An Ancient Feud (Private, 18+)

[Sathenus]

The "mine" he received in return made a small smile appear on his face despite the fact that he still refused to open his eyes. At least until Tenmo was stretching his limbs and getting up forcing him to do the same with a soft sigh. After a few moments he dragged himself out of the tent and out into their actual camp which really only consisted of the tent and their fire pit. Not much, they didn't want to leave a permanent mark on the terrain after all. Turning towards Tenmo when his wolf had managed to bring himself to leave the tent as well he gave him a small smile. "You hungry? We could go out for a little hunt. You kill it... I drink a little from it, you get to eat it." Kaine suggested feeling a little peckish himself. After that encounter with the natives here he didn't want to let his thirst go for too long.

"I am almost always hungry.." Tenmo teased with a low chuckle. "I am just joking but a hunt sounds good right about now. We will keep a better eye and ear out this time around as we go hunting. Make sure we are a bit more vigilante since we know what is out there. Regardless of that, I need a good filling meal" He laughed as he returned to his wolf form. "Make sure you get a good drink now darling" He flicked his tongue in a kiss over the others hand before he surveyed the area, looking for the best spot to start. "Let's start this way" He said as he stalked toward the clump of trees.

Kaine laughed softly when Tenmo told him he was almost always hungry in a teasing manner with a low chuckle. "Maybe to a point." He mused nudging his husband gently in the side when the wolf added that he was just joking. "Glad to hear it!" Kaine really was happy to hear that Tenmo was up for a hunt today even if he knew they'd have to be far more careful because of their run in with the natives. "We'll keep a good eye and ear out for the natives. Wouldn't want to bother them more than we already have." Kaine agreed with a nod. After making sure he was ready for their hunt he gave the wolf a smile as he felt his husband's tongue flick over his hand in a kiss. "I'll get a good drink out of it, I promise. Now, you do your stuff, handsome." Kaine replied.

 

It was a moment later that Tenmo was leading the way towards a clump of trees and he was more than happy to follow his puppy. For awhile they moved through the trees and Kaine did his best to keep an extra set of eyes and ears out for the natives not wanting to encroach on the group again. Suddenly Kaine became aware of something that made him stop in his tracks head turning in that direction. It sounded like a young child but that wasn't the only thing that drew his attention. There was another sound one that had set off the alarm in him. "Tenmo." Kaine said his voice clearly coming off a bit distressed and worried. He didn't even wait for Tenmo to respond before he was moving off in the direction that had caught his attention and upon his arrival he could see what had alarmed him so much.

 

 

Ren had wandered away from the village not wanting to be under such watchful gazes all the time. He didn't know why they were all suddenly paying him more attention than normal but he did know that he didn't really like it. So when the first opportunity showed itself he wasted no time slipping away to play in the thick jungle and enjoy some time alone for a little while. Kneeling down he was playing with a stick and drawing in the soft dirt beneath one of the many large trees completely unaware of his surroundings. Not noticing that he was apparently being watched by a large predator that happened to have it's eyes set on him while he had let his guard down.

Tenmo was leading the hunt, keeping his alertness and focus on any wild game that may be lurking about the woods. He was atune to the presence of any natives but his main focus was on the hunt. While he would see any natives surely, the second eyes that were his husbands would alert him to any approaching natives should his focus be led astray. It seemed the hunt was being put on hold as the other saying his name seemed off for being an alert to any potential meal. He followed the other to see what was causing the worry.

 

He noticed what was definitely a little child of the native tribe off on his own and the sight of a wild predator with the clear body language of making the child its next meal with its vulnerable unaware status. Any hesitation and that boy would be quickly made into the predators snack. He quickly pounced on the waiting predator, getting into a fight with it. They thrashed about, Tenmo getting a few scrapes but after a few moments, he managed to take down the predator. He huffed and puffed, looking around for the kid

Kaine was glad that Tenmo went after the large predator knowing that he wasn't as equipped to fight one as his boyfriend was. As Tenmo was struggling with the animal he had run over to the child and scooped him up into his arms not wanting him to get hurt by an accident. There was no surprise that Tenmo had managed to win and he let out a sigh of relief as his eyes moved to the boy in his arms who was looking up at him with large brown eyes that seemed to be nothing but curious and interested in the vampire holding him. Giving the child a small friendly smile he spoke, "I'm glad you're safe. But... you should try to be a bit more careful." With that Kaine moved to set the boy down though it seemed that the child was unwilling at first.

