"I hit it?! I didn't mean to!" Kaname yelled back but as he watched this all happen his eyes fell to the child. "Shit!"

 

Jumping in the water he swam until he caught the boy. Leaning back he used his swimming classes that day. Finally getting to shore he was helped up by the boys family, "thank you so much! You were like a fast water demon."

 

"Uh...no not a demon just a good swimmer," he then turned to Inuyasha and frowned. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to break it."

Inuyasha turned to Kaname and glared at him. Things were not going as planned and he didn't understand it. "How do you accidently hit a jewel with an arrow?! Let's go see if the old hag can fix it."

Kaname sighed and turned towards the village but it would be a long walk unless Inuyasha ran them back, "it's not like I tried to hit it directly. I've never shot an arrow before in my life."

"Then why did you do it?! You shoulda left it alone!" Inuyasha growled before dragging Kaname over his shoulder again and sprinting back to the village. He was not in the mood for a slow walk. "You better pray the old hag can fix this!"

"Ow! Hey! The kids was in danger! It's not like you could reach it anyway!" Kaname smacked his fists against Inuyasha back. "Don't carry me so roughly!"

"Learn how to aim!" Inuyasha growled and kept running as he looked ahead. It wasn't long before they arrived in the village. He stopped at Kaede's hut and dropped Kaname on the ground in front of him.

"Ooff!" Kaname slowly stood rubbing his bum. "You're not nice..."

 

He stepped inside the hut where Kaede was waiting. She looked up at the two, "So it's shattered."

 

Kaname sighed as he gently sat down, "I didn't mean to."

 

"Either way you two will have to work together to get the pieces back."

 

"But I need to go home..." Kaname sighed softly.

"Ch. Show up and shatter the jewel, then leave. Typical human." Inuyasha entered and took a seat by the fire. He sat criss cross and leaned on his elbow. "What can this brat do anyway, old hag?"

"I can come back! I think..." Kaname almost said that magic word but let it slide for now.

 

Kaede stirred the soup on the pot above the fire, "this brat is infused with spiritual powers. It's strange because typically only a Miko would have such powers. Not that there aren't men with strong powers but this feels different. He feels strong like my sister. You said you repelled the creature in the well. You also shot an arrow with a sacred glow. Seems you have spiritual powers you have yet to harness." She filled bowls for them to eat out of and set the bowls down by both of them to eat. "Kaname can see the jewel like my sister could and you're strong enough to help take down the demons you'll surely come across. You'll have to work together."

 

Kaname looked over at Inuyasha, "you don't have another guy I could work with?" He tried to sound as annoyed as possible but in all honesty he was afraid to get involved with a different demon. This guy was brash, loud and arrogant but at least he didn't try to really hurt anyone.

"Like I want to be stuck with a boy." Inuyasha shook his head and picked up the food. He sniffed it a moment before eating it quickly. He felt as though he was starving. "I guess it can't be helped though. It's not like there are many out there that can do what I can."

Kaname couldn't believe how far they've come since then. Gaining friends along the way and many enemies. Kikyo's corpse was brought back and a piece of Kaname's soul was added to it. She had tried to kill him on that fateful night but Kaname save him from being dragged into hell. She now left and walked the forests and towns helping where she could.

 

 

Inuyasha had gained Tetsusaiga from his father grave and cut off his brothers arm with it. Sesshoumaru was livid and sought to defeat his brother or gain a sword of his own since he couldn't physical wield Tetsusaiga.

 

 

They gained three companions along the way. Miroku a perverted monk who helped them collect money and places to stay. Sango who lost his little brother but then was forced to fight him again because of Naraku. Then Shippo who lost her father to the thunder brothers. Each were linked together because of a terrible thing Naraku had done to them.

 

 

In their little camp in the woods Kaname stirred the pot of food he was making that his mother made for him to bring to the other side. He was able to move back and forth fairly easily it seemed. He was starting to struggle with some of his thoughts. It had to be because he was reincarnated from Kikyo, that's what he wanted to blame it on at least. These feelings for Inuyasha kept growing stronger every day, but after he found out Kikyo's dying wish had been to see the hanyo again he worried that those feelings were in him now.

 

The Shikon no tama pieces he kept in his pocket were safe away for the moment but it did attract attention to them sometimes. Although hiding behind Inuyasha's strength had become a regular thing for him. Over time he was learning how to control his spiritual powers and even aim better with the bow.

