Shu shifted easily and had to fight a laugh from escaping his lips as Rei argued about his next position. None the less he got on his knees and then onto his stomach as the woman had asked. Shu was quick to follow him his hips shifting a little above Rei before pressing his hips into the mans ass with a light sigh. His body moved, smaller than Rei's yet in this position he was able to reach up and slide his head into the crook of the others neck without much strain. Rei laughed half-heartedly at the comeback of Shu as he didn’t know how to respond to that, one part of him said yes, while the other denied it completely out of stubbornness. Rei looked at the girl and nodded curtly as he was getting a little tired from the ongoing tension at this place, the close proximity between him and Shu definitely asked quite some self-control. Moving his shoulders a little so they would be more flexible before going back to the other for the last pose. Finally. Feeling a bit more at ease as he knew they didn’t need to keep up with this anymore since he didn’t know how much he could still take. Nearing his end of his energy as the event kept on going without having a decent break.

 

Putting his hands around Shu, thinking that the guy was still pretty manly despite his personality. His build, his face, pretty much everything was handsome. If only the guy had a bit more confidence, others would find it easier to approach him. It wasn’t an easy thing to do as Rei had to learn about it himself as well in the beginning. However one always had to start somewhere and they weren’t going to be good at it immediately. It took practice and patience just like in combat.

 

“Seems like she isn’t one of those demons around here.” He said with a chuckle, nodding towards the comment of it being the last one for the event. Luckily they only had to go one day, being able to take a break tomorrow since there wasn’t school on a Sunday. He definitely wasn’t going to get up early for a change, at least that was what he wanted to do.

 

Gently placing his lips on Shu’s, the strawberry flavour still present which made it that more enjoyable. Loving strawberries in general. Small “aw” sounds could be heard by the crowd once they took on the pose. The pictures being taken in only a matter of time as the girl had exactly what she wanted. Going around them to find the perfect angle before she notified the staff that she was finished. Rei then pulled back and smiled cheerfully as it was over now. He didn’t have to take on those odd poses in front of a public anymore. The helper came to them with a big smile on his face, a thumbs up to show them the respect they deserved for putting through with it.

 

“How intriguing. So you don’t hate doing it with that kid?” A voice echoed inside of his head, making Rei freeze on the spot, his face becoming pale. “Have you forgotten your past already? Did you lock it away?” The voice said menacingly. A flashback of a kid laying on the ground together with another person, both bleeding. Seeing his own hand covered in dark shadows.

 

A headache erupted which made his hand go to the place where it hurt most. Squatting down, eyes completely widened as he didn’t know what he was seeing. Gritting his teeth as he didn’t remember it completely. The president saw what was happening and immediately went over to Rei, standing in front so nobody could see the panic in Rei’s eyes. “Oi! Get yourself together. Rei.” He whispered, but loud enough so it could reach Rei’s consciousness. Rei looked up, a drop of sweat rolling down his neck, his face still clearly pale from what happened just now.

Shu could tell that Rei was tired too, this had been takign alot of effort from the both of them and it was a shock neither of them had decided to stop it. Rei slid his arms around his waist and Shu looked up at him with a light smile, his arms lightly wrapping around his neck before sliding into those dark locks and pulling Rei into him. It was like kissing him was natural now, he didn't hesitate he wasn't scared. They had been closer today than they had been in a long while and that alone was a shock to Shu. He never thought that he could get physical with another person without feeling like he needed to explain his body. However, Rei never asked, he didn't want to know why and he didn't seem bothered by the scars that peppered his body.

 

Their kiss was cute, not heated or sexual it was just cute. Yet, Shu could feel his heart skip a beat in his chest as he let his head tilt to the side and kissing Rei deeper. This particular pose didn't take near as long and before he knew it they were being told they could drop the pose. He pulled away from Rei and blinked a little before smiling softly to Rei. He hoped the day hadn't been intirely horrible. He laughed a little at the helper came up to them thanking them and telling them they did a good job. Shu ran a hand through his hair sighing softly, a huge weight seeming to be off his shoulders now that he didn't have to do something so embarrassing in public anymore. His eyes however, slid to Rei who seemed to be acting a little strange.

 

"Rei?" he asked softly as the other man seemed to stop in his tracks. The color draining from his handsome features. Shu moved a little and lightly reached out to touch Rei only, he wasn't there in a moment. He was kneeling on the ground seeming to be in pain. Shu knelt beside him and gently touched his shoulder looking to the president for guidence, "Whats wrong with him? Is he okay?" he asked worry written all over his face. He stood beside the president and looked a little worried, "What do you want me to do? I can take him somewhere so he's not surrounded by people." he said softly looking down to Rei, he couldn't help the concern that slid to his features.

The president gestured towards the other helpers to guide the visitors towards the exit as the event had came to an end. They still had a bit of time but seeing the circumstances, it was better to clean this part of the upper floor just in case if something was about to go wrong. The helpers immediately did as they were told, even Miss Fumie helped out as she saw that there was something wrong with one of the models. She got a list before with everyone’s power which indicated what kind of threat they could cause and since there were two of them present in the higher danger category, she couldn’t risk anything as it could put a lot of people in danger. One of the helpers was on the phone, calling someone for help.

