★ Childhood ☆

Hei had a very normal up-bringing. He was born and raised in Greece (before moving away). He grew up in a home with three older brothers who all enjoyed to rough house. He was the smallest of the bunch, causing an inferiority complex. Hei had very loving parents who doted on him constantly. He was a fairly average presence at school, although he was naturally introverted. He always preferred keeping his head down and focusing on reading all sorts of different books about languages. He was always very passionate about learning.

When he was thirteen, his parents sent him to a boarding school abroad. They noticed his immense interest in academics and wanted to support him in any way they could. They saved money up to send him to an elite school. He was home sick for a while but he quickly grew to love the country he was in.

★ Family ☆

He had three older brothers. Ranging from oldest to youngest: Basil, Adrian, and Caesar. Basil was the over bearing mom of the group, he always had something to say about someone. Adrian was the mischievous trouble maker; he was the one who constantly caused their parents grief. Caesar was the artist of the group, he painted beautiful landscape portraits. Out of the three of them, Heike got along the best with Caesar. The two of them were the more introverted ones of the family. His parents (Helena and Cecil) were office workers.

★ Negative Traits ☆

He’s a perfectionist. He wants everything to be in order and in the way he wants. Hei is blunt and rude. Despite realizing how his insensitivity hurts others he still doesn't care. He wants to remain distant from people. Aside from being rude, he's also introverted and anti-social. He is also a bit of a kleptomaniac. He shoplifts small items like gum or beads.

★ Positive Traits ☆

He is fiercely loyal. He’s an intelligent individual and his philosophy showcases itself in his writing.

★ Mood ☆

Most of the time, aside from the emotional outbursts, Hei is left in a state of apathy.

★ Priorities ☆

Hei's main focus has always been to write. Whether it be books, short stories, poetry, articles- its never mattered. As long as he writes he can feel whole.

★ Philosophy ☆

Introspection/Solipsism

“It's a fact—everyone is ignorant in some way or another. Ignorance is our deepest secret.

And it is one of the scariest things out there, because those of us who are most ignorant are also the ones who often don't know it or don't want to admit it.

Here is a quick test:

If you have never changed your mind about some fundamental tenet of your belief, if you have never questioned the basics, and if you have no wish to do so, then you are likely ignorant. Before it is too late, go out there and find someone who, in your opinion, believes, assumes, or considers certain things very strongly and very differently from you, and just have a basic honest conversation.

It will do both of you good.”

― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration [/Quote]

★ Soft Spot ☆

Children, especially little girls, hit close to home to him. He feels the overwhelming urge to protect and love them. It's his biggest weakness. Most people confuse his enthusiasm with perversion so he does his best to hide it.

★ Biggest Regret ☆

What Hei regrets the most is not being able to cherish his moments with his family properly in his childhood. He doesn’t regret going to school in a foreign country, he just wishes he had more time to be a kid.

★ Living Situation ☆

He currently lives in an apartment close to a chain of supermarkets. He cooks for himself. At first he only ate cup noodles but he learned to fend for himself.

★ School ☆

He has some degree of college. He never really finished. He was three credits away from graduating when he dropped out.

★ Religion ☆

Agnostic atheist.

★ Occupation ☆

He’s a writer. It doesn’t rake in the big bucks but it’s enough for him to live on.

★ Relationships ☆

Hei wants to feel loved. He wants to be a part of a family again. He has a few friendships and has dated in the past but at the end of the day he always felt impartial to those people.

★ Pets ☆

He's allergic to fur so he can't do cats or dogs (which suits him just fine as he has a hatred of most animals). He does have a pet though. He keeps a blue male crowntail fish. Hei appreciates the silence and how easy it is to take care of him. He hasn't given the fish a name as he views it as redundant.

★ Family ☆

After he left, Caesar (the second youngest brother), went through an untreated depression and psychosis. On top of his mental illnesses, he was severely bullied at school. He eventually killed himself while Hei was in college. It came as a shock to the entire family.

★ Worst Memory ☆

The phone call from his mom. He had never heard her sound so weak.

★ Best Memory ☆

The majority of his childhood was wonderful. He had a lot of great memories with his family and brothers.

