait . . . what are you doing?” Hasu was on his feet, staring at me. Naoki didn’t reply and started to drag me toward the hallway. We both stumbled as something slammed into me. “Leave Ryuu alone!” Hasu was clinging to me, bodily trying to keep Naoki from taking me with him. “Get off you little shit! Rame, come get him.” Hasu started yelling and I felt the thud vibrate through us both as he was hit. “Let go Hasu, let go.” Something shattered and I heard Naoki grunt, the grip in my hair leaving. Hasu and I both collapsed to the floor. I grabbed him realizing he was unconscious. I looked up, shocked and relieved to see Sora up, a broken wine bottle in his hand. Naoki was slumped against the wall, blood, wine and glass shards all over him. Rame didn’t look a whole lot better as he got to his feet. “You are dead you-“ The door to the apartment slammed open, yakuza pouring in. I caught a glimpse of Jiro followed by Daisuike and several others, then things seemed to go gray, noises fading.

brohne
Kenta Clouds were floating overhead. Bright, puffy balls of . . . puffiness. That one looked like a squid. And that one looked like Isao’s face. No that was Isao’s face. I blinked several times. “Yeah, he’s got a concussion and he’s not very coherent.” “Where did you find him?” “At that bar Ichimura mentioned. Someone beat the living shit out of him and . . . well . . . he was naked when we found him.” “Seriously?” Who were they talking about? Whoever it was I felt sorry for them. A hand was placed on my head. I wanted to shake it off, but didn’t have the energy. “You probably better take him to a clinic.” “Yeah, how are the other boys? You got those two fuckers taken care of?” Isao sounded very worried. “Hasu won’t quit crying and keeps saying it’s his fault. Ryuu’s not much better. Sora has his hands full, poor guy. We got the one fucker, Ryuu’s ex. Sora just about killed him. He had glass imbedded in his skull.” “What about the other guy?” “He got away. I have no idea how, but he took down Jiro.” Why did that news give me such a horrible stomach ache? I turned my head slightly so I could see who was talking and a sudden massive wave of dizziness had me wondering which was up and down. “Whoa! Easy there Kenta, you shouldn’t be trying to move.” I whimpered as fingers gripped me propping me back upright. Hayate was peering down at me. I tried to smile but quickly decided that my face wasn’t up to it. “Fucking hell.” At least that’s what I tried to say, came out more like ‘fffklll.’ “Yeah, don’t move okay. I’m going to take you to a clinic.” Not another fucking clinic. ***
brohne
*** The sound of voices woke me. Of course they did, the walls in my apartment were thinner than paper. Wait . . . this wasn’t my apartment. Why was I in the hospital? Sitting up took a lot of effort and not a little pain. Fuck. That fucking piece of fucking shit had really enjoyed himself. Hopefully Daisuike hadn’t sliced him up yet. I wanted to be the one to do it. I looked over as the door opened surprised to see Isao and Reiko. Neither of them looked happy, in fact they looked like they had been arguing. Isao glanced over at Rei who was glaring at me. My heart did an odd little skip-hop that kinda hurt. “You really are scum you know that Kenta? Playing hero, pretending you’ve spent the last month ‘investigating’. You obviously weren't doing shit but fucking around with another guy so don't pretend." She stalked over to the bed. I flinched away from her as she leaned down, too startled by what she was saying to respond. "I don't want you to ever show your face around my boys ever again. I don't want you going near Ryuu. You hurt him beyond anything you probably ever can repair you piece of shit. You failed all of them not only as a bodyguard, but as a friend. We trusted you and all you did was stab us in the back." "You don't know shit." I finally managed around the lump that was stuck in my throat. "I spent a month chasing leads and working to find out who the shit head was. You and your contacts didn't even know that there was a stalker! I did everything I could-" "By lying and cheating. Great way to protect us Kenta. By destroying our trust in you, by stabbing us in the back? If you hadn't tried to play the hero, none of this would've happened. If you had told someone that there was a stalker the problem would have never gotten this far. Hasu wouldn't be afraid of anyone touching him and Ryuu wouldn’t need to be sedated most of the day! You know, surprisingly I'm not as upset as I would've thought I might have been about the whole Naoki thing. What I'm most upset about is you cheating on Ryuu, hurting Ryuu, lying to Ryuu. He loved you. He still fucking does probably. When I left he was clutching a picture of you with another guy, crying and blaming himself for all of this. You have no idea what you have done to him. You hurt him worse than Naoki ever did.” Fucking hell . . . that was not fair at all. Where the hell was she getting the idea that I’d been cheating on Ryuu? From some pictures someone took of me? But when and where? I’d only been at that fucking gay bar to get information, not screw around with some stupid escort. Anger was quickly replacing the hurt. "What the fuck? I never cheated on him. You base your whole assumption that I cheated on a few photos some guy you've probably