Name: Shai Masterson

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Height: 5 ft. 7 in.

Eye Color: Ochre

Hair Color: White, naturally Black

Occupation: Student studying to be a veternarian

Sexual Orientation: Homosexualhttps://www.yaoiotaku.com/forums/forum.php

Biography: Both of his parents are well enough off,his mother being a flight attendant and his father doing something with some tech company. Their jobs always required they traveled so they were never home, that was the things have always been as long as he could remember, or at least however old he was when he could start taking care of himself. He was quick to mature past his peers, knowing he had no time to have fun or goof around like everyone else did. As a result, he usually is shy around other and does not know how to act 'normally' in social situations. He also started getting as many part time jobs as he could and keeping up his grades so he would not feel like a disappointment and prove that he was fine on his own.

Shai had always considered himself as living alone, his parents are always away on constant business trips. He has always had to earn money for himself, buy food for himself and take care of himself. He worked whenever he had a free moment to, supporting himself through high school and managing to land a scholarship to university with good grades. He had no choice but to get and maintain this scholarship..It helped pay for his studies. Any jobs he worked could not afford to maintain both a home, food and his education.

At least now class was over and he had what felt like a very rare day off of work. He did not have to work at the veterinary hospital today and his part time job at the library did not schedule him that day due to it being closed for maintenance. He wished they were open though for he could have used the money toward his bills and groceries. Shai sighed in frustration as he packed up all his books from his last class, ready to go home. He had to go home and re budget everything for the week to make up for the lost pay from the library. His parents would not be sending him any money for at least another week.

Shai left the schools main entrance, walking down the road a few blocks. He was trying to think to himself of what he was going to do for dinner tonight based on what he had in the fridge. Maybe some ramen noodles with egg or-Shai was broken out of his train of thought when he heard a loud screeching of tires and a loud thud. He looked over to his ride to see dark skid marks leading to a vehicle stopping in the middle of a road with a young woman laying bleeding in the crosswalk. He rushed over to the woman and dropped his bag without hesitation beside him. He had to help...He couldn't just stand there and gawk, she could die! "Someone call 911~!" He cried out, taking a deep breath to begin CPR on the bleeding woman. A passerby started to make the call as he continued to perform CPR on the woman. He had to try...He had to at least try to save her! She had so much more life to live!

Human Form

Name: Thanatos

Human Name: Shi

Age: Unknown

Height (In human form): 6?0?

Eye Color: One red and one pale gold

Hair Color: Black

Occupation: Reaper

Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

Background: Thanatos is the personification of death. He is the son of Nyx, the goddess of night, and the brother of Hypnos, the god of sleep. Thanatos was born to carry humans off to the underworld when the time allotted to them by the Fates had expired. Once the Fates cut the string of life connected to the human, Thanatos would assume the guise of a human to gently guide them to the underworld. He is to take all souls, good or bad, young or old. He has no choice in who is to be taken nor does he decide how many souls he takes within any given day. Once the time is up, he collects them, no matter his personal feelings towards the humans. Because of this, he tries to keep his feelings out of the human world. He aspires to get in and get out before he has enough time to make any lasting connections with any human.

Finally, a small break! Shi collapsed onto the ledge of the building he was on, his feet hanging over the edge and dangling there. His eyes shifted to the heavens, wondering what his brother was up to these days up in the clouds. He also wondered just how long the Fates were planning to let him relax before they claimed another life. Frankly, breaks never lasted long seeing as there were billions of people on the Earth and hundreds died every second of every day. Of course, Shi was a god, so it wasn?t a big deal for him, but it was nice to steal a moment here and there for himself. He had companions, minions that he used to help him with his duties. He took care of the dead close to him and dispatched his minions throughout the world to take care of everyone he couldn?t get to.

