Synopsis:

"Kim is a boy of 12 years old whose father is headmaster of a boarding school for boys only and where Kim also studied. There, he meets Bo, 3 years older. More experienced in sex issue, Bo seduces the little boy and the two begin a kind of dating, having as background the adventures and misadventures of the group of boys who, like them, are studying in college and at that stage of wanting to try everything (sex, marijuana, alcohol-fueled)..."

 

Filmed in 1978, the film marked an epoch in Europe, despite facing censorship and bans in places more conservative (in the USA only hit theaters in 1981; in Portugal, of course, was never displayed). Critics hailed the film as a kind of "Truffaut sensual", referring to the delicate film directed by François Truffaut, which often focused on the universe of children's affection, as in the classic "The Age of Innocence" (1976 ) - but never daring to delve too much on the sexual side of their characters, keeping the tone "family".

"You Are Not Alone" is bolder. Famous scene in both boys Bo and Kim bathe in the school shower and compare their sex organs. But despite such boldness in no time the film falls into vulgarity and gratuity.

 

The question of puberty and sexual discovery is always so sweet, lyrical and honest. And with the visual charm of the late 70s, the boys with his long hair and androgynous way. It's a movie suit, delicate and beautiful and that's why I brought this movie here.