 

Ren had been completely surprised when he had been scooped up from his spot with no warning. Looking up to see a man holding him that he had never seen before. Even the scent of the other was new and it made his curiosity grow tremendously. Glancing towards the sounds of a fight he could see a wolf fighting with one of the native predators and it dawned on him what was happening. It surprised him that he had let his guard down so much that he hadn't noticed he was being stalked. As he was being put back down on his feet he was a bit unwilling because he wanted to know more about the pair. "Thank you... for saving me." Ren said as his eyes moved from the man to the wolf. It was with pure curiosity that he reached towards the wolf wanting to touch it since he had not seen an animal like it ever before. Though he could still tell by the scent that this wasn't an animal but was something more. His fingers brushed the fur so lightly at first that he almost missed the soft texture of it. At that point since he had not been snapped at he took a step closer to push his hand into the fur more his expression clearly one of amazement.

Tenmo breathed heavily, glad he was able to protect the small child. While he did not know the boy, it would have broke him to have seen the slaughter of a young soul if he had seen it and had been unable to stop it. The other seemed to be unharmed entirely and seemed somewhat assumed by Kaine and himself. Even if amused was not the right word, he seemed to hold a child like wonder and curiosity in his eyes. He wasn’t sure about the others scent but he couldn’t do anything to the kid. He watched as the little kid came right up to him with no fear. No wonder he didn’t see the predator or notice his surroundings. He was a bit surprised by the gentle brushing and patting of his fur. He relaxed a bit more after a moment, laying down on the ground so the child could more easily pet him.

Seeing the wolf lie down made Ren happily and carelessly move closer standing right next to him and petting him without any fear. Enjoying the feeling of the soft fur which definitely felt different than what he was used to from the members of the tribe. As he was petting the wolf his eyes moved to it's large paws and he quick to go from petting to inspecting the other's feet not even realizing that it might be weird or uncomfortable. "You got big paws... not like the other's but still really big..." He said as he was inspecting them. Pocking the pads gently and taking note of even the difference in texture compared to the pads of the tribe members when they were in their cat forms. This was a whole knew experience a whole new chance for him to experience this. Quickly going from the paws he moved to the ears feeling those and finding them soft and cute even if they twitched at his touch. It was a second later he was at the tail admiring how fluffy it was and not as long and sleek as he was used to seeing.

 

Kaine had amusement written all over his face as he watched the child so happily and curiously inspect his husband. "I think he likes you." Kaine told Tenmo as his eyes met the other's before moving back to the child who had soon gotten over Tenmo and was now inspecting the predator that his husband had to kill in order to protect him. "Should we... take him back to the village or... what's the protocol for this? We can't just leave him here alone..." Kaine said softly not feeling right about possibly leaving the child here alone after this.

Tenmo still wasn’t quite sure how to react to a small child touching his paws but thankfully had prior experience with Solaria. But for a werechild that was a cat to be doing it was a whole new experience. He eyed the other carefully as it seemed he was getting a full body inspection. He couldn’t help a tail wag when the other was petting his tail, thumping it happily against the dirt. He chuckled when Kaine mentioned the child liking him, getting up. “It seems so..And certainly not” He spoke in reference to not wanting to leave him there.

 

“Kaine, can you walk beside or carry the little one here? I am sure bringing this back to them will be a pleasant peace offering” Tenmo smiled warmly before turning into his human form but with his ears and tail. He hoisted the predator into his arms, figuring they can hunt again after this

"Sure." Kaine replied reaching for the boy who had no problem with him picking him back up. Turning to Tenmo who had picked up the body of the predator he figured that this would be a good peace offering to the tribe. Kaine let the little boy show them the way by pointing in the direction they needed to go retracing his steps.

 

"You smell funny." Ren said the moment he was picked up nose wrinkling a little. It wasn't an unpleasant smell but it was definitely new. Ren was happy to hold onto the other and point out the direction back to the village. Happily talking their ear off about different things not even caring that a little while ago his life was in danger. It wasn't anything new, ones life always being in danger in these forests.

Tenmo chuckled as the little boy was talking his ear off about any old thing. He answered a few, liking the little boys attitude. He reminded him of Otso a bit, his care free attitude even after ah omg faced something dangerous. Even if he didn’t, he was a cute kid in general. They were all getting closer to the tribe, noticing one of the tribesman looking for something frantically.