Just as he was thinking he felt a soft pain in the back of his neck. His eyes squinted and he sighed, ?Time to get back to it?Can?t even catch five minutes huh?? he rolled his eyes and stood. He stretched out his legs and then looked out over the city. It was a pleasant day to die, no rain and it wasn?t extremely cold or hot. His eyes instantly homed in on the woman, bleeding in the middle of the street as a young man rushed to her aid. Shi knew all too well that he would not be able to save her. The god quickly stepped off the ledge, plummeting down to the sidewalk far below him. He landed gracefully, quickly blending into the crowds as he made his way to the woman.

He was there within minutes. When he came up on the scene there was a small crowd forming around a young, silver haired man performing CPR on the dying woman. He felt his heart pull lightly, pitying the young man who would be haunted with his inability to save this poor woman. None the less he had to take her with him.

He made his way through the crowd and dropped down next to the man gently leaning his hand to the woman?s forehead, as the kid pumped her chest trying to restart her heart. He closed his eyes, gently willing her soul to leave her body. To everyone else he is hardly noticeable. Unless he directly spoke to you, you would never know he was there. His eyes quickly flicked up to the man and he sighed gently, ?She is gone. You can stop now?? his voice was husky yet gentle as he eased the other hands from the woman?s body. ?She is in a much better place now.? He stood and looked down at the woman below him. His powers didn?t work by just touching someone, he had to goad them to leave their earthly lives behind, and if they decided they didn?t want to, they would be stuck in purgatory for eternity.

His eyes then shifted about 10 ft from him, to the shade of the woman. He took one last longing look at the human male before he turned, walking to the shade. She started to walk away from the crowd, guiding him to a much more secluded area. Once they were away from so many people she turned to face him with a soft smile. "It's my time isn't it?" She asked, her delicate features leaving the marks of her gruesome death behind.

"Yes. I've come to guide you to the underworld. I do not know your fate...I do not weigh your worth, that is for another god to decide. Now...will you come with me? Or suffer the punishment of forever roaming the lonely planes of your world, a shade to everyone and everything around you?" Shi spoke, his fingers lightly sliding into his pockets.

"I...I'm scared...you have no idea what is to become of me?"

"No. I do not. I only guide the souls of the dead to the underworld, there you will be tried and given freedom or...eternal punishment."

She was silent for a long moment before she nodded. "Okay...take me with you..."

He smiled gently, his right hand pulling a scythe from his pocket. It seeming to take forever to leave his pocket and extend into a full weapon. He then took a stance and spoke, "I, Thanatos, deliver thee to the plains of the dead." He brought the weapon down on her head and as he did a bright light shown from her body and a soft, relieved smile formed on her face. And, just like that, she was gone. Transported safely to the realms of the dead, deep below the earth.

Shi twirled his scythe in his hands before sheathing it back where he found it. He smiled gently at another job well done and turned to leave. His mind, however, lingered on the silver-haired man who seemed so adamant on saving her. Shi had seen many deaths in his lifetime and yet he had never seen a complete stranger seeming to care so much about another stranger. He seemed to legitimately want to save her...trying to perform CPR to restart her heart, well after Thanatos had delivered her to the underworld. Why his mind lingered here he had no idea, but he hoped that the boy hadn't taken much notice to him. It wouldn't bode well for him in the end.

Shai kept trying CPR and did not plan on stopping until someone else was physically going to stop him. If this poor woman had any chance of living, he had to keep trying..he just had to! Any amount of CPR could mean the difference between life and death..He had to keep trying! This woman probably had friends, family, people who were there for her everyday that would miss her deeply so if not for her, he had to do it for them!

"She is gone. You can stop now..." "She is in a much better place now.."

Shai had his hands pulled gently away from the others body by a stranger. "I have to keep trying...I have to, I can't just give up now!" He said as he went immediately back to performing CPR, even if he had been doing so for a long time. He saw a flicker of black hair walking away from the scene, for a brief moment between rescue breaths and pumping the woman's chest. Was that the man who told him to stop just now?

