brohne
A recent blog post caught my attention. Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. . As a yaoi and adult anime lover I have a lot of questionable content on my laptops. My laptops also go everywhere with me. If I was stopped and my laptop searched, I could potentially be charged with having child porn. I don't have any, but that's not how some people see it. So, just a word of caution to those of you who travel with anime and manga on your phones or laptops. What are your feelings on this?
Karin
I think it's unfair! Having yaoi in my laptop is totally different from having child porn! Maybe it was a shota? But I think we should read our yaoi only at home.
Rei
I agree... maybe it was a shota or something... Anyway, I think it's unfair, an anime or manga is not the same with real child pornography.

misakixusagi
ive thought about it before as well! if people find the stuff on here, it could cause a few probs to say the least !, specially with boku no pico to be specific. but other stuff wouldnt be a prob right, only the stuff involving kids right?! i mean most stuff contains adults..i dnt really take my laptop around with me, just when im babysitting as the battery life is shite lol its scary to think of it like that though , could we actually get away with it.... saying it was just anime n manga.. id been thinking bout keeping it on a pen instead of directly on my laptop

hama71
That is reason... I remove all the shota I had in my external hard drive also in my laptop... Well I might still have some... because I just have to many Yaoi-mangas... --; Any way... I don't take my laptop any wear and also I put password in my laptop... So with out me no one is allowe to see what is in it... ^^; But, still I just worry some time... but, I can do much any more then I do now... --; Well so just keep everything in password... that no one know... even your family... ^^;
lilredphoenix
I have actually thought about that too, I usually don't need my own laptop when traveling the co proves one for business trips but what about traveling personally? I don't keep anything on my lap top really for fear if it gets lost/stolen so nothing is really saved on there of great importance, have external hard drive for that. I guess call me paranoid. Ginger
Pretty scary stuff. I don't use a laptop only a desk top. But I would be extremely careful traveling if I did have one especially in the US and Canada. I think a lot of people would not understand our love for this genre and mistake it for ...... wow I can't even imagine what they would think. I know my family thinks it's a bit strange but they are accepting. On the other hand one family member told me that she thought they ALL looked like little kids .....Yikes. That is just silly of course. I think that some people cannot distinguish between "art" and real life. What we enjoy is ART. We aren't pervy wankers. At least I don't feel we are

Ero Gaki
My files are very hidden, hahahahaha. It's even hard to find. I placed it somewhere, and named it in a not-suspicious file name. Hahahaha. XDD For the sake of Yaoi~
Guest Pen
You know what? I can watch anything or see anything in fact with my laptop or phone, and if they blame me for "child pornography" it's their fault not mine. Real Pornography is different from Manga/Anime anyway, so really people are so ignorant.
〜キキ〜
This is really only a major concern in airports (and especially in the US); A customs officer at an international border can search your belongings (including data on your laptop) without a warrant. Unfortunately If you don't give them any passwords to encryption you might have you will probably miss your flight and may have your computer seized... the best thing to do if you are worried IMO is to encrypt your 'questionable' folders and upload them somewhere like MEGA, then delete them off your computer before you travel... TBH I think It's ridiculous to prosecute someone for a drawing; all it is is ones and zeros, and sure the image may offend someone, but it's certainly not enough to be prosecuted for. To give an example of how ridiculous this is, there are some numbers in mathematics called "normal numbers"; the probability of a particular string of digits appearing in this number is the same for any string of digits (pi is a normal number for example). This means if you were to convert pi to binary, at some point you would be in possession of copyrighted, confidential, and/or illegal material. It's ridiculous! Peko
I agree with 〜キキ〜 like, it's just a darn diddly drawing. No harm done.
Kiwi-Senpai
I always have even a little bit of yaoi on me when I travel...~ That includes one or two Junjou Romanticas and the Maiden Rose OVA's on my laptop... Hum...I usually try and set a complicated password on some of them. And never leave my laptop out of my sight! ^o^ ...If someone would discover any of the naughty naughty stuff on it, I'd be doomed... ~
Anessen
I don't travel with yaoi, it honestly stays on the bookshelf. I don't want to get weird looks and such, lol.
Sebastian_Michaelis21
I really only have it on my laptop. O.o I have a folder on my computer hidden inside other folders for both Yaoi and Doujinshi's, including bookmarks on my browser of various sites I enjoy. Although I'm an adult and my laptop is private.. Nobody uses it but me and if they wanted to, they would use my guest account. But could I really get introuble with airport TSA for 'child porn' because of shota doujinshi? All I have is some SebbyxCiel or AloisxSebastianxClaude (Black Rose Butler). O.O I'm a little nervous about flying with my laptop now..
BlaqueCatt
It really isn't fair for people to judge like that without even knowing what yaoi/anime/manga really is.
Marygrace94
And now this applies to all of us…all the time. You no longer can assume that your have the right to purchase certain manga by mail and have them shipped to your house. You cannot assume you have the right to carry a few doujinshi on your laptop to read while on the plane. You cannot assume it won’t happen to you. You *must* presume that you will be searched and that someone who is not reasonable will have the right to decide whether what you are carrying looks questionable. If this sounds wrong to you – and it should – please support the CBLDF in their fight. Let’s shape the future into the one we want to live in, where we have the right to read whatever the hell we want. i took this from the article itself.. i think, this affects all of us here..haha thats totally what the!? haha, i mean, i too have lots of yaoi mangas's in my laptop as well as picture.. that's just so unfair.. it's not even child porn. Gatichan
I don't carry any pics or stuff like that on my phone *work-related reasons* and the only manga I have on my laptop is Vampire Knight for nostaligia's sake. But you are right after warning and that's why I thought I'd push the thread up again: depending on the country one is traveling to, yaoi contents could really be interpreted as (child) pornografic
