carminex3
Hello everyone! I'm in some dire need of some good reads. My favorites include: - Captive Prince series - what did it for me was the sex scene in book 2. I was hooked. Restraint, confusion, want and desire, and restraint. - All for the Game series - The Wicker King - Beautiful Monsters - Wolfsong - Some Ginn Hale stuff - Take my picture, Swift & the Black Dog, Lord of the White Hell - Seven of Spades -THROAM - my all time favorite! cry me tears of a river, I can probably never read this again, but I've never had a book affect me so much I could really use some recs! I usually enjoy more fantasy elements in a book, and I would prefer if it was plot orientated as well. Thanks!
meow_meow
Have you read Special Forces by Aleksandr Voinov? I haven't read the Captive Prince series yet, but I have a hunch that SF is a lot more dark, brutal and depressing (and it's fucking long too--three books). There are some parts that I personally don't like (some of the group sex scenes and the fisting lol), but as a whole, it's definitely worth it. It's a million words long, since it spans around 20-30 years of the couples' life. Read some reviews first (there are a lot of nice reviews in Goodreads) before falling into the SF rabbit hole because it's definitely not for the faint of heart. It's geared towards a more mature and open-minded audience. Hope that helps.

AAAA i'm so excited to read your list, because DAMN, The Wicker King, Beautiful Monsters & Wolfsong are LITERALLY three of my most favorite MM of all time:D ahah so I hope that maybe some other of my favorites you might enjoy as well.. I don't read a lot of fantasy though T_T (meanwhile, I'm checking the other books on your list xD) Stealing Innocents - fucked up, messed up & so amazing!!! (Thank you Suida..^^) Tentacles for the Brides Bouquet - if you ignore the first chapter (it's very very different from the rest of the book!) & don't mind lots of editing problems & editing problems, it's just practically angst the whole way through. so confusing, because you really don't know what is the right thing to do & how to feel & who is right.. I love it:D Call Me By Your name - I mean, everyone loves it:D How are you with Josh Lanyon? I love him, and his style is similar to Seven Spades:D (or so I've been told:D).. Muscling Through - not sure why, but I adore this book:) Have you tried other TJ Klune books besides Wolfsong? He can be angsty & he can be really funny:) My recent favorite was "Tell Me it's Real" series, and I think I loved book 2 even more, but both are amazing. As for the Fantasy elements, he also has Lightning Struck Heart, and I mean, it's amazing:) Violence Begets is a bit like the Wicker King, but look up the trigger warnings, it's a much darker story. I adore it, but not ready to reread it. like ever xD The Song of Achilles is magic & like an absolute MM classic:D:D You should definitely check it out:) Trailer Trash is another one of my favorites, again a bit like The Wicker King The Ark Series by Jesse Daro is a lot of fun:) that's what came to mind when I read your list:) I hope you will enjoy..^^

I just added them to my Goodreads Want to Read list. Sounds like you like angst! (I do too... hard to push through though HAHA). Er lets see, I'm excited to check out Stealing Innocents, and Violence Begets! I've definitely tried Call Me By Your Name. Man the first part just killed me. Its so relatable yet so hard for me to read. I gave up at the second part. Not too big a fan of Josh Lanyon-- tried a bit of his Andrien English & the Mermaid Murders one. TJ Klune is strange. Like while I love Wolfsong, and the Lightning Struck Heart was good, I couldn't finish his How to Be a Normal Person. His Immemorial Year series I feel weird about. I loved the first book, but the second was too long for me, ( I think pacing is important for my interest haha) I gave up halfway. I'll def check out his Tell me its real now! Song of Achilles made me cry tears of a river AHHA dang. It made me take a Classics class. Let me know what you think of my favorites after reading! Would love to continue this convo (over PM?) auser
Please Register/ Sign In, in order to see the links. - that is correct!! aha angst is what I live for:D and yes, yes, yes we WILL continue this conversation, because I found them all yesterday & I'm already pretty sure I will read most of your recommendations this month:D Not sure if I start with Captive Prince (it's been recommended so many time, it must be incredible) or the heart rate of a mouse YAY!! Stealing Innocents is MAGICAL! And so is Violence Begets, you can't really go wrong with them. Mmm, Josh Lanyon is definitely less angsty out of all the books I mentioned here, and he writes my ultimate comfort books, when I want to calm down:) But still, I would say that Andrien English & the Mermaid Murders might easily be my least favorite of his works. If you do decide to give him another chance, my personal favorites would be the second boook in the Mermaid Murders Series - Monet Murders, also Somebody Killed his editor (funny) & In the Dark Woods (it's a short story, DON'T read the description, just read it itslef. For some reason it is still my absolute favorite of his (well hers xD) But I thought of a more Seven Of Spades type of book and that would be Bitter Legacy - I finished it just a few days ago, and it might be more of what you're looking for.. it's angsty angsty angsty ahah:D Not my favorite, but it's good:) As for TJ Klune, can't really tell you my thoughts, because I read MUCH less of his works than you did, and so far they were all fun. Except for "Into this River I drown", because I DNF'd it ahah oh well.. "tell me it's real" is definitely more on a funny side, but there are some quite interesting body image issues thoughts as well... give it a go, although maybe other books on my list would interest you more..