★ Childhood Dream ☆

Hei wanted to be a philosopher, like Socrates or Plato.

★ Role Model ☆

For a short time, he looked up to the other neighborhood boys. He thought they were fearless and cunning unlike him. However, he quickly came to the conclusion that in this world there was nobody like that.

★ Bad Habits ☆

When he comes home he throws his keys and coat near the door. He also kicks his shoes all over the place. It stresses his mother out greatly when she comes to visit but he doesn't really care. He also leaves a lot of trash lying around. He's not very used to doing chores.

★ Good Habits ☆

Hei is good at making sure he eats and drinks at the times he’s supposed to. He cares about his health and he knows how easy it is to get distracted as a writer.

★ Hobbies ☆

He enjoys reading all sorts of different books on languages and attending the occasional lecture. He likes to paint but he’s embarrassed to show anyone as he’s not very good at it.

★ Drugs/Smoking/Drinking ☆

He smokes cigarettes occasionally but he's not a frequent smoker. He usually has a beer at dinner if it’s been stressful but he’s a lightweight.

★ Musical/Artistic Abilities ☆

Hei is an average artist and prefers oil paint over water color or acrylic. He's terrible at singing or playing instruments. He lacks the patience and concentration.

★ Sports ☆

He excels at running. Heike used to be on the track team, although they only met seasonally. He was never very good at team sports because of his inability to communicate well with others.

★ Body Posture/Mannerisms ☆

Rarely slouching, very straight posture. You won't see him fidgeting in his seat and looks down on those who do, seeing it as a weakness of will.

Name: Seizawa Misao

Nicknames: Misa, Sei.

Age: 20

Birthday: 03. 11. 1997

Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

Birthplace: Kyoto, Japan, currently living in Tokyo due to his studies.

Height: 5’7”

Weight: 60 kg.

Body: He has quite the white skin, that’s why he often has to use sun protective products, so that his skin won’t get burnt and reddened. His body is just a typical Asian one, he looks quite skinny, even though he is not that light; he tried building some abs, yet gave up instantly, as he just hated exercising, yet he has quite much the thighs, due to playing tennis and basketball, that’s how any stomach fat is also not there.

Eyes: Dark brown, as he after uses lens or glasses due to the writing.

Hair: Black-blue. As he wanted to experiment once and try another color, yet he didn’t want it to be very extreme, so he tried this, liked it and since first year of university, he keeps his hair-black blue, as his original colour is dark brown.

Style: He likes to wear over-sized T-shirts on top and skinny jeans for the bottom part of his body, as he often goes for black, white or gray clothes, though somehow, he recently starting buying a lot of pink sweaters and T-shirts as well. Also, he started loving how light blue jeans were standing on him, as he was usually choosing clothes that would underline his thighs.

Sports: He is not a big fan of them. The only two things he has ever played and is still playing at times are tennis and basketball, even though his friends often joke with him due to him being short for both.

Languages: Japanese, English

Likes: Reading books, writing, listening to music, playing the piano and playing basketball.

Dislikes: Being ordered around, skinship, losing.

Pets: Misao has two Huskies at his parents’ place named: Zeus and Thoth. He has a bit of an interest in the Greek and Egyptian mythology, so that’s why he came up with these names.

Motto: “Anything seeming impossible to be done has to be put twice more efforts, to be finished. “

High school life: Misao was the vice-president of the student council, as he was always around the first three students in class, never finding it difficult to study anything, either it be Mathematics, Biology or Psychics. That’s why many people thought he’d go for a doctor after graduating, as that was at one moment his thought as well, studying to be a psychiatrist, yet he quickly gave up on that thought, as his inner self was telling him that he should continue developing his writing skills. He had won a few small contests of playing the piano, yet as this just wasn’t his thing, he didn’t go any further. Many people were telling him, when he was just a freshman, that he is among the handsome-pretty faces in school, yet he never really considered his looks as that special. Even though he was taking care of his looks, it was never anything special.

