“Don’t be to mean to him” yukie replied puffing up a little before streatching and picking up his egg he moved to snuggle up against Ayme the merman liking his new mate. “I want to go to the platform...we need to get him somewhere where he can breathe when he hatches.” Yukie explained the male stressing over the fact he would have to keep the child above the water for awhile so his lungs could breathe while he figured out how to work his gills. Yukie picking up the egg swam past his mate circling the top of the tank where if one wanted to they could reach and touch his tail.

 

“Yukie seems off.” Lucas mumbled watching the ‘mother’ swim around in circles around the tank looking for a way out it seemed.

"Yukie! Over here!"

 

Adrian tried calling for the more docile of the merman pair, and his undoubtedly favorite. They hadn't been together long at all yet their bond was already growing stronger and the man had high hopes for the both of them to use this as a valuable learning experience for each other.

The marine biologist tried to help show Yukie that he could swim over this way and that he would help to get him out of the water with his baby included.

 

"This way~ That's it..."

 

He waited for the other to relax and trust him fully as he carefully scooped the sea creature and his little one out of the water with both arms wrapped around, holding him firmly against his chest as he lowered them into the transport tank.

Yukie once in the tank relaxed and settled down in the water keeping his body above the water line. Yukie with a yawn looked around the room only to freeze at the sight of Lucas and instantly puffed up letting out a very deadly hiss to the strange man. “Shit!” Lucas yelled jumping back from the male keeping a healthy distance from Yukie not wanting to get bit. “I thought you said he was the nice one” Lucas asked wanting to help move the tank but not really willing to go near Yukie Beu of course coming in and watching the exchange.

 

“Seems mum doesn’t like you~” Beu teased before going to Yukie who deflated the second Beu came to his tank to move him to the new area. “Shame if you end up touching him or his baby the two might tear you to shreads” Beu added before chuckling st Lucas’s terrified expression.

"Be nice, Yukie! That's only Lucas and he's a good guy, I promise~"

 

Adrian reached down to carefully pet the merman's head since that seemed to be the spot that didn't have the spikes in any way of piercing his hand.

 

"Yukie IS nice! Aren't you~"

 

The trainer praised as he continued to play with the creature's hair fondly, hoping that the action was enjoyable for mermen the same way it was for humans. Almost everyone liked having their hair touched, as far as he knew.

 

"He just has to get used to him."

 

He grinned over at his boss as he carefully pushed Yukie down the hallway and to his new home.

 

"I hope you both like it... Mr. Beu spent a lot to make this place just perfect for you, the egg, and Ayme~"

 

The man carefully helped to lift Yukie back up from the tank and into the new water, and he just couldn't contain his own excitement and went right in with him.

Yukie in turn hissed at the petting finding the action quite strange the male puffing up in a silky act of defense. “Oh yeah he’s real nice” Lucas replied watching yukie puff up and hiss at Beu now the male uncomfortable and feeling threatened.

 

“Just put him in the water” Beu demanded not wanting yukie to get more aggressive then he was already displaying. The second yukie was lifted into the water he immediately went into the cave hiding in the smallest little cave opening not liking the new tank nor the fact that the mate who protected him and his young was nowhere to be seen.

Adrian hung his head a bit in shame at the reprimanding, but his boss was right. He didn't want to say told you so, but Yukie didn't seem happy about the change in environment.

He pulled himself out of the tank and went to go fetch the more aggressive of the pair.

 

Ayme was already waiting in the same spot that Yukie had been carried out of the water, he seemed more docile, just fixated on being returned to his mate since he had seen stupid A-- whatever his name was, take Yukie away.

 

The marine trainer eyed the mermen cautiously, unsure of why he was acting so good now, he tried to reached into the water half expecting to get stung or bitten, but Ayme was limp in his arms.

 

"Are you up to something...?"

 

Adrian asked the sea creature underneath his breath as he moved him into the tank, but Ayme didn't say a word. He carted him over to the new exhibit and then just letting Ayme be himself, the merman jumped right out of the tank and into the water, the only thing on his mind was finding his mate.

This tank was bigger and had more hiding spots so it took him awhile to find Yukie pressed up in the back of one of the multiple caves.

Yukie puffed up suddenly upon seeing the intruder clearly scared since he had been taken from Ayme. But, upon seeing his mate he de puffed and swam over to Ayme moving to hug him tightly having been quite terrified. “Don’t leave again....please” yukie whispered his voice shaky and scared.

 

“Seems yukie came back out once Ayme was set back in the tank” Beu replied to Adrian the man watching the two snuggle with a frown. “We can keep this place sealed off for awhile...I don’t want any more stress on them. Last thing we need is the child being hurt” Beu mumbled having noticed Yukie had left the child in the cave the male having been more worried about where his mate was at the moment.

Ayme wrapped his body around Yukie almost possessively, but he was also stressed out and squeezing onto someone helped him to relax. He had enough of humans... All he wanted was to be around his own kind and back home... yet there was no home for him to return to. It was so severely over fished and polluted, there was nothing left.

