brohne
I stand here on your street My heart like ice, my love for you frozen These crystal tears fall at my feet I never wanted to hurt you Never meant to desert you I came to apologize knowing it's too late As I stand here among the snowflakes I am so tired of this fate This cold heart of mine is breaking Slowly shattering into slivers of red It is your memory that I am desecrating I don't belong here, never did But my love for you won't let me leave As I stand here trying to keep my heart hid I never wanted to hurt you Never meant to desert you These softly falling flakes Are cold little reminders that I am alone Alone because of my mistakes I tried for so long And even if it's not meant to be I will never give in even if I am wrong I cannot let go of these shattered pieces Even as they start to melt and slip away My love for you never decreases I never meant to hurt you Never meant to desert you This gentle winter breeze Is a subtle reminder of your touch And the way it made me fall by degrees These tears won't fade away They are frozen drops of my misery At being unable to stop this slow decay Did I need to try so hard To keep this heart whole When you broke through catching me off guard I never meant to hurt you Never meant to desert you This winter soul craves The love only you can give The love that saves This coldness takes my breath Makes me tremble in fear This could end in my death I would gladly welcome it If it meant I was able to be close to you To feel your warmth even for a bit. I never meant to hurt you Never meant to desert you. All I wanted was to hold you close Yet this frozen heart of mine Never let me disclose The flakes of snow surround me Cloaking me in a cold embrace This love was never meant to be Is this what I wanted To be alone in this white To always be shunted I never meant to hurt you Never meant to desert you Don't be concerned over me These cold tears will fall and be lost So pay no heed to my plea I will say it once only And for all time it will echo These words will forever be lonely This hope undreamed of Is to tell this to you It is you I love

lilredphoenix
Isn't something that the seasons/weather can also describe feelings and emotions or vice versus? Sadness, hurt and pain can be reflected back as cold, snow, rain, dark clouds. Lovely poem, thank you for sharing it with us here.