 

The president huffed and glanced towards Shu as the guy asked for some explanation as to what was happening right now. “Well, you know that Rei can manipulate darkness. The ability in itself shouldn’t cause too much harm but there’s something else bound to it which is his inner conscience which got merged with the power. Rei hasn’t accepted it yet which is why he can be unstable whenever Demon Spawn decides to meddle in.” Koga explained with a sigh at the end. “If the Spawn managed to take over it can get really dangerous as Rei will start to act only based on his feelings which isn’t always positive. Also there’s something in his past that holds him from keeping forward, though I don’t know exactly what that is besides the principal. The Spawn is probably trying to make Rei remember it again.”

 

Just as the president finished talking, Rei looked up at the male’s face however the colour of his eye changed into pitch black. “Don’t start talking like I don’t exist, it hurts my feelings.” Spawn said, a more wicked grin forming onto his lips. “I’m not really the bad guy here am I? You can see me as the protector of Rei, the guardian. You should be glad that I’m here.” Slowly getting up on his feet, spreading his arms widely while taking a deep breath. “That Rei is certainly something though, I’m glad that he’s part of me. Strong body but stubborn as hell, not even thinking about accepting me once.” He clicked his tongue as he thought about it, it was pretty annoying that he wasn’t being accepted at all and rather put aside.

 

The president put an arm in front of Shu as he walked back, making the other go with him. “That’s not Rei right now.” He said lowly, completely on guard as he wasn’t used to this kind of thing. Mixed feelings residing in him as he didn’t want to hurt his friend but if he had to, he would. The spawn raising an eyebrow as he saw the actions of the president, making him burst out in laughter as he didn’t expect to be that fearsome. “Humans are really interesting!” He commented, wiping a tear away as he was enjoying himself completely, perhaps a bit too much.

Shu didn't understand what was happening. Sure he had known that Rei had a darker power than most but he never thought he would ever have to witness it first hand. As people started to rush about the table putting things away and guiding the people out of the upper floor Shu realized this was a serious matter. The table area was almost deserted by the time the President started explaining to him exactly what they were dealing with. Shu had never bothered to ask about Rei's powers...figuring he would explain it to him when the time came. The president seemed a little frustrated that he asked what was happening and what was wrong with Rei but it was just his friendship getting the best of him. He coulnd't not worry about Rei...they had just had an entire day of practically laying on one another.

 

Shu was looking at the president and hadn't noticed the change in Rei until he heard the deeper voice coming from infront of them. His eyes flicked to Rei, his instincts telling him something was far from normal with him. His eyes widened as he realized Rei wasn't here in this moment and they weren't safe if this...thing decided to hurt them. They were standing really close too, right infront of him to say the least. It was so strange, seeing Rei the guy he had feelings for, turn into something wicked and sinister. It was frightening but Shu knew that Rei was still in there and most likely if they could reach him the spawn would get pushed back down where it belonged.

 

He had nothing to say however as the president pushed on his chest forcing him to take a step back. He looked do him with confusion, where would they go? They wouldn't get to the door if the spawn decided that he didn't want them to. "President?" he asked a little worried for the two of them pushing his arm away from him. He wasn't a child, he sure as hell wasn't going to let the president take on Rei by himself. If he planned to fight him then Shu, despite his combat training, would help. It would be better than the president fighting alone. His blue eyes moved to the laughing figure infront of them and he sighed lightly looking to the president. He didn't know what they were supposed to do but...the spawn was there for the entire portion of their day. Shu wondered what he thought of him and if there was possibly a personal vendetta against him and his actions toward Rei today.

The president looked completely on guard by the transformation of Rei, his hand being pushed aside as Shu didn’t want to be seen as a kid. Honestly Rei was sometimes a handful to handle especially at times like these where nobody present could really get him back to usual. Nobody did which was why they had to take measurements for him to calm down even if it was by something that wasn’t always appreciated. The president let his eyes go to the clock hanging on the wall, knowing that their saviour of the day would arrive soon as they lived close to the venue. His hands started to get covered in cold sweat as he wasn’t used to stuff like this, he preferred to talk it out instead of fighting with people.

 

Spawn sighed deeply as he noticed the worry, anxiety, and whatever came looking by his appearance out of the blue. Well, he couldn’t blame them for doing so as he didn’t get out of his room so much, the small space in Rei his head which was concealed in darkness. Rolling his eyes dramatically as he watched them, the helpers managed to get everybody out of the upper floor where they were situated which was quite an achievement. “So… What are you going to do now? Lock me up?” His eyes then went to Shu. “Or burn me alive?” His voice was provoking, wanting them to get angry at him for saying those things. “Or will the gas of Mr. President here be the first to knock me out?” His voice now mocking as he didn’t take them serious.

 

However, footsteps could be heard running up the stairs in haste. Pushing the door at the backside of Rei open with one swift movement. The spawn was surprised as he didn’t think they would actually charge to him. Before he could even do anything he was pierces with a needle, feeling some liquid going through him. “You fucker…” Spawn groaned towards the person, his hand covering the spot that got injected. His vision getting blurry, his body feeling heavy after a few seconds. And then… nothing.

 

Yoichi caught Rei just in time so the guy’s body wouldn’t hit the floor. Breathing out deeply. “Seriously… I was just at the good part of the movie. He really has the worst timing.” Yoichi nagged towards the unconscious body that he was holding bridal style in his arms. His eyes then went over towards the people who were standing in the same room. “So… I need one person to join me in the car to get back to the school.” He commented, letting his eyes go to Shu. “You. You get along with Rei right? Let’s go. President, you take care of the rest.” He said and gestured to Shu to follow him out of the building via the backdoor. It was a bit tricky to get down the stairs but Yoichi managed. Soon arriving at the car, laying Rei in the back so he and Shu could sit at the front.