never met took? What the fuck Reiko! So I had to do some things I didn't really want to do to find the info I needed. Yeah, I fucked up. I could have done things differently, but so could you. We both fucked up when it came to protecting them. I'm not fucking perfect, not like you always pretend you are, ordering everyone around." I was starting to shake I was so upset. Cheating on Ryuu had never once even entered my mind. I loved the idiot. For Reiko to believe that I would cheat on Ryuu was another blow. I thought she and I were friends, maybe not close friends but hell, I’d saved her life. Wasn’t that worth something? "If you didn't act like a fucking whore then maybe my contact would've have taken pictures that let us assume you have! What else are we suppose to assume when you're seen at a fucking gay bar with an escort!" Stepping back she turned walking off. “Don’t show your face around here again Arakaki."
brohne
*** I left the hospital the next morning with a bag of meds and instructions to not lift anything over ten pounds. Ryuu hadn’t come to see me and not a single person had called or texted me. Looking up at the clear blue sky, the cool November breeze seemed to chill me to the bone. People were coming and going, but I might as well have been part of the scenery for all the attention anyone paid. Fuck, what the hell was wrong with me. I needed to just go home. I had a sudden mental image of Reiko and her telling me never to come back. I must have stumbled or something cause someone grabbed my arm and asked if I was alright. I nodded, trying to say thanks, but nothing came out. I really needed to fucking snap out of it. Ryuu’s apartment wasn’t my home, even if had started to feel like it. I took the bus to my old neighborhood. I got off at the usual stop and stood there for a long moment. Turning away from the stree, I looked up the hill. The neighborhood was even more run down than I remembered, that or I’d gotten too used to luxury penthouses. Though even the neighborhood my apartment was in looked better than this. Businesses were boarded up and abandoned. Trudging up the hill, I kicked trash out of my way. Stopping a narrow alley between two buildings I stared down it. This was it. The path I’d used to take home from middle school. It was dirty and dark just like I remembered, just with more graffiti and a stronger shit smell. I felt like I was walking down a tunnel that was slowly dragging me into the past. Stopping at the narrow crumbling steps that led down to the entry to the abandoned building I tried to decide if this was a good idea. My past was ripping my life apart at the moment . . . did really want to visit the place I’d lost everything once before? Fuck it. I hadn’t been back since that day five years ago. Might as well see if anything was still there. Though doubted it. The door was gone, that didn’t surprise me. What did surprise me was that nothing had been touched. The furniture, what little we’d had, was still sitting around the tiny apartment. I stood in the doorway for a while trying to convince myself that I shouldn’t go inside. I did anyway. It was a mistake. They had never cleaned it. Once I got inside the dark stain on the floor was clearly visible and my stomach twisted up into a hard knot. If I closed my eyes I could see her laying there. Face down on the floor, her clothes torn and bloody. She looked even smaller and more fragile dead. “Ayame . . .” The sound of my voice startled me. Turning around I walked back out. I had to fix things with Ryuu. I had to do something. No fucking way I was gonna to let those fuckers get away with hurting Hasu and going after Ryuu. This time I wasn’t going to fail. I’d die first. My phone rang, making me jump. I glared at the name on the screen. What did that bitch want? To cuss me out more for fucking up and getting my ass beat? “What is it Kurosaki?” There was a soft sigh from the other end, “Kenta . . . I-I’m sorry. I shouldn't have assumed you were cheating on Ryuu but you got to look at it how it looked like, especially to us. You lied about where you were and who you were with and to top it off you made Ryuu cry. That's- That's not why I called though." Taking a breath, she let it out, her voice quivering slightly as she spoke, "Rame got away. He-he's basically on the loose now. The boys are going to Akira's where Jiro is and Hayate and Isao are going there to keep an eye on them till he’s caught. Kenta- I- . . . You need to explain yourself to Ryuu. He loves you, he really does and me being protective won't stop him so make up with him, fix this. . . please." I didn't say anything, thinking about what she'd said. Rame was one unforgiving bastard. He’d never stop harassing me as long as both of us were still alive. I sighed, rubbing a hand across my forehead. If I'd just told Reiko what was going on I would have had the whole picture right off. I’d just been so scared that Ryuu would panic knowing that someone was stalking the band. I should have just risked Ryuu's hysterics and told them. It wasn't worth all this pain. Hearing Reiko say my name I looked down, clearing my throat so I could speak. "I'll see what I can do." Shutting the phone I glanced back at the apartment building. If Rame was out there, I would find him. No one hurt the people I loved and lived to regret it.