Dating: He has dated a few girls back in high school, but since he started his university life, it’s like all his attention got turned into the books and improving his writing skills more and more, so he left aside any relationships, though something he has noticed recently was that some boys started seeming more and more charming to him, compared to the past, yet once again, he didn’t allow these thoughts to bother him even a bit.

Biography: Misao was born in a family of a pianist and a novelist, so since young, he was being taught how to play the piano and naturally his writing talent was also found at quite an early age. He never had anything missing in his life and even though his parents were always busy with work, he was always given a lot of love from them. Even when his sister was born, that didn’t change, due to why he was always nice and polite, making sure to always achieve his goals, as one of them was now to become one of the most famous novelists in Japan, even though he was well aware that this business was no longer as successful as before, since the leading industry was the manga one. Even though that though, Misao is second year in Tokyo University now, while living on his own, working a part-time job. He is usually not that talkative, though he is easy going and is often told that he is good as a listener to his friends’ problems.

Misao spends almost his whole time writing and studying though, as he is one of the top students even in his university, though he also has his times where he could get irritated and cold.

“When beggars die, there are no comets seen;

The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.”

Julius Caesar (Act II, Scene II, Line 30)

Time existed on a scale of ‘before’ and ‘after’ for most individuals.

Heike had learned that early on in his life. Before pre-school, after pre-school. Before college, after college. Before work, after work. Before change, after change. Nothing ever existed within the moment it happened, people approached their lives with an idea of how that moment would play out. There were never important events, only the events that transpired before and after them.

Hei speculated that it came from some form of fear. Fear of change. Fear of what-ifs. It was easier to deal with the aftermath than the actual math. Well, it might have been a little hypocritical to talk about cowardice and fear. He wasn’t the bravest of individuals after all.

Hei took a sip from the steaming cup in front of him, legs crossed for warmth in the quiet cafe. He wasn’t a coffee person, preferring the naturally soothing and more nutritious tea over the bitter drink, but he could make certain exceptions. Specifically, when he was sleep deprived. Like right now. He tried not to sigh as he took another sip of the disgusting drink. Cafes weren’t his scene, anyone who knew him knew that about him. Yet he was the one who suggested meeting up at such a location. Hei didn’t know what caused such a rash decision.

He didn’t normally meet fans of his novels, after all he was a private person, but the email he had received had been startling unnerving to read. It was hard to put into words, rather than this person being flattering or insightful (although it was both those things) they had made Heike feel something unusual. Maybe it was the particular order of the words they chose or the punctuation but it had left him wanting to interact more with this Seizawa Misao person.

His hair tickled the back of his neck and he knew he was due for a haircut come springtime. “The Grandfather Clock” and “Cherry Solstice” had been his two home-runs. He had written a lot of short stories and poetry over the years but those were the two works that had set the precedence for the entirety of his works. The first one had been a short story about the life of a grandfather clock and how its persistence and durability remained intact until it was the only thing left at the end of the world. It was an existentialist piece that spoke to Hei on a very personal level. “Cherry Solstice” was a lengthier piece, a 500-paged novel that spoke about the end of their current world and a start of a different one. It was a more optimistic piece of his, one he had written when he was younger and more naive about the ways to the world. It wasn’t accurate to say he was jaded now, more like he was simply more aware of the world around him.

Hei took another sip of his hot beverage, looking out the large window on his side. It had been a cold and strident winter this year and the flurry of white raging on a few feet from his current location reminded him of that. The streets were swept with the soft dusts of snow as the strong winds pushed them across the ground as easily as sand. This early Sunday morning was not a forgiving one, that was for sure. He hoped Misao would travel safely.

“To: Heize Xanthos

From: Seizawa Misao

Topic: Your books made me want to write.

Good evening, Mr. Xanthos,

My name is Seizawa Misao. I am a second year student in Tokyo University, majoring Writing. First of all, thank you for even making an effort to read my message, as I know how busy you probably are, as one of the most famous authors in Japan right now.

I’ve read all of your books until now and I want to say that I am very impressed by the way you are writing them. There is something that… not only makes the reader want to know more and more about the book, the characters and the story, but its like, while reading, the book itself is given a life, through which you go with every new page.

