precarious
I think if more people remembered basic social etiquette i.e. "if you don't have something nice to say...", then there would be fewer restrictions on what society deems acceptable especially regarding sexual orientation. That said I prefer yaoi to yuri for the story lines, seme/uke characters, and the hot artwork. Intolerance is usually a sign of ignorance and best viewed through tolerant amusement. vanrou
Seriously, my best friend says this to me, that yaoi's digusting and shit. I just understood that it's a natural reaction for a guy, which my best friend is. I really can't expect men to accept yaoi in open arms but that douchebag is a sucker for yuri. He says it's hot and dirty amd yaoi is just disgusting.
gin
I read both Genre's; though I am more into Yaoi than Yuri. I just don't see as to why people judge each other works. No shit sherlock~ they hafta be stupid or blind. So it's basically boys who like lesbian (yuri) smex scenes and girls who likes gay (Yaoi) things. As much as there's black and white, heaven and hell, left and right---that's just completely normal. That's just my opinion though---it's a matter of preference. Mik
I've read both genres, Yaoi and Yuri, and I'm honestly okay with the both of them. I'm just kind of more inclined towards Yaoi, but Yuri is fine too. I'm recently watching Sakura Trick, and I'm waiting for the last episode which will be released tomorrow. Does that mean, I'm a hypocrite to Yaoi world? No, right?
Leki
I don't agree with the term hypocrites, and find the opening argument flawed. That's like saying someone's a hypocrite for liking chocolate but not lollies. They're both sweets and hence you must like both or neither. It simply doesn't make sense and people are entitled to their own opinions. I agree with a previous poster who mentioned several men feel their sexuality is challenged if they don't condemn yaoi, but that's a completely different can of worms. I personally don't mind Yaoi, but don't really like Yuri... why? Because there's no part for me to play in it! Duh! Just to be clear I've got nothing against Yuri, it just doesn't strike my fancy. If we're talking about morality or legal rights of some sort then I completely agree that it'd be hypocritical to support one and not the other. But if it's just a matter of "I like or I don't like" then the accusation is stretching it. A hypocrite is some of the guys I see on my other forums. MxM is gross and horrible, but MxFuta is completely okay, doesn't matter what the futa penis does or where it goes. It's okay cause the guy has female bits to make up for it.... wat? Taiga Kagami
I'm not really a Yuri fan, but I get that people like it for the same reasons we like Yaoi. I'm cool with it.