brohne
Ryuu I looked up as the bathroom door opened. I was sitting wrapped in a blanket on the couch in Akira’s apartment. Sora and Hasu were on the floor at my feet. Sora had Hasu wrapped in another blanket and was holding him. Hasu had finally calmed down and was dozing. Akira was in the kitchen getting us all something to drink. Reiko came out of the bathroom looking haggard and too old for her eighteen years. She’d been crying. That much was easy to tell from the bloodshot eyes and the way she tried to hide under her bangs as she walked into the living room. "A-Ano, I talked with Nakamara and he's going to take care of things. We have to stay put though. We are safest here." Sitting down she kept her head bowed, the long dark blue striped hair hiding her face. "I'm sorry guys. I really am." "Wh-what is going on Reiko?" I was trying very hard to keep my composure. After everything that had happened yesterday and this morning I was afraid to ask. Before Reiko could answer, my phone rang. Instantly recognizing the tone, I grabbed it up seeing the text message notification. I held it, just looking at the display for a moment. I was frightened to see what he had to say. Part of me didn’t ever want to see him again while the other part was desperate to get him back. I knew he was hurt and had spent the night in the hospital, but I’d been so wrapped up in what had happened at the apartment and dealing with Hasu’s hysterics and my own panic attacks I hadn’t called or even texted him. I slid the phone open and hit the button. I love you and I'm sorry. Shutting the phone I stared at it. A foreign surge of anger rushed through me for a moment I just stood there before throwing the phone across the room. It shattered against the far wall the pieces clattering to the floor. Hasu yelped and I heard Sora cuss but it barely registered. “I’m going to beat him. Who the fuck does he think he’s fooling! This whole time and he never once-not fucking once-says he loves me. Until now. I swear I’m gonna find him and beat him-“ “Ryuu, calm down.” I turned to glare at Reiko, not about ready to calm down. This was too much. “No! He’s cheating on me with some nasty little escort and then he lets Hasu get kidnapped by Naoki who did who knows what to him-” “Ryuu!” “No Sora, I know Naoki, I know what he’s like. For Kenta to let this happen and then you getting hurt too, I’ve had enough. He’s lied and avoid me for long enough. I’m going to go find him.” “Ryuu you can’t! Just think for a minute okay. I know you are upset, we all are, but putting yourself in danger is not going to help anything.” Sora grabbed my arm before I could open the door. “Ryuu! Sit down and think for a minute. “ I didn’t want to think. It was too painful. If I could be angry then I didn’t have to feel the hurt. The feeling that something was clawing away my insides until a hollow bleeding shell was left was replaced by the hot ache of anger. After everything we’d been through together, even before we started dating, how could he betray-not just me-but all of us? If it had just been him screwing around with some escort I would have been upset, but I could have forgiven him. But letting Hasu get kidnapped and possibly molested by my ex-boyfriend and his former cell mate? When he knew and had known for a while that we were being targeted and had kept everything to himself? I couldn’t forgive that. I wouldn’t. After a moment I realized Sora had led me back to the couch and made me sit down. Hasu laid his head over on my knee, his brown eyes somber as he glanced up at me. “Ryuu . . . I’m okay. He didn’t-he didn’t do what you think. Please don’t be mad at Kenta he came to-” “Guys, Kenta got arrested.” Reiko burst into the apartment startling me. I hadn’t realized she’d left. She slammed the door behind her and took a deep breath. “Naoki named him as an accomplice. The cops picked him up at his apartment and he’s in jail now.” “They can’t do that!” I jumped started by Hasu’s outburst. “Sora we have to leave right now. Reiko where is the station. God damn it get up! We have to go now!” I blinked a few times never having seen Hasu in such a state before. He was on his feet, the bruising livid against his pale skin, but his eyes were sharp and dared any of us to disagree with him. Sora and I looked at each other. I shrugged, not sure what else to do. Hasu never demanded anything. Except food. We arrived at the police station about half an hour later. I hung back as the others headed in, Hasu in the lead. Sora was right behind Hasu, but kept looking back at me as if he wasn’t sure who he should stay with. I waved him on. