  • Bright lights
  • Strong scented flowers

Bio:

Amber is from a tribe of elves are aligned with specifics poisons. He and his brother are attached to toxic element, mercury. The tribe is very well hidden, but due to an attack on the village, Amber and his brother lost their sister and parents. Amber himself received a scar on his back from the attack, but he doesn't remember getting it. Unfortunately, the two brothers never got along simply due to their radically different personalities, so Amber considers his entire family dead. The only people that he really spends his time with are two best friends, Pezzo and Lapis, who are just as tricky as he is. The three are like brothers, but Pezzo and Lapis tend to travel often so Amber doesn't always see them. Amber never found the people who attacked his village, but those events led him to lead a mischievous life. There was never anyone to depend on him and no one for him to depend on, so responsibility is not something he is familiar with.

Extra (languages known, societal status, favorite food, anything at all):

- He is able to cover his skin in hardened mercury.

- He can materialize and control liquid mercury. It's his main weapon if he is forced to fight (though he doesn't like fighting).

- Though mercury cannot kill him he is still susceptible to other poisons.

The stars seemed brighter tonight than usual.

That wasn’t true.

Amber never bothered to admire the stars, so he couldn’t tell if they were brighter than usual or not. He wasn’t someone who found stargazing an engaging sport. Normally he would be running around playing pranks or eating with his friends or doing anything that was less boring than looking at the night sky. Yet here he was. The grass was soft and damp from a light rain that drizzled out only about an hour earlier. He rested his arms behind his head and crossed one leg over the other as he tried to find constellations that his friends seemed so keen on looking for. Of course there was nothing. There was never anything. Even when his friends pointed them out to him he never saw those damn constellations.

A sigh escaped him as he closed his eyes. This boredom would drive him to the grave. Perhaps if he just fell asleep something fun would be waiting for him when he woke up. Before he drifted off, his body turned silver as his skin turned into hardened mercury. It was his first line of defense if something tried to attack him. He never slept before making sure his mercury was out to protect him. With his armor now surrounding him he didn't find it hard to fall asleep.

Bio:

Gaia is apart of an elite elvish village hidden deep within the mountains. He enjoys a silent life other than a warring village not to far away. Gaia was praised the most when his mother was alive. She used to hold him and tell him stories and tell him of all the great things he would do when he was chief. When he was 13 his mother went into labor with his brother and she didn't make it through. Ever since his father sort of hated him and praised his little brother who looks the most like his mother. He was in turn an outcast though he is still heir to the village. To make things worse Gaia, unlike most of the elves, holds an affinity for spirit which is very very rare. Most of the time it is simplistic elements that are commonly found on the earth however, spirit is unbinding and often misunderstood. He works well with it and often accompanies others into the afterlife and can even bring unready souls from it. It is useful and he enjoys it, he can pass into the spirit world if he so pleases and sometimes he does so to speak to his mother.

~~

Gaia slid out from under the tarp that worked as a door to his small home and dipped under a branch. He headed toward his small clearing where he liked to venture into his spirit realm and speak with his mother. His father had been exceptionally horrible today making him work overtime with the children of the clan as well as his brother. His younger brother was working extra hard with his own element and often liked to practice with Gaia around to watch him. He didn't mind it of course but sometimes he just needed a break from his family. He loved his mother and he believed he was most like her so as he tramped through the forest thats the only thing that was on his mind.

The stars were bright in the sky and the moon shown to light a path through the underbrush. There was a trail that ran right to his small clearing from having been traveled so often. It was probably an hour or two walk from the village, safe and discrete. Though this time he veered off his trail and headed deeper into the forest wanting to make a pitstop at the small waterfall first. As he did so his mind raced wondering what all he could speak to his mother about tonight. He was relativaly 20 now in human years and he figured that his birthday was coming around the corner. He could feel it, something inside of him was just letting him know. There was a sort of chill tonight and as he slid his arms through the hanging vines he shivered.

His unknowing body trampsed through the forest almost silent in the night. It wasn't until he heard a soft sigh did he turn. His eyes instantly caught on another person and he dropped like he had been shot. His head peered up and over a bush as a silver skinned person(?) lay before him. This was odd, no one was ever outside this late at night and he didn't recognize the outline of the body. He moved a little closer realizing that the figure was...either thinking really hard or fast asleep. Would he notice him? Or could Gaia slide through the night unnoticed by whoever this person was?

It wasn’t long before Amber’s sleep was disturbed. Amber didn’t have the most keen hearing and he wasn’t someone who could spot danger at a moment’s notice, but sometimes he would notice changes in the air around him. Sometimes his instincts jumped into action and warned him of anything unusual around him. In his calm and sleepy state, these instincts kicked into high gear. Before he knew it, Amber was sitting upright, looking around for whoever had suddenly made their way towards him.

His eyes trailed the area around him. It looked towards the horizon, into the dark trees, down the empty path… There was nothing. Or rather there was the illusion of nothing. Amber knew there was another someone near him. There was another person hiding in the shadows. All Amber had to do was make a decision: did he fish out this other person or try and run from them?

The logical thing to do would be to run, but curiosity was something Amber was never able to escape. Besides, this would most certainly kill his boredom. A crooked smile crossed his face as an idea formed in his mind. He slowly stood as he continued to scan the area and suddenly began whistling. His whistle was high pitched and long; it was annoying, but not harmful to the ears. He let his whistle flow into the night, then let it eventually die into the quiet air.

