Looking for Bl novels with a specific plot.. Could anybody help me?

Hello everyone:)

I'm very new to the whole BL novels world (literally just a few days in), and I would really love some help to navigate it.

I wanted to ask if you know of any novels that would fit into the following categories (in other words, adhere to my very specific kinks:):

1) An omegaverse (shifters or whatever it is called) story with an omega that is not pathetic? The few stories that I've read so far mostly feature an omega that happily submits to an alpha the first chance he gets. Even omegaverse djs have more characterisation than some of the stories I've read so far.:(

2) A story about taking in a cute orphan baby/nephew/dead friends' son, taking good care of him, treating him like your own heir, only for him to grow up and decide to jump the caretaker? It's such a good old yaoi trope, but I have yet to encounter the novel version.

3) Something a bit messed up? Twisted in a best possible way?:) If it involves characters with suicidal thoughts/attempts, than that's even better!

4) Anything else that doesn't fit into aforementioned categories, but well-written, with a good plot and decent characterisation.

If you know of any novel that fits the description, I would really appreciate it if you help me.:)))

You haven't read it yet? I have just seen your list in the top 10 BL novels thread ,and it's not there:))) But I think I might start All's Fair tonight because of your recommendation:)

I also really enjoyed In the middle of nowhere series.. All three books are awesome.:)

No I haven't. It's about shapeshifters right? I have certain days & mood to read shapeshifter books haha not really a fan actually. That's why I tag Suida & Racheal in the first reply. They read more diverse MM books : )

Yeah, All Fairs. This I could talk more with you, if you want haha..

Yep, it's a shapeshifter one, but even with my little experience I could tell it was an unusual for its genre:)) But i get it - I personally cannot stand the historical settings..

I actually just downloaded All Fairs without reading anything about it.. is it more slice of life kind of thing? What kind of novels do you prefer reading? And yep, I would love love love to discuss it once I finish it:))

1) I have never read an omegaverse shifters or whatever it is called novel. And after googling 'omegaverse' which seems to be a synonym for Mpreg, I am pretty sure I will never read it. It's just not my genre.

2) Family isn't also my thing. I am sorry.

3) Messed up & Twisted is my thing.

Here are some I can recommend.

I switched to novels from yaoi manga and both family stuff and omegaverse are pretty acceptable and common over there.. But come to think of it, it might be a bit a bit more disturbing in a written form and in Western settings. Oh well... I would still read it.:)

Anyway, thank you for such a long list!! I'm incredibly excited to go through it!:Playing:

Hey!! I finished the first book and.. wow!! I LOVED it!

I really liked the fact that I think this book worked even if it wasn't gay romance.. I think I would have enjoyed it even if it was a simple mystery novel without any romance, and that's saying something - I've guessed the killer in the last 3 books I've read:) But not here, so it was nice for a change.:) But it also didn't go too deep into details, which I appreciated as well.:)

The main character was awesome - smart, snarky and not your typical bottom I guess :D

I liked Tucker as well, and their scenes together were quite hot..

And the dad.. Aaaa.. he was my favorite character! He brings out my inner hippie... I hope for more scenes with him in the future!!

What did you like about the book?

I'm looking forward to the sequel! There is one, right? Is it about the same character? I'm excited:)))

Thank you for your recommendation.. Any similar books? I'm very happy to discover this one:D

thank you for tagging me

Don't worry, thanks to your messages and this thread I have so many books on my to-read list that it will last me till Christmas!! So you can enjoy your holidays and write the recommendations when you have time, but I'm truly looking forward to them...^^

I'm not a fan of mpreg either, but I do like some hot shifters and some angsty omegaverse:) I don't care if it makes me disgusting human trash.^^

oh, i'm so glad you liked the series! i agree with you about everything haha... this series is one of my fave from josh lanyon. alongside holmes & moriarity series.

yes. me just like you, love elliot father a bit more than the main couple haha.. he's so cool. and i always love to read cool parents so this feels like a really great bonus i gotta read in the book.

about the mystery; yes you're right & i agree w you. i like reading josh lanyon mystery books bc the exact reason. it's not too details but it's kinda enough to build up anticipation. i love reading mystery but i sucked in solving them tho haha..

okay about the 4th book. there's no fourth book as far as i know :/ i know it's not fair (ironic). but i can recommend you other series which i think you might like it as well (if you don't, kick me in the ass haha). so how about you try:

- holmes & moriarity series

- the art of murder series

- the adrien english mystery series (this one is the most popular one among JL fans but not me. i'll tell you why after you read them haha)

ps: just like

Hi

I would like to recommend you some of the books that you're looking for. These are the first ones that I could think of:

1) for omegaverse, I recommend Kingdom of Askara series by Victoria Sue (there are three books so far: "The Alpha King", "The Alpha Heir", and "The Alpha Prince"). I also like her Enhanced series, although it's not omegaverse.

As for other omegaverse books, I have to delve into my collections more and sort them out. Frankly, I forget which is which and whose is whose because there are so many of them which have almost similar titles, names, plots, and characterizations... So frustrating! *Hands up*

For non-mpreg shifter genre, aside from "Wolfsong" by TJ Klune, I also recommend The Wolfkin Saga series (two books in total: "Wolves of Black Pines" and "Wolf of the Northern Star") by SJ Himes. They're my favorite re-read, sooo good!

2) I haven't read anything similar to that trope, I'm sorry.

3)

has already mentioned some of the wonderful books ("Stealing Innocents", so dark and twisted, I loved it!). You can also read:

- literally anything by Kol Anderson and Quil Carter

- "Cafe Blue" by J. Carter Swift

4) If you like Josh Lanyon's writings (as recommended by

), I also recommend "Can't Hide From Me" and Seven Spades series (one book so far which is called "Kill Game"; the rest will be published in every three months) by Cordelia Kingsbridge. She's so into characterizations (just check out her Tumblr) and that's why she's one of my favorite authors of all time. I also recommend her original M/M which you can find on AO3 under the same pen name if you're into BDSM ;)

That's all for now. If you want more, just tell me ^^