 

Getting into the driver’s seat and starting the car the moment when Shu got in.

Shu wasn’t particularly scared of Rei…or rather the spawn that stood before them. He should have been but he wasn’t. Something figured that he wasn’t going to get hurt here today…not because of Rei but because he could just feel it. He didn’t think they were going to be hurt here and they were going to be alright. Shu peered around making sure everyone was gone before his eyes lowered on the speaking spawn before them. He seemed to be too entertained with the thought that they may take up arms against him. Of course he nor the president had it in them to do so.

 

His eyes flicked up to the clock along with the presidents wondering what he saw there. The others voice was deep and nothing like what he was used to and it pulled his attention from the lock. Of course when those eyes lowered on him he couldn’t help but feel the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. They weren’t Rei’s eyes he had been staring into all day, they were something else. He wanted to do something, to slap him out of his trance but Shu didn’t know how. He wasn’t close enough to Rei to understand it all…he didn’t know anything about him and yet he believed he liked him?

 

Just then he heard footsteps running up the stairs and into the door, his mood souring almost instantly as he noticed Yoichi, that asshole who had forced a kiss on Rei. To his dismay the ex was what saved the day and as he injected Rei with something to knock him out he felt utterly useless. He felt sick to his stomach as he watched Yoichi pick Rei up and talk to him like they were the best of friends. He felt even sicker when he was addressed and he nodded a little before looking to the president. “I’ll keep you updated. Good luck.” He called back before following Yoichi down the stairs offering help only to be brushed off like he wasn’t really there at all.

 

Rei was stuffed in the back of the car as he quickly opened the passenger side, his eyes looking back into the back of the car with worry. Even if he wasn’t Rei’s boyfriend he still cared a lot about him and they were friends none the less. When Yoichi crawled into the front seat Shu looked over at him and then away as if he didn’t want to make conversation with him. Of course, this was unavoidable seeing as he wanted to know if he was going to be okay. “What did you give him?” he asked his eyes not leaving the window, having no interest in even talking to Yoichi as if they were friends. He saw no point in it considering he was fighting for Rei’s affections in that moment and Yoichi was his obstacle.

Yoichi hummed as he thought about what he had given Rei before. “I gave him a sedative so he can go to sleep, it’s nothing dangerous.” He explained to the other. “Rei told me about it before which is why I managed to get here so fast.” It wasn’t that much of a hassle for Yoichi as he now knew what to do. Of course the first time it was a little chaotic as he didn’t want to hurt Rei but the moment he saw that Rei actually got put into safety by it, he became more at ease. The last thing he wanted to do was to injure Rei in an attempt to actually save him.

 

Glancing to the side for a second to see the face of the kid, he couldn’t help but to chuckle at the disinterested face of the other. It was quite obvious that his presence wasn’t being well-liked with the guy. “I guess you know that I’m his ex-boyfriend otherwise you wouldn’t act that way to me.” He commented, a smirk appearing on his lips as he thought it was amusing to see. “But well, same goes for me. I don’t plan on giving him to someone who isn’t being serious about Rei. Though that’s just me being selfish here.” He started talking a bit more about their relationship now. “Though I’ll think about giving up on him if someone manages to make him happier than I did which is pretty difficult. In matter of fact, why don’t you give up on him and let me have him again?” He asked provokingly.

 

Already being near the campus, Yoichi couldn’t help but to tease the other now that they didn’t have anybody around them except Rei but he was unconscious at the moment. Weirdly enough, Yoichi was actually being serious about Rei again, he just decided to not let it show too much to people who were irrelevant. Shu however was an exception as he heard about them being close with each other from the club. He hadn’t been there in a while due to conflicting schedules and a lack of time but since that calmed down, he would drop by more often to finish his projects and perhaps meddle in with these two. He wasn’t going to back down easily.

Shu tilted his head a little listening to the injection that Yoichi had given him. He nodded lightly, "I see..." it made sense that a seditive would put the spawn back in his place even if he didn't want it to. He chuckled lightly under his breathe, it made complete sense. Then again Rei probably had no idea if the seditive would put the spawn back in its place when he woke up or not so the first time was probably a trial. His eyes flicked back out the window watching the buildings pass them by. He hadn't been outside in a very long time and now that he was older he took every moment and cherished it.

 

The others comment made Shu look over to him a moment only to sigh, "Who says I'm not serious about Rei?" he asked his eyes still focused outside the windo. "Just because you think you're the only one that can make him happy doesn't mean I can't try. I don't expect you to give up on him but I don't either so you'll just have to fight me for him." He shrugged a little and peered over to the campus gates. "I'll tell you...I'm very serious about Rei. If he's happy with you then fine but I'm going to try." he nodded a little and looked to Yoichi. "You can't stop me. Rei's the only person that could put my pursuit on hold so...sadly i guess we will be neck and neck." he shrugged and looked away again.