As a fellow writer, I’d like to meet you Sir, as I heard you were currently in Tokyo. I want to ask you a lot of things and I’d like to be given a few advices about writing a novel. I am about to publish a book myself next week, so I’d like to ask of your opinion about it as well, as I heard the company, willing to publish my book, is the same publishing yours for so many years.

I am sorry for having such a sudden and probably even silly task to ask of a busy person like you, but really, I’ve grown with your books, Sir and they inspire me a lot. Like, I feel like I’m finding a new me with every single book of yours I’ve read. Thank you for showing me this new, full with adventures and many wise thoughts - world, Mr. Xanthos.

I’d be really glad if we actually are able to meet.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. " (William Shakespeare.)

Greetings,

S.M.”

Done. The message was sent. It took him less them he has been expecting, to write this to his favorite author. Misao leaned back against the chair, taking off his glasses, rubbing his eyes and messing his hair slightly, that silly smile not leaving his face for the whole time being, until he has received the so wanted answer. Heize has agreed to meet with him, that was a real miracle. I famous author like him, actually willing to meet his fan, the younger boy shouted out of happiness, the whole night barely able to sleep.

The next day came, the so wanted meeting was about to happen in the afternoon, after his classes were over. Thanks god the café they agreed to meet in was close by the university. Misao got up early in the morning, took a shower and dried his hair, as it was freshly dyed last week. The blue mixed with black was fitting more and more to his white skin, his eyes shining upon the grown hair. Just a few days before the meeting, he has decided to make a small experiment with his hair and curled it a bit, as it was one of these fashionably hairstyles nowadays, and to be honest, he liked how it was sitting on him.

Sei walked to the closet to take a look at his clothes, wanting to pick his best ones, as he nodded his head, once he spotted his favorite black skinny ripped on the knees jeans, along with one of the two white shirts he had in there, along with his just bought over-sized pink sweater. He grabbed a fresh pair of boxers as well, dressing himself in the clothes, fixed his hair a bit more and took his black glasses, nodding in the mirror at his looks.

Usually he didn’t pay much details to how he was looking, especially since he was often having classes from morning till night, expect for today – Wednesday, plus he was meeting with Heize today, so he must have looked at least a bit better then usual.

Ready to go, Misa grabbed his shoulder bag, along with his phone, putting one pair of black boots, as it was still quite cold outside, since not a long time ago it was snowing and the snow was still remaining on some places, putting on a black long coat, the bag on his back, unlocking and then locking the door behind himself, as he headed to the university.

His classes went smoothly, everything just as usual, his friends just as excited as him, when they heard about his meeting with Heize. Sugao, one of his closest friends, insisted to come with him, yet Misa quickly managed to escape his friend’s company. It wasn’t like he was trying to keep that author only for himself or something, but as he knew how busy the older guy was, he didn’t want to bother him with any other people and his friends eventually understood him.

After few more hours, his classes were finally over and he was now headed to the café. Sei checked his phone, like every single second, realizing that he might be late, due to the professor who insisted them to stay a bit after the last class, yet he made it on time. Rushing a bit, but made it right on time, entering the café and looking around. He had to admit something – he was indeed a fan of Heize, he knew that he wasn’t Asian, yet… he had no idea how did the guy look like, neither his age. He was supposing that it was a guy around 40 years old, due to how many books he had behind his back, though his image was about to break soon.

Misa spotted one guy sitting around the corner of the café, quite tall, well build body, even though it could be visible only by the clothes he was wearing, short hair, yet it suited him perfectly and most importantly, he was not Asian, neither was any student from the university, or at least not anybody Misao has seen. The young boy slowly approached him, not sure if that was the guy, because he looked so much younger then Sei thought, yet deciding to give it a try, he stopped right in front of him, leaning just a bit forwards, an all cheerful smile shining instantly over his face.

“Mr. Heize Xanthos?”

Heike looked up at the paler man who had approached him. He wasn't used to how light the Japanese men here were, he was used to the sun-kissed figures of his own people. When he had first moved to Tokyo he felt as though he stuck out like a sore thumb, his lean frame and dark skin only further highlighted put up against his lightly colored eyes. He stood up to great Misao-san.