 

Shit shit shit where was he?! Where is Ren?! Ash was panicking when he couldn’t find him, running about before he got a scent. Those two..the blood sucker and the wolf. He turned with a glare and saw there had a large carcass and..”Ren!” He shouted, running towards them

Ren was still excitedly taking to the two as they made their way to the village. Upon their arrival he heard Ash's familiar voice casing out his name stopping his new talk about a pretty bird he saw on their way back. "I made new friends, Ash!" Ren happily said a bright smile on his face. It didn't occur to him that the pair hadn't been friends to the tribe. They were his friends now and that's all that mattered to him.

 

Kaine moved to put the boy down when Ash came running towards them but Ren held on tighter objecting. Making him laugh softly before he was existing that he was safe now and didn't need to be carried. Ren was still a bit unwilling but finally let go and Kaine turned his attention back to Ash now. "We ran into him in the guests being stalked by a pretty large predator. Were child or not." Kaine said pointing to the carcass that Tenmo was holding.

Ash was a bit more hesitant in his approach, quickly scooping up Ren. He was on all fours, placing the little boy on his back. “I was worried sick about you, You could have been killed!” He said worried before looking to the duo. He looked between the carcass and the strange pair before letting Ren get off his back if he Chose to do so. He went up to it, taking a few sniffs when Tenmo dropped it in front of him. “...Thank you” He said quietly, seeing that Ren seemed comfortable and safe.

 

Tenmo could see a few of the other members of this tribe seemed to be looking their way, peacing together what had happened. “I am glad we were able to take care of him. Quite a talkative young lad” He said with a chuckle and a smile. For a werecat child..he was kind of cute and innocent

"I was just exploring." Ren replied with a frown as he was quickly scooped up by Ash. His hands gripped the other tightly as he was moved to Ash's back. Despite being given the opportunity to get down if he wanted after Ash had inspected the pair and the carcass he made no move to get down. "We saw a pretty bird on the way back and a deer and there was a monkey!" Ren quickly filled Ash in on some of the things they'd talked about and saw.

 

 

"We're just glad he's safe." Kaine replied when Ash thanked them. He was glad they had been able to save Ren and keep him safe. The boy was a cute kid who clearly had an adventurous side and he felt it wasn't the first nor the last time he'd be doing so.

Ash sighed as he found it too difficult to stay angry at him. He was just glad he was safe and glad the strangers were there for him when he wasn’t able to be. “Did you now Ren..?” He purred, nuzzling Ren happily as he was grateful he was his normal happy self. He felt like a big brother to the boy, making sure he stayed safe and was well fed. “You have the tribes thanks..I will put in a good word strangers” He said as he took a bite from the meal. “You’re bleeding..” He said quietly.

 

Tenmo wished he could be eating that meal right now, his tail wagging like mad behind him. “As long as Ren is safe, that’s all we are thankful for” He smiled warmly, clutching at a scratch on his arm. “Oh this..? It’s nothing” He said with a grin

A bright smile appeared on Ren's face when Ash nudged him with his nose. After giving the other a tight hug he was slipping from his back and becoming a little panther cub he was quick to dart around Ash's ankles before he was darting off disappearing for only a moment. When he returned it was to pounce on Ash with a meek little roar feeling playful and wanting to practice not caring that Ash had a mouthful of food at the moment. Green feline eyes went to Tenmo at the mention of blood seeing the cut on the other's arm. Darting over he was standing up perched on the man's leg and pawing at his hand wanting to see the cut.

 

 

Watching Ren so playfully and carelessly dart around definitely made him think of Otso. It was refreshing to see that despite the dangers that their home held that kids like Ren could still be kids. Kaine's eyes moved to his husband at the mention of blood suddenly becoming concerned. "We should take a look at it. The humidity here makes you more susceptible to infection." He expressed his concern.

Ash was taking a bite of food when he suddenly felt the pouncing Of little Ren. He quickly swallowed before playfully patting at the others head. He chuckled at the other before the stranger called Tenmo mentioned blood. He went full cat, slowly going towards the other when Ren was trying to look at the cut. “That’s is rather deep..The least I can do in thanks is get you healed by one of our elders..” He said quietly before backing up. “You will follow me..” He said softly, going back to his human form. “Ren, leave it alone. Be gentle” He said quietly as he started to walk towards the tribe.

 

Tenmo was careful to show Ren and Ash the cut, surprised when he was offered healing. Saving Ren must have been a big influence..He thought as the others were-cat form was..kind of adorable. Definitely would get along with Otso if they knew one another..Definitely Solaria. He followed the other, making sure he minded the curious cubs steps underneath him

Being told to leave it alone Ash telling him to be gentle. As they started walking through the village he walked along with them occasionally slinking between their feet. When they drew closer to the building Ren dashed forward and stopped just outside of the building turning to wait for them to catch up.

