Cuffs, Collars, and Love Series #1 & #2 by Christa Tomlinson

I.HATE.THESE.BOOKS.

 

 

*sigh* I need to vent. I have no idea if this is the correct forum to do so but it says "reviews" so here I am.

 

I am referring to the Cuffs, Collars, and Love Series, specifically the book #1 & #2 (BECAUSE THAT'S HOW FAR I COULD GET. BARELY)

 

This was my review on Goodread for both books.

 

1) "** spoiler alert ** I had to take a nap after reading 20% of this book. That’s it.

 

But then I decided to hate myself some more and went to read the 2nd book and I went back to hating myself because that one was boring as well. *sigh* - 1 star"

 

2) "** spoiler alert ** I almost cried myself to sleep with this book. Out of boredom and anger. I couldn’t finish the first book of this series either; I got bored. At least the characters on that one dint piss me off, so that’s a win.

 

Oh but this one? My God is Ryan an insufferable character. He is proud, arrogant, won’t listen to good advice for his own good, refuses to play with the team (How can you possibly believe that being friends with the rest of the SWAT team it’s not a priority? It’s like being a soldier in the Army and thinking that developing a relationship with the other soldiers it’s not a priority. They NEED to have your back, your LIFE depends on it. If they think you’re a stuck up ass, good luck with that), he flat out says once that he “has connections to help him advance” towards being a member of the SWAT team (Instead of, you know...hard work, merit and being nice). I puked a little inside my mouth and I am pretty sure I rolled my eyes so hard they fell out of my skull and are rolling down the street right now. That’s when I stopped reading so, I don’t know anything about the ending, if he had a redeeming arch, which I don’t think he did by the reviews I’ve seen, and I honestly don’t care about it either.

 

Sam was weird too but he dint piss me off so I can live with that although I have 0 understanding on how he honestly managed to stay with Ryan and actually like him, as a submissive or human being for that matter, when I am pretty sure another submissive would have been perfect....ANY submissive, anyone at all.

 

As a practitioner of BDSM myself, Ryan is an awful submissive who has, apparently, too much baggage to be practicing BDSM, the correct way, that is and Sam, as a seasoned Dominant, should have seen and know that. Bleh."

 

Which, btw, don't get me wrong. I love a good bratty, somehow arrogant character but when it borderlines on annoying with a side of arrogant without any good qualities to balance the bad; you lost me.

 

Please put me out of my misery. I went into these novels with such high expectations. The covers look beautiful, the first book had an average of 4 stars and the second of between 4 and 5 stars so I thought to myself, holy crap this is going to be great. I was wrong. So so so wrong. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I am getting way to picky with my books lately as I get older but for god sake, that second book pissed me off and honestly? when you see the reviews of 2 stars or less we all have the same problem. The book is either boring or the MC's are just horrible.

 

 

So yeah. That was my rant review

Mind you when I say "BDSM" I meant the boring ass version of it. Some light "dirt talk", some "spanking", some "you better behave" bullshit and I think it had some "flogging" of some sort but idk because at this point I had already gone into a coma with no possibility of waking up. A lot of people liked the books though, so, take this "review" with a grain of salt.
