Post’s Author Opinion:
Note: This is a personal opinion, it does not reflect YaoiOtaku’s official position towards the manga.

In the last four years, I have been distancing myself from reading manga due to personal reasons. Lately I’m trying to give them another shot, in case there are mangas out there that deserve my attention. Finally, after skipping one after another manga that normalize rape as love, I finally found a gem that is Koi ga Ochitara.

When I first saw the cover in a thumbnail size, I skipped through it in favor of another manga. After taking a closer look, I quite like it. It was simple and alluring, making me wonder if the chemistry between the two characters was as pulling as the image I saw. I was immediately absorbed with the way the mangaka build the main characters’ relationship gradually, giving them time to get to know each other and fall in love. There was no “wham, bam, thank you, man”, which seemed to be common in manga these days, so I really enjoyed the story.

Another plus was that Hishimoto, an older man, despite being comically bad at housekeeping was super duper hot you don’t need to have ojicon to agree with this, trust me and I liked that Ise had the look of a grown man rather than a pretty boy. He was still a beautiful character, don’t get me wrong, but I think these two characters really made a handsome couple. What’s more, the slow seduction will definitely melt you.

Overall, I think this is an excellent manga. It is a slice-of-life story that is believable and I hope that I could see more similar type of story than what’s commonly published these days. I heard that there is a sequel to this, so I’m looking forward to read it as well as other works by this mangaka. Kudos to this great piece.

A former otaku, I have retired from manga and anime and found my love in M/M novels. I have a soft spot for angst with happily ever after, but a little critical on cliches. I like uncomplicated stories, a little hint of mystery and crime as well as something that is not too heavy on the drama.

I read and write mostly in English. Unfortunately, since I started late with my English studies, I am still working on it. I'm pretty much well versed in context, but don't count too much on my grammar.