Shai did not stop until medical professionals had pulled up to the scene, telling him he could stop as they started to whisk her away on a stretcher. They seemed grim at her condition and made some effort to save her but they seemed to know that she was far gone from saving at that point in time. He stayed at the scene until ambulances had left the scene, going in the direction of the hospital. When he had a chance to think, a part of him knew that she was gone probably before he even touched her. But he still had to make that effort...increase her chance of living even by a small margin!

Shai looked down at the small amount of blood on his hand, glad to have made the effort to try and save her. Even if his effort was pointless in the end, he could say to himself that he had done all that he could for the woman. He asked a nearby buisness if he was allowed to us their restroom to clean himself, happily agreeing to him being allowed to clean himself. Shai washed the blood off his hands and got himself a very cheap slice of pizza. They offered to put toppings on it at no cost, Shai trying to deny it as he was not paying for it. They insisted, topping it with pepperoni and even giving him a cold drink.

Shai made his way home, his school bag around his shoulder and his pizza with drink in his hand. Shai happily ate it on the way to his home, the slice of pizza barely making it down the next few blocks. He chugged the soda and discarded his trash in the next available trashcan he came across. At least tonight he did not have to worry about dinner..Shai thought to himself, grateful for the cheap slice of pizza and the extras that came along with it. Now he would not have to worry about dinner tonight and he could go home somewhat satisfied.

"I am home.." Shai called out, not expecting an answer to follow the statement. There was never an answer..Shai thought as he closed the door behind him, locking the door. When he expected to leave the house today, he was not expecting to have witnessed a car crash and trying to save a womans life today. It only made him more curious about that black haired man that seemed to be walking away from everything. Who...was that? It was weird to walk away from the sight of something like that. He was not the other person so who knows what reason he could have possibly have had?

Shi looked around the small alley way and quickly left after the shade of the woman had departed. He looked both ways in the street before stepping out into the sidewalk. Ambulances were surrounding the area. Shi?s eyes instantly found the man who had been trying to save the woman. He looked distraught, even though he hadn?t known her he had tried so hard to save her life. Humans were strange, they were able to feel far too much and Shi thought it might be more harm than good. They often let their feelings get the best of them, gods like him, weren?t.

Shi turned his attention to his next mission. His eyes tilted up to the sky and realized a storm was brewing. The first raindrops touched his cheek and he sighed. His brother was upset again, probably due to his wifes overbearing and controlling love. He chuckled lightly at his own joke and snapped his fingers.

He was transported back to his own castle in the underworld. Waiting for him was his right hand man Nino, a demon of lust and greed. He smiled gently to the younger male, ?Ah I see you had a productive day. You usually are never here waiting for me unless you have some juicy details.?

Nino was a beautiful being. His hair was blue and hung a little bit infront of his yellow eyes. He had an incredibly sexy body, slender and lean. ?Oh my gosh. So I harvested 300 souls today and the other teams are still out and going strong. I dispatched the last two crews not too long ago to let the first round have a break.? He smiled brightly to his king.

Shi closed the distance between them and smiled brightly, ?I knew you could get the job done. Now, why don?t we fill our free time with some fun?? He asked pushing the hair from Nino?s eyes.

The younger demon blushed lightly and his eyes dropped down. ?Thanatos?you know I can?t say no to my King.? He tilted his head up and gently kissed Shi.

The two had had a sexual relationship with one another for centuries. There wasn?t anything romantic about it. They were demons and they thrived on the lust and passion that surrounded sex. As the two of them locked lips, Nino pushed Shi down onto the bed, climbing ontop of him and straddling him. Shi was already undressing the other demon who had hardly any clothes on to begin with.

Their sex was wild and rough, full of the lust that they needed. When they finished Shi sat up in bed flicking his fingers as black flames emerged from it. Nino laid in bed beside him, naked with the sheets loosely draped around him. ?What are you thinking about?? He asked as Shi tilted his head to the other.