 

He hadn't felt so serious about another person before in his entire life. Being locked away during his adolecense meant that he had no friends, no lovers, nothing. He didn't know anything about dating someone but he knew he liked Rei. he couldn't deny that this guy made him feel...safe even in this big world. He had fun with him and they made each other laugh. He was pretty sure Rei liked him too...even if he still had feelings for Yoichi he did have something for Shu. Shu knew he was at a disadvantage with no prior experience with relationships and no history with Rei Yoichi was bound to win but he wasn't going to quit just yet. Not when there was still a small chance he could win over Rei's heart. His eyes closed a moment and he sighed lightly it was such a hard thing. Being an outcast with someone well liked like Rei. It was probably better for Rei if he dated Yoichi seeing as he was well liked unlike Shu. It didn't really matter what Shu thought but...he hoped Rei would pick him in the end.

Yoichi blinked as the other was actually serious about Rei as he didn’t think that it was the case, having thought that the guy was just playing around or wanting to get some experience with a male instead of a female. The thrill that some people sought after. Having to admit that he was like that at first too but it changed when he met Rei, only the second person he truly fell in love with and not just fooling around. However due to circumstances they couldn’t keep the relationship stable, mainly because he was overseas and stopped responding over time. Eventually the break up text came and that was supposed to be the end of it. Yet he couldn’t get the other out of his mind and that was the moment he realized that he was truly in love with Rei. Way too late but still, at least he figured it out in the end.

 

”I didn’t think this was going to happen though I won’t back down either...” Yoichi muttered under his breath. Knowing that he wouldn’t get Rei back so easily, it was worrying but at the same time he wondered who the guy would choose. It could make his head spinning in circles for days, weeks even but the only one who could make the decision was Rei himself. The guy with a fearsome power. Honestly why couldn’t he just fall in love with someone who had some minor abilities such as being able to talk with animals or something. It would’ve been less of tension and dramatic scenarios like now. He never regretted being with Rei though, not at all.

 

Eventually they arrived at the campus. Parking his car into one of the empty spots near the dormitory which was pretty lucky as mostly they were completely filled, meaning that they would need to park further away. Once they got into a complete stop, Yoichi turned back to Shu and smiled nicely, genuinely. ”Well, I’ve got to go to the study group now, I turned them down too much so they’d be pissed if I didn’t come. I’ll leave Rei to you then.” Yoichi said before he got out of the car. Helping to put Rei on Shu’s back so it was easier to carry the guy. Waving at them before he hurried of towards the library.

Yoichi seemed to be rather surprised that Shu was serious. Then again not many people just came out as gay and were fine with it. Shu never had interests in women so being with a guy just was like second nature to him. He wouldn't have dated Rei just to get experience for guys were all he wanted. Mostly he was afraid of women, his mother being one of the main abusers in his life and his little sister being the only positive woman in his life. Then again most people scared him, they were unpredictable and wild. This meant a chance for anger to spiral out of control and leave one if not both hurt from an altercation that got too physical. Then again he had set his sights on one of the scariest kids at the school with one of the most dangerous powers around. Go figure.

 

Rei was evidently the only person who could decide where they were going to go from here. He would get to decide as the weeks went on and they would hopefully...get together. Yoichi came with history, giving him an upper hand in the fight for Rei. He was familiar, simple, Shu was everything but. He was new, insecure, and traumatized to no end. Rei would take one look at his past, his scars, and leave him in the dust. Then again he had seen his chest and didn't seem to upset about the scars that peppered his toned figure. It was possible that Shu thought people would hate him for the horrible things that happened to him. His eyes scared him the most, they were what everyone saw and he kept the scar out of sight but even then sometimes, just sometimes, it was visable. His vision cloudy on that side anyway he just wanted to put it away and never see it again.

 

When they pulled up to the school and into a parking spot Shu sighed and peered over to Yoichi who seemed to be being a little too nice. He tilted his head to the mention of a study group and he nodded lightly, "okay?" he said and got out of the car after him. He helped him get Rei out of the car and put him on his back. He watched him leave for the library. Shu shifted a little pulling Rei ontop of him more and he groaned, "Geez...for someone so tiny you're heavy.." He groaned and slowly started walking. He soon realized he didn't know where he was going, where was he supposed to take Rei? When the thought didn't come to him he carried him to his secret cliff top, laying the other down in the grass. He sat beside the still unconsious Rei his hand pulling at the tie and letting it fall loose around his neck. He unbuttoned a few of the btuttons on his shirt, sweat dotting his hairline as he pulled it up into a bun. It was a hotter day and carrying around another person was no help. Luckily the air was clean here, high up in the air. There was a nice breeze and as he laid back in the grass beside Rei he couldn't help but enjoy it. This place wouldn't be so secret anymore if Rei woke up but then again, Shu didn't mind sharing with him.

Rei slowly opened up his eyes, feeling the grass underneath his fingers, gently brushing alongside them in a caring way. Becoming more calm than he had been in a long while, surrounded by the sounds of people talking and birds chirping. The sun standing low, giving an orange-pink colour to the sky, painting it beautifully which no actual human could completely capture as it was always different, never the same, not once. The clouds almost gone, only a few remains here and there. Adjusting to his surroundings in this way was a welcoming surprise, unlike the other times he had gotten into his demonic mode, having woken up in the infirmary most of the time or worse, an isolation cell.