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to face Kenta yet or not. “Ryuu, come on.” Reiko took my arm, gently pulling me forward. “I think you need to hear what Hasu has to say.” In the end none of us got to hear what Hasu told the detectives. They took him to a private room. We sat outside the station on the steps, none of us really talking for the hour he was gone. Sora was the first to see him when he came out. “Hasu! How did it . . . Kenta?” I got up turning to see Kenta standing behind Hasu. A stab of pain shot through me seeing him bandaged and bloody. Though that wasn’t what really caught my attention. He wouldn’t look at us. His eyes focused on the ground. Hasu on the other hand was beaming. “I told them everything that happened. They had to let Kenta go because he didn’t have anything to do with it. In fact Rame tried to-“ Hasu stopped looking back at Kenta who had put a hand on his shoulder. He shook his head slightly and Hasu nodded. “Anyway, we can go home now! Everything is better . . . right?” Hasu was looking at me. I started up the stairs and stopped in front of him and Kenta. Kenta didn’t even look up. It irritated me. He’d gone and been his usual bull headed self and it had gotten all of us hurt. “Kenta.” He finally raised his head, our eyes meeting. The pain in them was raw and it would have been easy to let it sway my decision except that Hasu was right there, bruises and all. No it was too late. “You are fired.”

brohne
Kenta I stared at Ryuu. “What?” He raised his eyebrows at me his voice hard. “You heard me.” He turned to walk back down the stairs and I rushed to stop him, grabbing his arm. “Ryuu, why-“ I rocked back a step, the side of my face on fire. Ryuu jerked away from me, his glare hurting almost as bad as my face. He’d just fucking slapped me. I blinked several times as his face blurred. I’d been punched, kicked, beaten with a baseball bat, tazered, cut, and stabbed, so why did this pain hurt so much worse? No beating I’d ever endured had prepared me for this kind of agony. It wasn’t that the slap didn’t hurt. It fucking did. What hurt worse was the fact that he’d actually fucking hit me. He’d never once, ever been mad enough at me to hit me. Knowing he was that upset with me was fucking painful in way I wasn’t ready for. “Don’t touch me. You think I’d forgive you so easily for pulling this kind of shit Arakaki?” “Ryuu please! Don’t be mad at Kenta.” “Shut up Hasu. This has nothing to do with you.” I wanted to say something, anything, but no words came. They couldn’t get passed the horrible pain that was making breathing next to impossible. Ryuu was still talking but I couldn’t really tell what he was saying over the pounding in my ears. I didn’t understand. Why would he fire me? Why was he so upset? I’d said I was sorry. I’d tried so hard to keep them all safe. I know I hadn’t been able to protect them like I should have, but fuck . . . “ . . . Are you even listening to me?” I looked up, Ryuu’s grey eyes harder than granite. He crossed his arms over his chest. “I asked you a question.” “Oh . . .” He sighed. “Never mind. I don’t care anymore. Nakamara will send you your last paycheck.” Was this really fucking happening? “Wait, Ryuu-I don’t understand . . .” “Of course you don’t.” I flinched at Ryuu’s biting tone, the ache in my chest getting sharper, threatening to break through the thin wall I was just barely keeping up. “You are such an idiot. I don’t know why you thought trying to do all this yourself was a good idea. Why do you have to be so fucking bull headed and stubborn? If you’d just admitted you needed help-fuck it. I’m done with you. I’m done with wondering when or if you’ll come home. I’m not going to be cheated on by some fucking illiterate thug who can’t even do the one fucking job he’s got. Give me your phone.” I was shaking, but I couldn’t stop it. Why was he doing this to me in front of everyone? It was humiliating. I’d never thought he could be so cruel. Pulling my phone out of my pocket I held it out not looking up. He snatched