“Come out,” he said, when he finished whistling. He crossed his arms over his chest as he spoke. “I know you’re here so come out now. It would be better for you if you did. That whistle was more than just a pretty sound. It was a call. I’ve called my friends, one or two hungry wolves, here. If they find you I’m sure they’ll have great time devouring you. If you show yourself, though, then I’ll make sure to keep you safe from them.”

Of course it was a lie. There were wolves in the forest, but none of them belonged to Amber and he certainly couldn’t call one with a whistle. But lying was something Amber was good at, and if it got this person to come out of hiding then he was more than happy to do it.

A soft whistle filled the night air as Gaia watched the man before him wake up and slowly start to realize that someone was hiding in the night. It was a chilly evening and Gaia could feel the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. The explanation however caused the tall male to laugh out loud.

He covered his mouth and realized that this man was no threat. "Call wolves huh? Funny... I feel none coming. You are lying, not even those who feel other beings can call them to their biding."

His voice was like silk as his tall figure emerged from the woods. His white hair cascaded down his chest and he leaned lightly against a tree.

"Who told you that animals would seek to please you?" he tilted a head and pushed off the tree. His body was soon only a few feet from the other as his eyes started to quickly analyze the other.

He was wearing different clothing, his hair was different, his body language and speech were even different than that of Gaia's.

"Where do you come from? You do not have the same likes as me.." he peered down into the others face wondering why he was so intrigued by his new being.

Gaia sent out his energy as he tried to understand the unique stranger before him. He felt this mans very soul and he quickly pulled away for his body felt a jolt of resistance. Almost like he couldn't read this other man if he was unwilling to give his soul out to read. Most beings left their soul unarmed and often didn't realize they could keep it out of harms way. This was odd to him for only a certain tribe was aware there was a spirit weilder in the area and only one tribe would know how to keep their souls hidden from this person.

The elf was confused as he slowly walked around the male in front of him. His body was tense and unyielding as his muscles stood on edge. He was practically naked compared to the stranger who wore cloth from head to two covering even his rather attractive face from the moons light. That was something else he didn't understand, the moon was their mother and yet he was hiding from her? How odd? His curiosity peeked and suddenly getting to his clearing didn't matter so much and the thought of speaking to his mother slipped from his mind.

Amber raised his eyebrow at the laugh at surrounded him. A breathy, charming voice followed the amused laugh, and what followed that made the young elf’s eyes grow wide. He didn’t expect the person hiding to be so handsome, so ethereal, so out-of-this-realm that Amber thought for a moment he had died and was looking at the being that would carry him to the afterlife. His awe and admiration showed clearly on his face, though he pretended it didn’t. He smiled as the man spoke and seemed to appear right next to him without having even walked.

“Of course I’m lying,” Amber said, keeping his eyes trained on this man. “But I got the same results in the end, didn’t I? You showed yourself, and that’s exactly what I wanted.” Now what? Now that he had garnered this man’s attention and his amusement, what should he do now?

"Where do you come from? You do not have the same likes as me.."

It seemed the man wanted to strike up a conversation. Surely, Amber wasn’t that interesting. A few moments passed with Amber saying nothing. He simply kept his eye on the other, suspicion etched on his face. “And you don’t have the same likes as me, but you don’t see me getting into your business.” Perhaps the question of where he lived was asked out of simple curiosity and nothing more. Amber knew what it was like to be curious and he understood the innocence of it, but he would be hard-pressed to answer this man’s question. His village was hidden. It was a secret and after the last attack on it, he wouldn’t simply spout out to any stranger where he was from.

There was something about this man that kept Amber standing where he was rather than running off. Now that his curiosity was satisfied he should have been ready to go and find something else to entertain him. Not that there was anything else as entertaining as this man, but he had no reason to stick around. Still, this man was fascinating to him in a sense. At least until he felt him in a way that was most unwelcome. Amber gasped and slowly backed away when he felt the other attempt to reach his soul. There weren’t many who could do that and it didn’t comfort Amber to know that he found someone who had that ability. He already knew how to protect himself from someone like that, but he steeled himself anyway and made it even harder for his soul to be reached.

“I’m bored now,” he said quickly, turning away from this mysterious man. “Why don’t you just head on to wherever it was you were going? I’m done with you.” Amber waved his hand dismissively, regretting pulling this man from his hiding place. How was he supposed to know he was of… That clan?

The hard cut answer he received caused another smile to form on his face. "No need to be rude, was simply curious as to where you have travelled from. This is deep in the forest.." he spoke easy not really caring for the mean tone in the others voice.

Gaia tilted his head a little at the soft gasp that filled the small clearing they stood in. After the boy got guarded and seemed to want nothing to do with him. "Bored? I highly doubt that...forgive me for prying. My gut instinct is to slide into what I know yet...you're guarded unlike others." he said with a gentle sigh. "You...can dismiss me for my origin and you will be like everyone else. I wouldn't hurt you let alone tell my clan of your wherabouts. If that was my intention I would have brought them here already." he said and stepped back toward where he had come.

"If you wish it of me I will go, though I am sorry for touching my spirit to yours. It is merely habit." he said gently and bowed before moving to leave the man he had just met. He was never scared of this other clan that his father was. He was an outcast in his own village why would he treat others in such a way? He didn't really know what to say to him if he did ask him to stay but something deep inside of him wished that the small man across the clearing would stop him from leaving. A small notion that he was wanted even if it was for a small amount of time.