 

Knowing very well that the event took place by the fragments that repeated itself inside of his head. The spawn taking over his body in an instant, leaving him to no choice but to oblige to the will of the power residing in him. He didn’t have the strength to discuss with it, nor did he want to as he was too stubborn to accept this part of his entity. The chaotic, harming part that didn’t give any happiness to people but instead fear and sadness as he couldn’t control himself, hurting others in the process whenever they got too close. He did try talking to this side but with no use as they were both stubborn in their own way, not wanting to give in as long as it didn’t match with their ideals. An endless fight.

 

Calmly his eyes went over to the presence next to him, seeing that it was Shu out of all the people. He thought the other would’ve ran away already after witnessing something like that, most of them did. Only a few stayed while others pretended like nothing happened yet having their guards up around him. Those in the club didn’t mind and knew his situation which they came to accept oddly enough. Perhaps it was due to his modelling he did without getting paid for it most of the time, however recently they got paid a lot due to Rei’s rise in popularity amongst the otaku’s. Well, it was nice to be recognized but tiring as well, especially since he mainly cosplays for doujinshi, bl or yaoi manga. Having said that he had the perfect body for a muscular uke and a dominating seme so it seemed.

 

“Sorry…” He said silently as he felt guilty about his earlier appearance which wasn’t a pretty sight. Pushing himself up so he was sitting straight. “Aren’t you scared of me now? It’s completely normal to be.” He commented with a light sigh as he didn’t know what to think. Maybe the reason the other stayed was because he was forced to in order to keep an eye on Rei, or he had bad news to tell, it could even be that he would be told to never talk to Shu again. A painful sting shot through his chest when he thought about it. Hiding his face between his knees and arms that clung to it.

Shu spent an hour it felt like watching the sun go down. Its golden hues turning the sky from a deep blue to a pink, and slowly to a yellowey orange that told that night would be upon them soon enough. He knew he should have taken Rei somewhere else but it didn't feel right to just take him away. He figured this was a good view to wake up to, the setting sun and a beautiful grassy area no one else knew about. He hoped he wouldn't have been upset with him, waking up somewhere where he shouldn't be.

 

He knew that Rei would wake up but in the time he was waiting Shu had welcomed the silence. One arm behind his head while the other lightly flickered fire over his fingertips. He watched the flames form meeting the orange of the sky seeming to match. He hadn't really thought about when Rei would wake so he was in his own thoughts, the others words pulling him out of his thoughts and making him jump. "Jesus! You scared me!" he chuckled softly and waved a hand the flames extinguishing as he sat up slightly tilting his head to the side to peer at Rei. The apology was shocking enough but the worst shock was the words after that that wiped his smile clean.

 

"Rei...? Hey? I'm not scared of you." he sat up and moved closer to Rei lightly touching his arm. "Why should I be afraid of you?" he didn't understand but then he realized he must be worried about his power. "Rei...I'm not afraid of you. You're...you. I know you can't control this and that..it comes with you. I can't be afraid of you or hate you for just being yourself." he smiled a little and lightly tilted Rei's head up. "Everyone has parts of themselves they would rather others not see for fear of what they will think. Just know that I don't mind this part of you...it was scary. I'm just not afraid of you Rei because you wouldn't ever hurt me. I don't think you would anyway."

 

of course it was hard to tell if his words would really help the situation but he hoped that rei would understand he wasn't worried or scared of him. He just wanted to be close to him, he just wanted to be around him. He wanted to be there for him when things were happening to him and he needed someone to talk to. He wanted to be there when the spawn came and he wanted to be the one that helped him not the ex that forced himself on him. He wanted to be the one that made Rei smile...then again he didn't think he could do it. He was never proud of himself and he wasnt confident. He had no dating expereince and he didn't know if Rei would be happy with him. He hoped he would tho. he would just have to wait and hope that he was going to accept this little talk.

Rei looked at the male, lifting himself a bit up so he could see the other more clearly. It was odd how this person was so normal with all of this. If it had been somebody else, they would’ve ran at the sight and never returned due to being afraid or seeing Rei as something that didn’t belong in this world. There were a lot of people who were like that. Only the principal, Yoichi and now Shu weren’t. He knew that the others of the club didn’t really care about it either but they were still afraid of his other side and didn’t like coming into contact with it as seen with the president.

 

It’d been a while since somebody had accepted him for the way he was and not just what they saw. He never really disappeared when he became the spawn, he was still in there but unable to come back without a certain trigger. Being in a discussion with his power constantly, fighting for control whenever that happened, however since his power was stronger, he couldn’t always snap out of it. Becoming a dangerous monster that was a threat to everybody. At least, that was what he thought, wanted to believe. The actual reason was deeper, a memory he had locked away for so long and the reason why his power became a personality.

 

Turning over so he sat on Shu’s lap, staring into the eyes of the other with mixed emotions. He didn’t know how he should feel, it all came at once. Anger because he couldn’t control himself, sad because he was about to hurt someone again, happy because Shu accepted him and anxious because he didn’t know what would happen next. They weren’t in a particularly close relationship as they were only friends who… jerked each other off in the toilets of an event. Yeah, that wasn’t exactly planned right there.

 

Wrapping his arms around the other’s neck loosely. “You’re weird.” He commented softly, not meaning it in a bad way. Leaning in to peck the other lightly on the lips. “But I don’t dislike it.” Starting to calm down in the male’s presence. Feeling lighter now that he knew that the other wouldn’t be scared away so easily. Perhaps, he could try to get to understand his own power with the help of Shu and he could do the same. Maybe, just maybe, they would be able to understand each other on another level. It was different from Yoichi and yet the same. How peculiar.