it out of my hand. He messed with it for a minute then handed it back. “Alright guys, let’s go. We’ve got better things to do.” Numb I stared down at my phone. He’d deleted his numbers, both his cell and his house number. This was it. He was breaking up with me. “R-Ryuu . . .” I gulped not sure what to do when my voice cracked. “I’m done talking to you Arakaki.” “Please Ryuu-“ I couldn’t talk anymore. My throat wouldn’t let the words out. “Shit Ryuu! This is too much!” Sora’s voice washed over me, but I was too drained to do anything but stand there. It was like I was back in the apartment the day I lost Ayame, I was losing everything all over again. I’d tried so hard but it was useless. I was useless. I’d failed Ryuu, failed Hasu, failed Ayame. I was nothing but a fucking failure. “Fuck Ryuu . . . do you have to be so mean.” I slowly realized I was alone standing on the sidewalk in front of the police station. My whole body shaking and I felt like puking. I glanced up as a shadow fell over me. Sora’s smile was pained as he looked at me. “Kenta . . . Kenta come on. I’ll talk to Ryuu, please stop crying.” “-m n-not crying.” “Sure, okay.” Taking my arm, Sora led me to a small café and had me sit down at a table in the very back. Everything felt completely unreal. I looked over at Sora, finally feeling the wetness on my face. Wiping it away I tried to get a handle on myself. “He broke up with me.” “Yeah he did.” “Why?” Sora shook his head and reaching over brushed some hair back from my face. “He’s just really upset and hurt right now Kenta. He still thinks you were cheating on him, all the stuff with Naoki aside.” “No! Not fucking ever.” “You don’t have to yell at me Kenta, I know. Hasu told me what happened. How you tried to help him. Now just try to calm down and breathe. Things will be okay I promise.” I nodded feeling light headed, yet also too heavy to move. I had to fix this. I couldn’t leave it like this, with Ryuu thinking I’d cheated on him. I loved him. I loved him and I didn’t ever want to be without him. I covered my face with my hands as another round of sobs overtook me. I’d lost so much in my life and I wasn’t about to lose Ryuu. I’d kill someone first. I hadn’t cried once since the day I’d found my sister dead. It seemed I was making up for lost time cause I cried till I puked then I cried some more. Sora was there through it all talking to me, trying to calm me down and getting me water when I needed it. I was really glad he’d taken me somewhere half way private so I wasn’t making a total ass of myself. I finally ended up sitting curled up in the chair clutching the water bottle Sora had given me. I was so fucking furious with myself it wasn’t even funny. “I gotta fix it Sora.” “Kenta . . . honestly I’ve never seen Ryuu this upset. He’s hurt and angry and feels betrayed. He’s not going to listen to reason until he calms down.” I nodded, my head feeling like someone had stuffed it full of spiked lead balls. My stomach hurt and just thinking of Ryuu made the pressure in my chest swell until it threatened to choke me. I gasped softly as I was suddenly being hugged by the big redhead. “Kenta . . . I am so sorry things turned out this way. I can’t stand to see you this upset.” Sora’s voice was soft. “I’m sorry Ryuu was so hateful about everything. You are the best thing that has ever happened to him and he knows it. Once he calms down and listens to Hasu, he’ll apologize. I know he will.” “I need to go talk to him. I have to tell him what really happened.” Sora let me go and sat back. He took a breath and slowly blew it out. “If you think so Kenta. Don’t expect him to listen at first though.” “I know.” *** I rode the bus over to Ryuu’s apartment. The setting sun was reflected in the windows of the different apartments as I got off the bus. I wondered if I should even bother going up. Ryuu's apartment felt more like home now than anywhere I'd ever lived and the thought of never going back there sent a sick hollow feeling through me. I headed inside trying to think of ways I could make things up to Ryuu. It was not going to be easy. Everyone distrusted me now and I knew that was going to take a long time to fix. I was staring at the floor as I got into the elevator and didn't look up as someone joined me. A soft snicker make me look up and I nearly gasped in