toby2663
Why on earth should I or would I feel guilty about doing something that I enjoy that harms no one.The people that are offended by my behavior really should try and get out a little more and have a life.

Amarillo
At the beginning I felt guilty. Or more a bit ashamed xD But now my answer is: Â
Guest ReincarnatedRainbow
Well, initially, I felt very...Shameless. Â Yeah, I never gave a shit. When I was first subjected to BL, it felt really natural. I think that I lost my yaoi-virginity in a way that most women want to lose their vaginal virginity. You see, I was introduced to shounen ai first, not yaoi, and it was recommended to me by a friend whom I trusted. It wasn't impulsive or sloppy; I had planned previously, and had been mulling it over in my brain for a whole ten minutes. I was growing tired of shoujo, I was already shipping two men from KHR, and I was well aware of the consequences. So, I chatted my fujoshi friend up on Facebook and she eased me into the genre. We discussed our different options (SH, JR, Gravitation), and she advised me to go slow, to watch a tender and soft shounen ai, so that it didn't hurt my first time. Â I guess it helped that I was never much of a Christian to begin with, too. I've had zero parental guidance throughout my life. Can't be ashamed if there's nothing shaming you. Â As for now...Well, everybody (save for a few scattered nobodies) knows that I like yaoi. Hell, my mom bought me a shounen ai manga once, thinking it was hardcore porn. It wasn't, but the sheer fact that she was under that impression and still willing to buy it for me was touching as hell.

They do seem to be in the minority. - - - Updated - - -  I do wonder if boys who like yaoi tend to feel more or less guilty than girls who do. Boys do seem to be in the minority. I suppose it all depends on their confidence level. A guy who is self assured, outgoing, and comfortable with his sexuality (be it hetero, homo, or bi), will obviously be fine with their interest in yaoi. A few might even be proud, simply because it makes them stand out even more. Attention is attention, and unique is unique.  However, the average guy feels as if he has something to prove (especially if he is young). Many men nowadays seem to equate being gay with being weak. Like, having a taste for boy bits automatically means you have none. He'll hide his interest in yaoi, in fear that people will confuse him for being homosexual, and therefore, not being man enough.   Women are most definitely more comfortable with their sexuality. Women rarely feel the need to hide an interest in yaoi (unless they know their parents will disapprove), nor do they feel the need to hide an interest in yuri. This is probably due to the trend of men being judged for their sexual orientation, while women are perceived the same way as they would normally be, regardless of sexuality.  So, conclusion is: Only men with low self-confidence are ashamed of yaoi, but how many men have low confidence when regarding this matter is debatable. amayakaida
i want to say not any more ... but it's not like that . i know it's all because of our damn religious studies . i used to think that all the people that are not hetero are just some pervert . although i don't think so for many years i can't forget whatever they teach me in just a short time . of course it's getting better now . i don't really feel ashamed and i can even say i love yaoi proudly but to not feel guilty ... i think i need more time ...

nicorobin
I'm actually a practicing Roman Catholic (as in I go to Church every Sunday and pray everyday), however, the only time I feel guilty about reading yaoi is when I have to confess (which I rarely to never do haha) and when my mom comes to visit and I have to hide my collection. I'm quite proud of being a fangirl. All of my friends know this interest of mine.
ValLucky1
I was introduced to yaoi by my sister, but she was never as into it as I am. I've never felt guilty about it, but sometimes it's kinda awkward.
SoraRiku-Chan
My answer is 100% no.. if it my religion well sometimes (i think only 5 % feel guilty) why do I have to feel guilty, when I found that yaoi is the story between two male that more innocent, pure and sweet better than shoujo manga onion0rabbit4 To be honest I feel more guilty when I read hentai manga, watch porn video (this is so real...I feel sooo regret after I watch that kind of stuff) onionn7

otameganekko
Well, even as a "normal" person (by their standards), I was used to people looking at me with strange eyes so when I got into yaoi, it wasn't much of a change, other than having more love to enjoy. Â No, I don't feel guilty. Though my religion is against it, I am against other things that my religion wants and it's because of my beliefs. Â Even as I pair real people, I don't feel guilty. Lol. Because it's the same love, just different when it comes to what's below. (Man, what a horrible term I used. Pfft.) So even if they don't like that pairing, it's the same as being paired to someone of the opposite gender whom you don't like. Hah. And I'm very open so people are aware. (Sometimes I wonder why those men are still being close even with the knowledge of what's going on in my mind. Lol.)