Shu was silent for a long moment hoping that Rei understood what he was trying to say to him. He was always seen as a monster when he was younger and he never wanted anyone else to feel like that, specially because of him. He didn't have much experience with people, or friends, or relationships, but he knew that he didn't want anyone to feel as horrible as he did when he was younger. No one should feel less than someone else because of something they can't change. For something that was just apart of them. It wasn't like Rei could stop the spawn, it was apart of him and if Shu was going to like Rei he would have to accept the spawn too.

 

He looked away a moment thinking maybe Rei had gotten upset with him. He was very surprised however when he felt someone sliding into his lap. His eyes quickly flashed up to Rei, their eyes instantly connecting and emotions seeming to flood Shu as he looked into those eyes. It seemed that Rei had alot he was thinking about, and he didn't know which emotion to hold onto. It was strange but Shu wanted to hold him, he gently righted himself, having fallen a little from the surprise of another person on his lap and peered up to Rei as if waiting. Waiting for him to say something, anything to make him feel just a little successful in making him happier.

 

Arms slid around his neck lossely and he heard the comment that was almost whispered between them. At first he was a little hurt and was about to say something when Rei leaned into him, as if to kiss him and told him he didn't hate it. Relief seemed to wash over him and Shu slid his arms around the others waist, leaning into him and closing the distance between their lips. He kissed him softly and pulled back a moment peering up at Rei. "I have no reason to judge you Rei...I have alot of problems of my own as you probably know and I hope...we can both learn to live with our demons and understand them together." He gently kissed the others cheek as a hand moved from his waist to go back to the ground and hold him up from falling over. The other hand of his rested on Rei's hip, almost too terrified to go any lower it seemed and yet he felt comfortable. Comfortable as they sat face to face with one another just looking, enjoying one anothers company.

Rei slowly started to relax himself again, going in with the kiss he received from the other which was quite surprising. He didn’t think that Shu would do it so he became happier without him even realizing it. A new ray of light entering his dark mind which was overflooding with the painful memories of him hurting someone in the past and afraid of hurting more people in the near future. Despite being strong he was weaker than most as he was scared to face himself, improve himself, come to an agreement with this spawn who lingered inside of him.

 

The Spawn was quite a peculiar being as there was no real warning before he would pop up. There didn’t seem to be a certain trigger at times either though mostly it would pop out when Rei would be in danger. So perhaps that was why it came out more fiercer than normal, to the point of making children cry even. A wicked appearance, suitable for the devil’s spawn. It was normal to be scared after witnessing something like that, even the principal wasn’t entirely comfortable with it when it came to that bad state. The only thing they could do was try to make Rei go to sleep like now but it was harder to do as he would resist anything that came near to him. Like a defensive wall surrounding him with dark magic.

 

One of the reasons as to why he had to come to an agreement with it. Having to merge together into one being. It was a scary thought but it was the truth, something that had to happen. They couldn’t exist in one body, their minds were too strong for that. Only one could survive they said but was it necessarily the truth? He never tried it out seriously as he didn’t want to know the outcome. He didn’t want to disappear.

 

Humming as he heard the words coming out of Shu. His thoughts went into a better direction, feeling the peck on his cheek. “So… Now that the serious talk is over, why don’t we go back to the dorms? I can make us some noodles if you want, we’re free to use it anyway.” He suggested, getting up from the other’s lap. Then noticing that he was still wearing the costume from the event. No shit it was so breezy all of a sudden. Though nobody would give him a weird look as they had gotten used to his appearance, being forced to walk through the campus in all kinds of costumes already, most knew about his internet profile, being quite popular amongst the people despite being seen as scary. It was odd to say the least.

 

Only the first years would gaze after him as they weren’t used to it or those who had never come across him before. Those were the sole exceptions.

Shu was never one to be so confident but he knew that Rei probably needed the reassurance at the moment so he didn't mind taking up the confidence a little. He smiled lightly to the other blinking over to him. It was strange, of course like anyone he was terrified in the moment but he knew that Rei wasn't going to hurt him. He was still in there when the spawn came out and it wasn't like the spawn would harm Rei seeing as it was his host. Shu got a glimpse of how vulnerable Rei could really be. That confident, arrogant guy he met on the combat grounds was almost nonexistant in this moment. He saw someone that was alot like him, scared to be himself and worried about the harm he could do to others.

 

Shu chuckled lightly and shifted standing up and brushing the dirt from his suit. "Alright. I think that sounds nice. Lead the way? I'm assuming our dorms are different us being in different years and all." He shifted a little before following Rei as he started to walk away. It was sort of funny that he was still in his robes from the event but neither Shu nor Yoichi had thought about changing him into something more suitable. His clothes were probably with the president of the club now and would have to be broguht over later.

 

Shu stretched his arms over his head, his back stretching out with a loud pop. He sighed lowly and peered to Rei, "I helped Yoichi bring you back here..." he said softly his hands sliding into his pockets. "I can't say that he and I get along very well." he lightly chuckled and looked away his eyes trying to find something else to look on. It was true that Shu and Rei were only friends with nothing more than that between them. Well, other than the fact they had jerked each other off in the bathrooms but that didn't make them anything special right? It was only a one time thing right? Shu didn't know the answer but the way Yoichi spoke it seemed like he had little to no chance with Rei because Rei was still caught up on Yoichi. Of course, if it was what Rei wanted Shu wouldn't say anything but he sort of wished Rei would give him a shot to be...more than just friends.