shock, my hand instantly going to the knife on my belt. Rame never gave me a chance to pull it. Grabbing me around the neck he slammed me into the back wall of the elevator. "I was looking for you." I tried to fight him, but it was like I had no strength left. I found himself marched out of the elevator and to the door of Ryuu's apartment. "Open it." Rame’s breath was hot on my ear and I jerked my head to the side. "You have to let go of me." I managed from between clenched teeth. The grip on my wrists lessened and I winced as I was able to bring my arms down from where they had been twisted up behind my back. I was already trying to formulate a plan. If only I still had my knife but it was on the floor of the elevator. My fingers trembled slightly as I unlocked the door. Rame didn't give me a chance to open it, grabbing my arm and shoving the door open himself. I stumbled into the apartment, trying to right myself. I shifted getting into a fighting stance only to have Rame laugh at me. "You really think you can fight me in your condition? Pathetic. What does that idiot singer see in you anyway?" I blocked the punch to my face and deflected the one aimed at my ribs, but I was already worn down and exhausted. Rame wasn’t. I yelped as the next punch sent me sprawling, cracking my head on the tile. I struggled to get my eyes to focus as Rame leaned down over me. "You've got a lot of payback coming your way, bitch." Rame’s chuckle made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I flailed trying to get loose. "Struggle all you want Kenta. It turns me on."

brohne
Horror Ryuu Getting out of the limo I stood outside the apartment building for a while. It was cold outside and the sunset was now marred by encroaching clouds. I need time to think and the coldness of the air helped clear my head. Hasu had explained everything on the limo ride from the police station. The sick hollowed out feeling from earlier had been replaced with a vile sense of self loathing. It was partly from the meeting I’d just had with Nakamara, but mostly from knowing just how royally I’d screwed up. I had to do it though. I had to fire him. Though breaking up with him had been sheer impulse driven by anger and frustration. I really could have handled things better, especially knowing what I knew now. Rubbing a hand over my face, I dragged in a deep breath. I didn’t know what to do. It was all too much right now. I need to go home and relax, or at least try to. My apartment didn’t exactly feel like the safest place anymore. Not after what had happened. Shivering, I shoved my hands into my jacket pockets and turned toward the apartment building. I’d done some stupid things before, but never anything that had made me feel so lost and hopeless as I did now. How could I break up with the one person who’d loved me for me? “So fucking stupid.” My phone rang. It was Sora. A very pissed off Sora. I had to hold the phone away from my head as he yelled. “You are the biggest fucking idiot this side of the Pacific! I can’t believe you broke up with him like that! Do you know where I’ve been for the last fucking hour? Watching Kenta sob his heart out! Kenta! The one person who fucking loves you more than anything and even nearly got himself killed for you! What are you thinking or did all that hairspray finally fry your brain? You better beg him to come back when he gets there, you hear me! If you don’t I’ll personally come kick your ass.” Wait . . . Kenta was coming here? “He’s coming here?” “Yes you idiot, he wants to make things right.” Sora’s voice was finally down to a reasonable volume though he still sounded pissed. I was too stunned to even react to his tirade. “He’s absolutely devastated Ryuu. He cried so much he puked. Did Hasu talk to you?” “Yeah.” It came out more as a croak than a word. “Good. Now go fix this please. Kenta should be there any minute.” I hung up. I was shaking, my stomach doing weird flips. Turning away from the street I practically ran into the apartment building. I punched the up button for the elevator several times, anxious to get to my apartment. I’d just stepped inside when I spotted something on the floor. Frowning, I bent down to pick it up and sucked in a startled breath. I knew this knife. This was the one Kenta kept on his belt. He must already be here. But why was his knife