"Misao-san," Hei replied back graciously, clasping the others hand in both of his and shaking it warmly, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."

He sat back in his seat after releasing the others hand. He winced as he felt his car keys stab his thigh as it was turned to an awkward angle in all the excitement. The plastic cross attached to the chain was digging into his thighs and he shuffled in his seat once more, trying to find a more comfortable position.

Hei didn't consider himself a particularly religious individual but his family had all been rather devout catholics and they had dragged him to church every Sunday morning. There had only been one church house in his small town and it was an intimidating building, towering over the rest of the suburban homes with its white cottonwood limestone lining the structure. His mother would hush his brothers as they chattered in their seats and he would look up to the priest standing behind the gold and silver chancel.

He couldn't help but wonder, as the older man read from his personalized velvet covered bible, if he was suppose to feel afraid of God. Dragging himself out of his nostalgic thoughts, Heike looked back at the other man once more.

"Sit down, let me order you something. I feel like I should really buy you a coffee after that flattering e-mail. Especially from a kouhai from my university. How're things there by the way?"

As he received the positive response from the older male, he was glad that after all he was able to recognize him and not bump into some stranger, as it has happened a few times to him… even though it was in the university and due to him hurrying to find the certain person, mostly some classmate he had seen once-twice in class.

Misao let his hand being taken by Heize, as he returned the small shake, bowing his head once again, another small smile shining over his small face. It wasn’t that it was that untypical, yet at times he was feeling like a little kid, despite the fact he was already 20 years old. His height, his body and his face were all screaming that he was way younger and even though at times he liked it, still, at times it was kind of embarrassing.

Anyways, the younger boy shook his head quickly, shooing off all the side thoughts, as he finally spoke for a second time: “The pleasure is mine, Heize-san. Thank you for agreeing to meet me, even though your busy schedule. I really appreciate it.”

Misao looked once again around the small café, as he returned his gaze back at the older male quickly, tilting his head to the side. Heize looked like he was, for a moment, somewhere else. Maybe this place was bringing some memories to him, but maybe he was also far away from the truth.

With a small shrug on his shoulders, Misa nodded his head and sat on the chair, taking his coat off and leaving it on the back of the chair itself, leaning a bit backwards, as he parted his lips to ask about a waitress, hearing Heize’s offer, instantly nodding his head.

“One Latte, if that’d be okay.” He looked at the male in front of him kind surprised, the least expecting it be that one of his favorite authors would have graduated from his university. It took the dark haired boy a few seconds to realize it what was he being asked, as in the end he let out a small embarrassed chuckle, his body instantly leaning a bit forward to the table, one forearm resting on the table itself.

“Well, as I’ve heard, a few of the older professors are no longer teaching, but there are a few newer and younger ones that give quite interesting lectures, especially when it comes to any kind of Literature. Also, for our course, they are giving us a chance to publish a book if we’ve got good grades from the second year now. I don’t know if it was the same a few years ago, but yeah. They are thinking about adding a second language to be learnt by us, like some European. But if that would come to a realization, I am not sure myself.” As Misao started explaining slowly, he didn’t even realize it that he was getting more and more excited, at one certain point, as his hands were being waved around, while trying to explain it better, stooping and looking at Heize, instantly apologizing and pulling his body back again.

“I am sorry… I think that I got too excited.” Yep, at times like this, Misa was seriously wondering if he was even going to grow up. Bowing his head one more time, the younger boy gave the male in front of him a slightly longer gaze though, before to smile lightly, as the serial question popped inside his head.

“What made you meet me, Heize-san? Was my e-mail like… that different from all the other ones that you are probably receiving every day?” He couldn’t help it, but ask. It wasn’t like he wanted to sound rude, but it was just that he was feeling too happy to even believe it yet. Yeah, Heize was standing in front of him, in his fullest coolness and that one charming smile, many were talking about, even though it was visible only at times, yet he wasn’t just the ordinary writer – just the opposite, he was one of the most popular ones right now. One more thing that he wanted to say though – even though the older male was not even Japanese, his Japanese was great. Something, he was going to praise him about a lot, as someone born and being a Japanese himself. But that, it was probably going to happen later on.