This may have been an artifical environment, but at least it was safe and clean. There was places to hide and plenty of fish to eat, no predators other than the humans. But these ones hadn't harmed them yet.

 

"I agree... I truly hope they can learn to like it here."

 

Adrian nodded a bit sadly, for him seeing creatures in pure distress like that was one of the most heart breaking things to witness. Especially when all he wanted to do was show them that things were going to be okay now.

 

Ayme suddenly let go of his mate and shot right into the cave, searching every corner until he found the egg and curled himself around it, if Yukie needed a break to go hunting he would take care of the little one.

"They should settle down soon" Beu added watching the two snuggle before getting up and going to his office to pay bills.

 

"...It's going to be born" Yukie whispered to his mate the merman watching the egg the walls of the egg quite clear showing the beautiful child inside that...Was Well albino.

"He doesn't have normal coloring I started to be able to see him more when we moved but, I want to find a place with air so he can breathe" Yukie added clearly shy about asking.his mate to help him with his child's birth.

"Can I show him where it is?"

 

Ayme asked politely, still holding onto the child as he carefully nudged the orb into his own pouch for transporting him to the part of the tank he had glanced at which was like an incline, so where the the water was deep it was eventually shallower as you went up.

This was acting the ramp for mostly Adrian's use to get in and out of the tank easier, but it turned out to be just the right thing for their child to hatch, being both close to the water and the land.

 

The merman swam out of the cave, making sure that Yukie was following behind him, this new tank was so much larger with more space and attractions that even Ayme didn't know what was all in here and he would be sure to explore it after their child hatched out.

All was going smoothly until he spotted that man again, puffing up he did the thing again, using the ramp to shoot himself up and land on the deck, only half submerged as he hissed at Adrian, causing the marine biologist to back off.

 

Ayme eyed the man suspiciously until he was nice and far against the wall before he wriggled back into the water on the ramp way and carefully popped the egg back out to so it could be half in the water and half on the land. Despite his violent movements the egg was completely unshaken as the pouch protected it from the outside and even internal impact with the later of flesh that was shock absorbent around the inner pouch.

Yukie watched nervously worried about the child since it was quite different from the normal parents coloration. With a small puff he stayed close to Ayme feeling quite safe as the small frail child finally came into the world it's red eyes blinking up at Ayme curiously. "Hes so tiny" Yukie whispered looking the infant over as the child adjusted to breathing air for the first time.

The only trouble with the ramp was the shape of the egg caused it to roll back down into the deeper water so Ayme ended up having to hold the orb in his hands, keeping it just above the water as it hatched in his palm, so small and helpless, but beautiful... He'd never seen coloring like this before. Yet it didn't seem to matter to the merman much as he cradled the child closer against his chest.

 

"Welcome to the world..."

With a small squeak the child struggled to breathe but once against his father's chest calmed greatly feeling quite safe and warm. The child was quite small for his breed when born. But despite that his body was quite beautiful and his fins where elegant and long. "Hes pretty" Yukie whispered looking at the small child he had carried around for so long. With a brush of his hand he smoothed the child's thick white hair somewhat in awe as the infant wiggled a little in Ayme's arms not liking being out of the water since his body had been in a watery egg for so long.

 

The infant was rather quite much different then others growing up seeming to save his strength for breathing and looking around at his new home. His hand and face snuggled into Ayme already demanding to be fed and cared for.

Ayme's instincts had taken over, and it wasn't like this was his first time raising a child so he knew exactly what to expect.

But he knew this time would have to be different because this child was so small... and they were in an environment created by humans to serve their needs first. Ayme didn't trust Adrian at all, the man would probably treat them like a circus.

 

"His name is Cheri."

 

The merman suddenly said as he planted a kiss on the white haired head of their child, slowly submerging them both back underneath the water as he held onto their son tightly, still giving him a moment to adjust before allowing him to swim on his own.

He then pulled Yukie into the embrace so that the child was surrounded by them both, so that he knew he was going to be loved and protected by both.

Cheri was quick to adjust to going back into the water his gills working perfectly fine. Cheri blushed looking at his parents and their new home his little fins puffing up unsure of the wide open space. Yukie laughed at the sudden puffing up and ruffled the child's hair before snuggling into his mate. "Hes so cute" Yukie whispered watching Cheri figure out how to swim and move around in their protective circle the infwant quite wobbly.

 

"My, I'm glad our cameras captured the miracle of birth" Beu mumbled watching the two swimming around in a protective stance around their new child. "I'm don't envy who's going to try and get the child out for a medical checkup and observation" Beu added knowing the child would need a full physical to make sure Cheri was healthy.

Ayme was there to steady and guide Cheri through his first strokes through the water, he wanted his son to know that he'd always be there to support him, the same went for his mate as well of course. And he nuzzled against Yukie gently.

 

"You did good."

 

Ayme praised softly with a smile, the other merman having done all the hard work of growing the egg and then protecting it almost all by himself up until recently when Ayme came in.