Rei hummed when Shu seemed to cheer up at the mentioning of food, more in particular noodles. They were easy to make and one could add a lot of stuff to it as well, making it into one savory dish. He was a fan of meat so he always put some in, or at least he would try to do so. Of course he would eat something else as well as long as it tasted good, though some of the people he hung around with went over the top with the noodle dish and made it into something catastrophic. Godzilla was only a small threat against it, the taste was just so bad that they couldn't finish the bowl completely, nearly puking as the smell wasn't good either.

 

When he heard that Yoichi helped, he wasn't too surprised about it, actually relieved since the guy knew how to deal with him when he was in that state of mind. Despite the problems between them, he couldn't come to hate the other. He had tried to do so but failed miserably by how Yoichi kept on being nice to him despite everything. It was confusing but one thing was sure: they couldn't go back to how they once were. A lot had happened in the meantime and they just met again after the guy went overseas to study. It was bound for the relationship to change, even more since Yoichi decided to break up with him over the phone instead of face to face via Skype. It was one of the worst thing the male had done to Re and yet he still didn't dislike the other. It was annoying and stupid.

 

"I see, well, that's one thing that hasn't changed from back then." He commented, rubbing the back of his neck as he didn't know how to feel about that. One way he was glad while the other was a bit sad since nobody else knew what to do or had the guts for it. Well, it was Shu's first time seeing it so it was only normal for the guy not to be able to react. It's all so freaking irritating but he put those thoughts away as he didn't want to fuck up the mood once again. "I hope he didn't say anything weird to you, he tends to be quite... over the top." He said with a groan.

 

And then they arrived at the dormitory which was pretty big since the school wasn't so small either. Plus some students needed more space because of their size or power. Moving to the kitchen after asking what Shu felt like eating right now. There were a lot of ingredients available so they wouldn't have a problem with that, it was also free to use unless stated otherwise.

It seemed silence lingered between them for a moment as Shu mentioned Yoichi. it wasn't like he wanted to hear what Rei had to say about him but something deep inside him did want to know. Wanted to know how Rei felt about Yoichi and if there was a hint of need still in his voice. He wanted to know if there was a small hint of something other than friends in his voice to the other. The mention of food seemed to slide from his mind as he walked beside his new friend. Trying to understand exactly what he had to say. Shu didn't know what he would do if he felt that Rei didn't even bother to give him a chance.

 

He tilted his head a little looking up at Rei as he spoke feeling a light cringe in his chest as he heard the words. It was true that Yoichi and Rei had alot of history which meant they were already bound to have feelings between the two of them. Shu felt like he was nted to throw up. He peered away from Rei and chuckled lightly,"Nah. He wasn't over the top. Just don't think the two of us click well together." He shrugged and tightened his hand in his pants pocket internally slapping himself for not ratting Yoichi out for what he had said. Of course there was no time for it because they had made it to the dormitory. Only one of the boys dorms on campus. This dorm being for upperclassman and Shu's was for underclassmen, meaning they didn't often mix.

 

He smiled a little and pulled himself onto the counter thinking. "Hmmm maybe ham and egg with my noodles? I was more than fine with noodles. Honestly eating alone is horrible so I don't mind the company tonight." He tilted his head looking up at the cabinets in the kitchen before opening a few looking to see what was inside. "Your guy's kitchen is huge! The underclassmen's dorm is much smaller...its really neat." He hopped off the counter and smiled over to Rei, "What would you like to eat??" He asked excited for something a little less stressful that day. They hadn't really eaten lunch because they went and jerked each other off instead so he was more than a little hungry.

So they didn’t get along after all. Well, it was to be expected since Yoichi tended to provoke those who got too close to Rei. It had been like that the moment they became friends and it only got worse when they got into a relationship with each other. He pointed the other onto it as he didn’t want to be completely alone which made Yoichi realize that he wasn’t doing well with his actions. They squabbled a lot and both improved themselves bit by bit. One couldn’t expect miracles but minor changes could be seen and felt in the aura around them. Now it was quite different from when they met at first, those who were their friends since the beginning would confirm it as well. “It’ll be fine… I think.” He responded, rubbing his chin as he wasn’t too sure about it himself.

 

Rei hummed as he got the orders from Shu, searching the fridge for the few ingredients he would need to prepare the noodles. “Lucky that I invited you over then. Here at the dorm people always eat together, loner or not. We’re practically forced to do so or we would go mad with all the exams and such. It’s a hassle.” He responded with a chuckle. Now however it was pretty silent and they could eat in peace without being constantly interrupted. There were still some people left in the living room of the dormitory where a huge tv was standing and a couple of sofa’s so quite some people could take a seat. Some even brought their gaming consoles with them which was always nice. They even held a competition once, playing for the chores that had to be done at that time. Rei’s team lost though as they sucked at video games.

 

“Yeah, I know.” He said with a chuckle. “But despite it being small, it’s still cosy. Easier to find somebody too without running around in circles and getting lost which will eventually lead to giving up on finding them and doing something else instead.” He explained while a grin was placed upon his lips as he had seen it before. It was a pretty funny sight as the guy was almost going nuts with the fact that he couldn’t find his friend at all and decided to just sit in the living room to watch an action movie. Perhaps his cell phone died and needed to charge up.