 

Kaine followed the group a little worried about the cut but glad that it'd be tended too. He knew he shouldn't be worried as he was but couldn't seem to help it. Feeling the anxiety in him increase for a moment. "Let's get you looked at." He said eyes moving to his husband before his gaze moved back to Ash.

“Don’t go so fast..! They won’t be going anywhere” Ash chuckled at Ren so eager to get to the healing elders tent. “How about you stay by the tent while our visitors are here okay? Keep you out of trouble. Be a little guard” He chuckled, patting the others head when everyone approached the tent. “Elder..The two from yesterday have saved Ren from a predator in the woods. The wolf needs healing, he sustained a deep cut” He said quietly, stepping aside.

 

Tenmo stepped into the tent with a small polite now at the older woman. He sat down beside her, seeing Ash having left the tent and going somewhere outside. It seemed little Ren was too curious as he was sticking around. He winced when the woman was putting stuff on the cut, it stinging like hell as he tried not to howl or growl from the pain. His tail kept thumping against the ground as a sort of outlet

"I get to guard?!" Ren excitedly said. He didn't get to guard anything and was normally told to go play. It didn't matter that it was two outsiders he was still really excited and happy by the opportunity. Watching Ash and the other two enter the tent he was sitting outside the door keeping a watchful gaze on things around them. When Ash came back out he looked up at the other watching him before his eyes returned to watching everything else. Determined to show that he could be a good guard.

 

Kaine followed Tenmo and Ash into the tent giving the determined little Ren a smile. Inside the tent his eyes took in the space which definitely seemed bigger than one would initially think. Sitting down on the other side of Tenmo he watched as the older woman started tending to the wound in his arm. He reached out to hold his husbands hand since he could tell by his eyes and the way his tail was thumping against the ground that it must have really hurt. It was for the best thigh and it'd really help, the tribe being better suited to treat such wounds than they would be back at camp.

Tenmo watched Ren guarding their tent and thought it was the cutest thing. His child like determination to do a job he apparently didn’t get to do much. It is hard to trust kids with jobs or at all but being given this job seemed like a big deal. It helped him focus away from the burning sensation in the cut, claws coming out a tiny bit as he was holding the others hand. He did make sure he wasn’t hurting Kaine in the process. “You’re doing a good job Ren” He said through his teeth

Ren was doing his best to stay focused on the task he was given even if he occasionally got distracted by birds flying by overhead. He was always quick to snap his attention back to what he was supposed to be doing. Pleased to be allowed such a task to begin with. When he was told he was doing a good job he sat up straighter a clearly pleased look on his face. "Thanks!" Ren happily replied his tail flicking lazily.

Tenmo chuckled at how happy he looked, his tail thumping in a happier manner thinking of the kid. He didn’t even realize he was bandaged up and cleaned up until the elder woman pat his arm. Even in his wolf form he jus turned into, the bandage remained as he pokes his head out of the tent. He sat beside him, looking down at him. Damn cute kid..He thought yet again with a chuckle but left him be to ‘guard’. Hopefully he can show some good will playing with the kid later

"Thank you." Kaine thanked the older woman as Tenmo was quick to change into a wolf and join Ren for a moment at the tent entrance. He was glad she had patched him up knowing that no matter what they were trespassers here. Getting up he followed Tenmo out reaching down to gently scratch behind Ren's ears before his gaze moved over the village. "This is a good size village." Kaine commented looking to Tenmo. Ren was now darting off into the village to find Ash since Tenmo and Kai.e had left the tent and no longer needed to be guarded. Feeling sure that word of how they had saved him had already spread through the village.

Ash was talking to some of the others before he saw Ren coming up. He saw the two had left their tent so he figured it was as good of a time to end it as any. “Good job” He said, going into his more panther type form, circling around him playfully. Tenmo looked to Kaine from his spot as he watched those two interact from afar. “It is a decent sized village. I am glad their way of life was able to be preserved for so long and keep their were side hidden just as well” He said softly

The brightest smile appeared on Ren's face when Ash told him he had done a good job. Playfully he lowered himself to the ground watching Ash carefully as the older man circled him butt wiggling as he waited for the perfect moment to pounce. When he saw it he went straight for Ash's feet doing his best not to actually use claws playfully nawing on the other's ankle.

 

Amusement was written on Kaine's face after watching the two being so playful. "It really is amazing. They've managed to stay hidden from the modern world even the supernatural world. There may be a lot we can learn from them... If they'd allow us the opportunity." Kaine replied.
