An Ancient Feud (Private, 18+)

Nodding Ren followed the directions Tenmo gave him putting two scoops into the small bowl and feeling the tiny body rubbing against his leg hearing the tiny meowing. When he finished he carefully carried it over to where Tenmo had set up the kittens water and put the food down. Having to be extremely careful not to trip over or step on the kitten. She had her face in the food eating it the moment he had put it down. Ren sitting there by the bowl watching her eat but not petting her. Kaine having said not to while she was eating.

“You made such a mess little one” Tenmo chuckled, looking at the kittens face when he finished and lifted his head up. His mouth was covered in little bits of wet food, laughing to himself as the little one began cleaning itself. “I will admit..cats are adorable when they want to me” Tenmo said with the tiniest smile. The kitten seemed satisfied, pawing and playing with little Ren

"Cats are adorable most of the time." Kaine replied with a laugh watching the kitten clean herself up before playing with Ren again. Energy renewed from eating and the nap she had gotten earlier. Ren as happy to play with the kitten changing again and jumping around with her. Being careful to make sure he wasn't rough, even batting around her toy ball with her. It was adorable to watch a smile.on Kaine's face at the sight of the pair. "It'll be rough on him when she leaves." He said softly to Tenmo.

“I know...” Tenmo said, realizing he will be upset. “We will have to assure him that we are sure we can visit Otso to play with the kitten and help take care of it when he is away. I am sure Otso won’t mind the company” He smiled as he watched the trio playing with the kitten, Ash looking over them like a protective parent might but he was smiling at the sight. “I think we should skip the hunt tonight if they want to focus on the kitten” He chuckled, wondering if Ren and Ash still wanted to go

"I don't think the hunt should be skipped. The boys need it and so do you. I am sure she'll be fine for a little while or I can stay behind and watch her." He told his husban Kaine didn't think skipping the hunt was a good idea knowing how important it really was. Not to mention it was Ash and Ren's first hunt here. It was important. Kitten or not he wasn't going to let him pass this up. "Besides, if we were to get a kitten after she leaves we can't have them skipping hunts because of it." Kaine added. "You're right though. I am sure Otso wouldn't mind the company and help with her. It won't be like the boys will never see her again."

“You are right darling, but I do want you to come with for the first one. Just as a backup, and it is the first hunt. Having both parents there is a sort of milestone and plus it is a whole new world for them. Alongside Rens tendency to wander until he gets bigger and can handle himself” He nodded, calling out to the boys. “All right boys, let’s get some comfortable clothes on, we will go now while it is still bright and not too dark” He grinned, not wanting it to be too dark for their first time

"I know you do. We'll make sure she's settled in before we leave. I'm positive she'll do fine for a an hour or two on her own. Cats, even kittens are pretty low maintenance." Kaine replied not worried. Watching as Ren hesitantly left the kitten to change though he kept stopping to look back and check on her. Kaine occupied the tiny animal with one of her toys.

“Ren the cat will be fine, go on get dressed” Tenmo said after he saw him peeking in for The Who knows how many time. “Ah, all good to go! Now then, let’s start off with some squirrels. They might be good for you two with climbing trees and all” He said with a smile, getting a happy jolt through his body. His first hunt with his kids..Did his father feel like this for their first time out? He thought to himself as he quickly went to the front door.

Ren nodded though peaked in one more time to be sure before he was in his room changing clothes. After they were all gathered Kaine followed them out locking the door behind them before turning to follow after the three. He'd keep a trained eye on Ren to make sure their youngest didn't go wandering off. For the most part Kaine trailed after the trio keeping the group together. Ren was excitedly running ahead just to wait for them to catch up and dart ahead again. Far too eager for the hunt.

“Ren slow down!” Ash called putting, instinctively rushing ahead to be at his side before falling back when he was in eye sight. “Boys, low to the ground” Tenmo said , Ash quickly following instructions as they both went into their respective animal forms. Tenmos eyes darted Howard to a squirrel about 20 feet away, at the base of a tree eating a nut. Tenmo gestured to Ren, ready for him to make the first move

Ren whined when Ash told him to slow down turning to look at him seeing Ash running towards him before falling back when he was in sight again. Being told to get low to the ground Ren instantly laid down and waited for them before be new as motioned towards a squirrel. Green eyes stared at the small rodent before moving to Tenmo and huffing slightly disappointed . He slowly inched forward stopping when he though the squirrel may have noticed him. Running at it when he was close enough Ren wasn't discouraged when it darted up the tree instantly following it up. He didn't end up getting the squirrel which had jumped from the branch of their tree to the next one but when he returned to the ground he had a bird in his mouth. Having taken the sparrow by surprise when they had found themselves sharing a branch.

Tenmo watched as Ren returned from his hunting not with a squirrel but a sparrow. “Look at you, that’s my little man” Tenmos tail wagged happily, nudging him with his head. He always had a problem with the birds as a child and Ren got it with ease, even if being a were cat type did help. “Wonderful” He beamed with pride as Ash was in the middle of stalking a rabbit a few feet away

Ren puffed up happily when he was praised and nudged. Definitely liking the attention and knowing that even though he didn't get the squirrel he had been hunting that returning with the bird he had gotten thanks to a surprise opportunity had been a good call. He quietly snuck up to Kaine to show him the bird wanting more praise but not to interrupt or ruin Ash's chance for his rabbit. Kaine was more than happy to praise Ren patting the boy's head and telling him he had done well.