 

“I might go for onigiri? I never managed to get it into that triangle shape and mostly ends up in a ball. Lots of stuffing please.” He said to Shu, feeling a little hungry now that he thought about it. It had also been a while since he ate those so it would taste even better. At least he hoped. He didn’t feel like puking it all out because the taste would be so horrible. Just as the president’s.

Shu chuckled softly and tilted his head a little looking over at the other. “Wow, I mean I don’t mind being alone. I was alone for most of my childhood so it’s not too big of a difference.” He shrugged and sighed a little. He stretched his arms over his head moving to the fridge and moving around things before finding a water bottle and pulling it out with a sigh. He was dying of thirst and thankfully there were plenty of drinks in the fridge.

 

Rei told him what he wanted and he smiled lightly with a nod, “Alright. I can do that.” He winked to Rei before moving around the kitchen finding things to make onigiri with. When he was younger his mother never cooked for him, his father forbid it. After they found out about his powers they forced him to either starve or learn how to cook. So of course he picked the latter and figured out how to cook. Onigiri was rather simple when you thought about it, it wasn’t all that hard long as you knew the technique that apparently Rei didn’t know.

 

He grabbed a cutting board and laid out the nori and moved his hands as he started to work the rice into some rather nice looking triangles. The filling was pre-made but other than that it was homemade. He stuffed them rather full and then finished wrapping the nori around the base to keep the rice from falling or breaking apart. He smiled a little over to Rei, “Maybe you just have a hard time with putting these in a triangle? You know they can be made as a ball too just not too traditional.” He said turning his attention back to his first fully made onigiri and then started preparing another to be made. He pushed the hair out of his face with his wrist trying not to get his hands in his hair which were sticky from the rice.

Rei smiled as Shu agreed to make the onigiri. He had been wanting to eat it for so long but none that he had so far really reminded him of home. He didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing yet, but there always seemed to be something missing. Sometimes it was the flavour in itself, other times it was the texture of the rice. The room started to smell good already as he prepped the ingredients for the noodle soup. He had become quite good at it since a lot of the people who lived here asked him to do the cooking since they practically sucked at it. So yeah, he preferred doing it himself and knowing that it was good than to fear for his life when eating it. As long as he could avoid that, they were good.

 

“Yeah, I just can’t get them into the right shape or the inside is a big mush at times. Perhaps because I overcooked some stuff? I don’t know.” He responded with a sigh, feeling a bit disappointed that he couldn’t make something as simple as that. It was like his kryptonite in the cooking area. “I could make a ball, that’d work. But at times I take the wrong ingredients and they end up soggy somehow. They taste good though but the texture isn’t exactly the best.” He chuckled as he remembered it. The others didn’t complain and ate their fair share. Well, they did just come out of combat class so they were hungry and didn’t care what it was as long as it was edible.

 

After a short while, dinner was done and he put the bowl of noodles in front of the other before taking a seat himself. Taking a quick look at the well done rice balls before taking a bite from one of them. They didn’t all have the same flavour. Some were filled with tuna and mayonnaise, others with salted salmon, then there was also umeboshi [pickled plums]. They tasted pretty good after a rough day. He could finally fill his stomach and feel more at ease, also his mood wouldn’t go bad from being hungry anymore. Oddly enough, he didn’t find anything was missing but enjoyed the dish like a kid would. Still not the same as home though but it came close.

 

Talking and eating for a little longer until they both finished their plates. Stretching out his arms as he saw the sun going under already. The event did go through until the evening but the sun went down even faster in a good presence. Stretching his arms which made popping sounds and slowly looked back at Shu. Not bothering to do the dishes since they didn’t make a lot dirty with cooking. “Well, I guess you should go now since there’s a curfew. If you hurry you might still be on time.” Rei commented as he gestured towards the clock. Only fifteen minutes left before they would patrol the dormitories and check if everyone’s in. It was a stupid thing but he couldn’t afford to be caught again in the act of being late.

 

When the other went on his merry way, he huffed as he sluggishly walked through the hallway and up to his own dorm room. Letting himself drop onto his bed. Luckily tomorrow was still a day off so he didn’t need to worry about classes or anything. Long live Sunday. Not even bothering to change out of his kimono, he fell asleep on the spot as he was tired from the day that had passed. A lot of messed up things happened at once and his body just couldn’t keep up with it anymore.

 

Loud knocking was to be heard on his door, barely managing to open one eye to see who it was. The president of the cosplay club. Of course. The guy had a big grin on his face which he would like to hit off of it at sight. But since his body didn’t feel like moving, he didn’t and just listened to the rambling of the other who waltzed into the room as if it was his own. Honestly that guy could be a serious pain in the ass at times. Rambling on about what happened yesterday and that they took care of everything which was a good thing but then it switched over to his romantic life which was in a complete mess since he couldn’t always read the atmosphere. Humming once in a while to the other in order to not make the president repeat himself over and over again which was seriously annoying.

 

“Anyway, are you going to do anything today? Want to go somewhere? Want to eat something with the others or do you want to go on a date with me instead?” The president bombarded. With one swift movement, Rei kicked the other from his bed with a nasty glare. “I just fucking woke up. Go downstairs and wait for me there or I’ll seriously hit you.” Rei ordered and the president agreed cheerfully, already used to Rei’s attitude before skipping out of the room. Groaning as he spread out onto his bed, gathering his strength to actually move.