?When I was harvesting a young woman today?I came across a rather strange man. I just don?t understand why humans care so much. He didn?t even know the woman and yet he tried incredibly hard to save her?? he sighed and shook his head. ?I don?t get it.?

Nino rolled his eyes, ?You think too much. You shouldn?t be focused on things like that In the first place.? He sat up and started to get dressed. ?Its about time to head out again?are you going out again today?? Technically it was already the next day on Earth which meant that Shi had to go harvest again.

He sighed and got up, dressing once more. ?Yes. I have to harvest just like the rest of you.? He pulled his shirt over his head. ?I?ll head out with you.?

(The next human day)

Shi pushed the hair from his face as he peered down at the streets below him. He was in the same town as the day before and he was worried that the man would be in the area once again. He didn?t know who his next victim was but he could feel the soft pain in his next beginning to grow. He made his way down to the street, roaming toward where the pain started to grow more. Someone was going to die today?and he had to take them with him.

Shai had gone to sleep the previous day, trying to get the thoughts of his eventful day yesterday stricken from his mind. That woman..She had so much more life to live. She could have been walking around today, enjoying life and living her life even now. But in an instant, what should have been a long and happy life was cut far too short..He always hated those kinds of deaths. Ones that took people before their time was up..Everyone deserves to be able to live a full life and die of old age.

Today was a day off school and was happy he could work the extra hours to make up for what he missed yesterday. It was a shift at the veterinarians office, happy he was able to snag a paid internship with the hospital. He was one of the best in his class and wrote a well thought out application for the position, he can still remember the day he got it and how happy he was. He loved animals with a passion~! All animals big or small, he wanted to make sure each one also had the same chance at a happy life as humans do. Animals relied on people to help him..and he would be that person to help him!

Shai locked up the house for the day, heading towards town for what he knew was going to be a very long shift at work. Sure, it would be a long one but the rewards would be well worth it. While the money was good for what he could get from it, knowing he could help an animal live a healthy life filled him with a sense of joy. He felt a sense of pride in knowing he was a part of their life, even in the most minuscule way. Even in times of hardship, he was always there for the owners with a loving hand and a warm hug.

Shai suddenly heard a small meow coming from a nearby box in an alley, coming to a grinding halt. He went right to the box and slowly opened the flap to find a tiny kitten that can't be anymore than a few weeks old. Shai's heart went out to the poor little thing, able to tell that it had been abandoned from its condition. "You don't look so good little guy.." He said as his heart hurt at the poor things condition. "Come on, let's get you taken care of okay?" He smiled down at the tiny creature as he scooped it up in his arms.

The kitten purred in its arms as Shai went to turn and leave from the dirty box. Shai looked up and saw what appeared to be the same guy from yesterday walking the streets. He don't know why he seemed to stand our amongst the crowd, no one else really seeming to pay him any mind. Odd...Shai thought to himself as he held tightly onto the squirming kitten.

Shi ran a hand through his hair stopping in the middle of the sidewalk as he felt eyes on him. His red eyes shifted to the ones that were staring at him and he was shocked to see they were from the same kid he had seen the other day. He quickly lost eye contact, ducked his head and tried to blend in with the crowd. Sadly, he could still feel those eyes on him, and the feeling in his neck growing.

He ran a hand over the back of his neck, stumbling slightly as the pain became a little too much for him. “Tch…where are you? Why haven’t I been able to see you…” He looked around him trying to find the mark of who he was to take to the graves next. He couldn’t see anyone though and he imagined that he looked pretty rough to the man who kept following him with his eyes.

He darted into the nearest alleyway, pulling the hood over his head and trying to breathe through the pain he was feeling. He just needed the fates to give him the sign but for some reason they weren’t sending him one. He didn’t understand as to why though, it had never been something like this before. Once he felt the pain in his neck normally he was already close to the person dying and he only needed to hone his focus in order to see them. It didn’t seem to be working this time. He shook his head feeling sweat start to pull at the base of his neck.