The rabbit ducked just out of his grasp at the pounce and was making mad dashed through the brush as Ash was navigating the unfamiliar terrain. While he was not Ren, he was older with more experience hunting so after a few quiet moments, he came with a rabbit in his jaws. “There we go Ash! I know the terrain is different for you boys but proud for your first hunt at home” Tenmo beamed with pride, Ash nuzzling Ren happily at his first kill

Ren was happily sitting beside Kaine bird still in his mouth while Ash was hunting. Head tilting to the side slightly as he saw him returning with a rabbit. Ash approaching him was start had him put his bird down, sniffing at the rabbit Ash had caught. It smelled different than the animals back on the island, but he didn't mind. It still smelled good, he happily nuzzled Ash back. "You two did great." Kaine days with a bright smile before looking to his husband. "Your turn." He told the wolf with a smile.

Tenmo was happy it was his turn to hunt, trusting Kaine with the kids while he did his hunt. Ash munched on the rabbit, finding the taste different but it wasn’t terrible. Tenmo went s bit further out, taking his time and managing to hunt down a deer. He dragged it back, dropping it down in front of the boys. “It’s deer..the main big staple of hunting out here. Common and a good size for any wolf to handle from the pack, some go bigger but this is the main food staple” He explained, eating some of his hunt

Ren was plucking his bird to get to the meat he wanted without the mouthful of feathers. After plucking right he was happy to munch on it. Looking up when Tenmo returned with a big animal that he told then was a deer. Leaving what remained of the sparrow which was really just bone and more feathers he sniffed at the larger carcass. Finding himself a spot though keeping an eye on the wolf he started gnawing on a hind leg. Finding that he liked the taste of deer. Using a paw to keep the leg still as he munched on it.

Tenmo looked up at Kaine in happy delight and a happy tail wag while he was eating the deer with Ash and Ren. Best..first hunt..ever’ he thought to himself before he returned to eating. Tenmo gave him some tips on how to rip the deer meat apart to get the most out of eAch bite. Ash took the side not occupied by them as all three quickly devoured the deer between them, Ash stopping to make sure Ren got enough

It made Kaine's smile grow to see Tenmo and their sons sharing the deer. Especially seeing her husband's face light up in delight being able to share the kill with them. He watched over the three while they ate. Ren did his best to do as Tenmo said to get the most out of reach bite but at some point he was happy just to take a large bone and sit a little ways away chewing on it. Especially since the deer was basically devoured now. Green eyes watching Ash and Tenmo as he chewed on it.

Ash ate anything remaining, Tenmo satisfied with what he had already eaten. “A filling breakfast and a good hunt. Let’s be heading back boys, we had a successful first hunt today. We will work and do this quite a few more times and then we can test hunting alone. Ren, you would be accompanied by someone a bit longer until you are of age and bigger just as a safety precaution” He nodded, no wolf going out on their own until they were a certain size

There was a pout that appeared on Ren's face hang he was still too small and not old enough to be able to do hunts alone. "But I can do it!" Ren complained as they made their way back home. He may still be thing and cub sized but he felt like he could still pull of successful lobe hunts. It was possible it'd still be another couple years before he reached full size normally in their early teens during puberty. Ren didn't want to wait that long feeling like he was capable now. Ren want fully aware what the difference wad between wolves and panthers hunting but he knew claws included he had more weaponry feeling that'd make up for his size as long as he was smart about hunts. Even if he wasn't entirely aware of what prey could be found here.

“I am sure you can darling but this area is still unfamiliar to you. They have bears and wild animals in sizes you can’t imagine off in the mountains. Last thing I want is for you to get hurt. So please..at least when you’re a little bigger okay..?” Tenmo nuzzled him softly, wanting him to be able to hunt alone but still worried for him. “We will go on a few more hunts and see how you do then okay?” He spoke softly before continuing back towards home

Ren huffed when he was told that he needed too at least be a little bigger. While he could understand the coven since it was coven he dealt with even on the island he didn't want to keep being treated like a child. At least not in regards to hunting even if he knew he was still young. He was feeling bigger and stronger every day and wanted to show he could do what the others could just as well as they could regardless of his size. Maybe not as big as prey as the others but still capable of solo hunts. He'd listen though and wait to see if after a few more hunts if Tenmo thought he was ready and capable to hunt alone. "Okay." Ren murmured not arguing about it. Kaine on the other hand was concerned about the pair. While Tenmo and the pack hunted these lands for thousands of years wolves were one of the native species to the area. Panthers and jaguars on the other hand weren't native and if by some chance a human caught a glimpse of them on a hunt it could cause some problems. Kaine figured he was probably worrying for no reason and tried to push those worries aside. If his husband didn't mention it then it was probably not something to be concerned with.

“You’d have to do it deep in the woods if you ever went to hunt. Humans have only seen wolves here, there will be a panic if they start seeing wolf cats this close to town. So you must understand my worry dear..A few more hunts in the palce where you would be hunting and I’m sure you will be ready to go alone” Tenmo tried to reassure him with a smile. No wonder his father was a mess in his first hunt..it was a big step. He was finally happy to be home, turning into his human form and the kitten farting over to Ren with a loud purr

"But aren't there wild cats that live here too?" Ren asked as they were nearing the house. As they walked in he was ecstatic to be met by the kitten who seemed just as happy that he was back as he was to be back with it. Ren happily nuzzled the small animal before he was heading into the living room with her to cuddle up and relax for awhile. Curling up he was happy when the kitten curled up with him, giving it a small nudge before letting his eyes drift shut happily purring himself.