 

Meanwhile, that lucky bastard who was going to have to catch the baby for the medical examination happened to be none other than your's truly: Adrian.

Even he wasn't really looking forward to this, it would only make the pair hate him more but Cheri's health was the top priority and some things that were good for the mermen would be things that scared them and they would just have to accept that.

 

With a heavy sigh and suited back up again for the water, the male slowly made his way down the ramp, trying to seem as none threatening as possible.

 

"I... I brought you some fish..."

 

The man muttered, holding out some sardines.

"Thank you" Yukie whispered snuggling into his mate as he watched Cheri swim close by gently adjusting the child and helping his new son alongside his mate. Yukie smiled as Cheri swam around cutely and snuggled up into his parents arms enjoying the warmth and closeness. With a cute yawn Cheri curled up on Yukie's chest the male holding him close to his body happy to finally be able to hold the child he had waited so long for. Yukie smiled but suddenly his behind Ayme a little seeing Adrian standing in the tank.

 

"....he's not hungry" Yukie mumbled holding the new infant all the more closer to his body his fins instinctively puffing up in fear of Adrian taking the child away like.He had taken Ayme away earlier.

"... Are you sure? I figured hatching must take a lot of energy so he must be starving."

 

Adrian remarked with a shy smile as he waited for the pair to come over, but more specifically Yukie and Cheri.

 

Ayme waited for the man to give in and just throw the fish into the water but the stubborn human just sat there on the ramp not even moving, all he did was run his mouth.

 

"I'd like to meet your baby... I'm going to help you take care of him."

 

Adrian stated gently, and Ayme didn't like the sound of this and suddenly swam right over all puffed up and offended.

 

"Since when did you become his father?!"

 

Ayme snapped, hissing at the human male who didn't even move.

 

"I'm just trying to help..."

 

The marine trainer murmured, then Ayme scoffed.

 

"Yeah, you humans are so helpful the way you think you own everything and destroy other's homes then lock them up in glass cages for your own amusement!"

“Ayme....” yukie scolded suddenly not wanting his mates to fight as he puffed a little in worry. “...your not allowed to make him leave like you did Ayme...Cheri stays with us” yukie added his voice being quite firm but soft enough to where he wouldn’t wake Cheri who was hiding against his mothers arms. “You can see him if you agree to those terms” yukie added the merman clearly anting to trust Adrain but, he was afraid his child would get hurt or worse get taken away if someone else touched him. With a moment of silence yukie slowly calmed himself and de puffed before looking down at Cheri. “You do anything bad to him and I’ll rip you apart” yukie whispered the male dead serious as he moved close enough to where Adrain could come over and take the child.

"I need to take him to make sure that is healthy, but I promise I'll bring him right back... Or would you like to go with him?"

 

Adrian suggested, and Ayme feeling incredibly jealous as usually puffed up and swam circles around the marine biologist to gain his attention before hugging his mate and child tightly from behind.

 

"... He can come too so long as he doesn't bite or try to escape."

 

The man said, looking right into the merman's eyes as he said this and Ayme nodded in understanding. He just wanted to protect his mate and child.

Once both sea creatures settled down and Yukie's body language relaxed followed by the invitation, even if it held some threats, Adrian wasn't afraid as he reached into the water and pulled Cheri up into his arms delicately.

 

"Hi, little guy..."

 

The man cooed softly, not wanting to scare the small child as he carefully ran his hands over him to check that everything was normal. Aside from his rare albinism and being on the tinier side he saw nothing outwardly wrong with him

Yukie watched carefully unsure with how Adrian was holding him. With a small puff of his fins he watched closely as he checked over the child Yukie was wondering what was wrong with their baby and his nervousness showed through. With a small sigh Yukie snuggled into Ayme's body wanting to go back to the bigger tank but at the same time due to the extreme stress of today he was exhausted and was quite unenergetic.

Adrian could see that Yukie wasn't really certain about this, so he carefully handed the child back to his mommy and gently stroked the other's hair.

 

"Don't look so sad... He seems healthy so far. No doubt thanks to you caring for him so well this whole time."

 

The man smiled, diving into the water so he could watch the family of mermen up close and offer help if they needed it, but Ayme still wasn't so fond of sharing his mate and every time Adrian swam too close to Yukie, he would 'herd' his mate and child away from the wretched human. Puffing out his barbs and everything, but it was more of a show then a real threat. He was just as nervous, if not even more, than Yukie about being in this place.

With a sigh Yukie took back the child and once back in the tank went down to his nest. With a brush of his tail he fixed up the nest and settled down into it with the child wanting to rest since he was quite tiered. Yawning cutely Yukie settled down the child snuggled against Yukie for warmth.

Adrian followed the pair into the cavern, Ayme did try to push him out several times until the Marine biologist took out some fish and tossed them aside to distract the mermen for a few minutes while he went in to visit Yukie and his child.

 

"How are you both doing? Is there anything I can do to help?"

 

The man offered as he watched Cheri cuddle up to his mother, it really did remind him more of dolphins or other types of whales then fish. Even if the merman's tail resembled one more.