Maybe there was something blocking him from seeing the victim? He doubted it though. It took large amounts of magic to hide from death himself, no one can run when their time is up. Not unless…Shi let them. There had been a few times in his life he had let someone live. It wasn’t often but when he first stated working this job he let a small girl who had just overcome cancer live for an extra 30 years. He also let a small puppy live to be an old gray dog. He just couldn’t bring himself to kill the two of them. He didn’t have very many weaknesses but children were one of them. He didn’t like to take such a young life into the underworld with him. The good part was they were innocent creatures and lived in the Plains rather than the torture hovels in hell. This made it a little easier as he progressed through his job to take them with him. Now, he didn’t spare anyone. He kept his feelings to himself because as a god he should have no feelings for the humans. Yet, every so often, he caught himself feeling pity for the sad creatures as they went through their mundane lives.

Shi hunched over, placing his palms on his knees as he tried to concentrate on the clock ticking in the back of his mind. Where were you? How was this human hiding from him?

Red eyes...The man from yesterday..He had red eyes. He knew he was not imagining those red eyes and felt almost compelled to follow them. The man seemed to notice that they caught each others gaze and seemed to flee into the crowd. Why did he want to run away from him? It only made him more curious as he went after the other, the kitten held tight to his body as he began chase.

Shai was not sure who this man was or why he seemed interesting..But he had to learn more! He seemed to disappear and reappear the few times he saw him and it struck him as..odd. While he could not explain for sure he was feeling the way he was feeling, he did want to get close to the other and introduce himself. Maybe he was shy? Maybe he was mad that he kept pushing to save her despite him saying she was gone? But he would think about all that later..He had a guy to chase down!

Shai ducked and weaved through the crowd, trying to catch up with the stranger. It was hard to keep up with him..even losing him at one point. He stopped outside an alleyway, trying to catch his breath as he had a moment to collect himself. When he looked down to check on the kitten in his arms, it seemed to hiss into the alleyway. When he looked over, he saw what looked like the stranger, something seeming off about him. "Hello....My name is Shai. I didn't mean to scare you...or if I offended in anyway? Are you all right..?" Shai asked, unable to reach out and comfort him with the kitten in his arms. He felt his phone vibrate and managed to hold the kitten tight as he reached for his phone. "Sorry I can't stay longer, the office says there is a stray stranded on a rock in the river so I need to go! Take care of yourself~!" Shai smiled before he quickly ran off.

He was quick to drop off the kitten he found at the vets, none too surprised he brought in another stray animal. They poked fun at him quickly for bringing in a random kitten off the street before he ran off to head toward the river. "Please...let there be enough time..." Shai said as he took off into a sprint toward the river closer to the edges of the town. Come on little one...hang in there...Shai kept thinking as he avoided any people he had to before the crowds calmed and soon no people at all as the river was ahead of it. The water looked deep and it was raging in comparison to a calm and peaceful brook. One wrong move...and it could send you tumbling into its currents and depths. Shai quickly scanned the water before seeing a small wet furry mass clinging to a rock in the middle of the river.

"Hang on little one...You are going to be okay" Shai quickly took off his shoes and made his way into the cold river. "It's going to be okay little guy...sh sh its okay" He tried to comfort the clearly frightened kitten as he stepped closer and closer, taking careful steps toward it. "Let's get you out of here, this is no place for you" He smiled down at it, trying to ignore the cold water rushing against his skin and the current. Shai began to make his way back toward the shore line, holding it close. He extended a hand that held the kitten tightly toward the shore line. 'Go on...one big step and-" As Shai was reaching out to bring him closer, he had lost his balance. While the kitten was on shore and remained fine, Shai tumbled into the darker waters of the river. He began to feel disoriented as he tried to find his way back up from the river. The shock of the fall had him gulp a large amount of water, trying to get it out only caused him to take on more water. H-He couldn't breathe! This only made him began to panic more as he was quickly running out of air..

