So here’s another cute, fun-loving, sweet, and of course smutty manga. Star-Like Words does an excellent job of making you excited for the couple so you root for them, while also clearly presenting the problems between them and how they address them. One of the major points of this manga is the idea that actions speak louder than words. Nagayama is someone who is quiet and reserved; Subaru is understanding of this, bu he doesn’t live his life in the same way. He’s outgoing and loud and quite promiscuous. For the quiet Nagayama, words mean little and Subaru’s actions contradict the things he says. Communication is key for this couple, but Subaru needs to figure out how he can communicate to Subaru in a way that’s meaningful to him. After all, words can be false. This is where art comes in, and this is also where the story turns out to be deeper than it’s first impression.
It may seem like this is just another stereotypical love story, but Star-Like Words proves itself as a diamond in the rough. It’s storylines and ideas are deeper and more thoughtful than it seems to let on, and this is why I believe this manga is something worth looking into.