 

Stirring the food Kaname looked over at Inuyasha. The sun hadn't rose yet so the others were still sleeping not far from them. They heard of a powerful demon a town over and were making their way to find out if they could help and hopefully find a shard. He'd learn quickly their favorite foods and snacks that he could bring over. Seemed Inuyasha didn't like spice, probably because of his sensitive senses. He chuckled as he remember Shippo trying a lolly pop for the first time and was so happy she squealed.

 

"Breakfast is almost ready, Inuyasha."

"Nnh..." Inuyasha was staring out at the horizon. He had drifted off with his own thoughts. Their journey had brought them far. He wondered what had changed in that time. He still held feelings deep for the woman that haunted his dreams, but one who carried her soul left him wavering. He turned away from the sky and looked over at Kaname. "What were you thinking about? It's rare for you to be so quiet."

"Just about how far we've come," Kaname sighed softly. "I guess because mid-terms are coming up at school. We've already traveled together for about three months. Just so much has happened." He looked back over at Inuyasha noticing the nice glow from the fire in his eyes.

"Ch... has that all its been?" Inuyasha got up and moved closer before taking a seat. He looked up to meet Kaname's gaze and quickly looked to the food. "Are you missing it? School I mean. You usually fuss about it."

Kaname looked to Inuyasha and at the same time turned his gaze to the food stirring it again. His heart skipped a beat when their eyes met then and he prayed Inuyasha's senses hadn't noticed, "sometimes I do but it's just the constant pressure to get good grades while being here. Not that I don't like being here." He looked back to Inuyasha trying to explain. It wasn't like he didn't like them.

Inuyasha looked up and met Kaname's gaze. It was a moments delay before he smirked and pointed at himself. "You'd miss me if you stayed away too long. I knew you had a soft spot for me since we met."

"Oh please, you're the impatient one that comes to get me every time I go back home," Kaname turned his head away and smirked himself. "Maybe I would. I've grown used to you."

"Used to me? What does that mean?" Inuyasha frowned for a moment before narrowing his gaze and twitching his ear in irritation. "I am not impatient. I clearly am just really good at my job and take great care for the jewel."

Kaname chuckled softly and looked back at Inuyasha, "No I'm teasing you. You're so easy to pick on." He blushed a little and stirred the soup again. "I enjoy your company Inuyasha. I like being by your side."

"Ah... I... I'll have you know, Kaname, I am not easy to tease!" Inuyasha blushed as he turned his gaze to the food. He could feel the heat burning in his cheeks as he tried focusing on not giving away his inner thoughts. "You should try teasing someone else."

Kaname couldn't help it he started laughing softly to not stir the others. Reaching into his bag he grabbed out the snack bag he found that Inuyasha liked the last time he brought them. He held it up for him to take and blushed a little, "you don't seem to mind my company."

Inuyasha peeked up and smiled before taking the snack and looking to Kaname. He kind of trailed in thought as he stared at the teen. This kid had made a great impact on his life. "I dont. I think you-"

 

Sango leaned between them and smelled the food with a small smile. "Mm... it smells good, Kaname. What were you two discussing?"

"WAH!" Kaname pushed himself away from Inuyasha in shock. "W-W-Well I made-my mom-made I! Soup. J-Just soup." He couldn't stop his cheek from turning redder.

 

"Ah seems Kaname-sama made us all a lovely meal for the day," Miroku came over to sit next to Inuyasha. "We weren't interrupting were we?" Honestly they were deep into each others lives. Miroku could see the connection between Kaname and Inuyasha but couldn't see his own forming between him and Sango.

 

Shippo yawned as she crawled over to them and slumped on Kaname's lap, "but it's still so early..."

Inuyasha squeaked and turned red as he jumped to his feet. "I... I'm going to patrol!" The half demon grabbed his snack and the tetsusaiga before walking over to a tree and jumping up to sit on one of the branches.

 

Santo watched Inuyasha go before settling next to Kaname. He smiled and held a bowl up. "Breakfast sounds perfect. Miroku, don't be so rude. Clearly they were discussing something."

Kaname watched Inuyasha go and sighed softly. He felt the connection and no matter how many times he tried to deny it he couldn't get past that there was a connection between them. They seemed to connect and understand each other on many levels. It was hard to understand since he had only had friendships with people up to this point. Inuyasha was the first to cause him to pause.

 

"I know they were," Miroku reached into the bag to grab out his drink that he liked. "Kaname, have you two finally decided to admit your feelings?"

 

"F-Feelings?!" Kaname tensed and turned even more red.

 

Shippo yawned and curled up on Sango instead since today it seemed Kaname was full of energy.