Shi grunted softly as he heard the soft footfalls of someone following him. He wanted to run, wanted to hide, but he couldn’t. His eyes flicked up to meet the man who had been following him, Shai. He smiled lightly as he realized the young man was carrying a small kitten in his arms. It was a cute site, he seemed to be clutching onto him as if he was the only thing keeping the poor kitten safe. He didn’t get to say anything before Shai ran away from him. Before he did though he felt a searing pain in the back of his neck. Realization hit him quickly and his focus locked on Shai as he ran away.

“Seriously?” He rolled his eyes and stood up straighter. He had to kill the kid who seemed to be so caring and kind. Shai…he even seemed super sweet. He pushed away from the wall and stuck his hands in his pockets as he followed Shai. He dropped the kitten off at the vet and then started off at a run. Shi was in no rush, so instead he just followed at a walk behind Shai. He already knew where they would end up. How Shai would die, when, and that no one would be there when he died. It was a sad ending…it really was, especially for someone who seemed to be so caring.

Shi made it to the river in just enough time to see Shai’s head go under the water. He paused just a moment to decide what he was going to do and when he did he kicked himself. He would get in some trouble for this but he didn’t care. For some reason he wanted to save the kid that was now drowning in the river. The kitten he had jumped in to save already was waiting on the shore.

He pulled the hoodie off of his body and jumped into the water. He swam to where Shai had gone under and ducked under the water. He could see pretty easily and grabbed ahold of Shai’s unconscious hand. He pulled with all his might, holding onto the mans body as he kicked back up to the surface. He coughed up water as they broke the surface, and swam to the edge of the river. Shai was unconscious and if he was doing his job right, Shi would end his life here. Instead he pulled him away from the water some and put his ear on his chest, listening. He was inches from his last beat and Shi sighed. He had to save him.

He leaned down, gently pushing the wet hair from Shai’s face. He closed the distance between them and connected their lips together. Shi blew a soft kiss of death into his mouth, giving him the life that Shi would have taken from him. He pushed lightly on his chest, pushing up the water that the man had swallowed.

Shai struggled underneath the water as everything felt like everything was getting colder. He struggled less and less as his vision seemed to grow darker around him. His heart was pumping as he worried that this was going to be the end...Was this how he was going to die?! He was terrified as the world around him grew dark, slipping slowly into unconsciousness.

Shai felt like this warm feeling was going through his body before he felt this sudden jolt of pain in his lungs. Water sputtered out of his mouth as his lungs felt like they were on fire. Shai quickly got on his hands and knees coughing up more of the water that filled his chest. He took a few deep breaths as he got the much needed air into his lungs.

Wait...Wasn't he just in the river a moment ago? He...he almost died! When Shai was able to somewhat compose himself, he saw that red eyed man from earlier. Did he...save him from the river? He must have judging from his soaked appearance. If he wasn't there, he might have...he could have died in that river. He must have given him CPR and helped save him..

"T...Thank you" Shai said as the weight of the situation truly started to sink in. "I am not sure what brought you here...But I could have...died. You gave me CPR..And saved me. Thank you...thank you very much!" Shai said with a small tear in his eye, leaning forward and giving him a tight hug. He held him there for he was not sure how long before he finally let the other go. "Can you tell me your name? I want to know the man who I have to thank for saving my life.." Shai said with a warm smile. He wanted to truly thank the man who saved him from the bottom of his heart. "Is the kitten okay..?!" He said soon after, sighing in relief when the kitten was nearby and safe. Good..he managed to save the little kitten...

Shi knew that Shai was going to cough up the water. When he did Shi pulled away from the other man, sitting not too far away from him as he got on his knees, spitting up water. When he seemed to understand what had happened he turned his attention to Shi. The god felt slightly uncomfortable. Why hadn’t he ran? Why hadn’t he just left? He didn’t know what compelled him to stick around but whatever it was, he wanted to find out.