on the elevator floor? He was never without them and it couldn’t have just fallen out of its sheath either. A knot of worry tightened my gut. Clutching the blade I waited for the elevator to stop on my floor. The smooth edges of the handle fit my palm perfectly and I could barely feel the weight of the blade itself. Just holding it was both disturbing and exhilarating. When I stepped out of the elevator the hall was quiet. The light over head was out for some reason and I hesitated before walking toward my door. I stood there for a moment staring at it. It was ajar. Kenta was always careful to make sure it was closed. Pushing it open I peered inside. Something seemed off. That was when I spotted the blood on the floor. I froze as something crashed in the other room, a muffled yell just barely reaching me. What the hell was going on? I was gripping the knife so hard it was hurting my fingers. “Get the fu-“ The rest was cut off by a scream of pain, jolting me. I flattened myself against the hallway wall. That voice. Kenta. Oh god Kenta. I forced myself away from the wall and belatedly noticed the bloody hand print smeared on it. I clapped a hand over my mouth as I gagged a wave of dizziness threatening to send me to my knees. Kenta was hurt. Oh fuck. Another voice assaulted my ears and I shuddered. Oh no . . . no . . . no, please-please don’t let it be Rame. The door to the bedroom was ajar, light spilling out into the hallway. Terrified beyond reason, I crept closer. I had to do something, anything to keep him from hurting Kenta. The door swung open with a single nudge and I stood there too shocked to move at first. I couldn’t even see the floor for the clothes littering it, broken furniture jutted out of the mess like tips of icebergs in a sea of debris. My attention snapped to the bed. It was stripped down to the mattress and my beautiful cream silk sheets had been ripped to shreds. Ribbons of silk were tied to the headboard and snaked down to the flailing figure on the bed. Kenta was tied in a vulgar attempt at shibari that looked more painful than artistic. He was visibly struggling to breathe, his arms nearly hyper- extended behind him. What was even more disturbing was the figure kneeling over him. Kenta kicked at him only to get hit, his legs spread and pinned. Before I could move Rame shoved whatever was in his hand into Kenta. The resulting scream from my lover nearly paralyzed me. I had to stop this. One second I was in the doorway, the next I was at the bed thrusting the knife hilt deep into Rame’s back. He grunted, twisting around. Then I was hitting the floor, my head spinning. A foot slammed into my ribs, knocking the air out of my lungs. Searing pain jolted through me as he grabbed me by the hair dragging me up. Hate filled eyes glared at me for a moment before he backhanded me. “You little bitch. I’ll take care of you now.” “No, Rame . . . please, leave him alone . . . please . . .” Kenta was sobbing, the sound completely unnatural to me. Kenta didn’t cry. Not my strong, confident, beautiful Kenta. Rame laughed the look in his eyes sending a darkening spiral of terror through me. “Fine, I’ll leave him alone, but you have to do something in return.” Looking passed Rame I saw Kenta nod. “Okay, just don’t hurt him.” I was tossed to the floor like a dirty rag. How could the man still be moving with a knife in his back? As he turned back to the bed, I could see the blood running down his back. Part of me was horrified that I’d stabbed someone, the other was furious that it had done no good. Rame stumbled. “What the hell?” He turned to look at me. “What did you hit me with . . .” Realizing that it was now or never, I grabbed up the splintered off table leg and charged him. The first hit barely seemed to faze him, but he was slowing down. I ducked avoiding his lunge and stabbed the jagged end into his ribs. It was his turn to scream. The next several minutes were a blur of blood and screaming. I blinked several times staggering as I looked down at the bloody mess at my feet. The hilt of the knife was still there. Reaching down I yanked it out. “Serve you right fucker.” I kicked him in the ribs and promptly fell on the bed. Kenta was staring at me. Dark eyes impossibly wide and fixed. “R-Ryuu . . .” “I think I killed him.” “Yeah . . . fuck that was fucking awesome.”
