鼠ドル
First of all; don't get afraid because of this picture, it isn't as hard as it might seem! The picture above shows 80 kanji from JLPT level 4 (the "easiest" and very common kanji). They include number 1-10, kanjis used to form the word for a day(ex. saturday is made up by the kanji for soil and the kanji for sun), positions and more. Before anything, one should know how to write a kanji. The rules are basically as in hiragana or katakana; you write up -> down and left -> right. Here are some examples; ... chiakaiyuki
I often wondered what the two different pronunciations are. Cos 火 is hi and 水 is mizu... I understand that 金 can be said kin or kane depending on the meaning, but the others?
鼠ドル
It's also dependent on the meaning of the word you're trying to write. How you pronounce a kanji is dependant on what follows it. Let's take 水 as an example; By itself, the kanji 水 is pronounced mizu, but together with another kanji it's pronounced "sui" as in "suiyoubi" 水よ日 (wednesday). I think we should go through a couple of kanji together, let's start with the numbers 一 いち one 二 に two 三 さん three 四 よん four 五 ご five 六 ろく six 七 しち、なな seven 八 はち eight 九 きゅう、 く nine 十 じゅう ten

Bloodysadist
Nezu, sorry but I just didn't see if you explain about the "kun" (Japanese reading) and "on" (Chinese reading). Chia, about what you've asked: let's take for example child "ko". The word has two readings "kun yomi" (which mean Japanese reading) "ko" and "on yomi" (which is the Chinese reading) "shi". Usually we use "kun" reading, but when you have more than one kanji for example: a girl student you won't say "djokogakusei" but "djoshigakusei". Here written on Japanese it will looks like : 女子学生 (じょしがくせい).
鼠ドル
The colors are trickier than let's say the week days, but sure, let's go through a few colors. 青い あお、(あおい、あおー) blue, green 白 しろ、(しろい、しらー) white 黒 くろ、(くろい、くろずむ) black 赤 あか (あかい、あかー、あからむ) red 黄 黄、こー yellow

鼠ドル
-masu is present posative -masen is present negative -mashita is past posative -masendeshita is past negative 飲み - drink (what would be the te form?) 飲みます 飲みません 飲みました 飲みませんでした did I get that right? The te-form would be 飲んで、"nonde" Yes, that is right. In plain form it's 飲む - 飲まない in the present and 飲んだ - 飲まなかった in past. がんばって下さい!
chiakaiyuki
下さい? 下 (shita) means down/below right? I didn't put the plain form cos you don't really use that? It's impolite...?
鼠ドル
No, you use plain form quite a lot actually, you aren't polite with your friends are you? Also the te-form is used frequently. (correct me if I'm wrong on this one). "kudasai"