“You’re welcome…” he spoke softly, unsure of the proper way to answer him. It wasn’t like he had done anything. It was actually the lack of what he did. He didn’t do his job…Nino would be pissed once again and the world would be out of wack. Then again…as the man wrapped his arms around him in a tight hug Shi didn’t seem to care. It took him a moment to hug him back but he lightly rubbed the others back before letting go. “My name is Shi. Yours was Shai right?” He asked leaning back on one of his hands as the sun started to dry him off. He couldn’t use any of his powers here. Couldn’t whisk the dampness from his body with this human staring at him.

Shi chuckled softly and sighed, “The kitten is fine…you are so strange. You almost died but you care more about that small creature than your own life.” He stood and walked to the kitten picking it up. The small kitten licked his chin and he smiled, “She’s very frail…death clings to her…you may want to get her to your work before she…” He paused and looked back to Shai. “Anyway, you should take care of her. If you like we could meet up some time or never see each other again.” He shrugged and walked the cat back to Shai. He was hesitant to give her up but a god couldn’t keep a kitten. He held out the small bundle of black and white fur.

Shi didn’t know what he was saying anymore. Had he just invited to meet this man for lunch sometime? Had he suggested that? Why? What was he doing? He didn’t understand his actions anymore and it was becoming a problem. Their interactions thus far had been brief moments of eye contact. This was the only moment they were actually speaking with one another. He didn’t know why he wanted to see this man grow up but he did. He didn’t want to snuff his life out just yet…not when he had so much to bring to this world.

"I am sorry for the sudden hug..I am just so happy and I didn't know how to thank you" Shai said with a warm smile. "And you remembered my name..! It was rushed but I had to take care of that other kitten" He laughed as he scratched the back of his head. "Shi...That is a nice name, a unique one~! Not that unique is a bad thing, I just like unique names that you don't see every day!" Shai smiled warmly as he searched for the kitten.

Shai looked over the kitten in his arms with a small smile. "I know I know...It is a weird thing to be so concerned for yourself over a small animal. But animals are defenseless usually to help themselves, humans are able to more help themselves and others. Most animals depend on us to live happy lives and ensure their good health in one way or another. I want to make sure that I can be one person to make sure everyone, even the smallest animal, has the best chance at life" Shai smiled as he watched Shi pick up the kitten.

"Oh of course~!" Shai stood up and carefully took the kitten from Shi's hands. "I will take her in right away! I am glad I got here in time..despite what could have been a bad situation" He smiled, giggling at the sight of the kitten licking his chin but a moment ago. "Meet up? I would love to meet up sometime" Shai smiled happily, it was the least he could do to help his savior who gave him CPR. "Do you know where the vets office is in town? Its on the corner of the main street right by the small bakery with the giant doughnut sign on top" Shai smiled as he held the kitten close to keep him as warm as he could, even if he was dripping wet.

"You can meet me there tomorrow or later today even? We can find a nice place to get lunch and get to know each other better. I do want to know more about the person who saved me from drowning" Shai smiled warmly at him again."My treat! I better get going but it was really nice to meet you and I am happy for whatever brought us together" Shai smiled with a wave, holding the kittens paw so he could "wave" back. Shai quickly ran off with the kitten, not wanting it to die like Shi seemed to hint at. The kitten was cold and soaked, not good for something this small and for who knows how long

Shi shook his head lightly and brushed off the sudden hug he had gotten from Shai. “Thank you..” He said softly as he watched the human look for the kitten. He didn’t know why but he was intriguing to him. “I think it’s nice that you wanted to help him. I know all too well how much death can ruin a young life in its prime. I’m sure this kitten will now have a long life thanks to you.” He smiled gently and sighed at his wet clothes. He gently handed the kitten over to Shai and nodded lightly at the other taking her to the vet.

At the mention of meeting up Shai seemed to agree and he nodded. “I know where the office is. I’m new to town but I saw you run in there the other day…” he blushed lightly. “Not in a creepy way..but I was there when you tried to save that woman.” He shrugged lightly and sighed. “Anyway I could like to meet you later today if you can. I’ll meet you there.” He waved as Shai left. The kitten was knocking on deaths door and he only hoped that Shai could get it help on time. He didn’t really want to have to pick up another soul today.

~ Later that Day ~

He sat patiently waiting outside of the vets office. He had swapped his wet clothes for dry ones. He wore a pair of black jeans and a grey v-neck. His hair was pushed out of his face and was spiking a bit at the top because of it. He hoped that Shai was still up for meeting up. He didn’t care about the food, he didn’t have to eat if he didn’t want to. Honestly, human food was disgusting but he still tried to look normal. Then again, he never had to interact with a human being face to face longer than to kill them so…this would be an experience.

Shai listened as Shi mentioned him knowing where the office was, tilting his head curiously. How did he know where the office was? Shi seemed to explain himself saying he saw him go into the vet's office on the day of that car accident near the building. "No worries, I didn't think you meant it in a creepy way" Shai said with a comforting smile on his face. "I'll see you there~!" Shai laughed as he quickly ran to the vets office. Come on little guy...hang in there....

~~Later that Day~~

Shai was glad he always kept an extra set of clothes at the office in case the 'patients' ever gave him a hard time or made a mess. He was even more thankful the small kitten he rescued from the river is stable and they got him on fluids and a heating pad. Shai sighed in relief as he got dressed in a dry light blue t shirt and skinny blue jeans. Shi will be happy to hear this! He thought to himself with a smile as he quickly combed and fixed his hair in the office bathroom. Shai stepped out of the office and saw Shi waiting for him. "Hey~!" He said with a wave and walked over to him. "Good news, little River is stable and she is going to be just fine!" He said with a wide grin on his face.

Shi fiddled with his phone as he waited for Shai. He didn’t know what humans normally did when they waited for people. Should he people watch? He felt an itch in the back of his neck that he had to shake. His job would have to wait a few moments. He dialed Nino and waited impatiently as the phone rang. The pain in his neck grew stronger and he started to pace as a way to forget it.

When the call connected Nino was laughing, “Thanatos! Why aren’t you back yet? I thought we had a play date today?”

Shi couldn’t help but chuckle softly, “I’m running some errands in the human world today. Would you mind taking care of a few of my jobs today? I just need an hour or two.” His eyes flicked up as he saw Shai leaving the vet.

Nino sucked air through his teeth, “Tch, if you weren’t my boss I would say no…but seeing as I can’t! I’ll get right on them. You better have a good reason for doubling my work load.”

“Thank you!” He hung up quickly in just enough time for Shai to say hello.

“Hey! I’m glad to hear that…When do you think River can look for a forever home?” He asked as he ran a hand through his hair. “I was a little worried that death was going to take her.” Things were strange, Shi felt…light. He was happy that Shai hadn’t been killed today. This human was unlike any human he had ever had an encounter with. He seemed to care so much about everyone around him…and yet he didn’t seem to care about himself. He would put himself in harm’s way just to save another being. It baffled Shi and he wanted to know just how far it went.

Shai was glad he didn’t seem to interrupt whatever phone conversation Shi was having. He would have felt bad if Shi hung up the phone on someone just because he said hello and interrupted. Well it didn’t matter as he smiled over at Shi when he asked about little River.

“We do have to monitor her for a little bit. She was at deaths door and a skinny little girl” Shai chuckled softly with a small smile. “But she should be ready to be put up for adoption in a few days with a clean bill of health and some good meals. They said I was lucky I brought her in when I did. Kind of got a few questions as to why I came in soaked to the bone but they were happy I was okay” Shai said with a big grin.

“I do have to thank you again for giving my CPR” Shai thanked with with another big smile. “Sorry if I’m saying thanks so much, I am just really greatful” His face continued to beam with a happy smile. “Enough talking, lets go!” He laughed as he walked alongside Shi.
